Ojalá - Restaurant in Carabanchel, Spain
Super cute theme! I love the creativity of this place. Great spot to go with friends. Unfortunately the seats are pretty uncomfortable to sit on especially after a while of sitting. Your back begins to hurt and your but goes numb. The seating/table situation is awkward especially if you’re dining with a big group. I had the Mac and cheese and was underwhelmed unfortunately. Small portion and it tasted like it could’ve come from a box… nothing too special. Still think it’s a fun place to bring some friends/family/date!
Ojalá was one of those gems you need someone to recommend to you, and in this case it was our tour guide who did when I asked for a vegetarian spot rec. It was a good 30 min walk from where we were, but it was so worth it.First off, despite being very crowded and the two of us having just walked in, they managed to squeeze us onto a table that was funnily halfway out of the side patio door, so we were next to the street. This wasnt a problem though, eating as the madrid locale bustled around us (and the occasional curious sniffy dogs).Their carrot and other juices are refreshing and hit the mark. Theyre very generous with their sweet potato crisps, so we had a handful of those with our hummus and salads. The salads perhaps had too much dressing, wed have preferred it dryer and leafier, but the dressings were mindfully made and healthy. We left greener and well fed.
Trendy cafe in a trendy area with nice service.
The receptionist was quite unpleasant. I strongly recommend he avoids holding any customer facing roles (unless youre interested in scaring customers away). The lemonade was good, though.
After some vintage store hopping we were in the mood for some lunch. Saw all the amazing reviews for Ojala and had to give it a shot. They had seating outdoors and upstairs, but we saw they had a basement floor. So we went down and to our surprise it was a beach bar with real sand. Very cool experience, they had good music playing and great food and drinks.Light beers, cocktails, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and plenty other dishes.I highly recommend.
This place is super fun, cool and unique!! Downstairs seating and bathroom are an experience!! Food was a good price, delicious brunch with Spanish or American influenced options, served in an interesting way. Total gem
One star for the food, one for the ambience - would only recommend for drinks, as the beach area offers a unique atmosphere in Madrid. The food was very underwhelming, mediocre at best. We ordered both varieties of tacos, and the patatas bravas, and was very confused to find that the "kimchi mayo" was actually mayonnaise with japanese chilli flakes. The tortillas were soggy and fell apart, and the patatas bravas were left unfinished. On a positive note, we ordered the lemonade which was quite refreshing. Bit of a tourist trap, in my opinion.
A nice place to hang out with friends or family. The place offers different section for you to choose, teraza, indoor by the window (my favorite), and further inside. Another area is at the basement, very interesting as they put the sands, you can do barefoot to have the beach sensation.I was impressed by the toilet, high tech design.. it’s a gender neutral and this was informed using the LCD screen on the wall. The coffee is nice, smoothie is so refreshing. We only tried cookies, but it taste good. Will come back to try the food. This place offers an interesting atmosphere that cannot be missed !
I had the fish and chips with squid ink mayonnaise. It was delicious! Cool vibe
Feels more focused on being Instagram-friendly than on making good food. The pancakes Benedict were very mediocre - looked like they just slapped pre-prepared things together, nothing tasted fresh and presentation was also not great. Wouldn’t come back here.
I ordered a decaffeinated coffee, remarking the need to be without caffeine cause it’s dangerous for my health and they didn’t do it. I had a huge heart crisis and I was in real danger cause they don’t know what’s the difference and they don’t know the risk. If you have this need and you would like to order, don’t do it, they don’t respect
Brilliant friendly service and food. Make sure you come hungry.
Great food + a huge jar of Tinto de Verano = Happy girls
Came here for breakfast,Coffee a little bit better than average, the dish, Reggie veggie if I am not mistaken, quite all right, but maybe missing a final punch.Nicely located, staff friendly, decoration of the toilets a bit psychodelic but quite all right
The restaurant is gorgeous with bright sea green walls, fully stocked bar, and lush greenery all around. The tables on the top floor have plenty of space to enjoy the ambiance and the food but we opted for the basement which is a full beach with sand and comfy floor couches and colored lighting. The caffe lattes were delicious with the perfect amount of sweet in the cold foam and delicious coffee that actually was strong enough to feel awakened after a long night of drinking the day before. The watermelon gazpacho was refreshing and fruity but still had savory notes. The thai noodle salad was also refreshing with the cold salad including crunchy peanuts and cabbage and nutty dressing and plenty of rice noodles. We both got the huevos racheros which included a velvety black bean base, perfectly poached eggs, creamy and fresh avocado, and delicious, smoky, spicy chorizo with chips. We inhaled the huevos racheros, it was that good. The staff was delightful and accommodating, and gave great recommendations. I absolutely recommend!
