Nomad - Scandinavian restaurant in Stockholm, Sweden
Nomad in Stockholm
Description
Privilege
We were in Stockholm for a short business trip and happen to find this place recommended by Google Maps when we were searching for some authentic Swedish cuisines, Nomad did not fail. The location was pretty central and walking distance from the hotel that we were staying. We had a wonderful meal of meatballs and cod fish, and the warm apple pie was so good on a cold night! The place was really cosy and we highly recommend the meatballs and apple pie. We had a great dining experience here.
MoreFood is good, but the service is extremely slow. If you want to waste 1.5 hour of your life, this place is appropriate one
MoreThe Swedish meatballs were absolutely delish!
Honestly some fantastic meatballs and even better service. A must try when you’re in Sweden, but be sure to make a reservation!
MoreIf you expect a sophisticated 10 pages menu filled with complex dishes, skip this placeHowever, if youre looking for a friendly place with a great atmosphere, great no fuss local food, this is the right place for you. The cured salmon was amazing, the staff efficient and friendly, and the place feels like your local joint despite getting busy.
MoreJust amazing !My experience was greatThe staff, the food, the place: everything is right about Nomad. In love with the meatballs.Prices were not too expensive neither.Good vibe in there !Highly recommended 🤩
MoreFood was very nice. Everything cooked to perfection. Staff is also very nice. Short wine selection but only good stuff.Finding a place where my wife and I can both enjoy our meal is quite the challenge since shes vegetarian and Im not but we both really enjoyed our dishes.Definetely a place to go if youre seeking for a nice place to eat with affordable prices. Will come again for sure if I ever come back to Stockholm.
MoreThe service was good. The prices where normal for the location but the taste was really good. We really enjoyed our diner there. One of the best culinary experiences Ive ever had.
MoreFood is good. Location is good. But we waited for almost one hour on our main dish and in the end the portion was tiny… 18€ for a dish and I am still hungry. For people who eat a bit more usually it is not the perfect fit. At least we got 2 wine for free because we waited that long. The problem is: we still don’t know why we waited that long because other people got the food earlier and checked in later.Unorganized ?Self reflection from some employees is not available. But ok. Still: Food is tasty.
MoreMake reservations if you are going for dinner. Great swedish food. Traditional meatballs were excellent.
MoreMeatballs were pretty meaty. I didnt sense any bread crumbs added. The sauce was creamy like oil paint and tasty. Service was attentive.
MoreAmazing place, kind staff and delicious meatballs🖤 Heaven
Small Restaurant with open kitchen and a small backyard. We were looking for some traditional Swedish food and were satisfied.Very delicious meals and fair prices. We were there in the evening when also a Jazz band played. We had a good time and the people were very nice also.We would recommend to go there.
MoreFun friendly service with good food. Had the Swedish meatballs. Yum!! Enjoyed a bottle of wine and the lingenberry drink. Waiter was friendly and helpful on menu items.
Morewas a great experience staying there. Typical swedish food, nice DJ and very kind waiter :))Would definitely come again
MoreVery nice and cosy backyard for dining and chilling during summer. Shrimp salad toast was really super good but also very expensive. Meatballs were good.
MoreThe food and presentation is good but I didn’t like the vegan cabbage dish. It’s too much cabbage to eat in a meal. I wish there were other options for vegans
MoreOther reviews mention they dont serve tap water. This has now changed. They now put a jar of tap water on your table the moment you sit down haha. Anyway, we liked the experience! Service was super friendly and the food was nice and warm and traditional (we tried almost everything on the menu - desserts were delicious too). The restaurant is rather small and cozy - but in a nice way! Great for a casual night out with your lovu
MorePretty much a Bib Gourmand-worthy place, serving excellent Swedish cuisine (and local liquorat reasonable prices. You can tell by the number of reservations and chill vibe that you are in for a treat. The menu differs from day to day, although the staple in the form of meatballs (alas not captured by yours trulyis a must-try. That said, the delicacy in the form of Västerbotten pie was an absolute show-stopper, although the herring in browned butter gave it a run for its money.
MoreMeat balls is great👍the fish is good too as starters👍price is reasonable but if you don’t like loud music, you can sit near the entrance😊oh there are 4 meatballs as I ate it then realised I need to take a picture😊
MoreI am really happy that I was recommended this place! Its small, but has traditional Swedish cuisine and the staff is incredibly nice, definitely recommended if you are visiting Stockholm!
MoreThe food was delicious! I was eating by myself and often, restaurants would make you sit at the bar but I was offered a choice to sit at a table. I had the Vasterbotten pie, which is like a creamy cheese potato pie, with sour cream, roe, and onion. I also had the virgin herring.
MoreGreat local food. Tip call if the website says fully booked, you can be seated at the bar. Try the picked herrings for starters. Hip joint with a cool vibe. Friendly service. Defo worth a look.
MoreIt is worth mentioning that its recommended to book a table in advance as this place get really busy. This is also one of the cons of the restaurant. We had booked a table in advance and after arriving at the restaurant we had to wait awkwardly by the entrance to be seated for around 15 minutes. After being seated we had to wait another 20 minutes or so until someone took our order. The fact that we needed to wait for the drinks or the food didnt matter to us as much since its understandable. On top of that, we were attended by three different people. All this means that the place is either incredibly chaotic or simply understaffed and anyone just does what they can whenever they can: pick up phones, take and bring orders, et cetera. The staff was kind though.Nevertheless, the food was delicious and the drinks were also quite tasty - nothing to complain about in this matter. I also need to mention that the interior of the restaurant is rather small which makes you feel cramped up and doesnt really allow you to relax. It seems like you can also sit outside the restaurant in the back, but we didnt have a chance to get a closer look at that area.To summarize: the food was great but the overall experience was average.
