Northern Maritime Museum in Assen
Description
Privilege
Wondrous. Good for every ship lover. A must see!
Дуже чудова колекція яка розташована в старовинному будинку.Пропоную відвідати.
MoreThe museum is one of the oldest buildings (Gotisch huisin Groningen, several centuries old and over a few levels so expect many stairs. It’s very well organised but it is a local history museum so do not expect English or other language translations simply use Google translate with your phone camera and you will enjoy your visit.
MoreAmazing, must visit museum. There is so much information about slavery and I was moved by the collection and stories. More and more people should visit this, its worth it.
MoreAlmost no English information available
Not big, but interesting
Ik kan niet wachten tot het nieuwe museum geopend is!!!De geschiedenis van Groningen 😌😊
MoreOne of the most beautiful buildings in Groningen. This is by far my favourite museum. Today I got to share this experience with my son and wife. Little narrow staircases, low ceiling, and all the characteristics what history could give you as well as the great service of the people that work there. A great representation of the Dutch and Groninger naval history.
MoreBeautiful way to discover the history of Groningen! Wish i went earlier!
There are quite a lot of rooms but it is not very interactive, most items have only Dutch text.
MoreIts a beautiful museum, even if youre not into ships and boats. The building itself is well worth a visit.
MoreVery good museum with a very deep collection. It is housed in two very tall but narrow buildings next to each other so expect the do a bit of up the stairs, down the stairs walking. Each floor has its own theme and it worth the climb to to top floor. Would recommend and will be visiting again.
MoreSome parts closed. Introduction Film only in Dutch.
Thr museum goes in to great detail, especially in regards to the old woodworking processes. It can be seen in about an hour and doesnt cost much.
MoreVery friendly staff and lots of interesting displays linked to maritime. The information was very technical though and, although the website-linked stories were interesting, there could be more of a story told.
MoreWay larger than expected. Interesting collection, wide variety of models and artifacts. If you are a collector this place it great. If youre interested in more context you might be missing a little. All in all very entertaining and detail oriented.
MoreI dont know much about ships but I still liked it. Many details about that kind of things, which would be even more interesting for those that know about that kind of things.
MoreA great museum to visit. Perhaps it would have been more interesting for me if the signs had also been in English, but it is understandable that it was not the case. Otherwise an Audio tour or something similar would be a great addition. Regardless of the minor issues I faced, it was great to see the museum either way, and they have a website that gives details on some of the pieces.
MoreA very interesting museum on the ships used in and around Groningen. However, the descriptions of the items are only in Dutch and those are also not very detailed. It would be nice to have descriptions in more then one language, maybe Dutch, English and German. The museum guide is also available in english, which is helpful.
MoreAmazing museum. It has a great setup and alot of awesome pieces of history
Not that good + no English
Nice if you like this sort of place.
Nothing interesting to see
Located in beautiful medieval house in the city center. Great to learn about local history and great for kids.
MoreInteresting museum with a nice collection. It is a bit of a maze.
You can get an understanding how the Dutch people became so successful and rich
Very beautiful Museum with lots of interesting Stuff
A very beautiful museum! I recommend!
Having been to the Amsterdam scheepvaart museum this one is a bit disappointing. The staff was really friendly and the location is really nice. The building is a historic building with authentic beams.Mind your head! However if you are here in Groningen it is worth the visit!
MoreGood historical museum about British Maritime.
Not really interesting in my opinion. The current exposition about refugees and immigrants is more interesting than the boats and ships themselves
MoreInteresting
Nice, but not a great place to visit twice.
totally awesome place if u like ships
Great museum full of artifacts but none of the signs are in English!
cute littlet museum. no English signs.
Historic place of ships and craftsmen in the middle of groningen - even the museum feels like a ship with small stairs and several floors
MoreLovely building and walk through Dutch naval history. Needs more than 1 visit and more information in English.
MoreNice collection of model ships and diesel and steam engines. Worth a visit.
Beautiful.
The permanent exhibition is very interesting, a good overview of the maritime history around the North Sea focused on Northern Netherlands. We however came for the temporary exhibition Made in Stad on Huizinga furniture which was somewhat disappointing as it is quite small.
MoreIf you dont speak Dutch I dont think this is worth it. They will give you little flyer with explinations in English but theres hardly anything on there. I just walked around and looked but I left like I was missing out on a lot!The 3D exhibit is nice, again no English explanations but you get it without it. They are before and after pictures of Groningen. The before pictures of old times in 3D are great but the after pictures arent even at the same angle and are not interesting at all. They are mostly construction sight pictures.Coffee and tea are 1€ which was great.
MoreCould have better if the app had worked
Nice collection of shipping relicts.
No English tour! But It was nice.
Nice, interesting museum with a nice interactive journey for kids as well
