Ocean Basket Stellenbosch in Noorder-Paarl

Im a Durbanite who lives Ocean basket food. Got here starving only to find out its closed. My old aged mum was unbearably hindgu and excite excitedly to eat here. Devastated.

Mentioned on Google Maps, but it doesnt exist. We went to the address tonight, but apparently Ocean Basket closed here. The owner should take care that the information at Google Maps is correct. I addressed it directly to Google tonight.

My gifriend and I went every month as a special date to Stellenbosch Ocean Basket for the delicious platter for 2. Everytime we went it was amazing.Last month we planned to go and it looked as though you had closed down. We were absolutely devastated. We really hope that you guys are just renovating or are planning to open somewhere in the Stellenbosch area again. As students it was such a treat to just walk and have a great meal and a great price.

Good food and good prices. Just make sure you get the beer you ordered. Naked Mexican or Jack black on tap. Only two and they got it wrong twice in a row. Overall I love this ocean basket

55 birthday dinner with my family super effecient waitress extremely friendly and professional. sushi was not very tasty and deck platter was a bit oily for my favorite restaurant uhm wonder why

Food was amazing and we were served with a smile. Also apart from the good service we didnt even wait 15min for our food. Thank you guys

Food was great. The building inside is very run down, mucky and unkept.In desperate need of a fresh coat of paint and a really good clean. Tables arent cleared for quite a while after guests have left. Atmosphere is cold and rather unwelcoming. Staff was great and enjoyed the food

Food was as expected but there were a million cockroaches running between our feet outside; it was nasty... should really do something about that.

Recently visited Ocean Basket Stellenbosch, the food came - amazingly well prepared and load shedding kicked in... the manager quickly organised a generator and went to every table to apologise for any inconvenience caused and assured that they can still order food. This guys, this is amazing service. She deserves more credit than I can give!

Takes their time getting to your order but they still deliver. I decided to test the among of oil they use in Platter For One having everything fried, they did excellently in giving it a fresh crumbed taste without excess oil, especially with the fried hake portion which is served with its own special sauce, no extra oil ran into it that I could see...

Located in the center of Stellenbosch at the Stellenbosch Eikestadt Mall, it is as enjoyable as all ocean baskets, with its own outside courtyard and outside sitting area. It is part of the vibrant Stellenbosch environment.

Great atmosphere. The food is also wonderful, great value for the service. The area is large enough to hold many people.

I have eaten at a lot of OB before, but this branch was NOT up to standard.- we entered the restaurant no one was there to greet (only 1 table occupied with customers)- we walked in, right through to the bar at the end, no manager greeted, no one even took notice of us besides 1 guy in his private clothes who then took us to a table. Gave us the menu, changed into his uniform and took our order. The waiter really tried his best to give us a super service.he did get tipped well.-as I said only 1 other table, when our food arrived it was cold.-2 managers on shift, but half of the tables not set, even after 40 min no one really did anything including managers who drank coffee watching sports or on their cell phones.-after dinner I went outside for a smoke, waiters then stood and waited to greet customers, however he was playing with his phone while bringing customers to the table-everything was untidy unorganized and just not pleasant. Food not to Ocean basket standard.Clearly a management problem !! Very disappointing dinner.

For a franchise, this Ocean Basket branch blows the rest away. Their food tastes like an independant seafood restaurant, rather than just another franchise

They had no sushi last Friday.... 😔 But we always go there for the best seafood too.

Food is okay...been there twice since I generally LOVE Ocean Basket...but both service and food is a far cry from what I am accustomed to in Durban. My daughter studying at Stellenbosch...went there on her birthday...mentioned twice to the staff that it was my daughters birthday...not even a happy birthday song for my baby girl. Yet in Durban we are treated like royalty on birthdays at ANY Ocean Basket! Place is clean and well-maintained. Needs more atmosphere though...ambience

Great venue, location, staff, mgt, atmosphere. Loses 1 point because I frequently eat at Ocean Basket Cape Gate and the calamari heads, as well as the mussels are nearly 3 times the size, so Stellies could do better.

