Vibrant old bazaar built in Ottoman architectural style, with mosques, markets, shops and cafes.
Always a good idea to come here. Feels like being in the Ottoman Empire. Food is good and cheap and people are very welcoming
If you would like to experience the relaxing shopping on the streets of old city, this is the right place to do it. There are many different shops and small cafes. You will a lot of jewelry shops and souvenirs. Dont miss the fresh bakery and pastry, coffee and much more. Come, shop, walk, eat, relax and enjoy.

A lot of coffee places and stores with unique and authentic vibes
So much fun to peruse the old bazaar. It’s clean, diverse, food galore and delicious coffee when you’re tired from walking.
This place has a charm. As a tourist in Skopje, you must visit the Old Bazaar so that you can get the spirit of the city as well as to take a look at how the locals live. A lot of history in here, and also different shops and cafes where you can sit and relax. It also has good nightlife.
Mixture of european and oriental cultures, good food and lots of cats.
This place is like a little Ottoman little Turkey is a perfect place
Old Bazaar is one the most important places to ne visited in Skopje. Old style of houses, very old mosques from Ottoman period... even though there are various types of stores, restaurants etc.
The soul of Skopje. One of the places that you cannot miss while you visit the capitol of Macedonia.
The Old bazaar (Stara Charshiyatakes you right back to those days and the style of the Eastern part of Europe, close to where the West meets the East. Small cobble-stine streets (sokak), numerous shops for flip-flops, leather old fashioned shoes - souvenirs, bags, badges, hidden medresse (Islam schools), mosques, water tabs, barber shops and many many more - lively and dynamic!
It is already a.comercial place, it lost its old parfume of the authentic turkish bazar.Uohils to the mosque, there are still some old, local shops. Worth visit it fast as it is rapidly changes.
I like this area very much! Authentic historical centre!!!!
I felt like at home here. This place has Ottoman empire vibe. I preferred Destan to eat meatballs. It had the same taste with Türkiye.
Definitely one of the best places to visit in Skopje. I love to spend time with myself here and with my friends.Old bazaar of Skopje is a must, in order to feel the spirit of Skopje and Macedonia.🇲🇰Love the smell of kebapi and skara, all the shops around that exist from a long time and a lot of other stuff that I leave up for you to discover ❤️
As expected an old turkish Bazar is a place of contrast... You are drawn in by the shops and bargains, by the sparkling jewelry and so many cafés and restaurants... but you trip on loose tiles in the ground:))... But the vibe is great... like experiencing 2 countries in 1 city! Loved it... would return! Definitely visit if in Skopje!
A nice place to go, can shop for souvenirs, get food and drinks, have a rest.
Do not miss when visiting Skopje. Highly recommended! A very lively part of the old ottoman town, just below the Kale fortress. Full of cafés, shisha-bars, restaurants and various shops. The pastry shops offer different turkish delicatessen, its a must! Opinions are split on the Boza drink - you either love it or hate it.
Lovely and vibrant if you want to have real city vibes thats the place to be
A really nice bazaar with a relaxed comfortable atmosphere. Can wander the streets for hours looking at all the interesting shops. Some touristy bars and restaurants towards the top of the hill but I preferred the places down lower. The traditional baked beans in clay dish are tasty and filling and a must try national staple.A refreshing escape after you have been overwhelmed by a thousand statues decorated by pigeons. We had a great time.
Wonderful experience. The streets are lovely, enchanting and charming. You can feel the oriental culture, and people are exactly like one would expect : kind and nice merchants that help you. Once again, these streets are beautiful and the people are great. Visit the pazar !
A unique old settlement with many shops, mostly jewelry stores.
Great place to see, eat and buy some souvenir. But night at hotel at 4 am is tragic for not accustomed person. Especially when facing to the window you see and hear mosque.
Nice place to walk through even if you dont plan to buy anything. You could buy lots of fruits, veggies and various spices in such low prices
Wonderful place - impressive. Note 1 hour maximum here is all you need.
A great selection of small winding streets with a wide range of shops and restaurants. One of the nicest aspects is that none of the shop keepers are forceful or hassle you when walking past, and it doesn’t have any of the expected pressure you’d imagine when reading up on the area. There’s clearly a lot of history and some nice monuments as you’re passing through, and with plenty of cafes and restaurants you can easily spend a whole day exploring at a leisurely pace. Definitely one of the highlights of the city.
Great place in the city of Skopje. It is a completely different part of the city. You can find a lot of different stores as well as restaurants. I strongly recommend to spend there some time to get to know the Muslim culture in a European city.
A great place full of life. I loved the vibe.
People from dull western world this is so cool place to visit! You can find pretty much everything here. For example new protective glass for Iphone and the install work just about 200MKD 🙂
Nice place, restaurants and shops in old houses and beautiful stone streets! Drink a turkish coffee and eat in a local restaurant. Not quite expensive. Good and onest exchange houses. Best icecream, many flavours.
