Nubian Museum in Kawm Umbu

Nice museum with comprehensive Nubian history.The place is air-conditioned and I advice you to visit other external locations first and then visit the museum so you can take a breather.The exhibits are from 5000 BC up to the recent history (early Coptic christians and Muslim civilization).All in all a place worthy to visit when in Aswan.

The museum itself is wonderful, the problem is tour leaders speaking so loudly to their tour groups you cant possibly read any of the information.Most people are quiet but tour leaders destroy the experience. All exhibits are well marked so Im not sure why a tour leader is needed.

One of the best attractions in Aswan. It shows the history of the old nubian kingdoms and their relationship with Ancient Egypt. Historical panels very informative.

Youll understand more about the archaeology of the region, but also how and why water has been so important to the people who have lived here for centuries. And if its hot outside, theres good AC!

The museum could be very beautiful but it lacks proper lighting and displays.

Very nice museum. Clean, cool, and not very crowded. The displays and models were all well done.

The artifacts in this museum are just out of this world. From a glass vase found in perfect condition to a silk tunic several thousand years old.

Friendsit’s a good regional museum where I felt I learnt a lot about the overall history of the Nubian people. There is a good range of artefacts on display that map the history as a whole but it’s a but lifeless when it comes to the culture.If you want to learn about the history of the Nubian people then come here

This museum show everything about Nubian life as well as Nubian villages and showing Nubian people while different activities and different ages really recommend so much

Its a wonderful museum especially if you have a knowledgeable tour guide. But on the day I went the air conditioning was out. Call ahead to make sure. I would have stayed longer but the heat was uncomfortable.

This museum was well thought out and included interesting artifacts. Well worth the visit.

Very informational and extensive museum. Good summary of not only Nubian culture but also Ancient Egypt overall. We went here instead of doing the long bus ride to Abu Simbael and don’t regret the decision (there is an entire area dedicated to the temples south of Aswan.The staff was enormously gracious when our car was late. AC wasn’t super powerful.

Surprisingly big museum, with a lot of good information. Dont visit at the end of the day when you are exhausted - otherwise you will be overwhelmed. Unfortunately the outdoor exhibition was under renovation and closed off. Almost no people during ramadan - except some annoying taxi drivers out in front. Nobody asked to do guided tours.

Excellent modern museum

The Nubian Museum is an affirming, educational and historic place for people of African descent. I learned so much in this museum about Ancient Egyptian and Nubian culture, cosmology, history and values. You have to visit this museum to gain knowledge that is shared abroad about Nubian people. It was a life changing place for me to visit.

A great collection organised very well indeed following the sequence of historical periods. One highlight is the remarkably well preserved mummies from local graves. Surprisingly empty for such an excellent museum.

The museum route is organised, and the displayed items are diversified and nice.

The museum was more extensive than i expected.It was very easy to go in..maybe because we went around 3 pm…I am not sure. But, there was absolutely no line.The cost for the ticket was 140 pounds (for foreigner).I did see some people with guides but nobody approached us and so, we did the tour by ourselves.

One of the most amazing museums all over Egypt.The museum focuses mainly on the History of Nubia Land along the known history.Museum is full of amazing statues and original old Egyptian mummies, accessories and Gold of course 😊.Strongly recommended for anyone who will visit Aswan.Best regards

Very beautiful museum with great nubian culture, i am amazed, people inside help you to explain what you see, one of the guards walks with us to tell us stories about it, you will enjoy it, the museam closes at 4.30 pm, give the tour inside about two hours if you like to read the explanation written at each peace

Great museum showcasing main periods of the local history. I particularly enjoyed the hall devoted to UNESCO Nubia Campaign - didn’t know about this important part of temples’ history. Mind blowing campaign!The first floor has a temporary exhibition but I would suggest to go straight down to the staircase to start with the main exhibition.Safety wise: they have open shelves where you can leave your bags in front of the entrance but unfortunately there was no one that watched them and the place was just totally abandoned. So it’s not safe to leave your bags.

Interesting place. Very nice reconstructions of many historical places/buildings, as well as Nubian villages, showing Nubian people while different activities. I liked it a lot!

Must visit, it closes at 5, make sure to gave at least an hour to dedicate, the place is so informative and well planned. 100% must do in Aswan. You can get there by public microbuses on cornich going to Aswan stadium, it will pass by the museum (3 pounds)

Very informative museum! I had no understanding of the Nubians or their history and culture until my visit. Building is very modern. Display info is posted in English and Arabic. Lots of artifacts. Well worth the visit and 140 EGP entrance fee. No "camera ticket" needed for just a cellphone camera.

This museum is fantastic. I spent 2 hours there without feeling the time is passing. Has lots of great details about the Nubian culture and it’s key role in the ancient Egyptian history.

Amazing experience and very good layout. Shocked theres no special rate for Africans and the lighting is poorly done. Cant take pictures.

My third visit to this fascinating museum where you can learn about Egyptian and Nubian history. I took time outside in the lovely gardens.

One of my favorite destinations when I studied abroad and travelled Egypt. Great artifacts, culturally diverse, and rich history here in Aswan. It was HOT outside but that is to be expected in the Saharan Desert. Go see it if you are in the vicinity!

Wonderful museum where you can see the history of Nubian Kingdoms, in addition to Nubian Coptic era and Islamic era ,there are such unique places.Thanks to the guide working in the museum he was such a help

Interesting place to visit, I enjoyed it, but i think 80 Egyptian pounds is a bit much for it. I recommend walking around as well, as there is nice garden, cave, nubian house etc

Ticket is 140L.E for Adult and 70L.E for kids and students. Spent about 2 hours here. Museum is well structured and everything is displayed well with ample information beside it to read and understand.

There are some magnificent pieces in this collection. You are sure to be intrigued. The history is very rich and they strive to stay true to what is right and correct in preserving nubian history. I loved it

Very modern and well curated museum, with full English translations and taking you through history in a chronological order from 4000BC. Wished Egyptian Museum in Cairo was as good as this!

Fairly new, well built with a good plan for the cusromer journey.They designed it with nice night lights and it is a walking distance from Cataract Hotel and the Coptic Cathedral.

Well organized museum with lot of interesting artifacts.It was not crowded at all, hence spent a lot of time there.There were also displays from pre Pharoah period.

This is the best museum experience we have had in Egypt. The building is modern, attractive and cool inside. The exhibits are well laid out, well lit and have good explanations. There are also good summaries of the general history of Nubia throughout the ages.You really can you here and enjoy the place without a guide.We didn’t get any hassle at all as well, which is a first.

A very informative and impressive museum. Its quite big and well set out. Theres a lot of information about numbian culture from 6,000 BC to now. The museum provides information about the changing cultures and religions. Theres a good collection of stone tools, pottery, clothing, carved stones, statues and a few mummies too. Theres also quite a nice and big garden outside. Its costs extra to take photos inside.

intresting place to know more about temples & nations which lived on Egypt in the history ..but unfortunately we cant take photo in the museum without permission

Very well design, spacious... I would visit in the morning next time. We went late and the outside area which is really nice to explore was all dark and they dont put lights there.The inside of the museum is very well designed and arranged historically nice.Ticket is 10egp for Egyptians and 100 egp for foreigners... Ridiculous difference. But still worth it.Lots of stairs just to get there.. A good walk. Elevators arent working inside so we had to carry our stroller up and down the stairs..

If youre interested to know a lot more about Nubian history and.culture, this is the place for you. Great collection of Nubian artefacts. Well preserved mummy. Need to spend a bit of time to appreciate whats showcased.
