North Coast Co-op - Supermarket in McKinleyville, United States
Yummy brownies and Lemon pound cake was bomb!!
Employees are friendly. I enjoy shopping here. I especially enjoy coming here to get some fresh yummy Brio bread they sell.
Coffee was not good, actually undrinkable
Very nice people beautiful woman everywhere
Their sandwiches are amazing! As a vegetarian, I often only have one option at delis, but the Arcata co-op had THREE veg options. I ordered the picante pickle patch, and it was amazing! The popcorn tofu was delicious too! In addition to this, their mango selection is the best Ive seen in CA. When we went, I saw five varieties of mango! A must-visit!
I love this store so much.
I really enjoy shopping here. Prices are a bit higher but well worth the cost for the flavor and quality of the organic produce. The variety of mushrooms and coffees is my favorite thing about this place.
Beautifully laid out store. Displays are great, products are wonderful. Expensive, but worth it for special items (especially the produce and meat department). I dont do my regular grocery shopping here, so when I come in, its always an exciting visit.Wish there was a bakery area.
Steller salad bar and bulk section. Bring ya bags
I love shopping at co-ops. This one has a really excellent bulk selection and the creations from the deli and meat departments looked amazing. Theyre grocery section seemed super balanced. Their wellness section was a tad small but still seemed to carry all the essentials. I will definitely come back here next time Im in the area.
Best produce section, has more local produce than any groceries. Great local meats, breads, bulk: grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, rices, pastas, and more. Wonderful, extensive bulk spices and tea and coffee selections. Nice deli and fabulous bakery, specialty coffees and smoothies, sushi makers,..lovely employees.
They are judgemental, rude, inconsiderate. Eureka naturals is the way to go. I spent so much money there and got harassed last time i was there like i was shoplifting, but in reality i have really bad anxiety add and OCD disorder so it takes me a while sometimes, even tho having spent thousands there. They made me feel so singled out i had anxiety attack and was crying and had to leave. And tried explaining that to manager and she was just judgemental and really mean to me. Never again !!!
If youre looking for great selection of all natural organic grocery options the North Coast co-op is a great store. They have a location in downtown Arcata as well as the location in Eureka. You will find a bakery a deli a meat department bulk items they also have a nice garden department out front as well as Im sure youre aware prices are going to be significantly higher than your average grocery store but I think if you compare prices with typical grocery stores selling the same items theyre going to be relatively the same Plus the co-op is local so the money is going to stay here versus shopping at Safeway or WinCo I strongly encourage people to shop local whenever possible grocery options similar to the co-op will be Murphys markets which have five locations in Humboldt County and its a family-owned local business wild berries in Arcata and Eureka natural foods in Eureka and McKinleyville
Its great 👍. Very respected. Top produce, dry goods, and meat/fish. Deli all wholesome. A great shopping experience ☺️
I love the co-op but the staff gives me bad vibes any time I come in for no good reason. I always end up just going to Wildberries or the Eureka location.
Great cheese and beer. Its been a long time since I had a coffee there but 10 years ago this one employee made the best coffee ever. Best bakery in humboldt.
Best grocery store I’ve ever been to! Visiting Arcata and can’t get over how good their selection is! They have a deli with amazing food and drinks and tons of vegan options! Plus very centered around zero waste and the community.
We were visiting Arcata for a week and stopped by this store everyday. The staff were super helpful in recommending alternatives. Their salad bar stocked gave us a nice selection of fixings. They also roll sushi right there too.
Love this place! Great food selection and the deli makes the best sandwich I’ve had in years. All of the staff are normally very friendly, I can’t help but feel like the employee at the cafe hates me every time I order a small iced coffee though? They go from being very friendly to literally huffing, puffing and slamming cups around. Anyways love this place and definitely one of the best local co-ops I’ve been to.
Great grocery store, fresh vegetables, meats, bakery with wonderful cake varieties and coffee/juice bar. Gifts too
Very nice little place! Kind of expensive but the food was good (had a breakfast sandwich), the place was clean, and I was happy that I didnt have to be a member to shop there.
The best place to grocery shop in Arcata! Overlook the supposed deals offered by chain groceries, budget buyers can enjoy the extensive selection of bulk bin choices of beans, grains, dried fruits, spices, snacks, nuts, and so much more! A real source of local products (from pasture-raised humane eggs that you can visibly see are healthier from brown shells and bright golden yolks, to creamed flavored honeys made by nuns at the nearby monastery, to the left-overs of fresh produce from humble Humboldt farmers after the farmers marketquality comes before quantity here. A wide selection of California wines and Humboldt county beers and ciders are available, along with imported favorites. Vegans and vegetarians are welcome, even in the deli. If local, become a lifetime member and enjoy monthly discounts.
Clean store. Friendly staff. Interesting local offerings. A little pricey but always worth it. Definitely recommend.
When I like to throw money at quality, expensive, locally produced foods this is my favorite place to shop. When Im broke, it is best to stay away. Finally, after 30 years of hemming and hawing, became a member this year. Well worth it in every way. Should have done so back in 87.
Very rude lady behind the deli counter.I simply asked about sandwiches & got cut off, & a very condescending “yeah, we aren’t making sandwiches right now”I don’t think I’ll ever return to this location in the future.
The Eureka Coop is always clean and well kept and the floor workers are helpful. The produce is spectacular but the prices are pretty dang high. They do a great job on mask wearing and not getting too many clients inside at once.
