Ocean Hai in Clearwater
Description
Privilege
Fancy restaurant, sitting outside, you will have a beautiful sunset view at clear water beach. The foods are pretty good, service is great. Only issue is all dishes very salty, otherwise it deserves 5 Star.
MoreBeautiful atmosphere, exquisite food, and excellent service. One of the many places my children and I dined at during our stay at Wyndham and we all thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
MoreAmazing dining experience. Our waiter was so friendly and had a very fun personality. The food and drinks were amazing!
MoreAmazing Asian fusion food. We were so impressed. And to have the perfect view of the sunset by the water across the street? It was perfect
MoreRestaurant was nice, pretty good ambiance, but food was okay. Cocktails were okay. Brussels were okay. I got the curry noodles and they were okay, flavorless, especially the tofu. Wine selection wasn’t great. Our server seemed to have forgotten about us even though they weren’t very busy. Espresso martini was just okay.
MoreToday my boyfriend and I had a quick lunch before out flight and Michael was our waiter. He was fantastic, attentive, polite and funny. As someone who worked in the food industry I was super pleased! thanks so much Michael you rock !!
MoreAmazing place! View an food, everything. Special thanks to our waitress Lorraine!
MoreSo positives:Great service. Our waiter Raul was fantastic, kept our water topped off every few minutes. Very knowledgeable on the dishes and flavor profiles. Friendly and courteous. The apps are pretty great, the Brussels and potstickers were tasty. Also the chocolate dessert was fantastic, but not really "asian" fusion compared to some of the other options. The bad:Mains were fairly bad. The veggie crispy tofu lo mein was essentially flavorless. Veggies were fine, but the sauce on the noodles had no flavor (not even salty with soy sauce...). The crispy tofu was crispy, but also totally plain, not even salted again. Also had the salmon. For 30 dollars expected a bit more, but the flavor wasnt awful. Surprised there was no crispy skin at this price point. The base of pureed butternut squash tasted good but didnt really jive with the rest of the dish.Pricing was absolutely too high for the food quality and quantity. People complaining about the tip are idiots, our servers get paid next to nothing so 18% guaranteed is great.
MoreGreat asian fusion restaurant located within the Wyndham Grand resort. Very nice variety of food options with exceptional friendly, accomodating staff. Mornings they offer a fantastic breakfast buffet with made to order omellette station, and a huge variety of fresh choices....french toast, eggs, meats, blintezs, pastries, breads, fresh fruits, oatmeal, yogurt etc. Very good value and price. Highly recommend!
MoreJohn our server was great! He was friendly and very informative of menu items or questions we had. The food and drinks were amazing!
MoreSpent $120 on sushi and crab Rangoon for me and my wife. This is our honey moon trip and we ate at this restaurant twice. First time wasn’t so bad, the salmon was good but you only got the piece of salmon with a bouquet of flowers on the side. The volcano sushi was dry but decent. Spent around $90 the first visit and was appalled when I saw the $120 bill the second trip. Food was definitely not worth the price, but the service was great.
MoreFood here is terrible... paid $30 bucks for this wagyu dish ( more like london broil)... Take a look at the pic and judge for yourself and tell me if it was worth it.
MoreFood was great but the atmosphere and service needs work.Cons:1. For a party of two people, 19% gratuity automatically added. This makes one assume wait staff to be very attentive but not quite. We were never offered refill on water and out of two hours, 70% was spent waiting.2. This restaurant is white table cloths and far from casual dining, we went there because it is supposed to be one of Clearwater Beachs most upscale restaurants. However, children were permitted to run around, scream, and play loudly on their devices. Yes, it is attached to a hotel but that is no excuse for rambunctious kids ruining an experience when other guests are paying high dollar.Pros:Sushi and cocktails were delicious and the presentation was very thoughtful.
MoreAmazing restaurant!!! Food was delicious and exquisite. Desserts were terrific!!!The attention and ambience was fenomenal!!!Wine absolutely fine. This is a gem in Clearwater beach!!! Love to be here.
