Noodle Canteen - Fast food restaurant in Queenstown, New Zealand
Terrible. The food is so bland, over priced and our food bowls were not even filled to the top. Honestly a waste of our money and tummy space lol. I do not recommend this Noodle Canteen!
Worst experience. The person serving was very rude. He told the restaurant was open till 12am. as we were not hungry we returned at 10pm and he said we are closed. When asked you told 12. He said o meant 12 in the afternoon and gave us a very bad look. No apology nothing. Do not visit the Queenstown noodle canteen
Ordered a satay chicken here just after I came from the airport. Absolutely loved it! Flavour was amazing and chicken was very well done : its probably more of a takeout place as the seating inside isn’t the best however.
Worst food ever !!!Over priced and terrible food!!!!!!The Satay fried rice that I order is just chicken with fry rice and rice was very oily.Sweet and sour fish that ordered, the fish is like mash potato fish.Definitely no 2nd time. And staff wast friendly at all
Poor customer service & food qualityWhen I asked for Hong Kong noodle, Asian fella was laughing, however he advised me chowmin noodle are Hong Kong one & I end up buyingThere is hardly any veggies & few pieces of chk, just a noodle, even I asked him to add extra Veggies
Order arrived leaking and got to my house so quick there was no way it was fresh - guy on the phone was rude and told me I had to pay for another one, don’t go here
The best noodles I have had. Totally delicious.
I enjoyed the Tomyum sea food soup. It was delicious and filling. Not exactly the soft manners of the local culture but I understand his struggle.and appreciate his hard work.
Ordered with Uber Eats. Food was delicious and served hot. Was a bit pricey but worth it. Order honey chicken noodle. Recommend
I got the honey chicken fried rice. They forgot the honey sauce ate a few pieces the chicken tasted rather funky so I stopped. Later on got sick and puked it all up. Would not recommend.
The first Noodle Canteen ive been to in NZ that offers more than its usual menu. We were able to order chicken nuggets and onion rings as sides which were pretty good. Tasty food!
Ordered this through uber eats and it was very soggy and tasteless.
disgusting experience :(( ordered 6 pork buns and 5 of them where given as a sludge of a pork filled water. paired with a frosty middled shao mai - defrosted improperly and just tasted like a mouthful of ice.Aside from our sides, we were given soups and noodles that didn’t include half the ingredients that were listed. the best part of the dish was a bottle of coke
Very overpriced and not very nice, very salty. I had the twice cooked pork. Half the dish was steamed rice! The cooking area also looked rather dirty… should have been a hint.
18 bucks for some 1 buck coin sized sweet and sour pork, stuff all of it and 11 bucks for half a half scoop of chips and some small fish size of a 5 buck note, prices here are more expensive than the other noodle canteens and ive never had such small portions in my life. Total rip off, stay clear of this place!!
Such a let down to the noodle canteen brand. The shop is old, rundown, unappealing, overcrowded with signs and old furniture. It feels very unhygienic and the prices are way more than at other noodle canteens. The meal had very little sauce, meat or anything else for that matter. The container was only 3/4 full too which is not normal for noodle canteen who normally squash the lid on. In a place like Queenstown this type of meal/ shop does not belong… even McDonald’s and KFC are more appealing and presentable than this place. Total rip-off and completely disappointed.
Generous serving but food is on the sweet side.
Really good sweet and sour pork with rice!! Dumplings werent the best
Did not enjoy the takeaway I received. The food was gross, pork tasted old. Fish smelt of ammonia, the dumplings were tasteless. The chips actually weren’t that bad, but the only edible thing in a &60 meal. Really unfortunate.
Flavourless and overpriced, might as well have boiled up noodles at home. Lack of meat Not impressed. Have had much better at other noodle canteens in other ciities. Rip off.
Terrible vegetarian fried rice. Gluggy rice & minimal veges & flavor. Dont go by the photos!
Very hit or miss. They do the easier more common stuff well, fried rice etc, but the food is not great when getting to the less common items. Undercooked wontons, beef in the black pepper beef wasnt really fried, quite soggy. taste wasnt bad tbf, just a bit amateurish. Honey Chicken was good! Nicely battered and fried chicken.Take a few items off the menu if you need to guys. Based on the other reviews you do alot of things well, its the dishes you dont make as often that are letting you down. I would go back, but only for the simpler items on the menu.
