Ocean World Adventure Park, Puerto Plata in Neiba

One of 4 stops on Carnival Horizon. Ocean 🌏 was amazing 🎉! Beautiful & clean grounds. Many areas to see: dolphins 🐬, sea lions & birds 🦜. A pool & private beach plus a snorkel tank. You can swim with nurse sharks as well. Loved the day we spent here. Food & drinks were delicious also🍹. Will, definitely, return👍

It is a nice place to visit. We were there with a cruise excursion. We bought the interaction with Sea Lion, Dolphins and Sharks. We were waiting for our chance to take pics and interact with animals. We didnt have a chance to do much. We did swim with sharks so it was well worth it for me. The rice and bean was over the top.

Did the vip tour offered through a carnival excursion and it was so fun! Our guide tried to get us through all the activities while we were there and it definitely was worth visiting!

The place is small. Without doing the dolphin or sea lion encounter, there is not much to do. The shows are only 15 mins. People start to set 20 mins before the show. The shark show is very boring which is only for guest to take photo with sharks. If you come with MSC cruise, the ticket / excursion does not come with buffet lunch. The buffet will be $18 per person. (The ticket normally sold with buffet lunch, but not with MSC excursion). The excursion is from 9:30-3:30, very long and after 1 there is probably nothing to do but wait at the bar or restaurant.

Truly a very beautiful place to spend the day. Never enough time to take it all in. Amazing service and hospitality.

Great time in Ocean World. They have cute shows. Dolphin & shark encounters. A nice pool are. We got free lunch with our tickets. Food was ehhh, not that good. We did enjoy our time there.

Avoid the restaurant buffet. Prices are not posted and when we inquired we were told $10 per person. I even confirmed it in Spanish. Only afterward it turns out to be $15. A lunch for two of ordinary buffet quality was over $40. The park itself is very clean and enjoyable although it really is a tourist trap.

Ocean World was a lot of fun. There are plenty of activities to do. Shark, Dolphin, Sea Lion and Bird Shows, swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling with tropical fish and even a small water park with a few slides, a pool and a water trampoline. We were mainly here for the dolphin swim but checked out the dolphin show and the waterpark as well. The swimming with the dolphins was phenomenal. The trainers were very friendly and the dolphins were amazing. They do several different interactions with the dolphins but by far the coolest one was getting pushed on the foot by the dolphin while riding a boogie board. Very unique. They have several shops and a restaurant on premises as well.There were a few things however which led me to give this 4 rather than 5 stars and I hope that the owners will take the constructive criticism well and make their park even better! So the most frustrating part of the park for me was the lockers. They are old school lockers which have a lock and key, the key has to be purchased from the upstairs bar. We had 50 people in our bus from the cruise and there were several other buses that came at the same time. Naturally, everyone went to try and rent a locker first. This caused a huge line at the bar for lockers which is cutting into your bar revenue since your staff were trying to reduce the line from the lockers. Additionally the lockers were cash only. You cannot use a credit card to rent one... For me, bringing cash to a water park is not the greatest of ideas and I only had a credit card with me. They do have an ATM but we waited 30 mins in line just to find out the lockers were cash only and I didnt want to go to the ATM just to wait on the line again so we kept our bag with us. It would be much better for the patrons, the staff, and even the owners if they were to invest in a modernized locker system that can be purchased via e-terminals, with cash or card in the locker area. This would also prevent a line at the bar for lockers which would increase your revenue from selling drinks since the staff would be free to serve the patrons vs working the locker line. And it would also increase your revenue from the lockers since more people would be able to purchase them with credit card and not have to wait on a long line. This also frees up the patrons time to do other events in the park or spend more money at shops and restaurants. I really feel it would be in yours, and your patrons best interest to modernize the lockers!Lastly I have to mention my concerns about the water park. The slides are in desperate need of maintenance/repair. The stairs leading up to the slides are worn and have jagged edges that can easily slice your foot open and the slides themselves are leaking and have visible holes in the sides of the plastics of the slides. The plastic looks very thin and flimsy to begin with, once I saw the holes that was enough for me to not want to ride them anymore. Seems very unsafe.The dolphins are the star of Ocean World. Definitely be sure to do the dolphin swim experience. They have a photo lab that takes pictures and videos during the encounter that can be purchased and sent to your email after. Swimming with the dolphins has been the highlight of the trip for me and the dolphins at the show were also amazing!We wish that we had more than the allocated time we had to explore the other features of the park, but what we did was very fun. Amazing experience, we did the dolphin swim and it was worth it. The shows were brief and fun. The food was excellent, it was the best food I had for my vacation. :0 it is worth spending the entire day at this park.