MoreWe went here for dinner without reservation but they were able to seat us right away. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and you can even see the sunset from the restaurant (the restaurant is located at wyndham hoteland across the street from the beach. Our waiter is very knowledgeable of the dish and menu.I like the twist on their alcohol drink since they corporate the asian alcohol to their cocktails drink. The serve edamame in lieu of bread which my kids devoured them. The kids love their sushi rolls and sashimi. My husband had their grouper and it was okay. I had the pho and i think it just okay.I still recommend this place for great ambience and good drinks. The mango craft beer was so good and their old fashioned as well. But they really need to work on the food seasoning.
MoreFood was awesome and outdoor seating facing the beach. Grouper, oysters and crab Rangoon
MoreCame here for there buffet breakfast hoping for vegan options in what seems clearwaters most upscale hotel on the beach. Server seemed annoyed when we asked about vegan options, so no help there. There is no menu for the cooking station, all the servers just stand around and stare, felt uncomfortable to even ask what they make, but I saw people getting pancakes? So for vegans it’s just potatoes, fruit, and oatmeal. There is bread but I can’t tell you if the bread is made with no dairy/egg. Coffee, only option is oat milk I think, no creamer. Tip is included already in check 19%, that’s probably why we couldn’t find our server, we had to give our check to the hostess to help us. It’s mediocre if your vegan, better to go spend $25 at wholefood’s because I can’t even recommend anywhere else in Clearwater, vegan breakfast up here is so scarce.
MoreWe went for dinner, party of 4. Sushi was good. The grouper was soso not much taste. The pork belly was good. Calamari was bad. 19pct tip included on the check. Waiter got upset because we ask for limes and then when he returned we asked for something else. Tip should not be included. Second time dinning here. Would not return or recommend. Expensive and no quality of food or service.
MoreHad a wonderful dinner with my wife to be here, always an incredible culinary experience, one of the best. The gawking tourists walking by the window is a little off putting but the magic of the overall experience is untarnished. Five stars
MoreOkay this restaurant is actually amazing. Really cool and interesting food choices, lovely atmosphere and the nicest servers! Also get the fortune cookie desert, it’s huge and absolutely to die for! Everything you get is amazing!
MoreThe ambience and service were good. We werent provided edamame so I cant speak to those. The 2 stars is just based off the food taste and portions to cost. Not recommended:The waygu beef pho was bland and not much to it. The beef was tender though. The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and dry.The Thai Coconut soup portion was really small for $10. The soup was really thick and flavors did not mix well. They kindly made an off menu California roll but it tasted like a tuna fish sandwich in a roll.Recommended:The chicken pot stickers were good.Oysters were pricey and small but fresh.Hat Trick sushi tasted fresh but portion is small. If you go there, recommend to just stick to appetizers and sushi. The bill was $222 for the 5 of us.
MoreFood was great! Overall I would recommend it! The beef and the peppers was so good it could be it’s own main course - I wanted to drink the sauce! Service was very good too! It should have better desserts but I ain’t mad! Go and enjoy and expect to spend $200 for two people if you have a drink!
MoreOne of the best meals we had in the area. The meatballs, crab rangooon and lychee martini were so Tasty. Highly recommend getting the waygu if that’s you’re thing. Ramen was served a little cold but other than that, the views made it all worth it.
MoreMy boyfriend and I stopped into Ocean Hai for an early dinner and we were both VERY pleased with our meal and dining experience. Our server was thoughtful and attentive. The Sake was great and the sushi was spectacular!!!
MoreLovely place for a dinner. Had Da Grand miso ramen and the vegetable curry. The ramen egg was exquisite. The vegetable curry was sweet and well balanced. Between two people we shared an order of the brussel sprouts and they were fantastic. Also, edamame was provided to the table and is a welcome addition.
MoreWe are staying in the hotel and included with our stay was the breakfast buffet for every morning. I dont consider it free since our hotel stay for 3 nights is about $1,700. Everything was going good to start. Server assistant got us water coffee and orange juice. Everything was there when we got back from the buffet. Our server approached the table and offered us mimosas. She was never seen or heard from again. We never got refills for coffee or orange juice. After waiting and waiting and waiting and had to get up from our table to find another staff member to let them know we are ready to leave and have not seen our server since the one and only visit. This staff member then had to search for her. She shows up and offers another mimosa as Im standing there waiting for our check. We then had to wait longer for her to go get the check that I had asked the other server for in the first place. Not sure we will be showing up for the other included meals due to terrible service. On top of everything there was an added gratuity! This is the issue with adding grat, bad service because they are getting a tip no matter what. Ive been in the service industry for 20 plus years. Priscilla was our terrible server.
