Nomad - Moroccan restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
Nomad in Marrakech
Description
Privilege
An absolute pain in the butt to locate deep in the medina, but once inside it was an oasis of calm and tranquillity.Staff were very attentive, the service was great, lovely décor, and the food excellent.Seated on the terrace, enjoyed views of the medina as I tucked into a sardine tart and then a sea bass, both very tasty. Fresh juices were very good too.Lunch service was quite busy, luckily made a reservation in advance.
MoreSeen the place on netflix on one of the episodes of somebody feed Phil. After coming I just wondered how Phil liked this place.Service was poor. Only Bahia was friendly and helpful while booking.Food wqs just ok. Nothing special at all. Some of them were even tasteless.Mezze plate was totally tasteless only green olives were good.We have ordered cabbage and goat cheese fried starter. Goat cheese was very strong. Server was kind enough to. Hamge with lentil salad which was nice.As main we had chicken tajine and lamp couscous. Chicken tajine was tasty however lamb on couccous was too dry and tasteless. We had ordered our food way before other 2 tables next to us however we have been served after they finished their meal. Will not come again.
MoreLovely place in Marrakesh! The style is quite fancy, the food was very good... We tried the vegetarian couscous and the lentil salad. Everything fresh and delicious. The attention was really good, they made a little mistake with our order and were very thoughtful handling it, even invited us for the dessert. We really appreciated it!
MoreA great experience in Marrakech. Tasty Moroccan food with a modern twist. Can’t beat the rooftop location either!
MoreWe ate on the top floor terrace of Nomad so that we could enjoy the sunset. My recommendation is to book your table reservation one hour before sunset so that you can enjoy some drinks and eat your meal with magnificent views. You can find the table reservation form on their website - make sure you select OUTDOOR when booking. Make sure you reserve a table because the restaurant is popular and gets very busy. We stayed for about 3 hours and left when the evening wind started blowing after sunset. The food & service was top quality. They do not serve alcohol, but serve a fine selection of juices, Moroccan teas & they do offer alcohol-free beer.
MoreTucked away down an alleyway within the maze of the spice square you will find this gem. We did not have a reservation but were treated like we did and taken to a gorgeous table located on the rooftop (make a reservation if you want the full 360 degree rooftop). We ordered the Mezze Plate of the Season with olives and homemade yoghurt bread plus the Vegetarian Plate which included chickpea salad, tzatziki, zucchini courgette & preserved lemon, Moroccan quinoa with lentils. We also ordered the Fish of the Day with seasonal organic market vegetables. All the dishes were bursting with flavour and delicately cooked to perfection. We were lucky enough to have arrived prior to sunset (recommendedand the views were nothing short of spectacular (even got a sneak peek from the top level). The staff were lovely and very attentive and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We left with full bellies and an experience that was truly unforgettable. I have no doubt that we will return next time we are in Marrakech!
MoreA really great place to eat in Marrakech. So good we went back again. Great views from the terrace accompany really tasty food with excellent service. Not cheap by Marrakech standards (800 to 950 Dhs/£65 to £75 for two for three coursesbut then this isnt straightforward Moroccan food. Cleverly innovative flavour combinations abound. Go on, you know you want to.
MoreThis was a good place to unwind from the chaos down below. The prices were not bad for being one of the better restaurants of the city, and the type of place it was.The food and drinks were ok at this price point, but again this is a nice refuge from the chaos. For the price, you can certainly do better in the actual market, but I would come back here again. Service was not great, but I’ve had worse.
MoreSuch kind management and fantastic service - our mains took a very very long time to come out (all the other tables around us that ordered after us got their food and finished before ours came out), food was really tasty though and well presented! We mentioned the delay to the staff when we went to pay and the manager came to speak to us, he was so apologetic, genuinely sorry and explained there is sometimes a connection issue, he removed the cost of both mains and service from our bill which was really unexpected and generous - you dont get this kind of great service in many places! Thank you for the food and for being so kind and understanding. We will return to get onto the rooftop for a drink next!
MoreIt was wonderful experience. Service awesome, super kind, thoughtful always smiling. Food is delicious. The atmosphere is magical. Thank you so much. We had really lovely dinner!
