O Botanista - Vegan restaurant in Belas, Portugal
O Botanista in Belas
Description
Privilege
(Pics are from two occasionsfood here is delicious and there’s lots to choose from. The gyoza are life changing, genuinely. The restaurant itself is really beautiful with lots of plants. Also recommend the home made kombucha, it’s lovely.Only feedback for improvement is that the menu is quite ‘bread-heavy’ and not all of the breads are good…
Morea friend of mine who lives in Lisbon highly recommended this place and she was absolutely right: it is amazing! fancy and cool place with creative vegan (or call it plant-basedcuisine.we loved the whole experience: beautiful place, great soundtrack, delicious and great looking food, attentive staff.don’t miss it!
MoreA little gem - excellent food, amazing service, and cool ambiance as it’s full of plants. Items are clearly labeled with gluten so you can navigate & select gluten free with ease (I have celiac). We started with the gluten free bread & cheese taster and the gyozas then shared the beetroot and mushroom curry mains. Great flavors and variety.
MoreHonestly one of the most delicious meal I have ever had. I was surprised by how creative the whole meal was. Considering the quality it was also quite cheap !Can’t recommend it enough 🥰
MoreWe stayed accross the street during our week in Lisbon (two weeks ago). What a nice coincidence that this little pearl was so close. We had several meals over the week here, a lunch, cocktails with a side dish and diner. Please try as many cakes as you can, they are perfect!!!Such good flavours and nice staff that we kept returning. Advice for the weekend would be to reserve a table in advance. Without a booking we were lucky with a no show table.
MoreUpdate: Ive been here at least 5 times already and it never ceases to amaze, how good the food is. Ive probably tried every dish now. Go there if you havent already, among the best food available in Lisbon!I highly recommend going to this place! The atmosphere inside is very relaxed and calming thanks to all the plants, but you can also have a seat on the terrace if you want to.The friendly staff explained the meals to me and I was amazed by how good they were. Thought was put into them to make the food interesting and outstanding, I will definitely come back to try even more of the menu.
MoreThis restaurant is great for brunch. The staff is very friendly, the service is fast and the food is delicious. Ive had the snickers pancakes (they only use nataral sugarsand a sandwich, both delicious. They also have nice drinks. Portions are great. And you will be surrounded by plants.
MoreBeautiful, trendy atmosphere, very good presentation of food, pleasant staff, the kind of place that you feel very optimistic is going to be outstanding. But, I’d describe it as simply edible. And should you happen to disagree with me and like the food—well, the portions are quite small. So either way, not really a win.
More5/5. Delicous food, amazing experience, great ambience, gret service. Would definitely reccommend for all vegans and non-vegans alike. We loved all the food and felt like we were served like in a Michelin star restaurant.
MoreUpdate based on my visit there in September 2022: the menu is limited, the portions are small (except for the slices of cake which are generous!). I miss their previous menu, which was more wholesome and delicious, to not mention that I used to finish my meal feeling satisfied, and now I feel hungry!Original review:I absolutely adore how they combine wholesome ingredients in creative and divinely delicious ways! My favourite has to be the raw dish that has courgette, almond cream cheese and pesto. A tad pricey.
MoreEverything here was superb. Not only is the whole menu vegan, but with the exception of one or two items it is gluten free. I highly recommend visiting this place to all fellow vegans and non-vegana
MoreUltimate plant lover one stop shop. Vegan and nature friendly! The staff were really helpful with helping me decide because everything looked so good. I would go there everyday for breakfast if I could. 10/10 recommend!
MoreWent for lunch and would have given ten stars it was that good. Amazing creativity and talent in the kitchen ...the food and service was amazing...Its rare to find an all vegan restaurant which also happens to be gluten free and everything made on site. Absolutely amazing Im back in Lisbon next year and cant wait to revisit.
MoreVisited here today for lunch.. The most amazing vegan food ...😊😊 Fantastic friendly staff.. Homemade breads all gluten free and vegan cheese (made in houseto complement your meal... Absolutely perfect couldnt fault anything.. This place takes whole food plant based to a whole new level.. perfect..🙏🙏😊😊💚
MoreThe most beautiful and tasty vegan place in Lisbon. A thousand stars if I could. I have a new favorite all time dessert.
MoreThis is by far the best vegan experience I have had. AMAZING! Tasteful, fresh and beautiful decorated. We had starters, mains and dessert, wine …. Unbelievably tasty! The staff is friendly and sweet 🍀
MoreAmazing Vegan options! The staff is as amazing as the food. The food is just incredible. There is nothing comparable in Germany at all. Just a 6 star place honestly!
MoreAmazing brunch! For a good price you get so many things, three drinks and a beautiful arrangement of yummy food. Very friendly staff and a beautiful interior with a great vibe!
MoreAmazing restaurant. Only gave 4 stars as I didn’t particularly enjoy my main and found it too tart (corn mash with mushrooms in a strawberry sauce). However the staff, environment and starter/ cheese platter were lovely. Loved the twists on bruschetta- maybe the best I’ve had. Plenty of gluten free options available and safe for celiacs.