We had a great time here. The sangria was really nice and the food was amazing too. The washroom though is very trippy- do check it out
Best brunch spot I’ve encountered in Madrid! The architecture/ interior design is fantastic. Food was all cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and very accommodating! I wish I had more time in Madrid so that I could go back 😩
I go frequently for the huevos ranchers. For the price they are great. Like a lot of places, the service can be hit or miss. They lose a star for this. Weird toilets downstairs with sand on the floor. Great if youre a cat 🐈 though.
Great place for having a drink in the afternoon or eating a couple of snacks. We spent a lovely afternoon sitting on the little sqare and trying their different tacos - they were very tasty.
My favorite place for brunch in Madrid! One of the best brunches I’ve ever had. This place is amazing and the waiters are very friendly
Nice place, we had dinner there. We had the best waiter ever, always available and kind.I found hair in my food and they have been kind to offer me the dessert.
A lot of fuss for a rather medium kind of food, with service on the low side. The fish & chips were frozen and just cooked. The falafel was good, but the packaging made it impossible for the sauce not to go anywhere.
Cute cafe with nice interior as well as outdoor seating. I came alone to have a quick bite near my Airbnb and was greeted by friendly staff who provided me with the Wifi. I had the fresh mint tea (which came in a nice teapotand the tortilla (wasn’t very runny and definitely had better). My friends who lived in the neighbourhood had good things to say about this place and I hear there’s a sand area in their downstairs which is unique.
My friend Karen Lopez works here and is the nicest waitress you’ll find. I’ve been coming here many years and she is always so kind, attentive, and greets me with a smile and hug. This place is so unique with the sand beach feel down stairs. Their sangria is sooo good too!
In the middle of Maladaña at a plaza with other restaurants and bars. Good price for great brunch. Ambiente was great, beach is downstairs and you can also sit outside. Really short waiting time for order and nice waitress, menu changes were possible.
The location is a must-go in Madrid. Definitely go downstairs just to check out its decoration. The food was really good, nice portions, price was decent, definitely a good value for your money. Service is quick, they are not closed for “siesta”, another plus. Keep it up guys, it was a great experience!
Fun place! If you want to sit downstairs in the sandy area you have to reserve for that specifically. Overall the food is anything extraordinary, but it’s worth it for the experience. I will say the sangria was decent and the pizza was really delicious.
Lovely cafe, friendly service, perfect for the kids to play with sand downstairs (it’s designed for a tropical feel but kids enjoy sand everywhere :)Above all, an amazing terrace extended to the little square, with plenty of sun and a playground.
Great breakfast spot in the one of the best district in Madrid - Malasaña.Nice terrace right on the square.Recommended!
🇪🇸 Ojalá Restaurant opened in Madrid on December 2004 and was later revamped on May 2014 by architect Andres Jaque.Ojalá displays a hanging garden 🪴, shared wooden tables with touches of fluorescent colors, fairground lights and a sand beach in the basement with a beach bar 🏝 🍹A wide range of #Brunch until late in the afternoon; homemade cakes and sweets combined with natural juices, milkshakes, smoothies and varied beers 🍻🍰🥤🧁
Delicious food, good portions, natural juices, lots of options. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outstanding service. Good vibes for a good brunch with friends.
Located in the hipster district of Malasaña this quirky establishment offers brunch food on the ground floor and an artificial beach (with real sandin the basement. The service is very friendly, though a bit slow.Pictures: mochaccino (absolutely deliciousand brunch menu
Great environment, though we had tiny very uncomfortable garden chairs which truly shouldnt be there. But I see the green and interior work. Get better chairs, no point stuffing people into tiny chairsFood was mediocre. Both Mac and cheese and shepherds pie needed more time in the oven/grill atleast 10 more minutes. It was Luke warm and pretty bad. The Mac (short for macaroniwas actually cavatappi, kind of ironic. Couldve been "Generic pasta in cheese sauce, not baked".Drinks and service was excellent.
Cool place to eat or drink with friends. The food is also quite good, but you’ll want to be here for the vibes. If there are tables available, ask if you could be seated in their basement! However, it’s the friendly staff that deserves most of the praise.
Cool place with really nice atmosphere. We tried the brunch menu, cocktails, nacho’s, coffee and sweets there. Great food, and quality price ratio is perfect. Definitely on my list when i visit Madrid again.
