Contemporary takes on Italian classics star at this warehouse-chic trattoria with a lively bar.
Updating a previous post. Dont judge a place by a first experience. Mine wasnt the best. Tonight I had a great time and had great service. The food was delicious and my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! Theyre always busy so making a reservation is a must. Very happy to have given this place a second chance.
First time eating here. It was recommended by my sister and was definitely worth it. Everything we got was delicious!
Love the atmosphere here, good music, food, and happy hour.
Always a lovely meal at North Italia and the service is exceptional. Straying some from our usual order of pasta or pizza, we had an exceptional hanger steak entree. Wines by the glass were wonderful and paired perfectly with the meal. Always look forward to returning!
This is one of my favorites restaurants in town. I have tried everything vegetarian, and have had the chef accommodate certain dishes to vegetarian, and absolutely loved all of them. Service is always amazing too. The menu changes slightly from time to time and it is always to add something new and delicious. Their rose selections are great too! Ive been here for brunch, lunch, and dinner, and it is definitely one of my top recommends in town!
very good food and waitstaff !this from Quora regarding staff sweeping and cleaning frenetically around you is applicable though!"Yes, it bothers me a lot. It is uncleanly, uncouth, and inconsiderate. When you are at a restaurant you are a guest, and a paying guest. Would you sweep your kitchen floor around a house guest while they were eating breakfast or lunch at your table? Would you vacuum the dining room while they ate dinner? Of course not. Keep the filthy broom and dustpan away from people who are eating food, it’s common sense."
Always excellent food and excellent service. Went to celebrate my birthday. Ernesto and team were amazing! Thank you!
Wonderful Italian entrees and appetisers. My only negative comment is North Italia is very noisy due to an absence of sound absorbing features.
My scallop dish was ok - super salty and the risotto isnt traditional - overloaded with corn and asparagus which takes over the flavor of the dish. I knew it was served this way so I ordered plain risotto - it came out with all of the corn and asparagus so I had to wait while the rest of the table ate and they were finished by the time my dish came. Im also used to sangria being served with fruit. Theirs is served with a garnish of a tiny slice of orange...it was fruity wine. Lots of ice and no fruit... regrettable.
Was seated in a timely manner while on wait list. Great style and decor. Open and lovely natural light inside. Great food and drink. Service was excellent, Server was polite and very professional. Me and my family loved it.
Went for a dinner me and my wife for our anniversary. The girl at the front was so professional I felt welcomed she got a beautiful attitude i give her 5 stars. And servers were very nice also professional staff are great. Environment is amazing. I would go again beautiful restaurants. Also food is awesome we had some salad and wild shrimp and pizza so testy and I can test each flavor love the food. However we order torta for dessert and was togo.. so we got home and found a silver hair inside the torta😩😔 !!!! Thats why I cant give 5 stars .My advice to all staff please check food before handing it to customer.
We had a very excellent brunch. The lemon doughnuts are amazing. 🥵 A warning for those who dont like spicy food, the vodka sauce on the pizza was quite hot which is unusual for that sauce.
Delicious Cesar salad followed by spicy rigatoni a la vodka. Accompanied by a glass of Hess Cabernet Sauvignon. Friendly waitress. Second visit here and will not be my last.
Best pasta I have ever tasted in a restaurant. I had chicken parmesan and it was SO good! We were seated right away and our orders taken quickly. The atmosphere was cool and comfortable on a very hot Arizona day.
I am not sure why I didn’t write a review before, but North Italia is one of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. I tried couple things but my favorite so far is chicken parmesan and margarita pizza. Both are so tasty! The restaurant design is also so nice. I tried inside and outside. In the winter outside is so nice with the fire places and the whole atmosphere is so nice. In the summer they have water splashes but for me it is still hot so I prefer inside. The workers are so friendly and usually the orders don’t take so long. Highly recommend! :)
Pleasant looking establishment. Food was average chain Italian quality. with above average prices. Menu felt very limited. Drinks were more interesting than food choices.
Seems many places have turned mediocrity into standard operating procedure these days. Not here. Everything was excellent. The service was fast and friendly. The food was good. The restaurant decor and ambiance also very nice. Just a great environment to converse with friends and enjoy great food.
Overall we really enjoyed our meal here. I wasn’t a fan of the salad. We were able to get smaller portions of the pastas and it was the perfect amount. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful.