Great place with lots to do and see with the animals. The food unfortunately was subpar, wish there was authentic Dominican foods other than fries, hot dogs and buns. The snorkeling area was fun though it would be more efficient to.list out the instructions of reading the rules, showering then coming to grab vest and mask so theres no long line of confused people. Drinks were ok, not too mnay great options. Very disappointed that after the entrance price you pay for the park and dolphin encounter you dont get to take your own pictures with them. The water slides were great and friendly staff overall.

The place is definitely worth it. It is a bit chaotic but as long as you stay with your group you will be fine. Staff is nice and upbeat and very helpful. We actually got lost from our group and some of the other guides helped us fund our way back and the staff for the sea lions saw us come in and were a little shaken and assured us that they would make sure we would get everything in. I definitely recommend this place but just make sure that you stay with your group and pay attention because things move quickly and theyre a lot of people there.

We had a great time at Ocean World! The dolphin show was our favorite! The trainers were spectacular at putting on a show. The place was very clean and had great places to take photos. We enjoyed all the animals and fishes. The entire family had a great time, worth the visit!

I read tons of negative reviews about this place and I’m so glad I didn’t listen to them. It was SO much fun!! We did the dolphin encounter, went to the water park, had a great lunch and bonus— my 18 year olds got to order their first drink their bar! 🤣My youngest loved the water slides and the bird cage where love birds hung out and ate seed out of your hand. We have some great photos from that. Never caught a show— but could watch it from the lunch/bar spot.Do not hesitate to spend a day here! There’s so much for everyone and I’ll have lasting memories forever!

BEST VISIT EVER ON A CRUISE - A MUST SEE AND DO! We chose to pet the sharks and YES, these are real sharks and YES you will be protected. It was worth every single cent. >Entire place spotless, clean restrooms, food available and very pleasant staff. Would love to visit again to be with dolphins. Dont miss the free parrot and other bird love available to all guests!

An unforgettable experience interacting with marine life up close and personal.I opted for the all-access pass when I came here as to get the most of my travels in the Dominican, and this Ocean world didn’t disappoint.Each of the many animal attractions bring something different for guests to enjoy. I particularly enjoyed the Dolphin VIP experience where you get to kiss, hug, dance, and even enjoy a ride across the lagoon with a dolphin pushing you along. It was a fantastic experience.Other very cool experiences included feeding and meeting very energetic Patagonian Sea Lions, the shark and stingray encounter where you get to hold a shark on your lap before hopping into the water with them and stingrays, and visiting the bird aviary where you will get to enjoy a variety of tropical avian life landing on you and making a hole in your favourite t-shirt! There are also iguanas and flamingos to see at the park too.The staff all seemed very well trained and guide you through these encounters so theres no need to worry if your squeamish about any of the animals here.They also put on multiple shows each day such as the Dolphin Show, Shark Show, Sea Lions Show, and the Tropical Bird Show so there is always something to do or watch.For us, round-trip travel to the park was easily available direct from our hotel, which was very comfortable and safe.

We had the best time, it was excellent better than what we expected. The only thing I didnt like was that they didnt include soda or water with the buffet lunch. But I wont penalize them for that. Overall great experience will be back soon.

Amazing! We did the deep water with the dolphins and it was so memorable!!!! We had so much fun learning about the dolphins and interacting with them. The aviary was so much fun! We loved every minute of the entire park. Wish we had more time there!