Slow service, manager nowhere to be found, food wasnt what we ordered, birds in the restaurant, no salt on table, we didnt have the wooden placemats on the table. Waiter didnt seem to be bothered with our table. We wanted sushi for starters and the waiter said but we cant order sushi because the chef is on lunch and he doesnt know when the chef will return. Very disappointed

Nice cozy restaurant with kids play area. Their family platter definitely caters for my whole family (2 adults and 4 kidswhich i think is value for money. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your freshly prepared food.

Great value seafood. Dont expect a high end dining experience. Superb friendly staff.

Food quality is excellent but they are a bit slow with getting the food out of the kitchen. Drinks orders also takes too long and the waiters dont service the tables regularly.

The service can be rated about 4 starts how ever the prawns quality is very inconsistent and standards differ. Had 2 experiences where prawns are though. The next thing is the fish is mostly good but again the consistency is questionable.

I had a bad experience at Ocean Basket in Hermanus a few years ago and, after that, stayed away from all Ocean Baskets. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I used Mr Delivery to deliver an Ocean Basket meal to me. The food was done to perfection, and the salad was really crisp and fresh, with LOADS of feta cheese and onions in. Well done!

Pathetic.....only one choice of desserts, except for ice cream. Ask waiter why and the answer was that they could not make it because the ingredients were not ordered. Definitely not up to standard.....

Basa and rice! With extra garlic butter sauce! Always! Never disappointed! Staff also always helpful and try to do extra upon requests.

In the heart of the University Town of Stellenbosch. Good professional service in a relaxing environment. Food well prepared.

This chain resturant, it is in almsot every town in the country. Its a safe bet if you want to have a seat and have a chat with friends or family. For many it will be something you know and thats good. If you are visiting from out of town and you are a little anxious about trying strange places, this will be be place for you.Personally I loooove the calamari 3 way, it always hits the spot. They also serve sushi as well as give you the option of the bread, garlic, chili and tar tar sauce before the main meal.The service is just fine and I will go back when I feel like some sea food. I believe the best way to get a feel for a place is to go there and have a sit down. Order your favorite from the menu and dig in. The beer options are limited unfortunately, but I guess thats the chain resturant rules. I would have really liked to sip on a craft beer (the naked Mexican is not a craft beerwhilst chowing down on my calamari 3 way.

Waiter was not unfriendly, but extremely quiet and shy.Butter has been replaced by margarine, for the bread and for the sauce of the grilled fish. Making for an overall cheap and unpleasant experience.One of the beers we ordered was also badly off.The manager seemed indifferent.

Came in just after 4pm looking forward to having some sushi and was told that there sushi chef is on lunch and won’t be back for about an hour... this is utter garbage... for some place that is meant to be great is horrible... mean while the two managers on duty are busy shouting and arguing right in front of us.This place is unprofessional and this will be the last time I visit ocean basket Stellenbosch.

I go there to have meals food is very good and reasonably priced. Service you receive from waiters is excellent.

The variety of fish is delicious and plenty; and whatever you ask for will be served generously at a reasonable price.

Always get good fish and service here. Were here once when not open yet and they offered drinks so long. So many places dont give that curtisy.

Firstly this joint doesnt have the signature "home-made" bread appetizer that the franchise is synonymous for, the warm bread that brings one to a sense of nostalgia with its "Oumas kitchen aeroma", the bread thats usually served with butter, garlic, olive oil while you wait for your food and drinks to be served.Instead they serve some buns that look like theyve been bought from the local grocery store.Secondly, the Staffs attitude leaves very little to be desired with their lack of Customer courtesy and their "Im doing you a favour-type of demeanor." which seems to be cascading from management as the manager kept waltzing in and out of the restaurant without any concern at all of some customers.Ive been to many OB restaurants across the country and really have to say this one is PATHETIC to say the least.

Great place to have dinner. Great food for an affordable price! The only problem is that the chairs are not so comfortable, but otherwise everything is excellent.

The PrincePrawns were fantastic. Also the sushi was really good. The design and optics are a bit dated and they began moving up the chairs as we were sitting there...

The food was amazingly fresh, their platter by freshness tasted much better than most platters I have had fron this chain of restaurants across the country.The staff was great especially our waiter, Turbulence is his name 😂😂😂 I couldnt stop calling him 😆😆😆 the name just killed me 😂😂😂
