We saw the Milky Way with our naked eyes. The sky is so clear here. We also saw Jupiter & its moons, plus Saturn rings and several nebuli in the telescopes. So beautiful! The guide spoke excellent English and gave great explanations of constellations. Make sure to wear warm clothing because it gets cold in the mountain at night.

Me encantó observar las estrellas, saturno y júpiter se veían muy definidos, ya que el tiempo nos acompaño. Aunque la cúpula está en reparación observamos por un telescopio más pequeño pero la experiencia para alguien que tiene un conocimiento medio- básico o nulo está genial. Guía excelente y con lenguaje científico y explicado para quienes no sabíamos.Deben reservar el mismo día y comprar las entradas ($12.000 p/p oct-2022)1 hora antes del tour, para ir en carabana al observatorio.

La experiencia no es muy buena el valor de la entrada es muy elevado para lo que se realizó arriba solo pudimos ver la luna, Saturno y Júpiter la cual, fue muy extenso todo al punto de que varios nos dormimos, para poder subir aproximadamente esperamos casi 40 min la verdad no volvería a ir... No sé si tienen más actividad pero en lo personal con el grupo de nosotros fue muy por encima como por salir del paso

Esperaba más, sobre todo del mejor observatorio de Chile... Hice reservar para 24 personas y me la confirmaron, al llegar me indicaron que el grupo se debía dividir por ser muy grande, solo aceptaban 22. Tuve que de nuevo explicar que el grupo era familiar y habían niños y allí se resignaron aceptar... Luego de eso, el tour nada atractivo, tiene una duración de 1hora y 30 min, de los cuales el guía sólo de dedico hablar 1 hora 15min, y sólo nos permitió observar en 3 ocasiones, (luna, saturno y júpiter)... Recomiendo realizar más interactivo los tours, ejemplo, un pequeño video o charla en las salas mientras uno espera, mostrar más sobre el telescopio o algún otro ingenio, muchos nos quedamos dormidos durante la charla... Y por último un frío intenso, que para lo que cobran al menos deben invertir en estufas.Tenía en mente volver ir cuando el telescopio de 16 este habilitado, pero con esta experiencia no me quedaron ganas.

Los profesionales astrónomos con un gran conocimiento en su materia. El lugar requiere de varias mejoras: No tiene accesos adecuados para discapacidad, las sillas no son adecuadas en comodidad para los visitantes observadores y por ultimo, terminada la visita el retorno a Vicuña es a tu suerte, es decir sin camioneta guia con ocurre en la ida al observatorio. En general una buena experiencia con coste alto para el servicio ofrecido mas alla de los astronomos, todo es mejorable si se invierte mas en estos detalles no menores.

Creo que al ser municipal no le toman la importancia correspondiente, pase a consultar al modulo y habia 3 personas, mi pregunta es para que tanta gente si primero, no responden los correos que ponen de contacto y segundo tampoco tienen claro el funcionamiento del obsevatorio, seria mucho mas practico publicar directamente en internet que no se esta atendiendo asi podrian distribuir al personal que se nota sobra en esa comuna.

Muy lindo observatorio. Gran dominio de la información entregada por parte de los guías que brindan el tur astronómico. Tiene servicios sanitarios y todo está muy bien distribuido para recibir gran cantidad de personas. Tiene un observatorio didáctico muy fascinante.

Hermoso lugar para conocer algo más del cielo. En el tour se pueden observar estrellas, nebulosas, entre otras cosas. Entrada 12.000 para adultos y 4.500 para niños. Deben reservar por la página y retirar frente a la plaza de Vicuña 1 hora antes del tour. Desde ahí mismo salen Transfer (valor lo desconozcoque te lleva al observatorio si es que no andas en vehículo

Demasiado increíble!!! Se ve espectacular y se logra apreciar muy bien todo, nuestro guía fue Eduardo, un 7!!! Nos tuvo demasiada paciencia, explicó todo muy detalladamente y con humor. Encontramos genial que tengan guías tan jóvenes e instruidos, nos fuimos felices, aprendimos mucho y recomendamos 100% el tour 🥰

Las entradas están carísimas... finalmente uno paga solo por una charla y para q un guía te muestre las estrellas con un puntero láser, mismas estrellas que puedes mirar del patio de la casa, sin ninguna diferencia. El telescopio principal no se puede utilizar y tampoco hay muestra audiovisual. O sea, la mitad de las cosas que ofrecen... tampoco se preocupan de la atención, mínimo por ese precio regalar un cafecito o unas galletas

Excelente experiencia la recomiendo al 100% si es primera vez que vas debes primero reservar tu cupo en la página web del observatorio, una vez hecha tu reserva (no te cobran para estodeberás ir a la plaza que es la dirección que te sale en el mapa a pagar tu ticket (con la reserva la listaahí te informaran en que horario sale una van que te lleva al observatorio o si vas en vehículo propio deberás seguir en carabana esta van para llegar al lugar. Cuando yo fui ahora en abril 2022 el pago del ticket era a las 7 de la noche y 7:30 ya salio la van al observatorio. Lo recomiendo al 100% es una experiencia unica

Si bien es cierto por la pandemia no se puede ver bien el observatorio, la verdad no me gustó, el guía sabe bastante nos explicó muy bien, pero en general todo se basa con mirar el cielo y con un telescopio manual que no se ve muy bien. Lo que mejoraría seria lo siguiente; que hubiera una mejor recepción a la llegada tal vez un trago de bienvenida, entregar o vender algún souvenir, tener uno o mas de un fotógrafo que nos tome fotos con el cielo de fondo. Eso vendería mejor, bastante aburrido.