Did a tour here with the cruise line for the sea lion adventure. It was a great experience. We were pleasantly surprised of how beautiful the resort was. We were able to see several other shows, swim with fish and then enjoy lunch and drinks. The place is very clean. The staff was great and all of the drinks were very fairly priced. Definitely recommend this place

Went to Ocean World via an excursion on our cruise. We loved it! The animals are well taken care of, the staff friendly, and over all experience was great. They really do care about the environment and the animals that live there. You can tell the staff love the animals and treat them with respect. Our favorite parts were feeding the love birds and being able to see dolphins while walking around. Would recommend and do again!

This park was a great get away from the birds yo the Dolphins. There was a snafu in our photo delivery but staff contacted us and straightened it all out. Fun place.

Go here! The dolphin experience is amazing!! The animals are so smart. Make sure you sit in the front of both the bird and sea lion shows!! They are must sees!!

Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Service at the bar and restaurant was a little slow, but they also looked frustrated with impatient guests. I think Covid had them a little understaffed...much like the rest of the world.

Its worthy!! Extremely beautiful to expend the whole day with family and friends, just make sure to be there early in the morning to enjoy it. Be aware, that beverages are not included in the buffet, not even water and theyre expensive. They take plenty pictures throughout the day, during every show or encounter, so you have the option to buy them. However even when they offered the price in dollars, they make the charge in Dominican pesos. We paid for the encounter with the dolphins, were the pictures plus a video was US$70 total for the package we chose. They take advantage of it and said that the equivalent to US$1 are RD$57, when one dollar is worth RD$55... for consequence the final charge in my credit card was almost US$73. If youre advertising a price in dollars, take the payment in dollars and dont make it to your convenience, cause most clients have international credit cards.

Fun day, staff exceptionally eager to please. Very clean and well cared for. We saw several nice shows and they even allowed guest to participate at times. A casual lunch was provided as well.

I was on vacation in puerto plata where we had the opportunity to do the dolphin swim. This was an experience to remember. They are such adorable animals and it was amazing getting to hug them and have them give you a kiss and just be in the water with them all in all.We seen the shark show which was very short and I personally wouldn’t pay for the shark encounter, super short and they just sit them on your lap in the water (this is also the show)I wasn’t able to see the sea lion show but heard it was the best.The love birds attraction was also so amazing! They give you bird food and the birds just surround you and land all over you, it was the cutest thing. The parrots were adorable and your able to hold them. They also have Toucans which was super cool!The private beach is small but also very cute and the water felt great. The food is just a small buffet but the food was ok. I would recommend visiting this place if your in the area and have a few hours to spare. Not quite a must see place unless your doing the dolphin encounters but it is cute.

The place was awesome we had a great time. The staff was great and they try to do the best they can, they deal with some very rude and disrespectful people so that can get to anyone of us.

Been to this place twice and enjoyed my time there just as much the second time as the first. The animals seemed to be enjoying themselves too. So all us animal lovers can rest at night knowing that visiting this place doesnt bring any negative treatment. The handlers really care for their animals. Go and enjoy, have fun, and make wonderful memories.

If you go to Ocean World, you must do the various encounters. They are definitely worthwhile. Lost one star because food at the buffet was meh. Lost the second star because this area is not good for people who are handicap assisted. A lot of walking to get from place to place. Needs to have wheelchairs there to help those in need. Was very disappointing and a waste of money because of that because it could have been a really great experience...

Really nice experience. Family did the shallow water dolphin encounter. Kids are 9 & 10, I think they would have liked the deep water swim more. The focus seems very much photo encounter. Dolphins are incredibly trained and park is very nice. They have a great beach and water park. Food was also good. They have a buffet or al la carte menu. I was very impressed by the trainers and staff. They really outdid themselves. They were probably the most knowledgeable aquatic trainers I’ve encountered. They were great to the animals and guests. Really above and beyond.

Its an excellent place - I gave it 4 stars only because it is truly a family place. If my children were still small they would have loved it and the rating would be 5 stars! They have a lot of things and events to visit, like the sea lion show, dolphin show, tank snorkeling, and the gorgeous love birds. The picture is of one the friendly parrots giving me a kiss! There are lockers, changing rooms and a nice triple slide tube ride. Plenty of places for kiddies to swim and frolic, including a pool and a splash pad. They also have an excellent restaurant. Well worth the visit. But bring the kids!

