OR2K - Vegetarian restaurant in Kathmandu, Nepal
One of the best - you will come again
Good food, cosy place to sit. Good music. Friendly atmosphere
I think the rating of this place really depands on what you came for - we came on the Deshain holiday evening, just to drink something and have a snack. The food was ok (we took the bigger combo for the 2 of us), nothing to write home about, but not bad. However, we really enjoyed to sit there with our hot drinks, and we also liked their version of hello to the queen. So overall - great place to come and chill, especially if it rains :not a must culinary experience.
Not our first time here , we were here about 7 year ago and had really good memories, but!!! This time food tock for ever to come out ! My husband and I did not eat at the same time coz my Buddha bowl didn’t come out for at least 45 min by then my husband had finished his dinner and the mono ( it was supposed to be our first coursecame out even latter! The lassi was not cold ! So we were a little sad that our memories of our last experience were …… 🦋
Be super careful here! Asked for vegan option and was served cow milk yogurt! Food is very expensive for the quality. Love to give plastic straws with drinks - not environmentally friendly. Very basic food. Not worth the extremely high price tag. Nan was dry and old. Good music selection was the saving grace. Food was cold. Much better vegan spots in Thamel and Kathmandu with much better prices. People smoking cigarettes in stairs right by the entrance.
We have been to this place countless times, tried so many things on the menu. You are never disappointed. Warmly recommended for any meal :)
Great atmosphere, delicious food, clean, good service. Highly recommend! Slightly pricy but was worth it.
I tried this dish was good but little spicy for my taste it is a good size for one person and the money is considerable, is a good option to come sometimes, the ambience is interesting though, sitting in the ground is nice.
If you are a fan of Mediterranean food, this place is much recommended for you to visit at least once. Again its not only a place to dine in but a place for chilling out with a group of people, meet and greet, and enjoy the lake view! Amazing experience from my visit to them!I have met a little girl and her family over there... Spent a very good time chitchatting and the late afternoon view of Phewa Lake 🥹
I love this place for the wonderful food they serve here. U can get many vegetarian yet lip smacking food options here.
2 decades plus in operation OR2K is one of the best place in ktm for Israeli cuisine... Falafel here is amazing.
We first met with or2k in Pokhara and liked the food and the views very much thats why we again tried it Kathmandu. My spagetti was tasty but it was warmish thats why I give one star less.
Amazing place. Very delicious food and great service by Anil. Price is very reasonable. Worth visiting and experiencing sit down dinner.
Well, this place is totally a good place to hangout. It has different seating arrangements too, (high tables, and small cross- legged cooking area). The food is okay.
Food was okay-ish. The organic salad i bought was just some leaves and some little goat cheese. It was good but too expensive for it.Otherwise, the ambience is really nice. And i love the fact that you can sit on the floor. Maybe next time i will feel better there.
Wonderful place to chill and eat great food!
OR2K has expanded its menu once again as COVID restrictions have lessened . . . so welcome back!! Both vegetarian and vegan options are available as well as a great ambience~the curtains are brilliant colorful saris. The guests who visit are amazing and the conversations even more so.Experience Nepali hospitality along with Middle Eastern and traditional Nepali food!
You sit on the floor FYI.Middle eastern focused place, the atmosphere was beautiful and washrooms were good.Food was great, their organic salad with goat cheese was crazy good and falafel was on point. Will be coming back before I head home
To be clear, it is not a vegan restaurant. You can find vegetarian dishes here. You need to take off shoes and sit on the floor because there are low tables. The prices cannot be considered decent. You have to pay 10% service charge. The lighting and interior of this place make it look more like a bar and less like a restaurant. If you like drinking, then it might be the place for you.
Nice meal and good service, suitable for spending an afternoon with friends . There are a variety of meals that you will be surprised when you know that it is a vegetarian place
Went at dinner time, had the OR2K combo platter (middle eastern dips, salad and breadwhich was really yummy, but its quite a lot for just one person. I also ordered the basil smash signature cocktail which was a bit too sweet for my taste, but ok. Then later, my friends came to the restaurant and the staff were really helpful with me moving tables. Had vegan Crème brûlée with camomile tea for dessert. The restaurant has a great vibe for solo travelers as well as for a group of friends, nice lounge music in the background, great wall art and cool sit-on-the-floor type of seating.
All seating is on floor cushions and you have to take your shoes off, so make sure you’re wearing your clean pair of socks 😜This bright, buzzy and ever-popular Israeli vegetarian restaurant is a favourite for fresh and light Middle Eastern dishes, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. The menu spreads to fatoush salad, zucchini and mushroom pie and ziva (pastry fingers filled with cheese), as well as a great meze sampler of hummus, felafel and labane (sour cream cheeseserved in neat little brass bowls.