MoreAtmosphere and service was superb! Food not so great grouper and salmon both came out hard and over cooked. Not worth the $ at all.
MoreKai was an absolute pleasure, in fact, the entire staff from hosts to chef were a delight. Decor is pleasant, views of Clearwater Beach & the sunset cannot be beat. My meal was fabulous, through all three courses, and the bar menu was both extensive and very reasonably priced. I will definitely keep Ocean Hai on my list for places to visit.
MoreSuperb service and amazing appetizer selections. Unfortunately, most of the entrée werent well made (over cooked ramen and heavy seasoning/salty0
MoreThe food was divine! My husband who can be a bit picky with sushi (but who isn’tloved everything. We sampled it all loved everything. The picture is the mango dessert.
MoreAmazing food and somehow better service!! The staff was friendly, the ambiance gorgeous and the food delicious! Seriously the best seafood Ive had in a while. I dont know what the kitchen staff is getting paid but it isnt enough!!!!
MoreWent for dinner and sat on the patio. Restaurant is right across from the beach so we got to enjoy the beach while we dined. Vegetarian friendly, vegan is more complicated. Food overall is very good. They serve complimentary edamame which is seasoned with sea salt and chili flakes and is very good. We got the grand old fashion and lychee martini which were both excellent. Vegetable spring rolls and crab Rangoon to start. Then Thai coconut soup, fried brussel sprout salad and a vegetable roll. Roll was a bit disappointing. Flavors of the soup were surprising but delicious. Only complaint was it was mostly broth. I personally thought the salad was the best thing we ordered. Absolutely out of this world. Our waiter was very attentive and never made us feel rushed. Food is a bit pricey for what you get but, again, super good. I would definitely go back and recommend to others.
MoreWe had breakfast here twice and dinner once. The breakfast is a buffet with ingredients of gas station quality. The omelette and waffle bar are great and had gluten free options. The dinner was overpriced and lacked in flavor. We were not impressed by any of the dishes. The service was good. I wish they had better/fresh ingredients
MoreMy favorite wine, waygu beef and the best chef choice sushi boat 8 course tasting. Im from Boston, MA and this fish rivaled what Ive had here at home. The talent and flavors are unlike any Ive had in sushi. I cannot wait to return.
MoreThe salmon meal is a must order. We enjoyed the sushi rolls. The grouper was disappointing and the crab Rangoon was fine.
MoreThis restaurant was amazingly so good with excellent service! We came here for our 5 year wedding anniversary. I ordered their steak, and it came with purple carrots, broccollini, and a butternut squash puree and a fried pepper on top. If you can get a bite with everything, its pure perfection. It was just perfect. The meatballs and brussel sprouts were fire! My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which was prepared uniquely. Once I tasted it, I was really impressed! Not only was everything flavorful, but it was artistic! The drinks were on point, especially the flowery drink. Dessert was perfection! Our waiter was the best. He was very helpful and suggested my favorite drink of the night. He was very attentive and had a bunch of tables, so I was impressed. It was the best night and dinner weve had out in a very long time. I definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for special occasions. Also, very important! My husband called to make sure we had cushioned seats due to my spine. They sat us at a big booth with pillows. It was very comfortable and very much appreciated.
MoreCould have been a 5, but…. We ate at Ocean Hai Christmas Eve and I want to share some feedback. I understand the service issue we are facing so I can work past the slow service - we would not see Darryl for long periods of time. What am disappointed in is the fact that we told him my wife has a shellfish allergy and he said he would make sure the food was prepared separately - we ordered 4 sushi rolls with 2 with shellfish and 2 without. Aall 4 served on the same tray with the 2 without shellfish being on the ends and Bthe rolls were touching one another. We did our best to make sure she ate only the pieces not touching but unfortunately that did not work as she became sick shortly after dinner. That leads me to believe either our server did not communicate the shellfish allergy or whoever prepared the rolls doesn’t understand what a shellfish allergy is. Either way - your staff can use some coaching up. --
MoreAmazing service, food and drinks! Ask for Kaia, he is so attentive. The drinks are exceptional, beautiful presentation with the food. We love this place. The ambiance is so pleasant, right across from the beach. The fortune cookie is a gorgeous dessert, sushi is the most fresh we’ve had in the Bay, you will truly have a great time here.