Ocean World Adventure Park in Dominican Republic.A must see if you have kids.The good:- Seal, dolphin, shark and bird shows through out the day.- A giant swim tank where you are allowed to swim with the fishes and coral. (pictured)- A live interactive aviary with hundreds of birds you can feed and take photos with- Pools and man made beaches for relaxing, although, we didnt use that at all.- a 3 story water slide.- very friendly staff.The not so good:- Food was very sub-par; but this is a water park with marine wildlife, not a restaurant.

We loved the birds show, and pool. The sea lion show, shark show and dolphin show were alright . I thought this place had a real beach, however, it’s a men made water whole. And the men made water hole and the dolphin lagoon were very dirty! And the food/lunch wasn’t good.

Such a great experience! And swimming with the dolphin was so amazing. Thank you Ocean World for making a unique experience for my father when he wouldnt go into the water.

One of the best and most fun Carnival cruise ship excursions weve ever done! Swam with dolphins, sea lions, & sharks. Their bird habitat was awesome as well. Really glad we came here.

Had a really fun time. Sea lion show was the best. Cute little man made beach inside and my kids liked the water slides, which I heard you have to pay for but we did not have to pay. Maybe because it wasnt crowded. Did not care for the lunch though.

We were a party of 5 who went on a fishing trip with Mahi Mahi Tours. An excellent experience! 5 fish were landed.. exciting time when 4 fish took a line at the same time. Thanks to an experienced 1st mate, all were landed successfully. After returning to the dock, the captain fileted the fish for us... delicious!!

A unique experience to watch different marine animals perform tricks and you can actually book a personal encounter to pet and be in close contact with dolphins and more. There is a variety of animal attractions available, pools and water slides, restaurant, gift shop, snorkeling in a huge fish tank, and a simulated beach. Entrance cost per head could be a bit on the high end for locals, but its worth the experience.

This was such a fun adventure. The park has so much to do, you can swim with dolphins and sharks and even sit with sea lions. There are bird enclosures where you can walk into and feed the birds. You can swim in the pool. Snorkel. There is a restaurant w a full bar. There are multiple different packages available. The people working here were very kind and friendly. The park was so beautiful.

Great experience, highly recommended for anyone that likes water and water related activities.You can tell they are still trying to figure out how to deal with the larger crowds, but only minor issues. (You can get your pictures online people, calm down! Dont waste your time in line, enjoy the park, that is what you paid for after all.)We swam with the dolphins in the VIP package. If youve never done this before, it is worth every penny. Amazing experience and amazing animals.Note:Souvenirs were significantly less expressive here, albeit still overpriced. $5 for large coffee, $10 for cheap larimar earrings, $6 snow globes, etc.

Great experience. First of all the registration was very easy I bought the tickets at the desk and to my surprise very offordable when I looked online I was prompted with a higher price than at the front desk. We got the day pass which includes the dolphin, sharks, sea lions and bird shows. It also includes snorkeling if I am not mistaken and going in the pirate pool( you will have yo pay additional to take pictures with the animals if that is not included in the package you buy). Our favorites were the bird and the dolphin show which was the best. They also provide one meal they have 3 different options and they offer you all of them if you want. Also the alcoholic beverages were not expensive me and my husband got piña coladas for just 5 dollars ( I dont know about the other beverages). Overall wonderful experience I would definitely recommend.

This was a fun excursion. The Bird Show is good. The Sea Lions are good, the Sharks are good. And the Dolphins are good too. These animals looks to be very well maintained, theyre all so healthy looking.👍

The treatment is really nice. The personnel is very knowledgeable, kind and willing to help. Since we are in a pandemic they are making sure to follow safety protocols, keeping distance, and educating the visitors. Ocean World is very organized. Based on what I saw, the animals are being taken care of, being fed properly and the trainers give them love. The are only four food options for the basic package, burguer, two types of pasta and fried chicken with fries (soda includedFood is average, and you have to pay extra for drinks, and water. Water slides are really cool and soft. Overall, it was nice experience. Not the best, but nice.
