Non La - Restaurant in Darwin, Australia
Best south East Asian food in darwin. I always get the pad see ew and it never disappoints so delicious and the spring rolls are a must try
Non friendly staff, looked like they didn’t want to be there, got take away didn’t say thank you nor smile. Food was ok, ordered a papaya salad and beef pad see ew, asked for spicy but salad ended up very sweet and pad see ew tasted bland.
The flavours are really great, tastes like home made and you always feel satisfied after eating.Definitely try their three flavoured fish.
Edited: 2022 Review-I left Darwin a year ago and brought my Melbourne friends here. Something is very different. The SpecialPho was very disappointing. It used to be so good. The meat was not rare and tender but very overcooked and the tendon was small and hard. I cannot reccomed this place anymore but the better Pho is now Rubys.2020 Review- Excellent food as always. Special Pho and Chili honey crispy beef definately a favorite. Havent had a bad meal there yet.
We had the pho and the three flavoured fish. Both were excellent as was the service. Definitely a good option that had a range of Thai and Vietnamese food at a good price.
Just is basic pho, good service
Restaurant is rather quaint and a little bit tired but the staff are very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the salt and pepper squid and it was sweet and fresh and prepared just as we had asked with very little pepper. However there must have been a miscommunication with the fish as it was dressed with a chilli sauce which we could not tolerate. However this was soon rectified and replaced with a prawn and vegetable stir fry that we thoroughly enjoyed. Full marks to the chef and staff for going out of their way to please us.
Went here with friends for a meal whilst staying in Darwin. The food was OK, but a bit disappointing - nothing special about it. Service good, located well in the city but need to do better with so much competition in the vicinity.
We had the laksa. Absolutely delicious. Nothing more to say.
Used to be my favourite restaurant... until they decided not to provide sliced chilli or any sort of fresh chilli for the customer anymore. So disappointed, especially when the price tag is $21 for a bowl of pho
such a bad experience tonight. we order from here often and we mostly get the same thing every time. the duck had no flavour what so ever and the salt and pepper squid was absolutely disgusting. they usually make both dishes fairly well but tonight was just dreadful, so much so that I had to return the $28 beer batter like squid. my partner is a chef so we know what were talking about. the salt and pepper squid we usually order looks exactly like the one pictured on their menu, its usually light and crispy made from light flours such as semolina, cornmeal or rice flour which gives it that light batter thats unique to salt n pepper squid. anyway, tonights batter was extremely heavy like it was made from plain flour and water mixed with a heap of black pepper thick and undercooked we were not prepared to pay the ridiculous $28 for fish battered squid! it would of been okay of they just owned their mistake and refunded our money but instead they insisted it was a matter of taste and preference and nothing to do with them insisting that its the same recipe theyve always used. even after showing them how completely different their menu picture is compared to what was in front of us they still insisted on gaslighting us. its like going to a fish and chip shop and them insisting that you have a crumb fish when youre clearly looking at a beer batter fish. we will never be back because of this. own your mistake instead of switching the blame thats all. we graciously kept the rice and duck and only returned the inedible squid.
All the dishes are delicious! What a great place to eat in Darwin!
I have been here a couple of times, and they reminded me why I shouldn’t be there every time. Now I understand the current staffing issues. There might be unavoidable delays in serving food; however, the waiting time was unacceptable. In my two latest visits, I had to wait 1 hour just for a simple order of 2 bowls of bamboo duck noodle soup, then the next time, we waited for 30 minutes for just a pho and a noodle soup. The food was alright but definitely not worth that wait. Will never be back again.
Lovely flavours, beautifully balanced and generous servings
Best PHO in Darwin hands down. My partner and I are constantly returning back here. Anything you have from the menu is exploding with flavour.
Lunch was ok, nothing special compared to other Asian restaurants.
The best Pho I have ever had so far! Very tasty flavoursome stock (liquid GOLD).
Well worth the visit. I give their chicken laksa five stars. The service was excellent too. Thank you.
Had the seafood Laksa. It was good but had better at many places. The seafood seemed a bit plain, and the laksa broth seemed a bit weak.
