Noodlebox in Nanaimo

Waited for 30 minutes. They started cleaning up and didn’t even begin making our order until they were reminded. We were sitting waiting and watching everyone cleaning up. Our orders were all messed up. I asked for Mac & cheese with chicken and it had no chicken. I asked for pad Thai with tofu and it came with pork. Fried rice with pork and it came with both tofu and pork. There was an allergy alert for egg and nut and I ordered rice noodles. The box arrived with two different types noodles and as far as I understand, there is only one style of rice noodle. They are now closed and we can’t exchange anything. Stupidly gave a tip at ordering. Last time I’m doing that.

I followed the recommandation, teriaky + hokkien noodles. The mix was good, but not very impressed by the meal for the price. It was a little less than 20$ for a box with chicken and a nestea can. Not a lot of flavour, not spicy at all, some brocoli were still raw, just warm.There were only 2 people before me. I was lucky since I got my meal in about 8 minutes. People arriving after me had to wait 10 to 15 minutes.All that to say, I dont see myself going there again, especially for the price and the wait to get your food, which will probably be a bit disapointing.

They have dine in, take out and Door dash. Friendly staff and great food.

Nice to have some gluten free options, zucchini noodles are delish.

This place has gone down hill fast.. today I ordered a medium spice ginger beef meal and it was nuclear hot with ZERO ginger flavour or any other flavour other than hot peppers. My stomach has decided that I’ll never go back again.

I ordered food last night and they upped their prices without letting me know. I paid $21 for 1 single noodlebox. I asked for medium spicy and I got EXTRA spicy. I couldn’t even eat it and it destroyed my insides. What a waste. I will be taking my business to the North store next time.

Went for lunch yesterday. Friendly new employee working at the counter, good experience with her.The kitchen staff were too busy eating, chatting and checking out the one employees bum to care about the food they were prepping. My friend ordered hot for spicy and it was bland, I ordered chow mein and they served ginger beef with rice.Maybe the employees should smoke less pot before coming to work.

Do NOT get the spicy peanut noodle box nor the Cambodian jungle curry box. They were so salty that it tasted bitter. I challenge the "chefs" to finish the whole portion without getting sodium induced hypertension.

They can’t offer steady quality. I miss the original noodlbox in China town Victoria.. last few times in this branch has been disappointing .

Waited over 30 minutes for the order while watching people that ordered behind me get their order first. Ordered medium hot but had been given no spice. Burnt pieces from the pan throughout the whole meal followed by waaaaay too much sauce. I use to love eating here but after this experience I’d rather not waste my time.

Great idea, lousy organization.. we were drawn into the place by a menu posted outside.. and it was helpful.. or so we thought..?We knew just what we wanted, had the correct cash in hand for food and drinks, but the problem started when the totals were wrong.. like maybe $4 and I asked why?The manager is called, he stops cooking.. walks over.. his smile disappears & I think more than one of staff guffawed.. "ya, thats the old price.. you can be forgiven for the error.. forces a laugh.. so, did you want the food or not?"We said, "hey, bait & switch much"?They snickered more as we voted with our dollars and walked out.

The store suppose to close at 2000. Although they had sign that they are closing earlier at 1800 they did not take my order at 1740. Unprofessional management

Im on vacation from. Montreal, and my hotel is very near to this place. I waited quite awhile for my order, but I wasnt upset because it was a busy place, so I thought it wood be good. I got my order, took it back to my hotel, and this is where the disappointment started. First of all, no utensils or chop sticks, second of all, no flavor! There was no sauce! Just a bunch of noodles, chicken pieces, and sprouts and vegetables. I was soooo disappointed. There was literally no taste to this bland and unappetizing concoction. I love noodles, but this was catastrophic. If youre going to forget something, dont make it the thing that gives it the flavor. What a waste of money. Cant believe I actually tipped. Sad.

Yikes. I used to eat at the original noodle box I. Victoria all the time, but I hadnt had it in at least a decade. I had my jungle curry, my partner had the Szechuan chicken, and my kid had the Mac and cheese and they all didnt taste like anything? Like, completely devoid of flavor. I had heard noodle box had gone down hill since expanding, but this was honestly shocking. The only reason Im not giving one star is that it didnt taste bad or was undercooked, it just didnt taste like anything at all

Went in there with my mother, got her order wrong and then genuinely forgot to make my food. Then they got my order wrong aswell.Their music is absolutely blasting in there, and the cashiers speak timidly. They cant understand you, and you cant understand them.The food tastes moderate.

Well that was a terrible meal and a waste of money. My mouth and lips were coated in oil, all I could taste was oil. Had the Teriyaki box. I think they forgot the Teriyaki because there was no favor. Not good , not good at all.

Fast service. Food was got and delicious. Spice level was just right.

I love noodle box *when they get it right. Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s all the locations, or just this one, but consistency is a big issue. Sometimes it’s too saucy, sometimes not enough, noodles over-cooked/mushy, no flavour/too spicy. Hopefully it gets better, it’s nice having them there.

