Norwegian Fishing Village Museum Å - Museum in Svolvaer, Norway
Nice
The point itself is gorgeous and the drive over is one of the best, but the small village/ museum didnt feel like an attraction, and the exhibits are extremely low on attractions
Nice experience. Many thanks for all. Things to learn there
Cute location! Nice to reach the end of the road! We stopped in at the museum coffee shop for a snack. Excellent cinnamon buns and coffee. Cute spot for a break with some tables. The bathroom is outside and shared with the museum/historical spots.
A great experience. The lady who explained everything to us (outside of the building with the boatswas very good.
There is not much to see. Everything is DONT TOUCH - so really not an interesting place for kids. Bakery is OK, but not really mind blowing. We were expecting more.
Typical Norwegian village. Perfect spot to take pictures
Tiny, nice place
Very idyllic and beautiful environment. We had the pleasure of receiving a small tour by one of the guides, which was very informative and interesting.
A beautiful village and we had the lovely autumn colours too
Small houses for fishermans
Its a beautiful small village with an excellent view. Really loved the place.
Nice Village, i suggest to test the museum bakery !! The best cinnamon roll of Norway
Great village with beautiful view
Such an amazing small village, beautiful colours, a must go place!
Very interesting place to visit in Lofoten island. The owner is very friendly and availables
Spread over a few old village buildings. The buildings themselves just contain collection of old junk which not sorted in any particular order and offer no detail. One the movies in English and Norwegian but another is only in Norwegian. Didnt actually learn anything from the museum.
Small but beautiful with lots to learn about a typical fishing village in Norway.
Traditional fisherman village
Its a cozy place where you can watch the fishermen and buy good food
Very cool museum
Nice village with a nice restaurant! Due to the low season the bakery was closed
Really full.Not easy to get with a bigger car.But interesting.Recommend 🙂
Nice for having a coffee, cosy and at the morning is great and has nice views sitting outside.
Didnt actually go into the museum but visited this charming little village. The bakery is lovely. There is a traditional bodybuilders there and many old buildings.
The museum is a series of buildings in the traditional fishing village which include a bakery, a fishermans hut, a fish oil refinery, a blacksmith and a traditional house remodeled to look as it was in the 1960s. They also offer a guided tour, which is worth your while. The bakery has good bread and cinnamon buns, you should definitely try them.
Very nice place
Good museum, excellent guides, very informative. Keep up the good work!
I totally recommend the Tørrfiskmuseum! The local guide (the owner of the museumis very passionate and will give you a very interested introduction to the Lofoten way of living. I believe its a very good start to your trip on the Lofoten Islands. Take roughly 2h to go through the place. Included coffee.
Its an open air museum that is also an actual village. You can walk on the streets, but to visit houses you need to buy a ticket. Id definetly recommend to visit houses as there are many details describing villiage life back in the days.
A leap in the past, no frills, just plain and nice reality.
50 extra NOK for what? 8 min video, what u can find on YouTube? Or what?? 😁
Lovely, nice bakery with delicious cynamon rolls.
Good insight in the rough circumstances of living of the sea.
Nice but no more then that
The splendor of the Norwegian village, in one place. Not just educational, but spectacular. Absolutely gorgeous!
The museum is in fact part of the village itself. When you buy a ticket (NOK 100you receive a map on which the various buildings are indicated that you can visit inside. It is all a little bit outdated but interesting nevertheless. There is not much explanation of the things that are on display, which is unfortunate.
Å is a quaint fishing / tourist village almost at the tip of the Lofoten Island chain. The village itself sits at the base of one of the many up-thrusts of mountainous rock that make up the Lofoten island chain. This makes for a surreal Vista as you stand at sea level in the village and look up or out a Ross the Atlantic ocean / Norwegian Sea. The gift shop here was great for the usual tourist fare and the cafe and bakery on site serve up the typical Norwegian tourist foods. Definitely a must see when touring the Lofoten Islands.
Nice place, good food
Very nice fishing city
Beware, famous bakary working until 15:00!
The village is located close to the marina where ferry arrives from Bodø. It’s nice little village with plenty of photo opportunities.
Not that different to walking through other Lofoten villages. The historic funished homes are sparse and contain little information. The park just next to the parking is very noce though
Really interesting Fishing village museum. entry is 100kr, which allows you entry to the various open air museum exhibits in the town. These buildings are real and have real props and items that were used in say the boat house or the blubber factory. The bakery is to die for. Great town to spend 30-60 mins to understand Lofoten culture and history.
Good location and view but room not properly cleaning.
Its pretty niche but if you join the free and shortguided tour you learn a good deal about what life was like. Its a museum spread over about ten buildings all within a stones throw of each other. You only get to see the fishermens hut in the tour. The old post office was great fun for the kids.
awesome. the guided tour is imthe price.
Some house were closed. Rest good
Interesting place to visit. Could spend 1 to 2 hours going through the different buildings.
What might seem like a less-than-riveting topic, Norways fishing culture, comes alive at this unique restoration project. Be sure to take a tour with Olga, the docent.
