Millennium Bridge, 1 Paul's Walk, London EC4V 3QH, Taiynsha
Contemporary British menu in riverside setting under the Millennium Bridge, with Tate Modern views.
Average food, thankfully it was on tastecard so half price. Scallops were quite small and a bit bland, steak was ok and the desserts were nothing to write home about. Great views tho
A pleasant weekday dining experience with my husband. We had the crab doughnuts and pan fried scallops to start following by the fillet steak with truffle chips and ox cheek bourguignon with horseradish mash. We finished our meal off with a sticky toffee pudding and Baileys ice-cream martini. The food was well-cooked and pleasant to eat, but not out of this world. The service was friendly and attentive.
Great spot for lunch, coffee or drinks with views over the Thames. Friendly staff. Efficient service. Great food
Ive been meaning to come here for a while. I met some girlfriends for dinner here and we were v impressed with nearly everything. The service, the food, the views were fantastic. We were really looked after by their friendly staff. I want to come back in the summer to use their terrace bar. The only thing let it down was the ladies toilets didnt flush and some seats were broken and the taps only let a trickle of water through. This can be fixed easily enough. I would recommend this place for dinner.
Great location for business lunch or dinner. They have booths that make it more convenient for a small Business conversation while having a meal.Food was great. The cauliflower soup was delicious and the oxtail was very well braised and very tasty
A very nice restaurant, good food and a beautiful view by the bridge. By night it is amasing. Staff very kind
Aweaspiring views, exceptional modern British food, and lovely service. The one aspect keeping me from giving full 5 stars were the toilets, that were disappointingly dirty.
Really good food. People treated us very good. I can only recommend that restaurant. Would go there again. We had a good time.
Food was delicious and fairly priced considering some seats have a view of the Thames and the Tate Modern. We booked for 50% off through tastecard and i don’t think we got the full 50% discount but we were in a rush so left it as it was.The staff are friendly but forgetful. I ordered a glass of wine that i had to ask two different people to get me.Will definitely go back but if you go at a busy time remember that you might need to ask a few times before you get what you ordered.Highly recommend the lamb and bone marrow mash potato!
Top notch restaurant!! Visited for first time tonight 18.10.19 to meet a friend for dinner. Great location, modern and pleasing decor and absolutely charming staff. French bar man/waiter was particularly engaging. Food was of a high standard too. Highly recommended. Treat yourself!! Ill definitely be back again.
Someone in that kitchen is a very talented cook. We chose from the February set menu and the food was impressive. The ingredients were well chosen and the food was accurately cooked. The house wine which came with the meal was also surprisingly good. Ive paid a lot more elsewhere for a meal of this quality and will definitely be returning. My friends gin & tonic was rather better my cocktail.
An excellent dinner and a beautiful setting. 100% the best place that accepts the Tastecard!
Took my wife here on Friday night just gone for dinner. First impressions very friendly and attentive staff, nice décor and lovely view - when booking asked for a table by the window and we got a good one. Excellent service and food was of the highest quality. Only disappointment was my wifes pork steak was served undercooked and slightly raw and my plaice was not served with a sauce so found it slightly dry in that respect.
Limited and interesting menu. The starters didnt excite me but the ribeye and chips were on the money. The recommended ( I think Italianred was almost spot on and managed to please varying choices, so a well thought out selection. My trifle was the tastiest, richest and lightest I have had for a long while. Voluptuous you might say. Another shared dessert...Not cheap, but certainly worth considering for a decent meal in the city.
First time to Northbank with friends who lives nearby. Impressed with the great view of the river. Staff were friendly & attentive. We had a three courses meal, all were tasty and really well presented. Thank you Northbank, I will tell my friend (Beckyto take me here again on my next visit 😘
My Xmas works meal was totally ruined by the staffs unwillingness to pull a group of over 20 other dinners up about their disgraceful behaviour! They we sat directly behind us for 2 hours and behaved like disgusting drunken football hooligans throughout the entire time! And no point did any of the staff attempt to cool this behaviour down and became stroppy when I asked them to deal with the issue! This is not a football café or a pub! The staff were grossly unprofessional in letting this happen! This was not a little bit of Xmas high jinx, it was constant shouting, screaming, banging on tables etc...for a solid two hours and the staff did nothing! ruined our meal, which wasnt cheap either! Made worse by rude staff attitude when I complained! Will never go back here and would not recommend it either! pfft!