Good food, lots of flavor and good heat...never disappoints. Three of us dined in and everyone loved the food...

Had the peanut noodles, medium-hot with grilled chicken. Super good, should have just done medium - was a bit too spicy for me. Huge serving and hit the spot.

Food is great, BUT eating out of a small box ruins the entire experience.. its so small and gets really messy!I recommend you put ALL your noodles in a bowl from now onI know its called noodleBOX but cmon....

Peanut box and spring rolls. Peanut noodle box tasted of seafood and other menu items, badly overcooked, and incredibly greasy. Spring rolls were burned and tasted like the fryer oil was dirty. Even the dipping sauce smelled bad and not the usual dipping sauce for spring rolls. Normally Noodle Box is delicious, but it has been more miss than hit lately.

Went and ordered a meal to go two Saturdays ago. Got there and realized I forgot my mask. I pulled up my sweater and poked my head in to ask if they had a mask or could bring order to me. Was promptly and rudely told to leave. Told him my situation and was rudely told to leave again. No arguments as covid rule is covid rule. Phoned in said throw my order in the garbage. Phoned another business and told them my problem. No problem was the reply, they not only have me a mask they brought machine out to me and order. Guess who wanted the business more. Never will order here again.

I have no idea what these other reviewers are talking about. Today, I ordered the Teriyaki Box and it was so fantastic that I ate it before I could even snap a photo!The dish was nice and hot, full of flavour and tasty as heck! Sure, the Cambodian Spring Roll I got was laughably small, but the main dish still wowed me, through and through.I highly recommend Noodlebox for takeout and I will be trying more of their dishes soon!

Ive been in this location so many times, thew FOH are awesome, but the food is mediocre to tasteless, not sure if they check the seasoning ? three times now , I order food and it taste nothing. Ive been to noddle box in Victoria and even the first one , this location food suck to be honest, Ive giving you so many chances, but not anymore

Yuk! Really….Wow, probably the all-time worst takeout meal ever. The menu descriptions all sound wonderful, making it difficult to decide what to order….finally decided on the Cambodian Jungle dish. That was my first time there so not sure if all dishes are equally awful, but this one… tiny tidbits of ultra mushy noodles mixed with the odd small piece of vegetable in some sort of bland brownish sauce. The one and only partially decent thing about it was the dime sized piece of papaya sitting on top. After eating that I tried my best to eat the rest but just couldn’t! It ended up in the garbage after a few bites….and I never waste food easily. Go to the burrito place a few doors down instead. My friends did and their meal looked and tasted great.

Not bad if you dont mind rolling the dice spice wise. Ordered here around 20 times Everytime medium hot, usually too mild but occasionally inedible 🥵🥵It seems the level of heat/amount of chilis is left to the discretion of whichever $10/h "cook" is back there.Had to throw last nights order in the garbage ($35so I wont go back.

My spring roll order was incorrect. I ordered pork not veg. The sauce was incorrect. The price of all menu items has become outragous. The last time I ordered the spicy peanut was beyond bland. I could make it better at home. There is no more loyalty program (even though I was told it was being revamped and brought back and then never did)I have been a very loyal customer since the first chinatown location in Victoria so Im so dissapointed I try and give these restaurants a chance. The quality has gotten so bad. A customer has been lost.

This noodle box at one time used to be a go for us. We had been numerous times with no issues, but we recently had been there this past week and ordered 3 seperate times as we are renovating the kitchen.. all 3 times the food was cooked incorrectly, the wrong order made for us and the added in ingredients that were not asked for or part of the regular. On top of our own order our friends orders were also messed up all 3 times. Major major letdown and will not be visiting here again

I want to thank Cooper for the excellent service i received today. Cooper went above and beyond and i am very grateful. I ordered the Teriyaki with chicken it was excellent and i even have enough for another meal. I will definitely be back soon. Thanks again.

Food didnt have any spice. We ordered medium heat and got none at all. They were very bland and hardly tasted like anything. I dont know if they have to stretch the ingredients because of Covid or something but I know I remember noodle box being pretty darn good in the past.

The food is good but the service is terrible at the Port Place location. You should be happy I walked all the way down there to support you through these tough times, but instead your employees couldnt look me in the eye and talked to each other throughout my transaction. Ill never go back and they probably wont miss me.***UPDATE*** The owner or manager got in touch with me and wanted to make it better. I declined to talk with him. However, the service is better and Im happy to say I havent had a bad experience in the four times Ive been there since the original post.

Would definitely give this place a NO star, but that option is not available! The description of the foods on the menu are AMAZING enticing you with exotic flavors and fresh ingredients all made to your liking, but in reality what you get is a one flavour (tastelessSLOP...one dish wash flushed down the toilet because it tasted and smelled completely bland with no flavour (Cambodian jungle curryand the Italian style box could be best described as wallpaper paste ( not joking )...have eaten at many similar style competition restaurants and have to say will definitely be going back to them as this is a style of food I very much enjoy!...would not even recommend Noodlbox with a free coupon, most definitely steer clear of this money grab establishment.

