What can I say to convince you to go here? It was a magical experience and I highly recommend it.If you love nature, fun and creepy then this beauty is for you.At the entrance we paid two thousand each to access the cave joined by a tour guide who kept on telling us the history about the caves. We had to remove our shoes at the point of entry as the cave is deemed sacred. The inside is very dark, we made use of our phone torchlight in other to see and crawl through the pathways in the caves which comprises of bats, water and muds. The bats are somewhat friendly and scary ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜.We came out through an exit hole and accessed the water coming from the caves and a nearby waterfall. The maintenance could be improvedThe gods should stop eating our money ๐Ÿ˜‚Road network to the place could be improvedThe tour guides could be nicer๐Ÿ˜Going in a smaller group is the bestNb: theres a healing water for you there ๐Ÿ˜š

Good tourist attraction. If you like Adventure, and you like to explore, it is a good place to be. Close to nature, with a lot of history attached to the cave. You will love it.

I was there a couple of days ago...its accessible but not for the faint at heart. Its physically tasking. Also if youre fat it may be difficult to manover some tight spots.Regarding pricing, If youre an indigene of the area its free but we were charged 1,000 per head. I guess if its a group, the rates can be negotiated.Certain rules like no shoes, no women on their period apply. At some point during the tour the guide still taxed us saying if we dont pay we will be abandoned there. We were scared and not being familiar with the area we had to pay, It was sad. An extra 1k was paid during the ordeal. Its a shame such things happen. They have armed vigilante on ground, I dont know if that makes it safer ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ But its always good to go in a large group. The access could be better with better signage, lighting and better maintenance culture ( but I guess thats the overall problem of Nigeria ๐Ÿ˜Š)

Ogbunike cave is a place to visit, located in Anambra State, Nigeria. Its an ancestral place of refuge and a holy ground of the Igbo traditional worshipers in the Eastern Nigeria. It was awesome, seeing the cave bats, the cold and warm water (cave water and the ogba river meeting point). The navigation of the cave through narrow cavities is epic and memorable. Visit Ogbunike cave today and have fun.

This place is a scary but awesome place to visit. Getting there should not be much of a hassle since people who live nearby are kind to strangers.Once there, the environment should put you at ease since its just nature that abounds around. Going down to the cave would have you walking down stairs that numbers 300-plus according to the guide.Getting to the mouth of the cave would be the spot where the fear would start. The mouth of the cave looks scary but hey, I was there for the adventure so I did not mind. The guide gave us some history and we talk a walk/crawl into the cave while making sure we dont get lost in the cave because it had many openings.I could go on and on but I can say this for sure, thats a lovely place to visit especially if you love adenture.

By far the bravest thing i ve ever done! The tunnels in the cave are so small, you ve to crawl through some in them amongst thousands of bats and insects. Its so dark you ve to ve a flash light to see. Its pitch dark inside! It was scary as hell.I could not breathe properly and was sweating buckets. Its not for the faint of heart but its a worthwhile experience. However women on their period are not allowed into d cave, this was the part i didnt like and when i asked why , they said cos its a holy ground, i started to wonder how a woman on her period becomes or is unholy and therefore should not gain access to the cave.Thankfully i was not on my period and im wondering how they would ve known if i was because its not like anyone was checking. In all it was a great but creepy experience.@queenbethia for ig

The caves is a tourist attraction in Ogbunike, Anambra State. Bats and waters are some of the features. The caves can be scary for the faint hearted because it is dark inside and you need bright flashlights. I noticed some development and improvement the last time I visited.1. A relaxation centre has been built outside the caves before you go down the stairs.2. The stairs leading down to the caves has been expanded and handrails constructed on both sides. These developments are welcome.