Really disappointed here as I have been to many other Noodle Canteens across the South Island, with the one in Oamaru being particularly good. What surprised me the most is the cost of the noodle dishes were high, which is okay if you get what you pay for but I definitely did not.I ordered the Sirloin noodle dish but instead at best received very fatty beef brisket. The staff here I could see were trying but the food really left a lot to be desired. Huge improvements required before I would consider ever coming back here.
Worst food. First of all they gave wrong dish. When we informed them, a guy was like oh its a same food as you order and it just does not match with photos. Then we order fried rice and it had no taste at all. Worst food, bad customer service. Not going back
Literally the most disappointed place I’ve ever been. They do not sell eatable food and the service is so bad. No flavor, bad ingredients, burnt food, no hygiene. We ordered 50$ food and no one took the second bite. So disappointed……DO NOT GO THERE!
Got the sping rolls and they were nasty soft with what looked like mold on the inside and unpleasant to eat, my gf got the sweet and sour pork and got food poisoning the pork looked like overcooked chicken, stay away if u dont want to get sick! The owner was on the phone the whole time and our food took 40 min to get overall never going back.
Do not recommend.Asked for Satay Chicken. HAS NO FLAVOUR. AND my golly its spicy! And literally all noodles. They messed up my partners order too. She got soy noodle with tofu, containing 1 and a half pieces of tofu :( very upset.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. My son has just ordered a Noodle Canteen meal costing $67.63 through Uber Eats. The order was accepted by the restaurant and then after 30 mins cancelled. They have our money and when I called them the gentleman who answered the phone was rude, discourteous and unhelpful. He refused to take any interest in the problem and said its not my problem take it up with your bank. Its establishments like this that deserve to be boycotted and go out of business, beware and order at your own risk.
I have a love/hate relationship with this place:- love the convenience, quick and easy takeaway- hate the plastic bowls - what happened to the cardboard Canteens?- love the food: taste and quantity of meat and vegetables with the noodles/rice- hate the food: you can see the msg/oil and the overall dish is different everything - so sometimes not so tasty- love the choice, seems to be something new each time I go in- hate the choice - I still get the same dish since it was only 20 menu items- hate the price - I know its $1-$2 more than other stores around the country. Nothing to love about the price.
The food ordered were okay, the chef/staff was not. He wasnt welcoming and seems in a hurry to sell. Even if we were the only customer in line. Also, the utensils doesnt look like it had been washed properly. So my tip, just use plastics.
Went to Queenstown for a mini Vacation and went to Noodle Canteen. I ordered Mangolian Chicken with Noodles-no chillies, which was okay. Ordered Nasi Goreng Mild, had no salt or chillies. 3rd dish was chilli chicken-had no chillies whatsoever. Both these dishes looked and tasted like fried rice and hardly had any chicken. They also charged extra $1 for each takeaway containers. The lady mixed our order, then it took them 50mins to prepare our meal, which was ridiculous. Total waste of money. Would never go back
Absolutely a rip off. dumplings were not on the menu, then got charged $10 for only 5 pieces tasteless veggie dumplings as attached photo, pretty sure it was from frozen. They are not doing business in an honest way.
If I could give no stars I would, started with a rude employee serving me who asked what I want and ran it through the eftpos, ever though I was trying to ask for extra broccoli. After asking another 3 times if he had heard my request for extra broccoli, he then finally told me I had to pay for extra, which is fine. After receiving the meal I wish I never bought it in the first place. Ended up costing me $20 for a honey chicken on fried rice. Absolutely no honey whatsoever, no seasonings and 3 measly pieces of broccoli that I paid a lot extra for.Noodle canteen Queenstown is giving a bad name to the noodle canteen franchise - I am a regular at my hometown Wellington noodle canteen - never had a complaint. By the look of the average 3.1 rating of noodle canteen Queenstown, there are many people sharing the same idea. Please whoever the franchisee is check in on your employees more often and please work on quality, because right now it’s appalling.
A cool twist of Chiese and Thai food. From Dimsum to Pad Thai they got a lot of choices. Good for a quick amd easy dinner. Price is reasonable, volume is big and the taste is authentic.
Service was great but food not quite. The honey king prawn just didnt smell right and the kung pao chicken wasnt so great lack flavouring on most food we were served. Ive had better noodle canteen this store was a disappointment.