MoreThis restaurant’s manager really knows how to provide great service. As much as it pains me to write this: I would begrudgingly recommend this place to anyone trying to take a break away from the craziness that is Marrakech. He turned-around what would have been a very disappointing dining experience due to poor communication from some of his staff into a pleasant, dare I say, even enjoyable experience and a good way to cap off a long trip in Morocco. Nomad serves up a refreshingly modern yet distinctly Moroccan perspective. The calamari was a highlight.Reservations STRONGLY recommended to be seated on the rooftop.
MoreWe booked this for a special occasion and requested a nice table which sadly couldn’t be further from what we received. The service was from a bunch of disinterested staff and the food was mediocre and as such overpriced. When we paid there was no eye contact or interest, and just thrust us the credit card bill. They rely on technology and have lost touch with customers. Don’t believe the marketing, there are FAR better options in wonderful Marrakech. Very sad, really don’t bother with this one.
MoreGreat rooftop in the city center to have lunch. Make sure you go all the way up (4 floors)! Great view, breeze, and the food was fantastic.Lamb Couscous is quite filling, highly recommend.
MoreLovely terrace and refreshing juice. Seems slightly overpriced in comparison to other options near by.Recommended for a quick stop by.
MorePretty flawless really.I dont think the current rating is a fair reflection of the calibre of this place. The service was thoroughly wonderful, attentive, appropriate, casual but tasteful. The presentation of the food was delightful and the flavours matched it.Best olives I have ever eaten.Sure, this is a tourist hotspot.. that was expected and it lives up exactly to that to be honest.. banging out quality but it didnt feel like it had so much soul to it.I wont go again but it was great nonetheless.
MoreOne of my best gastronomic experiences in Marrakech! This restaurant will exceed your expectations and you Will definitly not vê disapointed. I recomend the lamb as mais course and the orange cake with vanilla ice cream as dessert. The rooftop is a very pleasant place to have dinner as you watch the citys colours change with the sunset. A must go on Marrakech.
MoreGorgeous design. Friendly service from the start. Lovely views from the terrace and the most amazing food. Lentil & goats cheese salad, sardine tart and flourless orange cake where divine. A real GEM. Highly recommend. LOVED THIS PLACE!
MoreReally nice location & layout. Awesome service and good menu. Appetizers were good. The restaurant received really positive reviews from other sources, hence we prioritized this venue. But the taste of some of the entrees and in particular the meat dishes didn’t match our expectations (but could for some).
MoreFood nothing special.Basic decor.A forced polite service and very distant.Three adults on the terrace, sitting at a ridiculously small table! Instead of putting three people at two tables... And it was reserved the day before! For those are looking for a terrace with a sprinkler/misting system, this is not an option. The Terrace does NOT have a sprinkler system. In July it is impossible to eat here. Even at dinner! Negative points for an expensive restaurant!A pity!
MoreHas a nice view over the city. The food is good but not that good. The natural juices are very nice and fresh
MoreInterior of the restaurant is aesthetic! They had great seating options and the facilities were maintained to a good and clean standard with breathtaking views from the rooftop. Staff were hospitable and polite. The menu offered a wide array of food choices with a decent amount of serving size.Location was a bit tricky to navigate but besides that, it was great.
MoreThis place is all about the location, giving you a beautiful rooftop to enjoy the evening. Unfortunately it just doesnt have the food quality to match, the lamb rack was perfectly fine but nothing memorable, my wifes veg platter on the other hand was a firm 1/10, it tasted like basic prepacked supermarket platters with a generic vinaigrette flavour that didnt demonstrate any freshness, which was in stark contrast to everywhere else we ate in Morocco. The staff did remove the veg platter from the bill however, without asking upon hearing our feedback. A place for drinks in the evening but not food in my opinion as we just left disappointed on our last night in Marrakech, what a shame.
MoreWe went there without booking for dinner but were lucky to get a roof top table. The food was so good especially green salad! It become my favorite. It’s fulled with various vegetables which is not easily found in other restaurants in morocco, also argan oil dressing made the salad authentic. You must try this!Squid dish and cauliflower dish(vegerarianwas also good. I want to try other dishes as well.
Moremake sure to make a reservation for the terrace, the view is amazing. We had vegetarian options from the menu and were not quite satisfied with the price/quality but the saffron date cake was absolutely amazing.
