Nusfjord - Historical Fishing Village - Open-Air Museum in Svolvaer, Norway
Beautiful and interedting fishing village. However, there is an entrance fee, which is a little bit over priced.
Disappointed by the fact that there is an entrance fee of 100 kr per person, which is not worth it. For someone who lives in Lofoten this feels like a tourist trap, and not the way we should welcome our visitors. We wanted to eat lunch at the café, but having to pay 400 NOK before being allowed to enter the café is just absurd.
100 NOK entrance fee for just walking through a small historical town with red houses. No thanks. You can see everything from the top and its not even a wow effect if you have seen other free places of norway.Imagine every old town would collect an entrance fee🙄
We went in the evening and there was no entry fee. There were about 10 cars in the parking lot. Some good photo opportunities but the whole village is actually a high end resort so not really authentic. The road there had scenic views, so worth a visit if you have extra time.
Quite busy with buses and a lot of tourists. Very limited parking space AND you have to pay €10,- per person fee to get into the village which is nothing more then a touristique village! Just drive to Reine or Hamnøy for even better pictures for free!
This place takes the exploitation of tourists in Lofoten to a whole new level. 100 nok pr person to enter a village!? So 200nok for two people wanting to go eat a pastry and thats just to be able to enter the area with the pastry shop, I mean common. While Lofoten in general is built around milking the tourists for as much money as possible this is just too much. This place makes me sad and ashamed to be Norwegian.
Disgusting exploitation of this once lovely place, ruined by greed and stupidity. The 100 nok per person is a disgrace. The entire village has been privatised and It has lost its soul.Go after 7 pm to have a walk for free.
With a blue sky its extra beautiful.
The capitalism at his best. You have to pay to visit a village...
probably isnt worth the "entry fee" but if you can get in without paying its good - norway in mini format
Certainly picturesque village in a beautiful setting. However for the 100 NOK entrance fee, there could have been a bit more information signs in my opinion. For the same price, you van visit the Norske Fiskevarsmuseum in Å, guide included, which is a far more elaborate museum.Cant help but feel like a cash cow here.
Picturesque fishing village with only a couple of buildings you can visit. The rest are rorbuers. Entry ticket @100 NOK per person may not be worth the money but one will still go as you have travelled all the way to Lofoten.
100nok ripp off just for walking around! Whats wrong with this profit oriented town! No place to go
Lovely little historical village.
Just an small fishing village, nothing special. Also the movie was not working, half the art gallery was closed and the spa was not open but we still had to pay full price 😞100NOK each for basically 1 hours parking and nothing amazing in this village. I would not recommend. And the toilets were locked. And the information leaflet was only available in Norwegian.
Very cosy and beautiful village, definitely worth a visit when passing by. We visited in early February when it was completely snow covered. There is a large parking available right at the beginning of the village (free of charge - at least in winter). A bit hilly so you need spikes/crampons to walk around! Typical wooden fishing boats are docked at the harbor. You can walk around the harbor and go up to the rocks to have a nice view over the village as well as the ocean. Cute cafe available with homemade waffles.
Small, cosy fishing village. Well preserved buildings, you can go into some of them and see the exhibition. There is an old bakery with coffee and delicious cinnamon rolls. Parking is very small and usually there is a line of cars waiting for the parking spot, good thing to know beforehand.
It couldn’t help that much though I was prepared for the admission fee. Kind of a rip off.
Tourist trap nowadays, used to be a nice place when we visited 5 years ago. Does not have any charm of real fishing village
We cycled 50 km from Å for lunch only to discover that to enter the village you need to pay 100 NOK entrance fee. Decided to climb up the hill instead to see the village and turn around to have food somewhere else (Lekenes). It’s a fairly average fishing village not worth the entrance fee which is meant to decrease the amount of tourist. Mission accomplished Njusfjord. Your restaurant just lost 4 cutomers.
There is a charge of 100 NOK to enter the village. Doesnt this violate the Norwegian Right to Roam? We were planning on eating at the Karolina restaraunt here, but went somewhere else. The rocks behind the car park give a nice view, for free
Understandable why they chose to settle here. And impressive how they have conserved this place.