MoreTried this out after seeing the reviews. And the reviews were right. You get wonderful service here and the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants the authentic Scandinavian experience in food
MoreAmazing place and incredible local authentic food. A hidden gem.
5 stars because 6 stars isnt an option😁. Very friendly staff made us feel like home. They managed to find us a table even we did not made a reservation. Choose meatball in the menu. Worth it!
MoreThey have their own IPA which is delicious, the place is super cozy and the staff is SUPER friendly, specially the tallest, left-handed guy.Try to avoid going there without a reservation.
MoreWell its a posh, cozy and beautiful place with authentic Swedish food, they definitely have the best brown sauce served with meatballs.Really nice staff, very kind and helpful.
MoreGreat food and service. I enjoyed the meatballs, and the vasterbotten pie. The house Aquavit was great!Highly recommend it!
MoreTasty local food, great staff and normal price! You even can see how your meetballs are prepared)
MoreWow. Our server Philip was great. They made some great suggestion. For starters we got the herrings 3 way & the pie. Wow. It was packed with so many flavors. And the herring was so tender and very tasty. For our main we got the meatballs dish and the salmon. The meat balls was cooked perfectly with plenty of flavor. The salmon was questionable. The taste was there but the portion size was overwhelming.Overall great experience.
MoreAmazing food & vibe. Tasty herring, interesting variation of Spritz — Swedish Spritz
MoreI live the ambiance here. Their meatballs is a must. Super friendly staff. Too bad I cannot stay for the live music.
MoreI had dinner here with my family and we had a great experience over all!The staff was very gentle and available form the moment we walked in.The thing we appreciated the most was the variety of the dishes and drinks offered, there was for every taste: from the more traditional meatballs with potatoes and lingoberries to more unusual dishes like a nice creamy soup with crispy beacon crumbles or artichokes made in a particular way (of which I dont remember the name at the moment). I also tried their Lingroni Sbagliato, which is a Sbagliato with lingoberries, and was pleasently surprised.Very reccomended!
MoreGreat and really tasty food, I just wish the deserts portions were bigger, even though the caramel pudding is really great its kind of expensive for what we get
MoreI liked the place, atmosphere and people here. But cauliflower steak isnt satisfying food for vegans... make something serious please
MoreAwesome food, their signature dish, Swedish meatballs, is just amazing, the staff is very friendly and chatty too ;p
MoreFood was really good. We had two appetizers: the 3 types of herring and the Jerusalem artichoke, both were very good. As the main course we had the Swedish meat balls with a delicious sauce and potato purée.The staff was friendly and the general location/interior is nice!
MoreAfter a weekend in Stockholm, I was worried it was going to be cramped (not cozyand not live up to the hype but it was great! The service staff was lean but really friendly and helpful. The ambiance was cozy but relaxed and open. The food was delicious and some of the best of those dishes we’ve ever had. It is Swedish tapas style so about 3 dishes per person is perfect. I also had a gin and lemon cocktail with dill that was delicious! We took our kids and although not “kid-friendly”, they were welcoming to the kids and cracking jokes and the kids loved the food and the lingonberry lemonade.
MoreMy family and I wanted to try out some Swedish cuisine and found this place. Very glad we did! Its really cute inside. The food is sort of tapas-style so you can order a few dishes and try a little of everything. The waiter was also helpful in explaining the concept and portions. Everything was delicious but I especially liked the herring tasting.
MoreGood place. Cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and hard working staff. The menu is nice and the drinks and cocktails are great. However the portions are not so big so you’ll need to order a 3 course dinner if you were really hungry. Our food was a bit cold but overall we enjoyed the experience!
MoreVery cozy place with delicious Swedish food, especially meet balls and herring are great. Menu is not so diverse, but sufficient. Prices are not so high as in other restaurants. But its strongly recommended to reserve in advance, we had waited for 1h30m for free table!
MoreNice and snug restaurant and bar. Friendly service and good food at okay prices for Stockholm. Had the meatballs which were delicious and parsnip soup.
MoreI went to Nomad, Swedish restaurant and bar. They only had 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts, 2 for staff total (no door or bar staffand 1 chef. 40 seats. Easily double sitting on a Monday night. Very calm service. Great vibe. Tried to go last Friday but it was pumping with a DJ and too busy! Went back until they could say me and got the Swedish meatballs. Talk about delicious and efficient. Everything a profitable restaurant dreams of being. Hats off 🍴🎩👏🏽🙌
MoreVery nice restaurant with vibrant atmosphere. Foods and beverages are great. Interestingly, I could see the chefs cooking dishes. Please note that it is very crowded every evening. Queuing is a must. So, be patient!
MoreLocated in the city backpackers building. Fantastic food. Reasonable prices for Stockholm. Their SOS is the best we have ever had - and we ordered 2nd servings. Good service too. It got busy by the time we left at 6pm - clearly a well known spot.
MoreOne of the best local food you can find in Stockholm. Loved the red herring starter, salmon and the meatballs. Good selection of beers and cocktails. If you get lucky there will be live band playing. Will definitely come back and highly recommended!
MoreDelicious swedish food with a twist. Every dish i tried had something unexpected. The foie gras was exceptional! The atmosphere was very relaxed and the service very friendly. There is one chef that cooks on the spot so totally worth the wait.
MoreNice little restaurant hidden between buildings, serving fresh food of the Swedish style. Menu changes weekly but there will probably be something to do with herring, salmon or meatballs!
