Laid-back pub with a patio offering a variety of draft brews & casual fare, plus regular live music.
Went with a group, security was friendly and comedic, great atmosphere, expect to be back to back with strangers often when it gets busy on a weekend, bartender kept my friends phone safe, strongly recommend!I wish I could get a bite here ngl it was too busy for me to try so I just danced hahaha
obyrnes is my fav. Inez is the best bartender ever she was so sweet + gave me the best drinks + made sure I was okay even when it was rlly busy !!!!!
Came here with some friends after the oilers game and Kaylin was the best service Iβve ever experienced in a pub setting! Definitely would be back just for her!
Its always A BLAST to put it lightly and its got such a nice vibe, its a very welcoming place thank you OByrnes!
Great bar, great beers, great food!
Great service and food! Came here on our Ghost Tour pub crawl! Had the Shepards spring rolls, chicken fingers and bread pudding! Also Green Tea shots! All amazing. Definitely worth a stop!
Enjoyed our lunch here the other day. Beef & Guinness Stew was yummy and the Irish pub vibe was great!
Writing this as Im sitting here still waiting for our food , in the time it took for my poutin nearly an hr , my g.f and step daughter got nothing , and ordered over an hr ago. Easy apps and one burger , ridiculous , and our waitress , sucked! Never again
Amazing pub for dancing and getting drinks. Perfect start or end point for bar hopping on Whyte Avenue. Songs are classics and trending to dance on. Crowd is amazingly young and energetic giving off perfect party vibes needed to hit that floor!
Service was good, but food was yuck.Butter chicken was insanely salty and tasted like they used tomato sauce with a half a box of salt and something resembling chicken. The buffalo chicken burger had the same texture as shoe leather, processed chicken patty that was hard to chew in spots (like it had been microwaved or something?).We love the patio so we decided to give it another go after not loving the food the last time we were there. With so many awesome places on Whyte to eat at, this place could really use a menu facelift! Also, can you please stop making your female staff wear tiny little skirts that barely cover them?! Poor ladies on the patio trying to clear tables in the wind wearing micro skirts like itβs 2001. Not cool.
Went on a Saturday evening. Promptly seated and served. Not much ambiance and dim lighting however its a good pub if you want to hang out with friends and talk. No blasting music. Older crowd
Theyve always treated the group I go with kindly and will happily go back every other week.
Food here is very tasty! But this place can get super busy in the evenings! I think the staff get overwhelmed. Sometimes Ill have to wait over 5 minutes on hold to place a pick-up order
Good vibeWings night at half price every WednesdayGood food . Abit salty though
I like the pub but i hate the layout. Too chopped up. Ive been to lots of pubs in Ireland that were way bettter layed out
If you want to feel like you are really in an Irish or British pub this is the place for you. They even have Harp Lager on tap!
Come on yall, good service and a menu to please anyone. This place is a crowd pleaser.Ive never spent a full evening here, but its a good place for pre-drinks or cooling down after a show.
Always love it here! Live music every Tuesday, great drinks, great fries, not a tonne of vegan menu options unfortunately. Seriously wish the curry sauce that comes as dip for the fries was vegan, it smells so good!
Service was good. Had the fish tacos and club sandwich. Tacos were ok. The club sandwich was a little thin on toppings. The fries and gravy were bland and had WAY too much salt. Could not eat more than 1/4 of them, what is going on with this?
Best wings in Edmonton: Guinness BBQ Amat OByrnes! Excellent staff as well.
We sat on the patio today. Our server was great - she was very busy, but was always smiling! We enjoyed some wings and green onion cakes!! Yum!!! Great pub to go too...
Be careful not to get kicked in the shoulder while sitting on the patio. A good place for drinking and visiting, they usually play good music.
The service here is phenomenal! I had the Shepardβs pie and it was delicious.
I used to visited here for wings day. The Chicken wings was not soft at all and I feel like ate the chicken brest this time.If you visit to here first time? you can try out for Gueness flavor wings. It is very yummyπ
Great atmosphereFish and chips amazingBeer tooPricing and location reasonableService as it should beThis place rocks
Food is very average. They do make a mean green beer for st. Patricks day though. I usually go to Obyrnes on weekend nights. Definitely the best bar on Whyte ave to go get turnt. Beware though, they will kick you out if you puke.
I liked the atmosphere and decoration. Live music was my favorite part. The service was a bit slow though.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere. Giving 4 because our fries in the poutine we ordered were very crunchy.. hard to eat!
Fun place. Wings were a bit dry and skinny. Wouldnt recommend wing night here. But its a fun pub otherwise.