Okay so this place is a must see. Youll experience all kinds of emotions. Fear, excitement and anxiousness all in one.Get your negotiating skills on too when you get there. Youll meet some gun weilding men when you get there. They are the security guards. We went as a team of 6. They said were to pay 1000 naira for entrance and another 1000 naira for the tour guide. So thats 2000 naira per person. Wed have paid a total of 12,000 naira but I negotiated and we paid 10,000 naira. Id advise you go with someone who speaks igbo very well.I wanted to have my prewedding shoot there and the tour guides/security guards said we should have come with a bottle of wine but since we didnt have that, we have to pay 3000 naira "to appease the gods so we asked for the account number of the gods๐Ÿคท. We ended up paying 2000 naira to a human instead of the gods.Insist on seeing the bat palor when you visit. Dont let the tour guide use nagging to make you quit the adventure. Our tour guide was Okechukwu or Okey. He kept hurrying us and nagging but we didnt let that deter us. We took the prewedding shots at the cave entrance, went to the ogba river and then went into the cave to experience the adrenaline rush.Okay let me stop writing. Underneath a valley covered by tropical rain forest lies Ogbunike Caves, a collection of #caves that has #spiritual significance to the locals. Descending 317 steps will take you to the main entrance of the caves. Visitors must take of their shoes before entering and be prepared for the experience of stepping on moist #earth. The main cave consists of a massive area and structure with a big open chamber. At certain parts of this chamber depending on how tall you are you can stand erect. There are different tunnels at the main chamber leading to different directions. The tunnels end up in big chambers and they vary in lengths and some are interconnected. You will find large colonies of #bats and streams in the caves. One stream flows out from one of the tunnels into #River NkissaThere is also a spot beside the river used as a relaxation spot by visitors to the caves. The #rock at the entrance is said to grow so I have taken a picture to mark the level so if do ever comeback I can cross check if the legend holds true

A lovely place if you have the mind. Pay attention to all rules at the entrance. Ensure you dont go alone cause it can be really scary. They usually about 1000 naira for the upkeep of the place. Then you pay the tour guide. Ensure that you carry your own flash light because your phone light wont do any justice to the kind of darkness you would face. Ask alot of questions from your tour guide and seek as much information about the place. You might be frightened by the tour guide shouting the cave spirits name just try to keep your calm. I wouldnt advise this place if you are claustrophobic because there are lots of closed spaces.

It is scary but really adventurous. If you are strong and fit, the cave is a place to visit. It is culturally significant to the people of Ogbunike and this is explained by the tour guides who are ever willing to lead you. For cultural reasons, visitors are expected to go round the cave on bare foot. There is spring water that runs through yhe cave and it is home for bats that will welcome you as you are entering the cave. To access the cave, from onitsha, go through onitsha-Awka old road. At Oye Olisa by Ogidi Axis, go through the market into Ogbunike, then ask for direction to the cave.

This is one of the least talked about places in Nigeria. There are at least 297 steps leading to the entrance of the cave. You are required to pay an offering (anything you havebefore you enter the cave. This is after you have paid an entrance fee of 3,000 Naira. The cave has 5 sections - 1. Phython section, 2. Roundabout section, 3. Toll gate section, 4. Bat section, 5. Crocodile section. I went in through the bat section and saw a lot of bats. I was not willing to find out if the crocodile and python section had those animals they were named after. You need a torch light as your phone torch may not be so good seeing as the cave is extremely dark. Be sure to wear light clothes that are comfy as you will crawl at some point. From the cave, the tour guides take you to a stream and you can decide to take a swim in it.

In the latter months of 1968 and 1969, when hundreds of people hid in the dark to escape the perils of the Nigerian Civil War, the Ogbunike caves presented many options. For the locals and soldiers who hid and lived there for days and weeks in some cases, it was familiar territory; a complex maze of caves that outsiders could never understand. It was not the first time that the Ogbunike caves offered a place for hiding; it is said that slave traders in pre-colonial times hid in the caves from which they planned and executed slave raids. The safety and refuge that the caves have provided across history are partly why they hold special importance to the indigenes of Anambra and the East of Nigeria, to an extent. The Ogbunike caves are actually a system of many caves linked together by small, tunnels and passages. They take their name from Ogbunike , a town in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State where they are situated. The main cave consists of a massive structure with a big open chamber of about 5m high, 10m wide and 30m long at the entrance.Beyond their storied history as a place of refuge, the Ogbunike caves have an important spiritual heritage that dates back many years before the white man first set foot on African soil, to a time when they worshiped in its darkest recesses. It is said that the Ogbunike caves were discovered by a man named Ukwa , from the Umucheke family of Ifite-Ogbunike , about 4000 years ago.Legends claim that the caves were created by a deity,Ogba , who they believe lives within. The Ogbunike caves draw much of their spiritual significance from this belief. Some of the indigenes still come there to worship and they point to many phenomena in and around the cave as proof of their beliefs.