Hoy en día es diferente por la pandemia que atraviesa nuestro país. Puedes observar la luna y las estrellas desde afuera al aire libre por un telescopio más una reseña del guía que te orienta. Consejo : visitar el lugar cuando la luna esté en fase pequeña , mucha luz lunar pierdes de ver algunas estrellas .

Muy bonita experiencia, fuimos en auto propio, te espera una van blanca con baliza en la plaza y debes seguirla por 20 min hacia el observatorio. Hay que estar muy pendientes para no perderse.La guía Ivonne muy agradable, respondía todas las dudas y hasta sacamos fotos de la luna.Experiencia inolvidable, pero me hubiera gustado ver más cosas en el telescopio grande.

Maravillosa experiencia para conectar con el cosmos profundo apreciando la belleza de los cielos nocturnos del Valle del Elqui. Lástima que la cúpula central estaba cerrada, pero aquello no amainó el estar ahí y ser parte del tour. Me hubiera gustado que se hablara más de la historia del lugar y el origen del observatorio para que fuera más inmersiva la charla y no tan expositiva con datos teóricos.

Me gustó mucho la experiencia. Se ve el cielo super limpio de contaminacion por lo que pudimos ver Venus, Saturno y Júpiter. Además vimos algunas estrellas. Fuimos en un tour con laserenatour.cl y nos costó 28.000 por persona. Incluía traslado y entrada al observatorio (desde La Serena). Para quien le guste este tipo de actividades es excelente.

Creo que una de las mejores cosas fue el relato del astrónomo, muy pedagógico y amigable. El lugar permite una vista al cielo impresionante, un cielo lleno de estrellas, además de estar ubicado en un lugar que se caracteriza por avistamientos de ovnis, entrega de manera peculiar un misterio sobre el tema. 👍🧡

Si vienen al observatorio deben confirmar las entradas antes de llegar al lugar,se acaban muy rápido,ya están vendidas hasta el 25 de septiembre...vicuña,valle del elqui

Did a stargazing trip here. Skies werent particularly dark. Ok if you have very little knowledge of the night sky.

We really enjoyed the tour. Got to see Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s moons and many constellations. The guide was very knowledgable and spoke very good English. We also listened to a few presentations which were mind-blowing. It cost CLP 20,000 for two of us including transfer to and from Vicuna. If you then need travel onwards by bus be aware that the tour gets you back between 21:00-21:30 and many of the last buses are at 21:30. We very nearly missed our last bus but asked the transfer to stop near the bus station for us and we just made the bus as it was exiting the station. You have to go to the ticket office that’s near the Torre Bauer in the afternoon to sign up for the tour later that evening. You then return to the office at 18:00 to confirm and pay, weather dependent. At around 18:30 you get the transfer and the tour starts just after 19:00 and finishes around 21:00.

Great place to see stars and learn about the doy

The ticket will cost you 7000 CLP. If you have your own car it is perfectly possible to drive to the actual Observatory on your own, it takes 15min from one place to the other. I belive there is also a shuttle service available that departs not far away from the Office, but you would need to ask about that. The guy at the Office speaks English a little, I spoke Spanish "nada" and yet we managed just fine. PS: The Mamalluca is amazing.

- Do not go here - we paid to look through the big telescope. And the big telescope wasnt working. Besides the telescope not working there was a tired, unfriendly and annoying tour guide.These people are trying to cheat you out of your money and they should be ashamed of themselves. The people writing the fake 5* reviews are even worse. Hope they read this and laugh for taking my money. They make a shame out of other great tours that we did in Chili and give the business a bad name.

If you are in vicuna or La Serena, Chile a must. Very well explained and have the opportunity to see some stars and learn your way around the celestial sky. Best 7 days after full moon.

Horrible system.This place requires you to reserve tickets in advance, yet you have to go half an hour before your observatory tour starts to pick up your tickets, so far so good?Nope, when you arrive there will be a queue of people and most of them wont have a reservation and the people who work there will take them anyways (in fear of being treated as mean for not taking customers with no reservationwhich causes the people with a reservation to wait for around 40 minutes, when they could just sell you the tickets when you make the reservation...or have two queues...or sell them online...unlimited options!We even had an older woman cutting the line twice, taking a very long time and when we had enough and told her to have some respect for other peoples time she said "learn to live life...you are young" I guess if you know how to live, skip lines, and have no respect for others maybe go there and you will have a great experience for me it was not.Also the observatory was cheap but you get what you paid for, very crowded and tired tour guides, we where lucky to join an English tour with a great guide but most experiences are not like that.

It was close when I went because of the weather.

as a novice to our night skies the tour at mamalluca was excellent. the skies were very clear and we were lucky that the planets and moon were in good locations for our visit so we had a lot to see. our guide was excellent and the photos by our mobile phone using the manual telescope were outstanding.

Marvelous, astronomical experience. Something impossible to realize can even be. A gift x your eyes and knowledge.

This is the municipal office where you reserve and pay for your tickets to the Mamalluca Observatory. Staff is not very helpful nor very friendly. There is no restroom in this public office.

Fantastic sky and great guide

The installation are great, but the guide was terrible. He even presented his own theories about the fake moon landing.

Good equipment but the groups are too large (we had about 15 in our groupand you end up getting rushed and dont really get to enjoy the experience. We also visited pangue observatory, which was so much better with its small groups (we had 5and better location away from the light polution of vicuna.

This place is incredible. Our guide was so knowledgeable and funny! He was passionate and his passion was contagious! What an amazing experience.

Nice observatorio with interesting informations. The group sizes are quite big. So you have to wait very long to get a look through the telescope.