Really delicious breakfast/brunch place.Ive tried the Brunch menu called "The Healthy One" and it was really delicious.
The food was really delicious! I had a turkey sandwich and a berries pancakes. There pancakes is great must try. The staff were really friendly and polite. There prices are reasonable.
This restaurant - bar is very well decorated and has a nice terrace, as well as an open area. The beach concept is nice but the atmosphere is a bit sad given the few lights in the basement. Also the service isn’t that friendly, which is a shame.Prices are really OK but the jarra (1,4L for 21€of Spritz for example made us feel like there was no alcohol at all and was more of a juice drink...
I was introduced to Ojalá by a good friend and fell in love! The “beach” atmosphere in the basement with sand on the floor is unique. The food was tasty as well as their cocktails and beers! My friends and I were fortunate to have Martina serve us! She was friendly and eager to help and explained the menu. Thank you to Martina and the staff of Ojalá for creating a fun and memorable experience!
A beach without sea, in the centre of Madrid!Live the beach experience, feel the sand under your feet, and enjoy exceptional scape away atmosphere, nice music, and delicious food.
This was our first stop in Madrid and it was delicious experience. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Place have nice and crazy design. Food was delicious, good varieties on the menu. For me personally, the table for two was just too small and little uncomfortable after we order little more food and drinks. Overall very solid vibe, nice staff and open clean kitchen scoring full stars. And they making own bread (you can choose from 3 or 4 delicious options)
The decoration of the place is lovely. I went there twice, first for sangria at the basement which is decorated like a beach club (with sand on the floor!it was cool. My second time was for brunch, I liked their spanish ommelette and my friend enjoyed their sausagges. However, I think their presentation of the food is better than its taste
We went for breakfast and had a great time. The place looks amazing and very welcoming. The staff is very friendly. We went early in the morning 9:45AM on a Saturday so a reservation is not really needed. The menu offers a broad variety and the food is tasting really good. They also have a terrace in case the inside gets full. Downstairs is kinda like a beachy place but I guess its only for drinks in the afternoon. Prices wise its okay for what you get.
Ojalá is a wonderful coffee shop/restaurant. We went for brunch and there was only a small wait for a table. The food is very good, and the menu is extensive. Food is made from very natural ingredients and its both delicious and healthy. The staff is always very busy but they are very good and kind. The place itself is beautiful, with a great decoration.
Great outdoor sitting area in the Barrio of Malasaña. Great Sunday brunch selection, good coffee and good service. You won’t be disappointed. Please note that you cannot seat yourself. Go to the waiters door and ask one of them to put your name on the list for a table outside. If you want to seat inside do the same with one of the waiters tending tables inside the restaurant.
One of my favorite places to go in Madrid for casual meal with a cute vibe. Downstairs has a sand area and it’s fun, but can be uncomfortable if you’re staying for a while. I love their food as well. It’s all reasonably priced.
Very cool atmosphere. The upstairs rooms have cool lights and plants and the downstairs is like a beach, the floor is sand but the seats downstairs are very low to the ground and not very comfortable to sit on and the tables are small (don’t recommend older people sitting downstairs). The food was good (the hummus and patatas bravas apps are delicious), good sangria, and good prices, but my veggie sandwich was nothing special. Service was a little slow as well. Would return again just for the decor/atmosphere and appetizers.
Trendy brunch place in the middle of Malasaña quarter. Very cool design and a hipster place to go. Staff is kind and quick serving, and food is covering expectatives. The air is really confortable and they have a surprise at the basement: a beach club underground!Booking is reccomended, but they dont accept reservations for the same day.
I have been wanting to come here since we got to Madrid, and finally this weekend we did! Its everything I could have asked for AND MORE! Usually pretty busy, so if you have a large group id have a plan B. But they have a ton of tables outside, and the coolest beach room in the basement. Its also not crazy busy if you go in the off-peak hours (aka not Friday or Saturday night). Very quaint, rather inexpensive, the service is good and the food is awesome. Well definitely be back.
Brunch was great! Pulled pork (Dr. Peppersandwich was lacking a little flavour but tender and delicious non the less (I added some chipotle mayonnaisepatatas bravas was really good. Chicken sandwich with guacamole and beans was a better option. Brunch platters included a coffee and juice and were all around 10€. Lights kept going from bright to dim which was a little annoying. I wouldnt recommend the downstairs beach area for eating but when its busy you dont have much choice. The beach area consists of knee high tables and sand on the ground with small benches (better for drinks). Over all good experience food was delicious.