A great surprise! Unassuming from the outside. Fantastic food and service inside. Perfect for a quick lunch with your team or a client... looking over the river with the Globe and Tate Modern as a backdrop. The snacks are immaginative and flavoursome. we opted for crab and potato doughnuts...delicious... and the beef tacos... subtle with a hint of chill and lime.I chose the Ox cheek and smoked tongue. A healthy portion of rich, tender, succulent amazingness. my colleagues chose the lamp rump... pink to perfection.deserts were delicious (both the cookie and the Apple tart), but we all thought the mains were the standout course.this is a great place for modern, quality European menu that is cooked well. The team really looked after us.I really cant recommend this place highly enough.Enjoy!
Dined here on Saturday evening and this was my first visit to northbank. Everything was faultless. the drink at the bar with the very friendly and knowledgeable bar tender (he assisted us choosing a gin to have fantastically). Once at the table, we were talked through the menu and guided as how much we needed to order. Food was spot on. My boyfriends ribeye was “one of the best he’s ever had” The manager on duty recommended a lovely bottle of wine. And it was reasonably priced. Finished off with the Cornish cheese selection. All in all, a wonderful evening and I will be back! And will recommend to friends.
The Service was absolutely appalling. We attended on a Saturday evening. First when we arrived, we were offered if we wanted to go to the bar before being seated. Myself and partner thought why not as we were out to celebrate our 10th anniversary. However there was no-one to serve us at the bar. We stood there like idiots watching the waitress talk to another party of people completely ignoring the fact we were stood there waiting for around 15min. Finally when seated at a table; we again waited another 15min to be acknowledged, we ordered our drinks which arrived 20 minutes after. The food was nice, which thankfully was a big bonus. Overall I dont recommend the restaurant, if your going for a special occasion. My low rating is specifically just towards, the waitresses who are unfriendly and for the very slow service. Tbh we attended this place based on previous positive reviews, which was not apparent on our visit.
Up market with in and outdoor seating by the river. £50pp includes wine. Check the menu first as the selection isnt to everyones taste. Unlikely to be a good meal for a veggie. Service was rather inattentive towards the end of our meal on a very quiet Saturday afternoon. Nice touch with free bday desert without asking. Lovely views of the river and the Tate.
For my friend’s receptionNice view but wasn’t that impressed by foodsToo strong flavours
Food was realy nice , price is ok, they have delucious drinks and the staffs are very nice. I recomend. They havr tables outside and inside.
Good set menu, perfect for a week night date night. The food won’t knock your socks off but it’s a good meal for the price (we spent £30 a head - adding sides onto the set two course menu and service). The unique thing about this restaurant is the view - as the name suggests, it’s on the north bank looking back at the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe. Overall a lovely dinner experience and a good location but probably not a venue for a big occasion.
One of the best steaks Ive ever had. Highly recommended for both food and drinks. Hats off to their Extremely appealing gin carte. A great place for a night out
Nice surroundings, friendly staff and good food. The seafood platter was pricey (£72 for two peoplebut nonetheless very tasty. Would definitely revisit.
A bit posh for my tastes, but the food was nothing to sneer at and the staff were very kind. Great experience in general. Good spot for a business lunch.
It was my second time and I would go again as it the food was absolutely delicious. Had the fish of the day (Hakewhich was prepared beautifully. I ordered roasted vegetables to go with it which were also tasty. The waiter and waitresses were very attentive. It is quite pricey unless you have a taste card. Love the location, looking over at The Globe and the hustle and bustle.
Ive been four times, and every time its absolutely delicious. Nice interior decor, views of the river, a rotating menu filled with grilled meat delights, and usually some kind of deal giving you half price off food for an incredible value lunch or dinner.
Dining at Northbank was a very pleasant experience. From the moment we walked in, staff made everything easy for us, were very attentive, friendly and detail oriented. We were seated in a wonderful spot by the window so we enjoyed views of the Shard and millennium bridge as we dined. The food itself was excellent. Everything well prepared and presented in a beautiful way. Fish of the day was delicious so was the crispy cornish pastry. In my opinion their interpretation of British food is one of my absolute favourites.Overall great experience, cozy place, good food.