Just tried noodlebox for the first time last week. Had it about 4 times since. Ordered the same thing everytime! So good! (Thai Style Chow Mein x2 beef x2 brocolli, medium/hot)Unfortunately today i believe the cook used WAY too much cilantro! Its all I can taste and seriously makes this not as enjoyable as the rest of my visits.Is consistency not a thing? Or is it a new cook?There was also a bunch of cilantro just dropped on top too.Dont get me wrong...i like cilantro...but not so much that its the only thing I taste...Only giving 2 starts cause the rest of my visits were better than this.Seriously not enjoyable. Which is a shame...i thought this was going to be my new favourite place!The only redeeming factor of this meal was it was super spicy and took away from the cilantro flavour a bit!If a manager would like to reply that would be amazingOrdered around 7-7:15pm on Jan 27th/21**EDIT***More than half way through my box now....ordered x2 broccolli and x2 beef...i have had a total of 3 brocolli pieces

I like to grab Noodlebox on the go sometimes, but Ive been let down by poor quality recently. I ordered a medium-hot Butter Chicken chicken to go, it was 80% rice, and the sauce had ZERO spice. Plus the Naan was way over-fried, (hardly edible). Is anyone overseeing quality control? Talk to your staff. Not worth $14.

High hopes and high prices.Ordered two peanut noodle boxes, both with chicken, both medium heat.They made one, forgot about the other. Server, nice girl, caught the miss and gave us an unsolicited 2$ card. Guys in the back were not really paying attention, and another server out front was eating her dinner where the food gets served... Not really covid friendly..When we were eating our pricey food, one was missing all the protein. One was mild heat and the other was crazy heat...I would hope that an expensive fast food place, where a tip is prompted on the machine BEFORE you get your food, would have a little more effort spent on getting the order correct.

Laughably bad. Its like they never even heard of salt. The Thai chow mein I got was the most bland matter with the toughest pieces of chicken. The worst meal of the summer. Spicy peanut with chashu pork was slightly more palatable.

Sort of good if you need something in a hurry. This location specifically is extremely inconsistent and food is generally very bland. Aside from how much sambal they throw in depending on how hot you want your dish, actual seasoning and flavour is pretty much non existentOwners/managers should be taking a more hands on approach instead of throwing these young workers to the wolves. I see the employees are working really hard and that theres a clear lack of management

This location is far and away the best in Nanaimo. Friendly service - generous portions - fantastic sauces. Dont change a thing 🤟

What happened to Noodle Box!? Our spicy peanut boxes were terrible. They were terrible last time but we thought they were just having an off-night or something. Our medium heat peanut boxes barely had any heat and tasted incredibly bland. we also paid for extra broccoli since they tend to skimp on it and we literally got no broccoli at all. Im not the kind of person that complains or writes a negative review but when you spend $60 on a meal and its that bad, somethings got to give. I reached out to the restaurant and they pointed me to skip the dishes. i contacted skip and they promptly refunded the portion of our meal that we were unhappy with. They took care of us and the driver was great. This falls solely on Noodle Box. Something has changed with the flavours at this place and its a shame. It was one of my favorite spots but after two negative experiences in a row, I cant justify giving them any more of my business.

They forgot to add the egg I ordered extra on my noodles, they added it later tho, its tasty but nothing out of this world, big portion tho. Big place, feels like theres a lot of room and cute station to pour yourself some water.

Nasty! I wanted some simple chicken chow-mein and my brother wanted some properly made Ginger Beef (thin strips of beef, battered, crispy-fried, and then cooked with veggies in a wok with sweet ginger sauce). Decided to get the pork spring-rolls too. $60 later, the small portion of chow-mein has old, tasting dry chicken chunks and soggy over-cooked noodles, with stinky raw unwashed mung beans. The ginger beef was a handful of big dry overcooked chunks full of gristle, and greasy beef, tho un-battered and dry dumped into overcooked rice, again with raw mungbean and a couple of raw broccoli bits. The spring rolls were filled with cat-food.Pic is after we dished out, ate a bit and dumped our plates in the trash.

Western touch of Asian noodles. The restaurant looks great and I liked how they simplified things for those who are not familiar with Asian food. However, they simplified taste of Asian food as well. They were using too much sauce and food tasted like typical food court meals.

My favourite food ever. I really love try new food and this one added to my list forever :)

The food was terrible, bleh... The service was just ok. The curry was not real curry, after we ate, few of us have stomachaches.

Very salty but tasty. Always need to drink a lot water after eating these foods. Love pathai the best.

Nice decor, staff were friendly, food was both to a high standard (for what you payand a good size. I went back the next night as enjoyed it so much the first night.
