Ogen Hua Hin restaurant מסעדת עוגן הואה הין - Mediterranean restaurant in Hua Hin, Thailand
Might be the best middle eastern food Ive had in Thailand. Its a simple restaurant in size and look but it will blow you away with their food.
This food was such a surprise…. So good!! Loved all the flavours, the hummus is out of this world. Highly recommend
A week ago I should have written this, as my first experience at Ogen was one that I shall NEVER forget, 5 STARS, all the way. Today however, I would still give 5 STARS for the food & service, but the musical selections, which I find to be as important as the food & service when dining at an International restaurant, should be from the same country, as the food being served.Last week I closed my eyes & it felt like I could have been in Israel. The food & music transported me to a place that Ive never been & I loved every moment of it. Today, with the rock & roll, Beatles (really? not to mention the other bad selections, which were also too loud, gave me another memorable experience, a bad one. We wont be returning! Background music DOES set the mood for a GREAT culinary experience, believe or not.
Its clean and seated is provided indoor as well as outside. The food is presented well with complimentary relishes as appetizers. The dishes I tried were each delicious, but unlike menu items Ive had many times at many places in the past. I found myself wishing for the preparation Id come to know. Its because of their take on common dishes that I rate them 3 star. With that said I would return.
Great Middle Eastern food in Huahin.
The food is mediocre but will pass a weak ok. Too pricy though for what is served. What a majority of restaurant owners dont understand in Thailand, is that it is a SERVICE business! You are regarded for the whole package. There are 3 major corners that must coincide. Ambiance, service and food. In that order! Miss one - and you are out.For this place I could give ambiance a veey weak ok. So with food. But service?! A complete mess and disaster. They have no clue as to what they are doing. And that is solely the owners fault! Havent trained the staff. Most likely because he havent got a clue what good service is. Or have to present it.I wont do a long list of all their unprofessional behaviour today.Just wont ever return again. Thats all. Unfortunately standards of restaurants in general in Hua Hin has taken a nosedive since the virus lockdowns. Can understand that to a degree. But if you run a service operation, you have to be professional. Very few are. I am talking solely about western food places with foreign owners. Most of them are absolute amateurs with no previous knowledge of how to run a restaurant. This is another inferiour business I have taken off the list. Never return.
Nice local restaurant with tasty Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. Staffs provide great service with attention and good English skills.
Great and delicious food. Good service.
Hummus so delicious!!!!Creamy&SpicesPita: Ok! (Love this more than Naan)
Everything was perfect! Love all the side dishes, hummus, bread, falafel, and grilled meat! We ordered the mixed grill - great flavors!
we went to ogen for our 2 year anniversary because we wanted something different and a little fancy. we are absolutely baffled by how nice this restaurant experience was! we ordered a meat platter and got all those little side dishes, one or two at a time, which gave everything an excitement, which we loved! everything was incredibly delicious, but what really stood out was the hummus, the chicken and the little tomato salad. It was immaculate. 10/10lg
Came here twice in one week. Excellent food and wonderful service. All the staff speak English very well and the food is authentic and fresh. Mixed grill and Shakshouka and tabbouleh salad.
Middle eastern food, executed by thai staff - enough saidIm sure at one point there was a foreigner owner involved there, but its very clear those days are gone.We ordered among other things "Pita shawarma "What we got is a completely yellow oil soaked pita that immediately tore apart and made a yellow oily mess .We of course couldnt eat it and left it as is.When we asked for the bill i mentioned to the waitress that thats not how a pita shawarma is supposed to look and taste like, , and that we just couldnt eat it, it looks disgusting and tasted bad too.She smiled and said sorry , following to bring the bill and in a true thai way of not really caring about the customer experience, this pita shawarma was in the bill and i was expected to pay for it.She didnt care that it was unedible, she just wanted money. Even when i asked her "are you really charging me for this #$@$% .?She continued to smile and i could tell that she jusy didnt care.I pad my bill, and very quickly wiped this awful place outta my mind .Needles to say, we wont be eating there anymore and i recommend you neither.
Excellent food with nice variety. Big portions, and stand bye your side excellent service. Wonderful break from Thai food when you need it. A must go to enjoy. I took a picture of face of menu for proper address because its messed up on maps.
Falafel was super fresh and good! Tasty salads! Everything cost us about 800 bath for 3 adults.
We had a fantastic and hearty lunch here. Portions and side dishes were very generous, we ordered the mixed grill for two which was a feast! Flavours were delicious and service was kind and attentive. Highly recommended.