Excellent food, amazing location and ambience and super kind staff. They also offer appetisers before your starters and its great value with taste card. You can get 50% off on a la carte menu and available also on Friday. Never super busy but its better to book you table in advance. Its also nice just for drinks. Very nice Aperol sprits!
Fabulous flavoursome food with beautiful presentation. The staff were very attentive and good with my food allergies helping adjust to accommodate. Nice bar area too and relaxed atmosphere in restaurant
Probably the worst service Ive experienced in years!Food was dropped on our table with out explanation - the two spoons of beetroot as an amouse bouche we dumped in front of me so my companion thought it was my starter until I asked the server what it was as she walked away!We ordered a bottle of wine which was kept on ice some distance away, so we were reliant on the staff to keep it topped up, however they let the glasses run dry and it was impossible to get their attention to come serve more despite the restaurant being far from busy. When they came to collect our plates I was finally able to ask for more wine and I was asked if I wanted to buy another glass so I had to point out we had more than half a bottle in the chiller. We ordered an extra carafe of red as my partner was having steak as their main (literally a plate with a slightly overcooked piece of ribeye and nothing else). When they arrived with the red wine, they put this on the table, then tried to pour white wine into his glass, so Im not sure what they thought the red wine was for - this is typical of the inattentive and thoughtless nature of the service at Northbank. Finally, after our meal we were the last party in the restaurant to leave as it took nearly an hour to get the attention of staff to receive the bill. I and my partner made eye contact and even resorted to waving at staff as they walked through our area repeatedly, and although they clearly saw us, they ignored us and walked past until finally my partner had to call out across the empty restaurant and ask for the bill. This was then brought with card machine and no chance to remove the automatically added, thoroughly undeserved service charge of 12.5%.In addition to the rubbish service, the food, though cooked with fresh seasonal ingredients, was uninspired. The seered scallops were anything but and served with overly sweet accompanying vegetables so it could have been a desert. The mussels were served in a abundance but in a very 1970s heavy cream sauce that overwhelmed them, and as I mentioned before the steak was thinly cut and overcooked (served medium/well done when asked for medium rareit as impossible to complain about the steak as the food was dropped on our table and following that no one came to check on the meal.I was really disappointed by this experience, at £170 for two people, I think its reasonable to expect some attention from the wait staff and not to be stuck with empty glasses for over 20 minutes. I certainly wont be returning and I really wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
Just OK. Dont misunderstand me, the place is in a great location and has splendid views. But thats mainly it. Menu doesnt have a big variety of food. Wine list is wide though. I ordered the slow cooked shoulder lamb, it was disappointing. Just a microwave reheated chopped lamb with mashed potato. I wont repeat.
We had a wonderful evening, we met up with family for drinks in the bar (do ask about happy hour offers and prosecco on Thursdays for the ladies), the staff (who were very goodare more likely to direct you to the top end of the wine list. The trendy bar has a wonderful view over the river (I think you can make reservations for big parties during the week). We had food in the restaurant which was very good. You pay a little extra for the location and ambiance, but its worth it for an occasion.
Been here twice now, and both experience were fantastic. Dishes are simple to allow quality of the fish to stand out. Steaks are also very good. Particularly worth it if you get a use an online deal.
Pretty good food. Can be quite pricey but theres often an offer on open table. Staff were attentive enough. Situated by the river so can go for a nice walk afterwards.
Rather overrated based on press reviews. Mussels were great, but under salted stock. Main course was too cold and fish a bit overcooked. But rather okay.Server was more like a sales-rep. Trying to sell more every time she came by the table. Makes the experience a bit stiff.Great location and view tho!
We had planned to sit on the balcony but the weather didnt allow for it. However, the staff had already realised our situation and set a table inside; very thoughtful. The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant. Will definitely go back there.
I hosted a lunch for 20 in the semi-private part of the restaurant with a set menu. Everything was perfect. The service was excellent - friendly and discreet. The food was delicious, from the original starters, beautifully cooked lamb. duck and fish mains to the delicious desserts and cheese platter. The location and setting by the river made it all the more enjoyable. Will definitely return!! Should add that the wines we chose were also excellent!!
