Ojukheon in Wonju

This historical attraction features statues of figures on the 5,000 and 50,000 KRW banknotes: Yi I and Shin Saimdong. Expect to spend 45 min to 1.5 hours viewing paintings, artifacts, scripts and more. There are also some historical buildings which are some of the oldest wooden buildings in Korea. The place is beautiful with well maintained trees. Also there is a gift shop and free parking.

This is a place of famous lady who is clever and good in Chinese Chirography.

I enjoyed the swing chair and its more stroller friendly then most places. I would not recommend this to people with small children.

Because of covid all internal museums was closed. Price of ticket is still the same. They also write on ticket if you are forign person or domestic what i dislike

From the main entrance, you can go straight for looking around the house of the women and the men on the 50.000won and 5000 won korea money. On the left hand, there is a museum where putted some antique pottery from Choson emprire. You can see the scence of archaeology very clearly. It is place worth for 3000won/p.

Beautiful scenery, perfect place for a walk. A place where you can catch a glimpse of the history. It was a house of the scholar Yulgok and her mother Shin Saimdang, one of the best known woman in Korean history. The information about them and their life is in English, the museum also very interesting. And the admission fee is only 3000 won.

Ticket is very cheap. The place is simply nice for nature, black bamboo, and very beautiful cherry blossoms near a small pond. It is kind friendly as well. Definitely go when the weather is at least decent.

Really interesting piece of history. Found this place by accident by just walking by. Its apparently an old estate turned heritage site. The museums found on site are well done and very interesting, with more english support than some other places but not on every display. Still a great afternoon for a really affordable price (like only a couple bucks to get in)

They should have English tour guide. This place is famous for the family who are the character of Korean 5000won and 50000won notes. So beautiful place. You can see 600years old tree and house.

Lovely place to walk around. It s gorgeous and the museums are all very interesting. You have free lockers inside and you can also borrow a wheelchair. The admission price is only 3000₩. We had a lovely afternoon there.

Nice place to walk. Difference copmare with other temples - old building which were survived among other buildings. If you fan of visiting museums - here us very interesting one with manuscripts and artefacts.

Deeply enjoyed the visit, not only because the place offered a beautiful scenery with well-kept gardens, but also because the place was rather successful in conveying the lessons of the great scholar Yulgok on how one ought to conduct oneself in life.

Ojukheon is the birthplace of the Korean admired Neo-Confucian scholar, Yi I and his mother, Shin Saimdang. ‘Ojuk(烏竹)’ means a black bamboo and ‘heon(軒)’ means house. Very big and peaceful place with nice architecture. Beautiful during autumn.

A Nice place. We I went there there was some kind of event with people in traditional clothes waiting on nap with food and you can sit with them and share the food. It was truly a place that make me feel good because of that ! I dont know how often the event occurs though.

This place has peaceful and lovely environment with full greenery. This place has a museum if the cultura heritage if that time. I love this place

this is historical place. great woman and her sons residance at Joseon dynasty. Woman who called Sinsaimdang was good at arts so she left many masterpieces. i hope you enjoy beauty of Hanok and understand about herstory.

If you have interest of Kalligraphie and Asian old black and white paint, it would be nice chance to have a look works of most famous artists of Korea in old time. The entrance fee is just about 3$. You dont lose much.

You can see the first Korean traditional house where Sinsaimdang had her son, Yulgok who is the renowned scholar in Korean history. You can also see the real background of Korean currency of 5K KRW. It is worth to visit and all information is written in English as well.

One of the oldest preserved historical house in Korea. Very well preserved. Very much recommended a visit if you are in the area. The house used to be the home of ancient famous scholar in Korea history. The museum provides a lot of information regarding his life.

Easy to reach via bus from Gangneung center. Place is huge and has a lot of interesting facts.

so wide and lovly place. if you visit Kangneung, one of the must visit place and you can learn a lot of the historical family and thier result and story.

A famous historical place, a birth place of 신사임당 and her son 율곡이이. Only heard of this place way back in elementary school, but I got to visit here, along with the 2018 Winter Olympic games! There was a free guide (in Korean onlyat every hour for about 30 minutes, and the guide is very specific and thorough about the history of each building and tree.Very educational and much more helpful than just wandering around by yourself!The tickets were pretty cheap (less than $5), and there was free wifi all over the area...which was not a surprise.They had some traditional Korean games set up in the courtyard, so we had fun reminiscing the past. They also had special exhibition of the real pieces for the Winter Olympics season!

Great place to visit. Theres so many (historicplaces around here so it would be better to have 2 or more days to see them all. Also recommend to visit local museum and beaches.