Highly recommend the Jerusalem mixed grill. Other favorites are their hummus, shashuka , and lemon mint shake. Love their pita and the many complimentary dishes that they served you as you wait for your meal. Very tasty 😋
The best Arabic and Mediterranean food in Thailand at a reasonable price. Best hummus in Thailand. Jerusalem mixed grill is very delicious.
Really tasty authentic middle Eastern food. The grilled meats had an excellent smoked flavour from the grill.Very friendly service as well.Portions are large, and reasonably priced.
Recommended. Delicious, healthy, beautiful and affordable.
Great food. This restaurant much better then any Istaeli restaurant in Bkk.Reasonable prices
If I was able to give them 6 stars, I absolutely should gave that to them. The taste of the food is just amazing. Every bite you take is a party. Taste of the food is authentic. I never, never had this quality Middle Eastern food outside the Middle East.I am very often in Hua Hin and because of a coincidence I had food here. Many, many times I saw this place, but honestly, the atmosphere and decoration doesnt look Middle Eastern. (Sorry dear owner). The service of the friendly staff is very good. To have this kind of staff is a blessing for every business owner.I will definitely come back to enjoy your food guys.My conclusion: visit Ogen and you will love it!!
Excellent restaurant. My wife and I ordered the mix grill set and we were very satisfied. Excellent dining choice for Hua Hin, a good break away from Thai seafood and Italian restaurants. Service was great. Theres parking close to the restaurant. You might want to book ahead on a Saturday; it was booming. We were lucky to get a seat.
Well that was a delicious meal .. and what huge portions . The Falafel plate was incredible , the chicken cooked to perfection and amazing quality . Real thick fat fluffy chips to . A real treat . Staff so kind & attentive and lovely camomile tea and delicious cake to finish .
That was a satisfying brunch. A mix grill set with a variety of salads and a perfect serving of hummus.
Best Hummus and Falafel we’ve had so far!The staff is very friendly, the service is great. We was several times there and can definitely recommend this place.
Man I needed a delicious food and this place delivered. I love the food here.
We went for lunch (5 people). The food was AMAZING, true to the Israeli cuisine, accompanied with the correct music and the warm welcoming. The service was great, fast and polite. The food came out fresh and very tasty. We also got a variety of traditional salads. Each of them with the original taste! The prices were a bit high comparing to local restaurants, but still very reasonable (1500 baht for 5 people), and no doubt WORTH IT.People who want to know what mediterranean food is like, or Israelies that want a taste of home, or if you just want tasty food and a good experience - this is the place for you.Highlights - the tenderness of the chicken shish and the Shakshuka.
Went back here after many many years, the food is (stilldelicious, really enjoyed the hummus.
We ordered a set for 2 and it was too much food but it was so delicious. They gave a lot of side dishes and everything was fantastic. You can bring dogs and sit outside too which is very important for us. Would definitely go back
Visited for a light dinner and was not disappointed. Lots of pleasant staff and seem efficient. Food delivered quickly and tasted good. Atmosphere … a little light music would have been good. I will return and might update to 5 stars.
Great Lebanese restaurant.Really good flavours.Has an outdoor dining area and inside aircon section
Fresh and delicious Mediterranean Israeli food.Hot and soft Falafel, variety of salads and BBQ.Recommended.
Very delicious and generous portion size. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious, better than the expectation. Friendly staff . We paid total 1100baht for this food set for 2 i recommend. Every single salad worth a try
Cannot imagine food can be this delicious. The best Mediterranean food ever I tried.Tried several places in Bangkok, but no place can be same as here.Awesome dinner.
Incredibly delicious Mediterranean/middle eastern food! The grilled chicken is spectacular as is the hummus and baba. But my favorite part was the tabouli salad. A must. A+++
We last ate here 4 years ago and never forgot how authentic and delicious all the dishes are here. Finally we are back and in honesty its even better than we remember. If you like middle eastern food then you will enjoy this restaurant.
Really great Middle Eastern food, with good service, and very decent prices. Tasty, with genuine spices, and not too oily. Got the feeling that everything was made in the restaurant, including the wide variety of mezze served. Will be back!