This place is incredible! Very beautiful. Very authentic! You can shop here. You can eat here. Or just have a nice cool or hot drink. The uneven streets are a pleasure to walk on. Very beautiful.
Not as busy when I was there but the ambience is still there.Cobblestones, various restaurants and shops, people selling flavored drinks everywhere for a little less than 50 cents (always welcome if you’re there during a heatwave)
Very big and nice basar in the beautiful city skopje with a lot of old history. The supply was also diverse. Be aware of pickpockets but the macedonian people are very friendly.
Got some cool antiques as gifts for family members for good prices, shopkeepers were happy to talk local history. Wish I’d been able to pick up some of the beautiful art I saw.
Absolute necessity to visit when in Skopje. Beautiful old buildings and atmosphere you have to experience yourself. Good place for shopping or just enjoying a nice cup of coffee or good food in many of the restaurants in the area.
This is the old town bazaar of Skopje. Some People call it Turkish bazaar. There are many shops in this area which sells souvenirs, traditional items and restaurants. Nothing to see especially historical but it is a nice place if you love shopping. When we were there it was very hot and we wanted to find a cafe and sit Just to drink something cold but it wasnt easy to find one since there is not enough cafes where you can sit and rest. Most of the shops are souvenirs and restaurants serving only food.
For starters this place is a bit expensive so I suggest you check other places to buy something which is not antique if you want to buy an antique thats your place. I visited 5-6 silver jewellery stores and I think they have a problem with Christians since litterally none of them had anything cross related so if you re looking for anything Christianity related I suggest you look somewhere else.
The so-called "old bazaar" today is more like a shopping street comprised of normal houses in which there are shops. Some are handicraft workshops. Youll also find cafés and restaurants in the meandering streets.
Pretty fun area. I was not able to pay with card anywhere, but food, drinks and service are good
One of the best and unique places in Skopje, be it for the variety of restaurants, cultures or shops. Great for dining or just stolling through
The old Bazaar is a cool place to hang out for a few hours, eat, drink, shop and just soak in the culture of old Skopje. When we visited there were quite a lot of people begging and if your someone who likes to give to those less fortunate it’s good to have some small notes with you!An amazing historic place to visit!
Despite what locals on the other side of the river will tell you, Old Bazar is 100% safe and charming. It’s a great place. Lots to see and do. However, it’s not quite as incredible as Sarajevo’s Baščaršije! That bazar is legendary. This bazar is odd as everything shuts down at 22.00. Oh well. Still awesome
We really enjoyed our walk through this area, but the reason its 4 stars and not 5 is because we went there early in the day, when it would not be as busy, and even though most of the businesses advertised they would be open, they were not. Either way, definitely make your way there.
Nice bazar area, with tons of café and restaurants and shops but there is not much to buy. Nothing special or handcrafted like in other bazars..go there to enjoy the area with the fountains at the entrance. The food. To listen to the prayer from the mosque
Old part of town that surprised me with its size, I expected something tiny, but then got lost in a maze of streets before managing to find my way. Here you can find basically everything you need as a tourist for really good prices. The best local food is also found here, look no further.
Now Old bazaar is really great place for everyone who wants to have fun,eat good food, drink good coffee and tea.Men and women, young and old all together. The best place to have a great time. Lot of stores, the best gold and silver and elegant dresses.
This place is my favorite spot in Skopje: culture, people, delicious food, antique stores, jewelry shops, etc.The place is very special
This is the “Old Town”, historic pedestrian area of Skopje, across the Stone Bridge, headed away from the main square, below the fortress. Lots of meandering cobblestone alleys, & interesting stores selling antiques & souvenirs & other bric-a-brac. It’s completely dead/ semi-closed on Sundays (don’t bother), but during the week, it’s jammed full of folks shopping, & others selling their wares. At the far end, there’s a big central market that’s really interesting to check out. Lots of fresh fruits & vegetables, along with locally sourced meats & fish & nuts & mushrooms & stuff. The perimeter is lined with small make-shift vendor store-fronts, if you want to buy cheap goods & lots of pirated knock-offs.Has a bit of a sketchy vibe, & there are plenty of Roma begging in the area, which can get a little depressing. Keep a close eye on your goodies, as this looks like a prime place to get pick-pocketed (though I thankfully had no issues, personally).A “must see” in Skopje, as it’s been here forever, & while the goods being sold may have changed, the concept of a major commercial hub for the area, has not.
Lovely area for spending some quality time in central Skopje indoors and out. Lots of amazing architecture of various sorts in and around the Old Bazaar too from churches to mosques to museums and shops, restaurants, coffee shops and more. Its all winding streets so ambling is your best bet. Go, explore, get lost and find yourself again later.