Very nice selection of produce and fresh meat, even more variety than the Eureka location. The only downside is the tight parking lot.
Its been years since I visited Arcata, and one of my sure pitstops was to visit the Arcata Co-op, which I assume is now the North Coast Co-op. I was not disappointed. I *think* its a new location, or at least a rebuilt property, with all the good stuff that you want and expect from a people-oriented grocery and takeout location. Ample parking, friendly associates, careful management of incoming patrons, respectful, MASKED customer waiting line, excellent selection of teas, hot sauces, breads, cereals and basically almost everything, at reasonable prices. Every town should be so lucky. Bought my son a membership was easy and satisfying, & he will enjoy it during his time at HSU.
As a longtime member and supporter of the coop I could not be prouder of my experience today shopping in the store. All precautions for safety were exercised better than Ive seen in almost all other places.Well done and thank you!
Great selection of vegan foods. Bakery is high quality. Service has always been friendly. Slightly pricey, but worth it for the high quality foods and happy, well-paid employees.
Always a pleasant experience. They have one of the widest selections of gluten free products and helpful staff to direct you to the omes you need. The vegetables and fruits are largely local and organically grown and so always fresh and tasty
Grab a made to order sandwhich on local Brio bread, or a soup before you shop to curb any uneccessary spending due to impulsive "hunger buys". This place supports local farmers and lists the distance away from their supplier, so you really get to see how "local" you are eating. As its a co-op, you can receive member discounts monthly and save.
Love the sales staff at the Arcata Co-op. The store has great healthy selections with wonderful seasonal items. Fun to explore each departments new options and learn about them by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. I love the North Coast Co-op!!! 😍
I like the Co-op their sushi is good. I always find parking space and the employees are very friendly. The bakery area plays great music. I havent tried their drinks sorry.
One of the best bulk departments Ive ever seen! My one complaint is that they dont honor memberships from other food co-ops (as other co-ops do). I visit Arcata for a bit every few years, so a membership is not reasonable for me. Im already a member at 2 co-ops in Washington...
Great selection for specialty and high quality food, but prices reflect that. Many of the shoppers are locals more interested in a conversation than a meal, so not great if youre in a hurry but interesting if you have the time to enjoy Arcatas charm.
This is the perfect food store. The vegetables beautiful they taste so good. Great selection of cheeses and wine. The deli counter for a fresh salad and other prepared meals.
This place is amazing. I could go on for hours about how much this place rocks. I love it. They have great floral, best sushi in town. Custom rolls available even. Wonderful coffee spot. Deli, butchers, cosmetics, and whole store is AWESOME!!
wonderful food! excellent service. sounds and light are vivacious. finish of bar and entire interior and acoustics is fantastic, uptown City vibe, yet casual and comfortable, menu as affordable as anyone might like, if you order that way, or you may have exactly what you want at a fair price for the considerable quality. coming back! new fav!!!
My favorite place in the world to buy groceries. People, both customers and staff people often are extremely friendly. Not rare to get into nice little spontaneous conversations. Definitely a place to go for a feeling of community and Good Vibes
A very nice store with nice people but if you are doing a weekly shopping it is worth going into Eureka to Eureka Natural Foods. The CoOp is pricey and often doesnt have the things I buy on a weekly basis. I only use it to run in for things I forgot.
I LOVE this grocery store! Local fresh organic produce and meat, great bakery, wonderful hot food and deli, nice knowledgeable employees, just a wonderful place to shop and get ideas for meals.
Best store for organic foods and local options. Prices are competitive for like products. Great bulk section. Also has some sushi and brewing supplies.
Every cashier at the co-op has been courteous, some even having interesting personalities. I love the community feeling of shopping at the co-op. I also appreciate the adequate vegetarian options they have (Im a flexitarian). Prices are more expensive than a typical store but it is justified in how workers are treated and given benefits and knowing that makes me want to shop here as often as I can. All in all, the co-op has a distinct, nice atmosphere and is always stocked with interesting goods.
Always accommodating with a smile. They bring me the electric cart because I have trouble walking. Everyone is happy to get me thing I need from higher shelves. Cashiers very helpful helping me out items on the he counter. Since I last right across street they let me use electric cart to get across street bringing my Walker for me. They put my groceries on the Walker, help me onto the curb. Love shopping at co op in Arcata.
I miss this place whenever I travel. Truly a community grocery store. What I like best is that I learned how to bring my own jars and containers and fully utilize the bulk options that this Co-op offers. The staff welcomed a "newbie" like me and trained me on the "how toos" of using containers from home.
The staff is great but they constantly provide misinformation about GMOs and natural food. I get it...they are selling organic food so they are promoting it but the Co-op used to be about spreading information about food and not misinformation to sell products. They refuse to look at the mountains of studies showing GMOs are safe and organic food isnt actually much better.
As far as Co-ops go, this is a very nice store. They carry a great variety of products. Their produce section is second to none. They make amazing sandwiches. Customer support is mediocre. And they dont honor other co-op memberships. So if youre traveling through, dont even bother to show your membership card from another co-op, theyll just tell you to put it away.
Prices are high, but for good reason. The selection is great. The products are numerous, many available nowhere else. They have an end cap devoted to licorice candy. What else can I say? I love it.
This place is awesome and the people are so nice. The prices are a bit high for what you buy... I know its organic but really now. :-Every organic food store does it tho! Highly recommended!
