Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Nature reserve in Mwingi, Kenya
This conservancy is a lot of things. Above all, it is heart warming and eye opening. From meeting the chimpanzees (who all come from different backgroundsto feeding the worldβs last two Northern White Rhinos Fatu & Najin, it was a special experience. If youβre thinking of safaris, you have to go here! In my capacity as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, I can tell you that this conservancy is doing things differently and actively in comparison to many other global efforts. Zacharia, Jacob, Peter, Paul & the many others we met- thank you. And oh, the conservancy gift shop has a great selection to pick souvenirs/mementos from.
Reception was helpful and shared a map to guide us as the place is massive. Got chance to feed and stroke Baraka the blind rhino, such a sweet boy. So much to see and learn about wildlife and nature in general.
I went to Kenya in June, 2022, with Craftours. We spent three nights at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp and went on several safaris in Ol Pejeta Conservatory. It was the most incredible experience of my life. The only one of the "big five" we did not see was a leopard. We saw two separate prides with their kills. One was a Cape buffalo, which we returned to on each safari to see the progress. The other was a zebra that had been mostly consumed by the time we came across them. Ol Pejeta is where the last Northern white rhinos are. The last male, Sudan, died, but the Conservancy did collect sperm. The educational information at the Conservancy was interesting and quite fascinating, TBH. There is a rhino grave yard at the Conservancy. It was beautiful and emotional to see. Each rhino has a memorial plaque with his or her information on it. It is heartbreaking to see how many of them were killed by poachers for their horns. I will return to Ol Pejeta some day. I thought that it would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. However, I MUST go back to this incredible place.
ExceptionalIf ever you are looking for the perfect place to unwind, enjoy the best that Kenyas nature can throw at you and have a great time in a quiet, serene place, this is the place to visit. We got to see a lot of things but the price for non residents is absurd compared to residents. Makes it almost not worth going! One of the highlights was the restaurant inside. Really good!!
The chimpanzees there gave me the best experience also Baraka the blind rhino.
Always have a wonderful time visiting this conservancy β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ my Jaan and I have a heavenly time every time. Great work by the whole team looking after the whole territoryThe last trip was aaaaallll about the rhinos π¦ !!!Thank you π
Such an inspiring and beautiful place to visit! Great job is being done there
What an outstanding experience & opportunity to get to see the the last 2 northern white rhinos! Wish I had come earlier to meet Sudan. Biy I have not cried this much in a long time. But there ate 13 little angelsl of hope that will make his legacy last. IM REALLY DISAPPOINTED TO SEE ANYOME DRIVE FREELY WITH NO SUPERVISION & ALSO IN ANY COLOR CARS. ALL OF THESE CAN BE A RECIPE FOR DISASTER FOR THIS WONDERFUL CONSERVATION HEAVEN..PLEASE TIGHTEN UP THE RULES.
Wonderful place to go for day game drive. Animals very visible
Ol Pejeta is a piece of πon π. The serenity the place offers is beyond measure. The Flora and Fauna completes the hills and open Savannah fields. Its the best place to recharge and unwind π³
After flying into Nairobi this was the first park Mama Savana Safaris took us to for a game drive and we saw almost everything that first day/night!You can also pay extra to see the last two remaining female northern white rhinos and learn about what the conservancy is doing to help protect the species! Itβs incredible! They will basically soon be using embryos and inseminating southern white rhinos, using them as a surrogate to help carry the babies and hopefully save the specific rhino! π¦I highly suggest going even if itβs just to see those two rhinos! The park has so much to offer and is so close to Nairobi!
Good and affordable conservancy for fun or students going for education tours. The Ol Pajeta Conservancy is a private animal park located in Nanyuki. It sits on a 360km squared land. The conservancy is a non-profit one with dozens of animals, mostly rescued from countries that hunt and kill them for meat, as trophies, or for slave trade. If youre taking students, just have them carry student IDs if you want to pay children rates (350/- per student)Its also where youll find the remaining endangered rhinos in the whole world.
Best place to view Rhinos. The burial site for Sudan the last Northern male white rhino.
Great experience. The only place you can get a photograph of Elephant and a Rhino in one shot.
Beautiful place.Never seen so many buffaloes at a go in any conservancy yet like I did here.I didnt get to see the lions something we were too excited to see but Ill definitely go back.
Super friendly staff.Animals are very well cared for.Wide selection of camps to spend the night at.Great amenities.
90,000 acres of wild land. You may need a ~5 full days to see most of the area. Luckily there are camps within the conservancy.
Nice place to visit.
Great respect and a true spectacle having held and cared for the LAST TWO Northern white rhino. Truly once in a lifetime experience being in the presence of all the Animals in the conservancy. Great Job taking care of this human history. I applaud every ranger and any single human involved in the operations of making and keeping Ol Pejeta a thriving savannah.
Great Safari Experience. The camping site had water and firewood. A must see Experience.
Epic!!! An easy drive from Nairobi and excellent game driving experience! Amazing conservation work going on there! Keep it up team!
This has been one of the best places Ive ever visited. It has the best wildlife and one of the most efficient accommodation facilities. The food is nice and of variety. The best of Ol Pejeta is the game drives .Both day and night game drives are available.
Incredible conservancy, with stunning views of Mt Kenya. Lots of game and birds to see!
I had of the best time of my life at Ol pejeta, entrance fee was only ksh 950 per person and ksh 600 for the car, the roads are good even with a small car you will still get around just fine, I saw Elephants up close, Rhinos, African Buffalos, Warthogs... I met Baraka the blind Rhino, his story is that amazing. The staff are amazing, very friendly and informative. If can visit Ol Pejeta you should. Everyone needs a chance to visit this amazing place even once in their lifetime.
Great experience well worth the time to go around it definitely going back and to do more there
Loved it. Would spend every weekend here if we could. Staff are great.
Itβs been on my bucket list for so long and so glad I finally went thanks to a wedding I attended. I saw 4 of the Big 5 and so many more beautiful animals - pleasantly surprised at the variety of the animals. Also had a wonderful tour guide who went to great lengths to help us understand the difference between the White Rhino and Black Rhino.
Love the sceneries...great adventure ..had fun watching and learning more about different wild animals
This is such a beautiful and peaceful place. One of the best place for a game drive. The environment is so beautiful plus you can spot a variety of animals from big animals Elephants and buffaloes to the small ones like gazelles and nocturnal animals. It is the home to the last two surviving northern white rhinos and the gentle, blind black rhino, Baraka. You can also visit the Rhino cemetery to check out the fallen rhinos π₯π₯. If you are daring enough, there are campsites you could check out.
I got to see 13 rhinos, a lion pride, buffallos, Kenyas national bird
The place is great. The roads are also passable even with a small vehicle unless it rains (had a saloon car). Was able to see 4 of the big five(the lions were too deep in the jungle so I missed them). The chimps could only be viewed from a distance due to the covid situation. The rangers were friendly and ready to share information too.I recommend.
Awesome place. Very well maintained, you spot all sorts of animals easily during game drive better still from the comfort of the hotel. Sweetwaters β Everyone is a VIP, Nothing to complain about. Keep it up.