My the worst asian food ever! I never see Fried dumplings like there and beef bean was something in oil. Everything wrong! Bread with butter from grocery store is really better. My firt and last visit.
I ordered a vegetarian soy noodle dish which is egg noodles with vegetables and tofu. When it arrived there was no tofu. I asked why and I was grunted at no tofu, its all finished. No apology, and not bothered that they hadnt told me. They then went on to serve more people who ordered similar dishes and again didnt say anything. I basically had a massive bowl of poorly flavoured noodles with a very stingy serving of vegetabless (obviously running out of those tooand a fried eggthat I had to negotiate as a replacement.
We had the Tom Yum for our dinner. It was so nice that we finished all the soup as well. One of the best Asian food provider in New Zealand for delicious food with reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit if you need a fulfilling Asian food in Queenstown. Highly recommended!
I always come here in my Lunchbreak. Really good, fresh and quick food. The Staff is very friendly and polite. They always recommend me something different. But everything tastes great. Big Portion for a good price. Its worth it!
When I went to the Noodle Canteen there was good service and a good atmosphere with the music from the tv. I had ordered a Mongolian Beef (number 13), it tasted pretty good. It was pretty cheap as well.
Very poor service and terrible food, the owner was so rude and didn’t care what the customer says, food came up totally different as the picture; dumplings were uncooked when served. Worst food place in Queenstown.
Terrible menu system and one of the rudest staff Ive ever experienced. Treated with contempt for asking simple questions and giving honest, straightforward feedback. Dont be fooled by the photography. Plenty of much better options for Asian cuisine around. Please do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs. Ive never even written a review on here before but the staff have forced my hand.Would have given 0 stars if it were possible. Thought he might have been having a bad day but clearly from other reviews, that is not the case.
From having alot of noodle canteen up north and loving everyone then eatingf this noodle canteen I was very upset at how rank the meat/whole meal smelt, the taste was sub-par and the size of the meal was tiny when your paying more!?! Will not eat there again.
I dont usually go to Noodle Canteen since Ive previously felt that the meals were lackluster but today I thought "Why not? Im in the mood for some Asian food." So after me and my friend had paid around $40 between us for a selection of noodle bowls and sides, I asked for some soy sauce and was given a measly pot which had a very small amount in.Naturally this wasnt enough to pep up the pretty bang average fried rice bowl and so my friend politely asked for some more for herself to which she had the snappy response from the lady behind the counter "Can you not share?" Suffice to say we felt awkward sitting in and eating after that so we decided to leave and eat the food elsewhere. Considering we have just paid a hefty $40 for a takeaway I thought we were well within our right to ask for a trickle more soy sauce - clearly not. After all that, it turns out the meal was quite bland and our dumplings were pretty horrendous and so after having more than one bad experience we will not be returning to Noodle Canteen again! Disheartening is the word that springs to mind.
Good, cheap and fast. The food here does not compromise by westernising Asian recipes. If youre looking for affordable, authentic and generous portions, look no further.
Amazing food, great service , huge servings and super quick. We had a long day on the slopes and this meal was just incredible after boarding all day .. 😋😋🤗Thank you for the great service.
These people are unfriendly and hate customers. The food is cheap for Queenstown, but terrible. If you just want to fill a hole in your stomach and not care about the the taste too much, it would be ok I suppose. What I disliked other than the food was that I dropped my hard earned at a place that doesnt say "hi" to you when you walk in, or say "thank you" when you give them your money.Better places to spend your cash in Queenstown.
Fast and easy affordable meals open all day. Cook upon order but doesnt take long. Dine in or take away. Wide ranging selection of Asian meals with similar ingredients and sauces. Good location close to town. Meal and drink combo is very affordable.
Great food! Poor environment and bad customer service. But like I said, the food was great and prep time was really fast.
I am shocked by the one star ratings. For the category of food that I expect from a street-side 12 seat noddle canteen....... this noddle canteen delivers excellent value. We went there between 9-10 pm after arriving late to town & finding many places kitchens closed. There was a line of people & a full house. The prices are comparable to other Queenstown restaurants..... its a tourist town so everything is a little expensive. The I had combo spicy noodles (63?and my wife had yellow curry chicken. I loved mine. But not very spicy & she was satisfied with hers. Not blown away by the curry but she has really high expectations for chicken curry. The reality is that for a "cheap fast food" noddle place in Queenstown Noddlet Canteen provides solid value within its genre of cuisine.