Its a heaven place for vegetarian lovers...just loved the foods...service was fast and waiters were a real gentleman...visited here on this eve of new year...place was a bit crowded but got our seats managed...
We had the Or2k platter with hummus, falafel, and other samplers and the Mushroom choila was superb. There is seating on the ground and also some tables. Atmosphere is cozy. Good service.
Find the food to be pretty average. The hummus did not taste fresh and the Falafel were not cooked properly. The soup was bland with chunks of uncooked mushroom. As much as I had heard about this place,I was deeply disappointed.
Very cozy restaurant in the center of KathmanduI really really liked this cozy, relaxed place, not only for its delicious food but especially for the relaxed and cozy atmosphere. You need to take your shoes off and sit on huge pillows which makes it such a chilled place. We tried a lot of the food during our stay in Kathmandu and everything was really delicious. The menu is inspired from the middle east with Israeli dishes like hummus but also features typical Nepali food like Dhal Bhat. The restaurant is vegetarian with many options that are either vegan or can easily be veganized, e.g. plant based milk for hot drinks, gluten free options available as well. Very recommendable! :)
For vege lovers, this is a good place. But dont expect a lot of Nepali food. Its mostly middle Eastern, far Eastern styled food. But the place is excellent. Lively and nice. Not very expensive.
The place has a nice selection of food from different kitchens, the atmosphere is nice as well. The problem we encountered was that while we were eating (at 20:30the waiter suddenly gave us the bill.. this situation was a bit strange because we werent in a hurry and by giving us the bill in the middle of us having a talk he sort of forced us to start preparing to leave.. it wouldnt be so strange if he told us politely that they are closing or something(which is absolutely legit), but he just put the bill on the table silently and walked away. We actually holding ourselves not to give a smaller score just because of our respect to the sheer amount of different healthy meals the place provide and a very special atmosphere. we really hope that this was a one time accident.
Fun restaurant serving up Israeli food, pizza, salads, vegan, and other veggie food. Beautiful, if not expensive drinks. Very high quality and clean. You need to take of your shoes so just beware. We ate at the Kathmandu and Pokhara branch. Kathmandu had better food, while Pokhara had fabulous views. A definite must try. The Pokhara branch is also great for singles. It has inside and outside with good wifi in the center of town. You could hang out there all day and be comfortable.
Super nice place, warm welcome, feels local. Good was super good and tasty. Been a long time eating a nice humous like this. Portion are quite important therefore make sure you’re starving before going.
Its a great place for any kind of meal. I always come here specially for the ZURI CAKE. I love looking at their menu. Its psychedelic and handmade.I ordered white pasta once, didnt like it. Wouldnt recommend you that.Otherwise their cold coffee is great and other dishes too.
The place is located in the busy market. Has great food, with good quality and taste. The quantity of food is damn large, almost 3 people can share a single plate of food. They floor and table sitting options, clean washrooms and quick billing. Will recommend the Nepali thali here. The staff is very well mannered.
Really great ambiance! 🙌 Vegan food here is great - more options please and it will get even better! Would get 5 stars if the place was completely vegan - and would get 4 starts if they wouldn’t charge extra for soya milk. It’s 2019 now - this shouldn’t be the case anymore.Thank you - looking forward to come back and see the development next time I’m in Kathmandu! ❤️
Last friday my friend invited me to OR2K. Once I entered i was amazed by the interior design. My white shirt started illuminating by some kind of light. They are serving variety of dishes. We have enjoyed Israeli cuisine. Their staffs are well trained. We had a quality time there.
They are located on the second floor. This is a more westernized cafe even though they made you sit on the floor. They offer free WiFi. I ordered fried boiled eggs (anda fryand a banana lassi. They use paper straw for their drink, so make sure that you finish your drink fast enough as the straw will be soaky. They were both editable and did their job of filling me up!The server messed up my bill by adding 2 extra drinks on it. Please make sure that you check your bill before you pay. This place is a little more upscale, so it costs more (but not a lotto dine here. They turned on the blue lights during night time, and I saw a lot of foreigners hanging out here.
I loved the place😍😍; the place was neon light themed. They have amazing menus for the vegetarian as the place itself is veg and the food were too good 😋😋🤤. The place have good ambience and also the good hospitality.
Very good place for relaxing. Even for me as non veg. Very good Coffee, my girlfriend loves the Bowl, I liked Hummus and the hot chocolate dessert. I have to delete one star because I visited OR2K in Pokhara (was better). Me, as a big guy, I didnt fit under tue floor table. I would prefer a "normal" table like in Pokhara.
