Noodle Canteen - Chinese restaurant in Taupo, New Zealand
We goggle this place and have it a try. We ordered 3 dishes for 2 person, which cost $58. The soup taste good, except they use dory fish, which become soft when soak inside the soup for a long time, and make the fish taste soggy. Give it a 3 star. The 古老肉 is average, the batter is a bit thick and you can taste the flavour only at the exterior, the meat inside is not that tasty. Give it a 3-star. The 辣子鸡 taste good, and it will taste even better if they deep fried the chicken, rather than simply stir fried. I give it a 4 star.
Best honey chicken noodles in town !
Very very disappointed in the massively reduced portions and the massively increased price since the last time I got food from here.
Go next door to SeaKraft, same food but 100% better service. The old lady at noodle canteen too often grumpy kept repeating "ah how many" even after I held a single finger to indicate one. So rude she was i had to walk out. But next door i ended up with a cheaper meal, yet same Chinese dish and far better service
Quick to receive my meal. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. It wasnt the best but far from the worst in terms of taste and texture. What got me was the portion size, it was alot bigger that I had expected but this was a blessing as I was starving. Cheers
Yummmyy
Delicious food. Great service
Very nice chicken dry noodles highly recommend to everyone who visit in taupo 10 out of 10
Fast service. Food prepared and cooked where you can see how it was done . Friendly staff. Recommended for people in a hurry to get something to eat.
Great hot tasty food. Best ever for a cold evening.
Delicious and full of flavor and very quick service
If you want fast, friendly and healthy fast food, Noodle Canteen is the place to get it 👍
Good service. Food is cooked faster than I expected. My fav is #3
Wide variety of menu items to choose from. Big servings size
Excellent food, super quick service and lovely and got.
Big and tasty portions. Fast service and nice staff.
Didn’t even got plates, cutlery, even tissues to wipe while dine-in the restaurant.Taste was totally below the line compare to other Noodle Canteen outlets.
Got plastic cutlery and plates even if we ate in (maybe because they didnt even bothered to ask us. Got mad because when it took us some times to describe the dish we wanted as it is not written in English. Wasnt smiling. Food not good btw, sweet and sour pork tastes bad, too sweet and too much sauce. Roasted duck soup tasteless, no flavour in the duck, but small bones instead. one of the first time we dont finish what we order.
I wanted a lighter meal this night so I ordered Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. I ordered this its not an item usually on the menu at Noodle Canteens in other cities. It was pretty much as expected... Rice noodle, veges and a surprising amount of brisket. The tofu was also a surprise although not an unwelcome one.Noodle Canteen usually provides a decent meal wherever you go... That said, Ive sworn off my local branch due to appallingly bad service plus they keep putting fish balls in my won ton noodle soup.
Great place to go to get something nice and quick! Love their chicken nuggets! They cook to order which is awesome
Love this restaurant. Big portions, good taste and reasonable price. I Pepper beef on rice is very good. Recommended
Tasteless Food & poor customer service 👎Never ever will recommend
Food is amazing and comes quick. Good value for money! Ate half and took the rest home for later. Must eat in taupo
Delicious and great value for your money. Ive never eaten in (the seating area is not very inviting to dinebut I definitely recommend this place for takeaway. Meal prep is very quick.
Good value for money, good flavor and big portions. We tried the Beef Brisket Soup, Honey Chicken Noodles and BBQ steam bun. We will come back to try other stuffs, recommend for travelers or backpackers on a budget. The place looks clean and fresh ingredients, staff was friendly.
best take out fried rice in town
Nice friendly staff. Big menu! Dont forget to buy a bag of prawn crackers
My favourite place at the moment. Tried the chicken Pad thai and No. 25 with 12 dumplings and 2 pork buns. Everything was yummy and full of flavour.
Uncooked raw pork dumpling is cool inside, and vegetable is not fresh, but salty. Never recommend.
Very nice staff and good food. The shrimp was fresh and sweet. The rice noodles taste like hometown flavor.
If theres zero STARS , this place deserves it, Malaysian Curry is watered down curry power rubbish! Go any whereelse better! These are not even ex Malaysian or Singaporean but mainland Chinese, so better try traditional Chinese fare is my recommendation!
Thought it was pretty good! They had the normal noodle canteen that you find all over the country but also an extra more authentic menu.Really enjoyed it and thought it was well priced!
Very tasty, good portion size. Good value for money!
