Love this place! I always make sure to stop by and check it out when I visit Portland. Order the Khao Man Gai (the larger portion if you are really hungry)and the Chicken, Rice & Peanut Sauce. The food is light, fresh, and always hits the spot when I have been maxing out on rich/heavier foods.

Hits the spot! Homemade like dishes and the Nongs sauce was perfect! Garlicky, vinegary, spicy... on top of the chicken rice! Excellent

This place is always amazing. My fav is #1 with dark meat. Peanut sauce is good too. Their current noodle soup special was also so good.

Nom nom nom at Nongs and my umami spot gets juiced. Every damn time! I usually go for the Pork and Rice, with its sweet and fatty richness, there will be no regrets. A side of KMG sauce loaded up with their fresh chopped chili and garlic, and my belly will be singing songs about Nongs.

We got the large khao man gai and Khao Kha Muu (pork on rice). It was a food cart style and the menu was limited. I read many reviews thinking it will be super flavourful and amazing. But it was underwhelming, at least I asked for dark meat so it wasn’t so dry. The kids plate was chicken breast and came with the spicy sauce. Without the sauce the dish is kind of bland. The Thai tea was delicious though.

My husband and I recently visited Portland and had Nong’s DoorDashed to our hotel. We both got the chicken khao man gai. We thought the food was delicious! It may have been my favorite meal that we had in Portland. The meal is seasoned perfectly. You can tell that they add stock to the rice and the chicken is moist. Everything is seasoned, but the sauce is where it’s at. It is absolutely incredible, so fresh! I like food that is simple in flavor and my husband loves food that has a TON of seasoning. We loved that thy gave us sauce on the side and we could season our own meal the way we like.

This place was an “instant hit” with us. The thai chicken and rice met expectations (we even bought some bottles of their special sauce to-go). The other dishes were also very delicious and can have no problem standing on their own.

Good food, nice choose-your-own outdoor seating. They have a carafe of free tea which was so pleasant to have. Very reasonable prices and the thai tea float was tasty too.

Been to Nongs in the past and dropped by here after returning from a visit to Silver Falls. You order at the front counter and they have plenty of outdoor seating.Cant come here without trying the large chicken rice - which is always good. We also tried the fried chicken skins, pickles, and chicken livers. Pickles and chicken skin were good (wish there were more chicken skins in the orderbut the chicken livers were just ok.

visually I assumed their main dish was an modern appearance and had some hidden flavors .I assumed it could not be as simple as I see plain boiled chicken and plain white ricefew cut cucumbers on the side for garnish it came with a lemongrass based sauce that maybe just my tongue was screaming at the horror of it .not to be cheap but I literally paid $14 for PLAIN sliced boiled chicken and PLAIN white rice.my moms dish was a “pho” bittermelon soup .now we are very cultural diverse people and not picky AT ALL extremely open minded but this was just ….. NOTHINGthe recipes tasted pilgrim savaged and STOLEN and lost on the way here ….I’m not a hater I am actually very proud of whoever got to trick people into paying $14/$17 for a small plate of plain rice and water-seasoned chicken .

Just WOW. Delicious food that is consistent everytime I visit Portland. The original Khao Man Gai is my favorite, we found the chicken skin cold and too chewy for our liking this time. Love the ambience and the plating.

I have to admit that after reading a lot of reviews, I was a little skeptical about our dinner choice. A lot of people mentioned that their dish was bland, but being huge foodie people and loving lots of spice this was amazing. This was one of our favorite meals. Their specialty sauce is to die for and my chicken and rice was amazingly tender, juicy and full of flavor. I also loved the soup that came with mine which had lots of flavor too. This is a simple dish that isn’t heavy but is filling. My husband had the vegan version which was also really tasty! This is definitely worth the stop!

Great food… tried the chicken on rice & the pork on rice. The chicken on rice was ok, the chilli sauce for the chicken made a great taste to it. The rice is slightly flavoured with ginger, not a very strong taste, fragrant & tasty. The soup that came with the rice was a winter melon soup, very tasty too. In my opinion the best dish was the pork in rice, it comes with sliced pork including the skin that melts in your mouth! The sauce on the rice is spot on! It comes with pickled mustard & half a braised egg. Yum-Oh!!!Street parking available, we came off peak time for lunch, people were still coming in, I bet there’s no space during meal time. All in all a yummy experience.if you haven’t been there, go try it. Get the pork on rice, it is seriously underrated.

I’ve heard great things about this place and it has lots of recommendations. The chicken was plentiful and juicy but every thing was bland. The free tea had a lovely flavor. However, I was excited to finally find a place with peanut sauce!I asked for spicy. It was not hot at all. They gave me a tiny side of 2 hot sauces but it didn’t make up for the blandness.I wouldn’t go back but I could see where you would enjoy it if you are one of those people who can’t do spicy.I can’t explain it. Everything, rice, chicken, and broccoli were all cooked perfectly. And the peanut sauce was really good but there was just nothing there. Idk

A little disappointed regarding to the food. The chicken was very dry and the sauce was a little spicy which it wasn’t on the menu. But excellent customer service and cute decorations in store. They have hot tea for free as well. If you do want to try it out, street parking is $2/hr, the parking lots next to the restaurant is $6/hr. Don’t recommend this location.