A pure veg outlet for health freaks with a soothing ambience located at the heart of the city in Thamel. The seating arrangement was different and we were made to sit on cushions on floor with small tables. The seating is inspired by the ancient ayurvedic belief that sitting on the floor helps in digestion. The food was delicious as well as healthy. The desserts were to die for. A must visit place if you are a vegetarian.
The neon light themed restaurant is such a great place to be for having a healthy vegetarian food in Thamel. Their foods are also substantial in amount and very delicious with a vegan option. If you are a vegetarian or looking for some great vegetarian options, you should definitely not miss it.P.S. I just found out that they dont serve you a glass of normal drinking water more than once.
Delicious food and good ambience. Our groups food came out staggered, in a span of 15 minutes from the first plate to the last plate - my only complaint. Otherwise, really yummy and good prices for a big portion of food!!
Excellent experience from the sitting decoration to food quality everything was ok. Pretty cozy place in heart of Kathmandu I highly recommend if you wanna have some nice breakfast and take ur time chatting with friends. Super ambiance and music also its a vegeterian place
I LOVE this place. Incredibly fresh food. Lovely ambiance with fantastic music from the past. I ordered the Julia, which was a bountiful bowl of freshness. Also has a banana lassi with coconut milk. Stellar find.
After reading the comments I was a bit disappointed when getting here. Really loud people and too much tourist oriented although it got super better once the big American group left. The food is ok though. Please be aware that the plate recommended as not spicy, guess what, is spicy! But one should be able to handle with that level of spice... The lentils soup on that plate was a bit burn, which is a big no no. Its just my first evening here but I think we passed by other nicer places with vegetarian food.
Nice place to be in thamel. As all the reviews say...best pizza in Nepal! Everything I’ve had there has been delicious. And to top it all off, the staff is also amazing! Would recommend that anyone in Thamel eats here at least once. The staffs always welcomed us with they clearly loves their restaurant and goes out of their way to make sure every guest feels welcomed! I spoke to plenty of visitors when here and hearing that they feel like their back home saying something about the quality/authenticity of the food!
This is a must in Kathmandu! We popped in just by chance after a long search of a clean restaurant, literally full of dust from the streets of Thamel. It was a magnificent surprise, clean, trendy, very well decorated, candlelight atmosphere and delicious food. We spent a pleasant night eating the Dal Bhat Thali set, the typical food from Nepal, on every menu in any restaurant in Nepal, unmissable if you want to try something local. Then, falafel that is not local but I gave it a try and it was special, butter nan bread like in India. Everything was fresh and savoury.
Great selection of middle eastern food. The portions are really big with prices that are very reasonable. Besides middle eastern, they have Nepali, eastern Asian and western options in the menu with a section on gluten free as well. The drinks options are also good, with some interesting cocktails. You seat on low tables and the ambience is nice. The service is friendly and fast.
Best vegan food in ktm. Always been my top place in ktm. Food is always fresh, clean tasting n delightful. Serving is enormous. U wil love it even if u aint a vegan. Everyone comin to ktm should come here at least once. No kidding. Best.
Foods are really good, especially the deserts. The atmosphere here is really good, its quite and comfortable..Its a vegetarian restaurant..but it serves variety of veg. foods
It was good food, had the dal bhat, Momos and small combo platter between 2. Thats enough for 3-4 hungry people but good food for sure. Prices are a pretty expensive, Very touristy, westernized menu with pizza. Not enough local Nepali items in my opinion.
Stumbled across this place online while looking for interesting restaurants, in Thamel, Kathmandu. The menu seemed intriguing and for me, a vegetarian, the thought that its a fully vegetarian restaurant was very exciting. We found the place very easily; we had been passing the building several times without being aware of Or2k. Perhaps they need to work on their signage to make it more visible? We walked up the two flights of stairs eagerly, and after taking our footwear off at the entrance, were seated facing the open windows. Mid day sun streamed in and The prettiness of the place struck us, the long curtains, the huge comfy cushions around us, the simple chandelier, the painting, and, most impressive of all, the hand drawn menu! Each item had a nice brief explaination, after placing our order we actually spent a good 20 minutes just going through the menu. Youll need more than 2-3 visits to do justice to this place! The pricing is on the higher side, but its pretty good value for your money. If you look at the pictures, the quantities are generous and everything we ate was very tasty! The Turkish platter - Id gleefully eat that another 10 times without getting bored! We went by in the evening on another occasion and I enjoyed get cocktails and basically tripped over the way the place looks in the night!!! So quirky and pretty!!! Pop music played, happy voices of the various groups of people added to the ambience! I loved this place :)