Great place with a fantastic location right on the Thames. Very good food, best steak Ive had for a while. Service was attentive without being in your face too much. The bar area is also very well stocked with friendly barman.
Solid place to come check out. Was here for a holiday party so we had the place to ourselves. Staff was great as was the food. We had a good time. Cant say how it is normally. But probably worth checking out.
Every time I have gone, this restaurant has been amazing. Great British food brought in from Cornwall and very well cooked. Their steaks are fabulous as well as their more complicated dishes. I have recommended this to my friends many times. An excellent restaurant!
Superb quality of food and service. Managed to get a table last minute with no problem, and enjoyed a very well presented dinner. Worth a visit if you want a quiet and sophisticated evening.
We had an anniversary dinner and had a wonderful evening here. Yes, it is a little pricey but if youre prepared for it, its not a problem and the restaurant is part of the Taste card scheme, so you can get 50% off food. The staff are professional but personable and added to the charm of the evening. The restaurant itself is beautifully located on the banks of the Thames, tucked under the Millenium Bridge, with charming views and the food is lovely - imaginative, contemporary British food. My other half wants to make it one of our regulars and Im not arguing with him...The walk back to St Pauls is picturesque - I really cant fault the evening. It was a mid-week evening, so the staff probably had more time to be attentive but we were highly impressed by our evening at Northbank.
Contemporary British menu, beautify riverside views and friendly staff, what more could you ask for? The soup starter I had was way too salty, the lab main dish was undercooked, and the frozen strawberry desert was hard as a rock. It seems just a few small changes in how the kitchen operates and this place go from 3 to 5 stars, to match the premium price point
We went to Northbank to celebrate a friends birthday and the staff and service were great. The food was a slight let down. The soup starter was too salty and the pork (main dishwas undercooked so was difficult to cut and too chewy.
This is generally a nice place to eat and drink. I recommend getting a Top Table deal and spending most of your money on the cocktails - the food is still great on the deal menu, and it leaves you with plenty of cash for the awesome cocktails they serve - they have very friendly and helpful bar staff too. Cost is fine, just depends on how many cocktails you drink! (Cocktails are around 7 - 9 pounds).
Visited this place using a tastecard - which was probably what made this place worth it, cost-wise. When we arrived, the left side bar was well populated and the right side restaurant was still pretty uninhabited. A smiling man looked me in the eye when he welcomed me, same to my boyfriend. He took our coats and handed me a ticket before gesturing as a hand over to our server. We were immediately taken to the best couples table, right before the windows with a great view of the river. The decor has a classic / modern art theme going with wildlife wallpaper, draperies and dark wood, contrasting with frosted glass pieces and an old light bulb collection lighting fixture - pretty, clean, minimalistic without being boring at all. We had stopped in just for a main dish with intentions of not staying long as we were going to catch a 7.30 concert at the RCM. A lovely blonde young woman forgot to introduce herself but handed over the menus and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water - which arrived promptly. She took our orders and the food arrived very quickly; prime cuts of fish and very beautifully as well as deliciously done, as well as served perfectly. Asked us only once if everything was alright and how the food was and left us alone, but anytime we needed her she spotted us right away and made sure we got what we wanted. A different lady cleared the table but our original server came back and brought us the dessert menus. When I explained we needed to catch our concert, she smiled and simply said she would fetch the bill. I had cash, originally expecting there may be a long wait to use the card machine, etc, but even then it felt like moments to get everything sorted. And as we were putting our coats on by the door and she passed by carrying plates for another table, she paused to just duck her head toward us and say, "Thank you for coming, enjoy your concert!" All in all, I think its down to timing to get great service and a taste card not to balk at the prices - but I have to say I enjoyed myself, I got what I came for, the food was fantastic and the service perfect. I would recommend this place either earlier or later than the 7pm dinner rush hour.
42 of us for lunch and it all went swimmingly. Such mixed reviews here. Actually that was last May but Ive been a few times since (in smaller numbersand each time Ive found the service, food and atmosphere faultless. The location and views are terrific. Im taking a friend there on Monday and Im very much looking forward to it.
Nice location. Good Thames view. Friendly service. The food was flavorful, but my pork steak was a bit chewy/overdone. Maybe it was my mistake since the pork was from Suffolk, and the restaurant has a definite lean toward the southwestern counties. Id go back and try something different.