MoreExcellent food and nice views of the shopping square below. Photos don’t do the rooftop justice!
MoreBest rooftop in Marrakech. We’ve been many times to Marrakech, last one was a few weeks ago and I found a bit disappointing that most of the vegan options are gone compared to the other times we visited before covid. We could only had a soup and a normal salad that found overpriced and a coliflower dish that needed more spices. We would appreciate if more vegan options can be add to the menu like used to before.Everything else was perfect, the other food looked delicious. Make sure to make a reservation!
MoreMe & my family ate her for an early dinner around 6:30 pm. It was busy as people were coming in and out so make sure to book a table in advance. Ambience was 9/10. It was a hot day and they had mist coming out of the sides which was a nice touch. We stayed in the 2nd floor and not the rooftop so didnt get to see that but many people were going up so I assume it’s nice up there.Staff + Service was 8/10. The waiters were nice and helpful as we asked them some places where we can buy alcoholic drinks but the girl you speak to about your booking when you come in was not friendly at all. She wasnt rude, probably just busy but no hello or bye or thank you whatsoever when we paid our bill. Literally just took the money.Food: 7.5/10I found this place here via google reviews as well but for me it was okay, not the best for me. Two of us had the chicken, one had the calamari and one had the lamb burger. We also had desserts which were 2 scoops ice cream and an espresso ice cream. It was also just okay. But price wise, I think we paid 905 dirham for 4 people with 4 main meals and 3 deserts. So overall I’d say 7/10. This is as opposed to what I expected from the place. 😊
MoreIf you’re not in the mood of streetfood along the hectic square, then Nomad could be a great alternative. Nomad serves fusion Moroccan/Italian/Spanish food with a chill and relaxing ambience —and the restaurant are often busy, especially the rooftop. Service was surprisingly fast, and the staff speak very good English.
MoreRoof top dining. Creative menu with classic Moroccan flavors.
Nice rooftop experience. Nice view. Fast and efficient service. Good quality food. European prices.
MoreNice restaurant but we didn’t really enjoyed the foodThe hamburger tasted nothing and my tagine had a flavor I definitely didn’t appreciate
MoreExcellent combination of French and Moroccan cuisine, they did a great job here. Our table has the greatest view on patio as well. Love the cold soup and zucchini pancakes. Lamb chop is amazing too, their cherry tomato is the sweetest and most flavorful I’ve ever had. Lamb burger and chicken tajine are ok. Desserts are so so.
MoreMy favorite dinner in Marrakech so far! I had the grilled marinated lamb chops and they were delicious! Meat was tender and well cooked. It was paired with potatoes and cherry tomatoes that had great flavor. The rooftop is also beautiful, and great at sunset. Highly recommend!! Gets crowded in the evenings though, so a reservation is probably best.
MoreIt’s too bland for Moroccan food to be honest. I’ve had better and more flavoured tajine in Moroccan households. Nice rooftop though
MoreAmazing food, we went back here because we enjoyed it so much!
What a fantastic place! It tends to get very busy so if you don’t reserve a table, be there by 12-12.30 (opening timefor lunch.Beautiful view, friendly staff and the food is great! Moroccan cuisine with a twist. We had:Meze platter that consist in olives, pumpkin, beetroot (and gingerand hummus with roasted peppers 10/10Shaved cauliflower salad with almonds and strawberry 10/10 (the most interesting salad I’ve ever had!)Veggie plate 7/10Fresh juices 10/10 (we tried beetroot and avocado 🥑)Beautiful viewDefinitely a must do when you are in Marrakesh!
MorePoor service for a male solo traveller. Was seated next to two ladies who arrived about 15 minutes after me. We received menu’s at the same time, they received bread and drinks (I never received any bread). Service doted on the ladies and pretty much ignored me. Overall was a real disappointment.Lamb chops presented nicely but lacked meat and for the price was very disappointing. Finally I asked the doorman for directions as I left and he told me it was too difficult to explain and shoo’ed me away.Left feeling really disappointed.
MoreFun vibes and beautiful terraces with healthy modern Moroccan fare. Order one of their delicious juices and mezze to share on the second terrace during sunset hours. They also serve a sugar free juice made of lemon, cucumber and mint.