Very loud n I requested a view n didnt get one also waited when I had made a reservation. Food was pretty tasty. But atmosphere wasnt elegant or romantic. Service was fine. Was nice
The place is really nice it’s in a really good spot and the food is really good… unfortunately the service here is slow since there are a lot of people. Our waiters did not pay a lot of attention to our table. I tried calling about 5 employees none of them came and about 2 of them ignored me I just wanted the wifi password.
Best Meatball Sandwich I have ever had from a restaurant! The bread 🍞 is amazing. My waiter Jacob showed and displayed wonderful hospitality. Was a treat for my first time here.
I love North Italia! The food is always good, and the service is good. The restaurant’s atmosphere is comfortable, light, and airy. I love it, visit all the time and recommend it to everybody. The last few times we’ve been there I observed a couple of things that made our experience a little unpleasant.1. Management, please consider closing the front doors and investing on some flies repelling products. Flies are disgusting and it’s just annoying to have to eat with one hand and keep protecting your food with the other.2. Our servers have always, always been great, but noticed that there’s a lot of employees just hanging around in the front, some looked new and looked like lost puppies and that’s understandable, others looked more experienced. Give people assignments to do when the restaurant is busy, as this always is, so they don’t clutter the face of your restaurant.3. For some reason the female servers were wearing different color and style tops while the male servers were all wearing their typical denim attire, which I find super cool btw!, but I don’t think is a good look when you don’t have a cohesive image among your staff.
First time my wife and I had been there. Lots of people love it. I personally am on the fence. Service was good, food was better than average, would I rush back, no. My meal was barely warm and we did wait a bit for our dinners. Thats my 2 cents.
Amazing!! Everything here is made with love and from scratch. I am so incredibly happy and full. The pesto pasta was the winning dish here and the staff was so amazing. Kaedyn was our server and they were so wonderful. I loved their tattoos and it made me feel super welcome having a nice convo. Going to visit the Phoenix locations now since this was so amazing!
Great dinner , great service, clean comfortable surroundings
food is not bad but the restaurant was Very crowded and they have delay in service l have to wait too long to get my food.
Good food for our lunch but a little pricey. Our server, Daniel G. Gave us the best service I have had in years. He made it outstanding.Start with the crispy calamari and arugula for a small plate to share. End with sharing the butter cake with warm blue berry. You will leave happy.
This place not only has high quality food and service but also high quality heart. Weve always had a great experience at North, but the kindness and attention the staff and manager Vitor gave my mother when she had a completely unrelated medical issue was really above and beyond. They were quick to come to her help, stayed with her until the ambulance arrived, and were so helpful and kind I cannot thank them enough. xxxooo North!
We had dined at North Italia while visiting Tucson - it was our first visit and we were so impressed with all our dishes. The service was so good and our waiter walked is through his favorites to help us decide what to order. Food was delicious, cocktail were good, ambiance is really nice.
It took us a bit wait to get the table despite of being a Thursday night. This north Italia restaurant is a bit different than the one in Vegas! Better, I’d say. I like how the receptionist greeted us from behind a flowery cartwheel. The food is as good as the other one. Only thing is that my friend’s dish was a bit on the too much mushroomy taste side. But considering it’s a truffle based dish, not much complaints there…. All in all, great food & service!
The staff was not personable at all! Everyone was cold. Our server was dry and seemed annoyed that we were there to dine. Was not impressed with the pizza it was a little greasy and the crust had zero flavor. The other dish was pretty good but no flavors really stood out to be unique, that best thing we had was the appetizer shrimp and bread with some roasted galic. There are much better options in town for the price you pay and at least someone in the place will say hi or conversate a little. Really would give 2.5 stars
We ordered an appetizer of white truffle garlic bread. It was delicious. We also ordered the Prosciutto (the bottom pizzaand The Pig. Worth going back.
Had half portion of the Seasonal Vegetable salad with chicken plus half portion of a pasta dish (forget the name& both were fabulous. Husband had the chicken parmesan sandwich & loved it. Service was excellent.
Super delicious food! The farmers market board appetizer is an incredible display of healthy veggies and complementary snacks and sauces. However, it was the Italian butter cake that made it 5 stars for me. They also have Harney and Sons tea-Paris accompanies the cake perfectly!