MoreWe were there twice so that we could try all the dishes. Amazing food, great interior, polite staff, creative dishes. Highly recommended!! A must if you visit Lisbon.
MoreBest food weve ever had. Every dish complimented one another. Interesting flavours that worked beautifully together - even the drinks were outstanding (coffee lemonade). Coming back to Lisbon just for this restuarant!Mushroom gyozas in PonzuBeetroot tagliatelle with asparagus and a three-cheeseCauliflower rice with microgreens, pink pickled onions, chard and homemade mango chutneyLemon cheesecake with blueberries and lavender ice cream
MoreAugust 2022 reviewSadly the menu changed, with our favourite dishes removed, I found it hard finding anything appealing on the new menu. The dishes are beautifully presented and the ingredients fresh and tasty, but the portion sizes are small, the quantity of plant protein is lacking, and I left feeling somewhat hungry and unsatisfied.May 2022 reviewOur first time to Orteá and very impressed! The food and drinks were fresh and scrumptious with plenty of creativity and love. The Rawoltini raw dish was particularly impressive, and the Pad Thai was equally yummy. A great place for all food lovers!
MoreThey offer a wide range of vegan dishes and they were very tasty, however it took a long time to serve the food between courses and sometimes I thought the taste was a bit „too“ experimental - some of the main dishes had a sour after taste. We also had a cheese platter which we enjoyed as well as the cake & nectarine crumble.
MoreAmazing selections of food for your well-being! So beautiful and yummy. Highly recommend the ‘whisper for two’, gluten-free bread, the soul and the gyoza were amazing too! The vegan cheese platter was an experience, not so fond of vegan cheeses (yetthough 😘
MoreIm not vegan expert, but I thought everything was pretty decent! Not mind blowing, but definitely great flavors and I will for sure be back.Great juices and smoothies for the perfect price!!10/10 environment ♥️
MorePossibly the best vegan restaurant experience I’ve had! Absolutely delicious seasonal food, incredibly friendly and professional staff and beautiful concept/interior. Can’t wait to come back!
MoreA dream come true!Never had the choice in my life for so many dessert options all gluten-free vegan. They are doing a fantastic job experimenting making different kind of cheese using all plant-based and gluten-free ingredients, preparing fantastic cheese cakes and savoury dishes. We had a lovely dinner and came back the next day to try out more cakes. I couldnt possibly miss that before leaving Lisboa.
MoreThe best place worldwide (as far as I knowfor gluten-free cakes. Delicious vegan food as well, very kind staff and an incredibly beautifully designed restaurant with outside seating. But first of all lots of gluten-free options and especially cakes. And each day new ones - their fresh taste can daily range from Tiramisu, Rasperry, Blubbery, Lemon to some novel unique creation.Unseen in other cities, not even NY or LA, and I explore gluten-free cakes everywhere - they are so hard to find. Not here, and in abundance all types of other dishes. Gluten-free pancakes, pad thai and soups and so much more. Worth the trip 500%!
MoreThis is a tricky review for me because I loved this place and I want to support it, however there were some issues. It is a stunning restaurant with plants everywhere and a great vibe. The staff are so welcoming. We loved our bread plate as a starter! The dips were delicious! I ordered tofu and although delicious with a great texture it was covered in yummy purees and strong tamarind flavors so I would recommend they add some sort of quinoa, rice, noodles etc to soak up all those delicious flavors because it was too much without. I went back and got the pad thai and while tasty I love thai food and it was ok. My daughter LOVED her nutella pancake that comes in cute little pan. My husband liked his pasta but it wasnt his favorite. Highly recommend the starter. Still recommend but one of those cases where the visuals were amazing and the meal almost.I hope they can make some improvements and it will be next level!
MoreGreat vegan food, a bit on the pricey side (especially given the portion sizes), but delicious. Our favourite was the mushroom pasta, which was so flavourful, though everything was good. Food came quickly and the decor is beautiful. Would recommend if youre looking for a fancier vegan experience on Lisbon
MoreRestful, calm atmosphere and the food was excellent. The cold Ophelia salad was extremely fresh and crunchy with well-balanced flavours and a delicious, light dressing. The Bread starter included some of the best focaccia Ive eaten.
MoreMy FAVORITE restaurant in Lisbon (maybe in the entire world 😍)The food, staff, and ambiance are all heavenly! It can get a little crowded in the evenings but in the late afternoon it’s very quiet and a perfect place to grab a late lunch and study. All of the food is delicious but my personal favorite has to be the pad Thai ortea, as well as their tofu mess and Marie Antoinette bruschettas. The vegan cheeses and gluten free bread are also not to be missed! They’re selection of desserts is also spectacular. They have a fixed menu but also do a cake of the day type thing. Once they did a lemon blueberry flavor that I still fantasize about.Overall, 100/10 would recommend!
