Beautiful
Took my grandchildren to the canvas painting - they loved it, the instructor was great with his encouragement and praise this added to my grandchildrens enjoyment. We went up the 5 levels of the tower which had different information from the past, the grandchildren asked if I remembered some of it unfortunately the answer was yes 🫣 They then used the outside play area and again had a very enjoyable time - Will definitely take them again - big 👍 to the nice friendly staff 😀😀
MoreNo waiting. You can just walk in.
Reception not very helpfull found the chap wasnt very interested in anything I asked
MorePoorly attended & promoted needs a Coffee Shop to encourage footfall.
Very good time with lady from groundfloor. High level and elegance.
Great view at tower platform
Great place to spend some leisure timeGuy on reception was so helpful
Great place for all the family. Only problem is it only opens from 12 till 4
Excellent customer service, l was looking for postcards old and new of North Lanarkshire, they were only 20p each and the member of staff couldnt have been more helpful, he went into the back and came out with a large box of postcards.
MoreVisited to see an exhibition of the work of Oscar Marzaroli, Italian born photographer "adopted "by Glasgow. Exhibition was free of charge. The staff member present was friendly and helpful when required, but operated discreetly in the background so as not to impair your enjoyment of the exceptional photography being displayed.
MoreGreat place to find out about local history.
Staff are very helpful
Was here today with my wee boy very nice area plenty for young kids to do kept him happy staff were very helpful and friendly definitely be back here again 😀.
MoreIts a great place, would recommend!
Great day doing Tie dye with Hugh. Very friendly and the place is clean, organised, very informative.
MoreStaff were very helpful and eager to help and the view from the top is great, just a shame that they no longer have any of the interactive bits and old cinema and baths parts to walk around from when it was new. Actual exhibits are limited to only 3 levels in the lift hall and comprise of only a few items. What could be a good few hours wandering around the exhibits in the past is now only about 30 mins at the very most..
MoreInteresting local history and some interactive activities for kids. Good views from the top of the tower.
MoreBeen the video game exbition Ping to Playstation.
Great for the kids
Great wee place... but why has the best part of the centre been closed off ? The museum and wee cinema is no longer open . What a waste.
MoreFun for a sort time with the kids
Nice and friendly but organisation of events and advertising is not great
A lot of activities for the whole family x
Visited the Lanarkshire Archives section - amazing records and helpful staff
Brilliant! Just go; especially if you have children. But it is good for all ages!
MoreGood history lesson for kids
Good wee story about safety and views up top are great
Exhibition is good fun, with the chance for kids to play outside. Free entry also which is a bonus. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
MoreGreat museum with views over Motherwell.
Great activities for kids and interesting history for all.
Lovely place to find out about a lot of heritage
Umm. Mm.
We attend the bookbug on a Saturday morning. Sam is very good with the children and they really seem to like the whole centre. They have a large interactive area for the children in the entrance which allows the children to dress up and read books. Great fun free day out just a short walk from Motherwell Main Street. I would recommend a trip to the viewing platform at the top of the tower for those willing to brave the wind.
MoreThe heritage centre puts on a lot of activities for children through school holidays and things, I taken my girls a few times but its never really very organised and a little bit chaotic at times. The staff and its very clean though so thats always a plus in my eyes.
Morea waste of money they need to try and make it better for the kids and parents
Good place to see the town from the top of the tower
Brilliant place for a free day out, great for children and adults too.
The kids love it here especially the tower.
A lot of good and useful information. Good environment to study in
Great place to learn about the history of motherwell
Fantastic 360 degree views from the 5th floor viewing platform and a very interesting exhibition on local history on each floor.
MoreGreat information and help. Been 3 or 4 times and always had a great experience.
One of the features at the centre used to include Technopolis where people were allowed to feel part of Lanarkshires past, by re-creating scenes of eras including heavy industry and steel production. Domestic life of the area is re-created through various talking figures and interactive interpretation. However this part of the Heritage Centre was closed in 2011 and turned over to the storage of paper archives. There is also a gallery room, located at the ground floor, showing exhibitions provided by North Lanarkshire Council and also exhibitions outwith the local council area. Some international exhibitions are also on display there, and exhibitions are updated regularly. The local studies and family research room is where reference media such as PCs and Microfilm are based, that allow visitors to browse through local and personal records, usually to search for family ties or former occupations. Also, based within the heritage centre, is the viewing tower, located on the fifth floor of the building, giving an excellent view of the Clyde Valley region, the Campsie Fells, and of mountains from Tinto Hill to as far back as Ben Lomond, usually only viewable in sunny conditions. As well as those features, there is a gift shop that sells a range of books about local heritage, and also items typical of a museum/heritage centre gift shop (postcards, toys, sweets etc.).The centre is also wheelchair accessible, with lifts in operation inside the centre.
MoreIts ok alot of local information about the history of the area
Good insights into local history and great views.
Great for young and old
Great facility with a superb viewing tower to experience panoramic views of Motherwell and the surrounding area. The viewing tower has an observation telescope to enable you to fully explore the amazing view. An interesting array of exhibitions are on display as you progress up to the viewing platform level.
MoreKids love the Heritage centre. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Resources and educational and also fun for kids. Everything is set up and presented ww