Great environment! Food is super delicious. I prefer the hot wings. I think the salt and pepper are a bit dry and eed more flavour. Parking is tricky on the street and they have inside and outside tables. There also some little booths to make it more private dining if you want to. The poutine is HUGE! Its a large plate π½ π. I belive they also have a second floor inside with pool tables. They also have a bar if you prefer to stay there. The manager and waitresses are so fun and very nice! They get quite busy so make sure to get there earlier than you want your supper to be ready
I used to drink here in the olden days, always a great time. Still very busy on the Fris and Sats. But now Im there for open mic on Sundays, but its the same great Obyrnes and Im glad its still a thing
OβByrnes is a great bar. It has been a staple of Old Strathcona for as long as I can remember, and Iβve had many great days and nights at this humble but cozy place. The food is usually decent, and the menu changes now and then. The cocktails are always pretty tasty, but I really dislike the plastic water glasses they use, although to be fair it can get rowdy which is perhaps why they may be necessary. The service is always a bright spot, and I think a large proportion of the staff are actually Irish.Definitely one of Edmontonβs best legitimate Irish bars.
The atmosphere is so good and the foods and drinks are awesome!
Great food, service and charm! Love the atmosphere and its truly an iconic spot on Whyte Avenue.
The other reviews of this place are pretty on point, a great place to drink but not so great if youre going in just to eat. The service was lackluster but the food wasnt bad.
I love this place and the waitress with the irish accent just tops it off.... ohh ya and the food gott ask for the fatboy burger... its not on the menu but its a burger and the buns are grilled cheese sammiches
Food was okay, what I didnβt like was I only ordered nachos that took almost half hour and were cold. It was dead let me remind you, and the I didnβt feel very welcome. I am native and used to this service by now sadly
Watched a hockey game. Great service, fun atmosphere. VERY loud & bar like after 10pm which wasnt what we were there for BUT, still a great time.
Went on a Saturday night around 5pm and it wasnt super busy. Food and drink were good but definitely some of the worst service weve ever received. The waitress didnt once check in on us during our meal, which took at least 20 minutes for two salads. When we finally flagged her down for our bill that was another wait while she talked with other servers and back and forth past our table 3 times. If you want to get hit on by a bartender whos off shift as well this probably the place to go. Service looked pretty good directly at the bar to be fair.
drinks were good. Its the first time Ive been there since covid hit. Definitely could use more staff scheduled though as it took us 20-30 minutes for each order of drinks, which caused us to leave and go somewhere else. Dont get me wrong, the place was great but they missed out on more sales because they were understaffed for how many people were in there
The drinks and food werent too bad.. but the service was MOST excellent.. definitely worth another visit in the near future! Also they carry my new favorite beer! πππ
( Edited Review Good place to go out for date nights - Been coming here time and time again and havent been disappointed - Service is relatively good the food and drinks are also good here at OByrens Irish Pub as seen in my pictures, So what u waiting for come and join us ( Good Location ( Irish Pub )Review Edited on August 24th/1:07am/2021
Great staffs and beer collection, low illumination environment which I truly love and amazing people.Edit: back home again after almost a year and this place is called home once you visit it.Nothing compares to OByrnes.Theres one om, love om!
Very nice place to spend time with friends! The bar itself is uniquely structured which I found to be quite cool. Customer service is top notch!
this place is pretty much your typical Irish pub, cheesy decoration galore & greasy food options, perpetually smelling like beer, but cozy. The service has always been good (or at least friendly, perhaps not quick!and this is a great place to watch sporting events (FIFA!), having multiple screens, but spots w a good view fill up fast so come early. Not a culinary miracle, but the food is good for sport watching. Brunch is decent.
Service was pretty slow and very unfriendly. I had the coconut breaded fish and chips which were unfortunately not good at all. Batter was weak and the fish was overdone. The wings were average and the potato skins were probably the best item we ordered. Definitely do not recommend the Caesars unless you like bloody Marys. Nice atmosphere but I wouldnt recommend anything more than a beer from this place.
Ordered the coconut cod and chips, and was very underwhelmed. Virtually no flavour to my meal which was disappointing. The service was great, however with where we were seated, by the time we got our meal a live performance started right behind us. I wish the server would have let us know a head of time so we were able to change our seating. Overall likely would not be back.
Great Irish skillet and beautiful pours on the beer. The booths are relatively comfortable. It is not a badge place to relieve spend an afternoon. The service is amazing.
Great Guinness on tap and cold as ice. Food is usually decent. The server we had resembled the green version of Fiona (Shrekand please stop the fake accent. Nuff said.
The 0.40 cent "Wing Wednesday" wings were fantastic! I tried 3 different flavors: sweet thai, honey garlic, & traditional hot. The Sheperds Pie Egg Rolls were very tasty as well. It took 25 minutes to get my food, but it was worth it! Thanks! #PerfectPint