The worst Chinese food Ive had in over a decade. Over cooked, soggy oil spring rolls with no sauce available. We did not even finish our meals.
We did a quick check online and found this Chinese restaurant nearby to where we stay.Ordered some rice vermicelli soup with roast duck, pork dumpling, broccoli stir fried with beef and a bbq pork bun.The taste is normal and portion is alright for 2-3pax. The rice vermicelli is quite nice at the first taste but subsequently the Saltiness double up. Probably due to the pickled vegetable added (雪菜), where this dish is a very typical Cantonese noodle. The stir fried broccoli with beef is normal and we thought the beef served would be better as we are in NZ, we were wrong as the meat added too much tenderizer, which made the meat taste artificial. The dumpling looks more like those frozen pack purchase from supermarket. But our kiddo loves the bbq pork bun where she finished up the whole bun (which we unable to take a photo afterwards). The fragrant smell of the steamed bun is quite nice, and the bbq meat is kinda of sweet (typical char siewand the meat is in huge chucks.Staff are friendly and helpful though, probably because we speak Cantonese and mandarin with them. We spent $50 NZD here for all the dishes.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced, we particularly like their Chinese Bbq pork & roasted pork. Didnt have to wait long too, recommended!
Good (if not slightly overwhelmingEast Asian cuisine. The interior decor is highly functional but I would not classify as cozy. I ordered the Singapore noodles, and they were fantastic.
Ordered the vege mee goreng and it was an absolute disaster for Chinese cooking. Tasted like the "chef" just threw in some curry powder, mixed it with some vegetables and noodles and fried it sloppily. Coming from a country that prides itself for quality food, I would categorise this restaurant as serving Chinese junk food.
Didnt expect theres a Chinese restaurant in Taupo. Im not really sure if its genuine Cantonese cuisine as quite a bit Southeast Asian food is also offered here, but thats not something to blame to be fair. The food is good, and the price is reasonable. The downside is there are not many car parks around. Its usually not a problem at all but during holidays, you need a bit luck to find a car park.
amazing food at good price. friendly staff and value for money. my favourite place for feed in taupo.
Do not order the garlic prawns (蒜茸大虾photo in the menu is seriously misleading
Great food when its seasoned well - occasionally seem to forget sauces leaving the noodles a bit bland, but very rarely
Fast, cheap and yum.
Im not one to give reviews but in December 2017 while in Taupo playing at the local pub we had a meal here and was blown away with not only the service and speed in which the meals were service. But the favours were fantastic. 4 to 5 minutes for each dish. I then tried two Noodle Canteen in Tauranga which both fell flat. Again tonight in Taupo and outstanding feed again. Please try this spotThey are great
The food was tasty but they charged us 20 cents for chopsticks, plastic forks however were free.
请不要用这样的水准说是中华料理,不正宗,而且超随便,完全没有诚意。这家餐厅的好评都是骗回来的吗?Bad experience! This is my first time leaving a bad review like this. The restaurant had many good reviews so we decided to go in. We ordered 3 dishes and they all tasted really disappointed! They dont deserve 4 stars restaurant at all. They are very unprofessional, no passion on making food! They are simply just adding this and that to pretend to be Chinese dishes. This is absolutely not the chinese food taste like. Not even close to the pictures they shown on menu! (Perhaps they just want to make money and they think foreigners cant recognise the Chinese food taste like.)Also, I feel concerned about the hygienic problem as well since there are more than one bug in our noodle soup. And the guy cleaning the plates is very rough. All of these things come together just make this restaurant unprofessional or not even normal.
Cheap, fast and lots to choose from. Have Chinese, Malaysian and Thai food options. Decor and cleanliness very basic. Staff and service very quick. The qantities were massive. We had to take half away. We had chilli chicken, pork buns and sambal fried rice. Everything was ok.
Delicious and quick food for a low price! The special fried rice is yummy. Inside is no frills, more of a grab and go kind of place. Came back multiple times while staying in Taupo.
Love the honey chicken noodle. Will admit they had dropped off a little in the flavor and taste, but the last couple of visits have not been an issue, very tasty and flavorsome. Back on the mark again.
Best Noodle canteen Ive ever been. First I was thinking that all of them are good, but its not true. The true is that in Taupo Noodle canteen they do most delicious and most authentic Malaysian/Chinese cuisine I have had in NZ so far. In Taupo is this place where I eat every time Im there.