MoreIt was awesome. Love food and service was great as well.Just want to add to my post. After my kid had chicken tenders at this place he was asking me about them every day afterwards.
MoreThe food was delicious, the service perfect. In my experience Hotel’s restaurants are expensive but Ok. Ocean Hai change my perspective about it. Is not cheap but is because the food is outstanding.
MoreFound this restaurant among a list of fine dinning options. Amex concierge helped me to book this for birthday celebration. Although the price is $$$, the environment and service are on next level. Well worth the money. We ordered vegetable spring rolls, Wagyu Beef & Pepper for beginning. Both were very tasty and you should try it. Other dishes ordered: vegetable Pad Thai + tofu, Misoyaki Salmon. All dishes were tasty and creative, and the restaurant is a must try in Clearwater beach.
MoreThis is a review from someone who visited on a rainy day, so no great views of the sunset since we had to dine inside. The food was ok, not great. We had the volcano and hi-roller sushi rolls. The tip is 19% and it’s already included. We were only two people. No one explained it could me modified, and it’s uncomfortable to ask because one would ask the waiter and it’s his tip. This is not ok from the restaurant. Overall, too expensive for what it is.
MoreNice location, close by the water. Indoor and outdoor seating although I sat inside because it was too humid out. The food was good but a bit overpriced for what it was. The deserts were just okay, I didnt really feel the Yuzu, it was like a cheap version of a cheesecake. The Pad Thai was overpowered with lime, its best to put it on the side. Ambiance was superb thats why Im giving it 4 starts and not 3.
MoreThe restaurant was very clean and serves was nice and dessert was pretty good but the appetizer and meal were not too standard at all and extremely overpriced! It did not seem fresh at all! $68.76 was my total!
MoreCustomers service was great, beautiful atmosphere, food was beautifully presentable but the taste was way off, and overly price otherwise I would give it a 5 stars.
MoreThe food was delicious, and the atmosphere was amazing. However, despite going there in the middle of the week (off-peak times), it took 20 minutes of waiting at the podium for anyone to acknowledge that I was standing there waiting to be seated. Later, it took another 30 minutes of standing in the valet area before anyone realized I was there waiting for my car. Their very delicious portions are quite small for the price comparatively.
MoreOcean Hai will always feel like home. The service is amazing, shout out to Raul and Shane who are amazing and well versed. Shane answered all our questions and made our stay feel like an experience not just a dinner. The food was fantastic. Every dish was perfectly cooked and delicious. Nana, the head chef, made sure everything came out perfectly. Hogan, the pastry chef, made a beautiful plate of desserts for my birthday with all the desserts we ordered. Each item was delicious and exotic; we’ve never had anything like it. There was a smile on every face in the restaurant. The views are unmatched and made for relaxation and romance. Overall, the staff is friendly and efficient, the food is beautiful and delicious, and the experience is unique. I’ll always make a stop and recommend Ocean Hai to everyone who has an opportunity to visit. This truly is a 5 star experience at a 4 diamond restaurant!
MoreGREAT VEGAN OPTIONS. If there are not any, they will make something amazing for you. Andrew was our amazing server. He recommended the modified Red Dragon roll with the modified Brussel Sprouts salad. He spoke to the chef and they made me an amazing vegan Lo Mein with veggies and rice noodles. AMAZING! Flavors off the hook.
MoreDelicious, Unusual, and Unexpected Japanese-Themed Restaurant.Festive and modern ambience with excellent beach and ocean views. Tasty and varied food items. Excellent and prompt service. Ask for Andrew, and he will take very good care of you.Whether you are wanting sushi, steak or seafood, prepared with a Japanese flair, you can enjoy this excellent seaside restaurant located in the Wyndham Hotel in Clearwater Florida. You can eat indoors or al fresco with both dining areas comfortable and beautiful.
MoreTo start we were welcomed with a warm greeting from the hostess to our table outside which is equally as beautiful as the inside seating, our server Halle was very knowledgeable of all the dishes on the menu and was never far away and very attentive to our needs and made sure we were happy with everything. The food was on point with flavors and presentation, it was the best meal me and my fiancee have had so far on our vacation in Clearwater and will definitely be back to try more of the menu😋😋😋😋😋