Went for a friends dinner was delicious. It was very busy so service was great if you are there to chill and talk to enjoy conversation. There were many of us and the two waitresses who took care of us did an exceptional job. The food was quality worth it. Can taste the love put into the food!
Unfortunately, the Staff leave the Front Door Open and the Flies are Welcomed in for ‘Preferred Seating’ to land on the Food, the Eating Utensils (Flatware), the open Food Prep Station by the Chocolate and the Pasta Prep Station. Some of the Breads were covered, but not all and not one Kitchen Staff Member had a Hair Net on while they cooked or Prepped the Food. Unhygienic and unsightly. This lack of professionalism by Management should not be tolerated nor should it be excused.*[There is no response required by North Italia’s Management to this Review; just address the obvious issues!]*Thank you~
It’s located in a pretty area. We got the meat and cheese board for an appetizer and it was incredible. The pasta was also excellent. The serving was large enough that I got to enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day.
One of my favorite restaurants in town, hands down. The location, staff and ambience is very inviting along with delicious food and drinks to boot. I highly recommend the chicken pesto and chef’s board!
I had the chicken pesto (and I think the other one is the glazed short rib cavatelli?). Both costs around $20 per dish but the quality was amazing. You can definitely tell from the first bite that the pasta was indeed made fresh; there’s a chewiness that’s impossible in store-bought pasta. Compared to other similar-priced restaurants that shall remain unnamed (but might begin with a cheese and end with a factory), I’d say North Italia offers the same dish with much better quality. Will be coming back soon!
They were and are amazing. This was our first time here. We made reservations just to make sure we had a table and didnt have to wait long. The restaurant was busy and the staff was very busy as well. They were very efficient at getting people in and out. All of the food is made fresh there at the restaurant and was very good. Our waiter was very friendly and made a few suggestions. The food was really good and loved the atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back and I would recommend everyone check this place out.
The best Italian restaurant in Tucson. Outstanding service by all. Great atmosphere. We will definitely return!
Superb indoor and outdoor seating with a good mix of pastas, salads, pizzas and everything else.A classic La Encantada restaurant with friendly and attentive team members make North a must visit to get great views of the Santa Catalina mountains while enjoying fine Italian cusinse. The Salmon Kayle salad was tasty alongside the happy hour meatballs
The first time I came here years ago, I did not think the food was authentic. Yesterday I came back after three years and I thought that the food has got much better and is very close to real Italian food. We had a great time and one of the appetizers we chose was taken off from the bill. The patio is really nice and you can actually dine at a circular table with a fire pit in the center.
My review is based on a delivery order. The pesto pasta is great but the ginger tastes strong and the risotto arancini is salty from the out side so I only ate the rice in side .Thus it’s really good food , I bet the rest of the menu is great 👌🏾
Went for happy hour and had a blast. We sat outside and ordered sangria, 2 pizzas and the zucca chips. Everything was great along with the service. The restaurant is really large so we had plenty of space and felt very safe. The happy hour specials pricing is very reasonable too.
Reasonably priced happy hour with an excellent board and wine combo. Waiter was kind and did a great job checking in on us throughout the evening. Will be back!
I did enjoy my time here, awesome service, good quality food, and very nice patio area. I ordered Italian salad and it was definitely above average, the tiramisu though was delicious! Just a side note, if you don’t want to have over 1000 calories for a meal, you shouldn’t probably go here, most of the items on the menu have more than 1200 calories and it was a challenge to find a decent dish with less than a 1000 calories.
Service is good. Atmosphere is pleasant although can be quite noisy at times. Dining outdoors during Tucsons cooler months is nice. Husband did not approve of pasta. He said it was far too al dente. I like it that way.
Fox restaurants are exceptional, and this place never dissappoints us. Flavorful food with great ambiance and vibe. The diver scallops are excellent, but you only get three. Theyre pretty good sized, but 4 would be better. The roasted salmon is amazing, i dont know how they get it crispy but tender at the same time. The zucca chips are a perfect snack as well. Be sure to check out this place if youre ever in the area. Attentive service, but our server didnt mention any of the specials. We found out from table next to us.. no big deal.
The place it amazing! Food is outstanding and you can watch them making it. They have stacks of handmade pasta to view as you walk to your table. My experience is the staff are upbeat, efficient, and cohesive. The setting is beautiful. Prices are moderate.I would go again tomorrow if I lived close.