This is my second visit at Non La.. if you are new/travelling to Darwin City and craving for Phò at night you can come here. The place not busy so you don’t have to wait too long for the foods coming to your table.Frankly, food in Darwin is much more expensive than other city like Sydney & Melbourne, (base from my experiencesand the portions here also less. 😜 what to expect we’re remote!! 🤓Ordered:1 Special Phò $211 Spicy Beef stir-fry $221 Rice $4
Great noodles and great soups. The rest of their food looks beautiful too. Our third visit on trip to Darwin, will be back next time. Pleasant service.Definitely worth trying if your looking for value and flavour.
Yooooo their soups are hecking tasty. At a recommendation by a friend I went for the first time last night and it was super yummy. Nice and fresh. Every soup partaker I brought soup for loved it. :)
Last night my hubby had broken rice with pork chops and egg. I had chicken laksa . I would give 9/10 , so yummy and tasty. The price was very reasonable. It would be complete if a bit more veggies for the Laksa and a small bowl of soup for broken rice. Will definitely come back again. Thank you 🙏 ⭐️👍
Delicious! We ordered takeaway from Non La tonight a Tom Yum and a Curry. The food was piping hot even when we got back to the hotel, freshly made and so flavorsome! Packed with veggies and meat, we would highly recommend. Not to mention the guys running the shop were so friendly even when we called to change our order 🔟
Delicious Pho. We shared several dishes and they were all mouth watering. I wish there was a Non La in Katherine 😍
Came in and nobody shows us the seat. After they have cleared the table, they did not wipe it and table is still wet. After sitting down for 10minutes, nobody gave us menu so I had to ask for it. No table water given after being asked twice. Waited 20minutes just to get table water. Our food was served after an hour of waiting. Even then, the fried prawn noodle is one of the worst that I have ever had. No taste at all with slight hint of oyster sauce. When I told that to the guy front staff, he brought the food back to the kitchen but came back again with the same food and said thats just how they cook it here. And told me to add siracha sauce if its tasteless. So they just cook bland hard noodles here. This is my first time ordering anything apart from their pho. Will not come back anymore unless for the pho. Bad service. So disappointed.
Worse meal I have ever had beef was so dry it tasted like unseasoned jerky. Chicken crispy noodles had no seasoning. When I returned the meals the managersaid that was what they should be. Paid $60 for for a meal fit for the bin. Doni wouldnt eat there again if they paid me.
Came into the store to order some take out....forgot to take a pic of the chicken wings I had for entrée, they were great! As too was the green chicken curry. Service was very friendly and prompt.
Food is not bad, service is terrible. We order 3 dishes and only served two. When we asked where is another one the waiter said you only order two. Me and my friends all heard I ordered the soup as first dish and he was putting it down to his tablet. He didn’t even apologise just denied. So my friend who was birthday had no meal. The prawn stir fried noodle only had 3 prawns.
No reservation, seated immediately even though they were busy. Service was great, food was excellent. Fresh and vibrant flavours, fried rice and honey chilli beef was amazing!
Great restaurant the food was excellent had massaman beef curry the best and had icecream dessert highly recommended to visit this restaurant great service from the staff
This very relaxed first rate no fuss fully fledged quality Darwinian diner. Good menu, good quality tucker, Thai style definitively with reasonably priced vino. Cant go wrong.
Great food. I really enjoyed the Laksa I had there.
Fry kang Kong (veggieis a must try!! Much better than what you can buy from rapid creek market. The taste was beautiful and it’s not chewy or hard at all.
Delicious pho and pork meal tonight. This place leaves our favourite Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide for dead. Excellent service too. One waiter tonight looking after a packed restaurant (Monday night!and he did a brilliant job taking care of everyone efficiently and with a smile.
This was a lovely restaurant. Came here by myself for an early dinner on a Thursday, around 5.30pm. The waitress was lovely as were the kitchen staff. I had tempura prawns for entree and mince chicken chilli basil with rice for my main dish. Both were delicious. I definitely recommend it.