Best midle east restaurant in Hua Hin ..Very nice good food. Arroyo Mak Mak .. Very clean. I will be back soon. Staff Very polite. The manager Very friendly. And not so expensive for the quality of the food..And the abundance..You must try if you around there..Jack
This restaurant is highly overrated and not delicious even for a lower price. The chicken pita does not taste good at all, the chicken is flavourless. The falafel is tasteless also. You will definitely be disappointed like I was. Only the French fries was good and the little salad free dishes they put on the table. Overall I would never go back or recommend this place
Excellent hummus! Very tasty and crispy falafels! The pita was fresh and with a nice texture. Will go back for sure for their mix grilled meats platter:)
Amazing middle eastern food. The various ‘salad’ appetizers were all really tasty. Chicken was tender and the bread was so soft and fresh. We also ordered juices which was made fresh each glass. Staff was really hospitable. Good location with parking nearby. Definitely a 5-star.
Amazing food ... the staff are lovely. Have eaten here 2 times now ... once takeaway though a delivery app and we went to the restaurant last night and it was even better fresh out the kitchen. Highly advised. Will be going here weekly .
Ever since ive eaten at Ogen ive been around trying to find the perfect falafels. Let me tell you NOTHING beats this place. This place is the definition of Middle Eastern food and the greatest falafels ive ever had in my life. The food here is phenomenal and id visit Hua Hin any day just to have a meal here. The side servings with the falafel pitas are an explosion of flavors and every bite is to be savored. The staff are super friendly and trustworthy, and eager to have friendly conversations. Together with my meal they offered me a pot of fresh mint tea. Satisfaction to the max.
Craving "Lebanese" food, I did a quick search on Google maps and couldnt quite believe this place popped up with an overall 4.7 rating with over 270 reviews. Thats almost unheard of; almost suspicious, in fact. But after eating there, I certainly understand it. WOW! The waitress was not only knowledgeable but also super enthusiastic and hospitable. She noticed that we had a bag of cold groceries and offered to chill them for us without even asking. Service like that in Thailand is practically non-existent. But the service, as great as it may be, is actually not the highlight here. The food. The food. The FOOD. Specifically, the hummus, which is some of the best Ive ever had. The bread is a thicker "Israeli" style of Pita, which to be honest, I normally dont care for, as I usually prefer the thinner Lebanese style, but this one - WOW! Its unbelievably soft, a little bit sweet, and served fresh and still warm from the oven. It was heaven. The experience could have ended there and we wouldve gone home happy, but no, they continued taking the experience to a new extreme with every dish they brought out. Perhaps the best part for us was the unexpected assortment of "salads" they brought out before our actual order arrived. I dont know what they are doing with that cauliflower, but I could eat a whole meal consisting of only that. Keep up the awesome work there, guys, and thanks for our best meal in Hua Hin.
Vegan dishes available, some of which contains eggs or some animal ingredients. At first I talked to the waitress but she replied to me that she already redirected the same question to the boss but the problem remaind unsolved for days. I requested to meet the boss in person, and I did. He happened to be was at table with friends next to us not far outside. I had a very nice conversation with the boss, and talked over the problem. He finally promised to put a sticker beside the vegan option dishes to remind customers of the food which contains animal ingredients. In summary, the boss is open-minded, willing to solve the problems. If anyone ever patronizes the store afterwards, please let us know whether the sticker is placed on the menu. Thx.In all, the food is good.
This restaurant was one of my best finds since moving to Thailand 10 months ago. The hummus and salads were fresh and flavorful. Falafel were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Pita bread was soft and tender. Perfect for wrapping and scooping to the last bite.Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and the owner was personable and a joy to visit. I will go here every time I come to Hua Hin.
Excellent Mediterranean/Israeli food made with good ingredients. Fast service with a smile. It is a real gem in central Hua Hin. Highly recommend.
This is a fairly new Mediterranean restaurant, I just happened to see it as I was walking by and decided to give it a try, Im glad that I did!The restaurant is bright and cheery, the front is all windows so there is a lot of natural light. There is seating for about 18 inside and about the same amount of seating is available outside as well. Everything looked clean. We took a seat and menus were brought over. I decided on the Falafel set which includes fries and a drink. My girlfriend ordered the Hummus Shawarma. The food arrived and it looked great, they really plated it well. The food tasted as good as it looked, we were both very pleased with our choices and were talking about what we are going to order on our next visit. There were so many things that looked good on the menu. I think we found another regular stop to add to our restaurant rotation list.Ogen is located behind McDonalds, if you were thinking of going to McDonalds why not take a few extra steps and get some real food for about the same price?