MoreI had a great meal here this evening with my partner. The restaurants inside space is beautiful with lots of plants. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. All of the food we tried was delicious and well-presented. We had a soup and a bread basket (or rather, bread platterto start with which were both very tasty and good value for money. The bread platter was a very generous portion with a range of different homemade breads and spreads / dips - a kind of tofu soft cheese spread, a miso hummus and oil with balsamic. My main was Bela Ciao which was homemade pasta with mushrooms in red wine, smoked hazelnuts and truffle. This was fantastic! My partner also enjoyed his main, the Tribo bowl. They had some lovely looking cakes on display and we hope to come back to try them. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.
MoreInitially we wanted to hit the TimeOut market but thought it was too chaotic when we got there. We walked a bit further and landed on this vegan restaurant which was a treat. We ordered 4 dishes, the miso houmous, the gyozas, the rawiolini and the cold bowl. Everything was simply delicious and melted in our mouths. All 5 senses were put to work as the food tasted great, looked aesthetically pleasing, smelt great, texture was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. It was also reasonably priced at €42.50 which included a “blue latte” and a lemonade as drinks.Staff were friendly, service was rapid, atmosphere was extremely cosy and everyone spoke English.I highly recommend and would return.
MoreIncredible place! Owned by a baker called Caterina the vegan desserts are amazing. They also make their own cheeses named Rita, Amelia and Maria.. all the options are not only creative but full of detail and flowers. Really wonderful experience. Thank you
MoreUpscale vegan dining experience for a very reasonable price. The flavours in the Bela Ciao (red wine mushroom papardellewere so rich and insanely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients they use, and all the menu options are expertly curated. Absolutely divine! Their sangrias are also fantastic! This is one of the best vegan restaurants you can find in Lisbon (another very good option is AO26 Vegan Project).
MoreBeautiful, clean and spacious restaurant, elegant, with atmosphere and good music, pleasant to sit. Good food, delicious and special. Highly recommend the dessert with berries and the dish with the meatballs.
MoreI think this was the best vegan food I ever had. Everything is made with lovely details. The Restaurant itself is also very beautiful and cozy.
MoreNice restaurant with great atmosphere and a stunning interior design fitting its name. The dishes are creative and all sounded very tasty, so it was hard to chose one. The food we ordered was very tasty, though I wasnt 100% happy with the flavours of my dish, although that was probably just because of personal preferences. (Seaweed powder which made it taste fish-like). The cakes also looked amazing although we didnt try one
MoreThis place is not perfect, but I absolutely adore this place. They have such an extensive vegan menu and everything is carefully and aesthetically prepared. The food was great and we really loved the presentation. Sometimes it’s hard to find good vegan food, but I’m glad I gave this place a try. The staff was also super nice. Would love to come here again and enjoy the nice ambiance of natural plants and homey vibes.
MoreStopped by for a quick break with a smoothie and some cakes and I must say I just had the best gluten-free cake in Lisbon! So tasty!Staff was lovely and most of the menu is gluten-free! Must try!
Moreice restaurant with a great atmosphere. On the whole, the food was good. The cheese platter was a bit disappointing for me, as some varieties just didnt taste that good and the type of pasta didnt go so well with the sauce for me either. But in itself a nice restaurant, worth a visit. 🌱
MoreTruly a 5 star experience. A cosy atmosphere with well designed dishes that are full of flavour combined with an extremely polite and helpful staff make this a worthwhile visit. Would highly recommend if youre willing to spend a little more than average.
MoreVery friendly staff, delicious Pad Thai- beautiful environment. As usual for my personal taste the portions could be slightly bigger but they’re fairly priced & freshly made.Would definitely recommend! Thanks & until next time
MoreEvery dish I tried was very tasty and beautifully presented. The cafe looks very modern, lots of plants. Good music. Great service. Very good ambiance. The coffee was pretty average and no match for the food - something that definitely could be improved.
MoreFive stars are not enough to rate the amazing meal we had. Delicious brunch, amazingly tasty and beautifully presented. The parfait was honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The attention to detail really made a difference. The outdoor space is perfect if you take your pet (water for them is also provided). I would recommend to make a reservation or go early.
MoreThe place was really outstanding. Really good food with curated recipes, with high elaborated and artistic dishes. Loved the Toscana, really worth the price. The soup of the day was really good, a good home made soup with a great flavourful twist. Loved the aesthetics of the place too. I would definitely come back.
MoreWe had an amazing brunch. Excellent service, food and drinks. I would highly recommend for amazing plant-based / vegan friendly meals. We had a large group which didnt have any problems getting seated. Every dish even the bread was fantastic. We will absolutely go again!
MoreProbably the best vegan restaurant I’ve ever visited. Stylish decor in the centre of Lisbon. Great team. But most of all fabulous flavour combinations. It was so good we went both nights we were in Lisbon after travelling from Algarve, to return to the U.K.I’d highly recommend this place if you visit Lisbon, our Portuguese non vegan friends loved it too.
MoreWow! We had a fantastic meal at O Botanista, plus the service was great. We were seated right inside the large dining room with a space right next to the door for our little dog. It took us so long to decide what to order because every dish was so appealing. I might say that the soup was a little over salted, but not badly. The bread plate with nut butter was yummy. The oat risotto was delicious and beautiful. Great gin cocktail too. We had no room for desert, so we will have to go back soon.