This is not good Thai food.Laska that used egg noodles...??? I got Uber eats and it didn’t state that on the menu, laksa is always rice noodles, especially in Thailand. I’m allergic to egg noodles so had to boil up my own rice noodles and take the egg noodles out, paid $18 for that.Pad See Ew tasted like nothing, I’m not sure what sauce they use but it’s not tasting anything like a pad see ew. Swimming in oil and Needed to literally add salt to make it taste like anything.Tom Yum wasn’t spicy at all.Super weird, none of this tasted like any Thai I’ve had before. Disappointing, small servings for the price also.
The staffs take long time to taking the order and quite long time to cook the meal too. They are not really checking the eating utensils so we need to ask for them for spoons/forks. The food was decent. I ordered wonton soup and thai tea.
Had lunch with my fiancée there, very nice Thai style food. $15 lunch special came with soup , nice and comfortable inside. Staff quick and friendly. Recommended
Tried the laksa as part of the festival. It was very good. Lots of flavour. I asked for easy on the noodles ( some places feel noodles to the topand I got what I asked for
Eventhough its technically a Vietnamese Restaurant, they have Thai options as well and I tried the Beef Pad Thai. It was really good and had a great balance of flavours. Definitely on my Thai food favourites list now!Edit: This place has turned out to be my favourite restaurant in Darwin and the Pad Thai is my ultimate treat-yo-self take away.
Wanted Vietnamese and have tried a few places in Darwin, but due to the good reviews, I thought I would try it, and I am very glad I did. Ordered many things from the menu, Thai fish cakes, Spring Rolls, Eggplant curry, Pho, to name a few and all were excellent. Great portion sizes for the price. Service was fast and friendly. Yes, it might not be the best looking restaurant in the world, but when the food is this good, who cares? Beers were cold and not stupidly priced. Have already recommended to friends and will visit again.
Good food not over priced, good atmosphere quirky settings. Walking distance to CBD hotels. The service was slow and off sequence but this could be be due to eating styles. May be the waiter assumed that we would share, but we ordered individual meals, so I received my meal, ate it and my friends waited and received theirs later. So mention u want the meals at the same time. Food was very tasty. Kangkong slightly salty but not sickening salty. Duck was enough for two and again good flavours and the crying beef did not make anyone cry but the corianda sauce was yum. I wanted to try the crab but at $60 I will pass. A good place to try.
Surprisingly delicious pho here, more towards the Southern Viet pho style but very tasty nevertheless. Don’t be discouraged by the older looking interior, the staff are all Vietnamese so I trust the ingredients used are authentic and they care more about the way the food tastes than the way the place looks! We also their tried their fried & fresh spring rolls, they were both very good. Special kudos to their sauces, it shows they are a truly Vietnamese restaurant!
The wonton soup was very good and was a perfect portion size. The ingredients were fresh and was full of flavour. The laksa was good, however wasnt as flavoursome as I was hoping.I did enjoy my time there and will be back!
Good but not spectacular Thai option in Darwin. Food was fresh but the garlic and pepper chicken lacked bite while the Pak choy stir fry lacked crunch.Restaurant offers some Vietnamese options such as Pho, Pork chops with rice. There are also Thai curries such as red and green but disappointing that no jungle curry was in offer. Surely a must for a hot and tropical city like Darwin.
This is coming close to the best tasting phở in Darwin. I’ll be back for sure. The broth was sensational. 4 stars until the next visit. 👌🏽
I had a very good Chili Beef, my wife was not so happy with her choice, Pad Ser-eew (flat noodles, garlic beef, few cabbage; no photo). Service was very friendly.
Great Vietnamese food, makes the best Pho in Darwin in my opinion. Pretty good value, great for lunch and dinner and takeaway if you want to eat at home. I havent tried much of the menu yet but what I have tried has been delicious. Definitely check it out if youre in the mood for Vietnamese food.
Love love love it.Great service friendly staff.Cant beat the prices dinner for four entrees/ mains/ wines $50 each. Winning. And the lunch special pho is awesome possibly best pho in Darwin.