The village was impressive but the museum was boring! We wish the tourism was more about fishing history and had more context/information. Other than that, excellent place - the cafe was great and the restaurant has good food.
Nice for a quick visit to the free sightseeing spot. Entrance fee to the village itself is 100 NOK per person - skip that one and take the picture up the hill from the rocks next to parking. Did not want to pay the fee and had to skip the small cafe that was inside.
Great range of outdoor activities available with guides or there are a few paths you can stroll.
Nice small village, but a bit below our expectations
Cool old fishing village, very scenic. Well worth the short diversion off the E1
One of my favorite small fishing village in Lofoten. The place is small, typical and beautiful. I recommend watching the fishing movie.
Nice little fishing village. They require a fee to see it, but its worth a couple of NOK
Not worth to pay 100 NOK entry just to walk a bit around...
The Fjord itself is worth the drive, but there are so many rorbur around in the area which you can capture in your picture with no entrance fee. In the end its a resort, not a village anymore and the fee can keep the dream on. The good thing is they kept the place as real as possible.
Lovely old motor collection and blacksmith workshop
Very good quality food with good portions. Friendly people. Cosy, nice and tipical restaurant with rooms. On a little harbour.
Beautiful spot and great for walks, lunch, coffee great views along the coast from the coast path to Nesford
Nice place 👍🏻
From my perspective, this village has no unique selling preposition. You pay 100 NOK entrance fee per person but you won’t find any highlight if you’ve already travelled around.
Village is s nice small fishing village, but we had to pay ~ 30 eur for one adult + 3 kids just to visit the outside walking area. It is not a disney land, so we were feeling shocked over the price. We didn’t want to use any services after the first bad arrival experience. Waste of money, waste of time, nothing special to see. I think local people are just too greedy to get money from tourists. Without too high entry fee, we probably would have spend money for services as well.
A nice little fishers village with shops and Cafes. Not worth paying for (100 NOK per personwhen there is no shortage of beautiful villages in Lofoten. Instead id recommend stoping at Å for a bakery with similar view and without paying for entrance
Yes, this is a bit too much like a theme park or Skansen museum, but who cares when the scenes are so tranquil. One could find carefully curated film playing and historic items displayed in restored buildings of the old fishing village. The café is also decent.
Beautiful small village for a short stroll, peaceful, out of the world. The road driving to this place is pretty epic too.
Great but not worth it to pay the enterence fee.
Very nice place where electricity was working before then in New York. Perfect place to take a walk after visiting Hansines Bakeri- where you can buy delicious kanelsnurel and another breads products. Historical place, where in a small cinema you can watch history of this village.
Good for Drone photo taking.
Nice place
One of the most visited fishing village in lofoten Island well kept wheat nice traditional building during December the place very popular and hardly find a parking space the place is surrounded hill and sea not far from the village there is a beautiful long Sands beach very popular spot for Northern Lights the the village has cute nice places to eat.
Nusfjord is one of the oldest and best-preserved fishing villages with long Lofoten fishery traditions. Highly recommend to visit!
Waou ! Two nights there is a minimum. Order a hot bath and a sauna 8 hours in advance...One great expérience. The kids have loved being with their bathing suits in the cold.
Beautiful fishing village. A bit difficult to find available parking
Very beautiful small quaint fishing village. Road once you leave E10 to reach here is itself very beautiful. Must visit place in lofoten.
"Nusfjord - one of Norways oldest and best preserved fishing villages" says tourist brochure. In fact, former fishing and fish processing village was turned into tourist site with some open air expositions and suffers a bit from frequent drive in - drive out tourist excursions. Fisherman rorbu houses were rebuilt into tourist accommodation, general store is now more gift shop rather than center of local trade and services etc.Despite of this, Nusfjord is still very picturesque place worth of visit, although all authenticity is gone.Entrance fee gives visitor access to whole village including:- Cod liver refinery (now with exposition of photos from the past),- Harbour (sightseeing and fishing trips and boat rental services),- Blacksmiths workshop,- Smoke house,- Red boathouse,- Nordnaustet boathouse,- Ice house,- Saw mill- BakeryExcept of these preserved buildings, cafés, restaurants, shops and souvenir shops are located in village center and are ready to serve the visitors.