Stopped in for dinner and it was quite busy so we decided to take the food to go. Our kid loved the Khao man gai (chicken rice— it was tender and flavorful, rounded out with the ginger sauce it was sublime. We got the veggie Khao man gai (tofuwhich was a little underwhelming. Also, we got the Khao kha muu (stewed porkwhich was very flavorful and rich. Personally, I would go back just for the chicken rice — yum!

Got some take out with the fam on a Saturday night. Got the the tofu, hainanese style chicken and the pork knuckle. Loved every dish but especially the pork which reminded me of my moms when I was growing up. Slightly sweet and fragrant, maybe clove. The meat was fall apart tender and the skin was gelatinous ethereal.

Ordered a khao man gai (chicken, rice, KMG sauce with added weekend special stewed chicken liver, hearts, and crispy fried chicken skin; $~13+3+3and their pork dish (~$16).KMG: The chicken was boiled and the rice was cooked in chicken broth, perhaps. By themselves, they were not very good. But no one eats those by themselves. Their signature sauce melded both together, making the chicken and rice sing with the aromatic and tart sauce. Luckily, they also sell the sauce by itself ($12 per bottle!). I definitely recommend picking up a bottle if you think youll eat rice and chicken a lot.Pork dish: apparently they marinate their pork in coca cola and a few other things. Its a really interesting dish. The pork tastes...roasty and just generally different. The flavor doesnt fatigue and each bite gives another wave of flavor. I actually recommend this dish over the KMG for how unique it is.Good portions, good prices, quick service. What more can you ask for? I recommend this place for anyone in the area.

I added Nongs to my list of places to check out while visiting Portland because 1. I saw it on multiple travel sites 2. My sister had tried it a few years back and said it was really good. We popped in on a Saturday at around 3 pm and it was still pretty packed at that time, especially for a non-peak lunch hour. We ordered the original Khao Man Gai (regular sizeto share between me and my husband. It comes wrapped in a paper with size of broth and their dipping sauce. It was pretty good, especially the sauce but was it $13 good? That I dont know. Its also something you need to eat right away because it comes out piping hot. If you eat it later, the steam would probably overcook the chicken.Glad I got the chance to try it but also glad we only got one order.

We think Khao Man Gai was alright, nothing special. Authentic? Thats debatable! Cheap rice, chicken with no skins? Yeah we eat chicken skins except my wife! Well that is my 2 cents on $13 chicken rice.

Cute environment. Ordered the Tofu Peanut at $12 and got wet rice with unseasoned broccoli and completely unseasoned, wet tofu. The peanut sauce was delicious. It was overall a very bizarre experience. The place was also busy. I ate it anyway because I was starving but couldnt finish. I wouldnt come back

I like my pork over rice, it was on sweet side but after I added chili oil to it, that made it better. Portion was ok for the price. Everything was to go, good thing we ate at the picnic table because they forgot chicken sauce for my brother, that would have been disappointing to open a box and no sauce at home. They were busy but sauce is important part is chicken over rice.

It was good but I’ve had better hainanese chicken! They were pretty busy, I think it was reflected in the chicken cooking because mine was overcooked and not as moist and tender as hainanese chicken is supposed to be. It was actually a little dry and tough. I did really like the garlic sauce on the side though, really tasty. Also A+ love the paper packaging. I got the thai tea as well which was a good basic thai tea.FYI they don’t have dine-in right now so it can be hard to get a seat at an outdoor table. I was able to find somewhere to sit a few blocks away.Service was very fast and prompt.

Just like how we have it in Thailand, truly authentic - the way it’s served in wrapped waxed paper, brings back my childhood memories :simple dish done at its best! The way I’d recommend eating it, pour that yummy sauce over your chicken and wet your rice with that tasty soup and have it all in one bite! Legendary spot to have your khao mun gai (Thai chicken rice!).

This is one of my favorites spots for lunch since 2019. I usually come here a bit after the lunch rush hours. They have recently built patios along the side walk to accommodate outdoor dining. I love their delicious food and south asian vibes. I recommend #1 and #5 on their menu. The staffs here are nice and professional. This place never disappoints me.

It was quite yummy. My wife and I got the chicken and the ginger sauce was phenomenal. Portions are decent, but the place gets quite crowded during dinner time. Luckily people tend to eat fast so seats pop up fairly often. Chicken skin sells out quick though so youll need to go early for those. Bloody Mary hit the spot.

03/13/19: 4.5 out of 5 - With my first visit, I was surprised with the lack of seating. However, after several more visits, it wasnt bad at all. The look of the locale is similar to that of a Thai market eatery.Being that Im from Thailand, and I dont really like to eat out for Thai food since I know how to cook much of it myself. That being said, I do enjoy Nongs simplicity of tasteful Thai fare. My experiences seem to get better each time I go back for more.Definitely worth a try once and decide for yourself.Enjoy!
