Praça do Colombo 5, 9000-059 Funchal, Portugal, Funchal
Núcleo Museológico da Cidade do Açúcar - Tourist attraction in Funchal, Portugal
UNFRIENDLY! We came at 16:45 (closing time 17:30), hearing that the museum is small and we can finish it in 15 minutes, the lady on rece reception did not lest us in, she came from the doors at 17:23 and had closed the musum before the closing time. Shame on you :(
Interesting... if you like old broken ceramics 😅
Klein aber fein. Informationen auch in Deutsch vorhanden. 👍
Muito elucidativo. Valeu bem a pena a visita. Aconselho
Pretty good with the audio tour version. Not crowded at all. Great to know about Madeira and how important the island was back in the day.
Molto istruttivo, guida in inglese, ma libro porta traduzione in italiano da chiedere a custodi
Gostei.
Interessante kleine kostenlose Austellung. Laufwege beachten.
Boring. Also all text and descriptions are only in Portugese.
A small place full of history and the entrance ia free, pieces from XV to XIX centuries, archaeological things including coins, smoking pipes, fragments of dishes, sugar molds and more things that where used on the "white gold cycle" in my opinion it will be more apelative if they had something write down on each object explaining what it was for on the ancient days (they have the names). Most part of these objects were found in excavations in Funchal. Recomend :)
Small but informative
I love it!
Vale a pena visitar
Excelente espaço museologico. A visitar.
Really interesting little museum. It had plenty of interesting things to see - especially Colombias Well. Helpful staff who encouraged you to take photos - the only request was that you didnt use the flash on the camera.
Small museum, free of entrance. Guiding book in different languages.
Poco interesante y personal antipático
Very interesting museum, friendly helpful staff with good infomation booklet in English about the exhibits. I was particularly interested in the history of sugar and its production. Also small display of Portuguese ceramics.
Initial reaction was not good with appallingly rude front of house staff (because we didnt have enough change). The Museum itself was not what I expected. What I wanted to see was an explanation of the process of obtaining the sugar and its importance to the Islands economy. What I got was a collection of broken pottery (with some sugar moulds)and some religious iconry.Give it a miss unless you really like rude staff and broken pots.
When I went there, there was only one room with a boring exhibition. A complete waste of time.
Very small museum, expected little more.
Interesting exhibition. Nice building. Helpful staff. Centrally located close to other touristic attractions.