MoreA very busy but well run restaurant. The roof terraces offer good views over the busy square and surrounding city. A delightful place to be when the sun sets and especially when the call to prayer echoes across from all the minarets. Food is fresh, very tasty, the orange cake is gluten free. Delicious fruit juices.
MoreI’ve had the pleasure of dining here a handful of times. I can tell you that I’ve tried everything on the menu (as of 2019and that each dish was outstanding. I ordered everything on the menu my last trip there. It was the most memorable meal of my life. The vibes are immaculate whether you’re dining indoors or out. There’s something I won’t ever forget about eating fruit salad while watching the sunset over the medina. I still dream about it and hope to return as soon as possible. 💝
MoreOverpriced and underwhelming. We were very happy to get to this place as it was raining and they had indoor seating. Once this novelty wore off we felt quite stressed as the staff were buzzing around frantically and that level of urgency translated into inconsistent service. Some staff were friendly others seemed to want us to just get on with it and leave. My husband enjoyed his meal, mine was less flavoursome than I expected ( the chicken and pear dishsome of it was quite bitter and this was actually the least enjoyable meal Ive had in Marrakech so far. I think we may have heard of this restaurant on a blog. Maybe that same blog attracted a very similar crowd as it was mainly customers from the UK. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, but when going to a restaurant its interesting to see whether that place is also attracting locals and to question if not why? When we went to pay the person serving told us our card wasnt working. This happened to others as well and they were asked to pay cash. We asked to try our card again and it went through straight away. The person serving seemed frustrated at that and this seemed suspicious. Lastly this place felt as though I could be anywhere in Europe rather than a specific gen in Marrakech. I would strongly recommend wandering into some more "local" restaurants if youre looking for better food, and a relaxed atmosphere. The only reason I didnt out less stars is because the place wasnt unclean and no one was outright rude.
MoreWent for lunch on a Monday and got seated without a reservation. The decor was nice and a great view from the terrace. We had the mixed mezze platter which was tasty. The zucchini fritters and cauliflower salad were both extremely bland. Service was not particularly attentive. Was not asked how the meal was and the person at the cash desk was talking to someone else whilst we were trying to pay our bill.Overall, you pay for the view, not for great food.
MoreWe stayed for 6 days in Marrakesh and wanted to try different food in different restaurants, but Nomad was the only restaurant where we came back to eat for the second time. So good!! Loved their snack: pie with sardines!!😍 and tajine with a pear is amazing as well. Loved the rooftop and to eat inside as well when it was raining outside.
MoreWe dined on the rooftop. The staff was very attentive and everything worked fine. Food is ok but really nothing super special. Kitchen did prepare food well and portions also looked nice. When we were leaving and got our bill it had items we didnt order. This seemed a bit fishy to me and I am only giving 3 stars.
MoreThe place is just as nice as 7 years ago, the staff very friendly and professional, reduced stylish modern Moroccan design, wonderful food, great view, relaxing atmosphere. Still one of my Marrakech favorites.
MoreLooks like very popular place among tourist, unfortunately dont serve alcohol. However, sunset view is great from their terrace. We went to have a snack, plan was to take some beer but as they didnt serve the visit for us was quite short. But from the snack quality it looked that their kitchen has really good quality.
MoreGreat location and nice vibe/style but disappointing food. This place has a great roof terrace with patio heaters. Service was good. I had the Nomad lamb burger and chocolate desert which came with ginger chocolate ice cream. The burger lacked flavour and was very bland. The potatoes were good but I needed more. The desert looked great but was dry and lacked a depth of flavour, however the chocolate ginger ice cream was excellent. For the price we paid we both felt let down.
MoreNice rooftop restaurant in the centre of Marrakech, close to Place des Epices. The serve a mix of Morrocain food with contemporary flavours. Everything is fresh and homemade. There are also vegetarian options available. The view on the rooftop terrace is lovely, both for lunch and diner. On one side you can see the lively square, on the other side the Atlas mountains.
MoreA pearl in the middle of the souk! Nice food, very good prices and nice views for Sunsets. Some vegan options, but few. Vegetarian OK.
MoreGreat dinner, we ordered lamb shank and calamari and cleaned out the plates. Definitely more of a tourist place but offers a nice change of palette if youre sick of tajine. Bread was cold and ventilation didnt feel that great hence the four stars.
