Nix's - Swiss restaurant in Luzern, Switzerland
Nix's in Luzern
Description
Privilege
Stumbled upon this restaurant for lunch while deciding on what to eat in the area - and was served with 2 paper menu for the salad or French pizza (Flammekueche they called it).🍕 We ordered it with Chicken, Mushrooms and Tomatoes - and it came out really good! The base which was largely sour cream and onion were very well balanced with our additional toppings, which came out really nicely, luckily.🍷 asked for white wine but was unfortunately given a red, and definitely felt like we were shortchanged based on the quantity we were given compared against other diners who has already taken sips off their glasses..🫖 the tea that I chose was a symphonie of fruits, which was way too sweet for the smell, which then translated into the taste and was quite a horrific drink…Unfortunately it wasn’t the best of experience for us, having came after 2pm where the kitchen is partially closed and only serves 2 dishes and drinks..
MoreFriendly staff and good food
Terribly unfriendly. We waited more than 30 minutes for 4 tart flambé … this place charges for onions extra on the tart flambé
MoreGood food!
Slow and incompetent service and slow food delivery (had to wait 30 mins for a basic Flammkuchen). Lunch menu also offered very limited choice for a Saturday afternoon.
MoreGood place, decent coffee, good staff
Very nice and kind service. Some staff speak German, English and French. Beautiful setting. Service a bit slow.
MoreAfter waiting for some time to be helped, we order food. But given that we did not order drinks, we were not allowed to drink water from our own water bottles, with the manager literally asking us "to put them away". We disagreed with his ask, so we immediately and respectfully let him know that we would be leaving, to which he just replied "Perfect!". However, as we were leaving the premises, the manager came back at us and started giving us an unsolicited lecture saying that if he allowed us not to order anything to drink, "he would then have to admit people bringing their own pic-nic into his place". We decided not to engage and as someone else started speaking in German to him, we left for another place, never to come back. If you venture here, be ready to order a lot. One star for the nice place next to the river.
MoreWe had a wonderful lunch by the river.
Bad Service, you wait forever and have to even ask for fork & knife
Great service, great flammkuchen, had a great evening here!
Great food and very nice staff! Such an enjoyable experience
Fine cuisine and very cosy atmosphere. The Fish was excellent and staff were friendly.
MoreWe went here twice during our stay. The food is amazing, and the staff very accommodating - one of us had allergies and they custom-made food for him.
MoreService was great and so was the food. We only had appetizers and drinks since they didn’t have an English menu and the menu they did have was written on a board making it more difficult to use a translation app.
MoreMy wife and I are visiting from Texas. We happened into Nixs. We are SO glad we did! The staff was friendly and accommodating, their English was very good and appreciated. The food was excellent! The gift plate from the chef, green salad, entrées, and dessert were all fantastic! If you get the chance, you will want to try this place. Bravo! Wish we could eat here regularly. My wife particularly liked the ambiance, especially all the candles. She raved that her vegetarian entrée was the best vegetarian meal she has ever had. That is saying something for someone who spent almost a decade in a vegetarian community in California.Thank you Nixs for a wonderful evening!
MoreThis marvel of food for thought is right in the learning town next to the lake lucern. The restraunt has a basic philosophy of slow food , which means their menu is tailor made as per seasonal local production of materials.from vegetables to meat from herbs like saffron all is locally grown and used.hence you will never find a consistent menu.We ordered pizza with cheese onion and garlic a divine crunch the cheese would melt in your mouth and you will be left with garlic hangover.Next we ordered vegetable kind a pie which was served with sauce, made in a puff pastry. Amazing taste a crunch and a soft bite at the end.We also ordered fresh local fish with mashed potatoes. The fish was tender juice and amazing in taste.Last was the desert which was locally made ice-cream from the farm and then poppyseed desert with plums. You have to notice how the plums really enhance the taste. We were introduced to a local drink its was amazing in essence .The staff is efficient and makes the best effort.we met the owner of the restraunt who was so curtious to explain the ideology and thought process that goes in making of the dishes. Please visit and enjoy the food and the view.
MoreGreat food, good service, great location
Excellent food, very friendly staff, great location - strongly recommended. Thumbs up big time!
MoreThe food was delicious, great location with a gorgeous view. Beautiful place, very friendly staff. Dog friendly.
MoreVery good food and friendly welcoming service, only 4 stars because the portion was a bit small, otherwise perfect!
MoreThe service was very friendly but the food was mediocre for the price.
Great food. Great beer. Excellent place to enjoy a warm evening out on a terrace next to the river.
MoreBest restaurant in the city. Mostly local and seasonal food which tastes excellent.
MoreRomantic atmosphere, nice dining, prices a bit above the average, but worth it
Had a wonderfull dish , nice wine, friendly service ...Would certainly recommend.
MoreWe were here for lunch. Delicious and fresh food. Service was great. We almost skipped on this place because Google showed that it opens only at 5pm. Do try the violet fizz.
MoreReally good and fresh food. They need their time to prepare the food, but it is worth to wait. The location is great and the service super nice. Everyone smiles and this is something that makes you feel comfortable. We did eat both fish and meat and we found them awesome. The dessert are good as well (I advice the waffles). The cheese cake we ate was really delicious and home made. I want to come back now!
MoreExcellent lunch, great location and good service.
Really liked it!
Amazing service, great location by the “Luzern wave”, and probably the most delicious flammenkuche I ever tried.Super nice of you to spontaneously offer some water to our dogs, and to propose to wrap up the food leftover for us.20 CHF for each of these gigantic flammenkuchen is truly a bargain in one of the most touristic part of Switzerland. We love Luzern and we will definitely be back to this very same restaurant next time. Thanks so much for an amazing evening !
MoreWhen I previously had dinner at this restaurant I enjoyed it quite a lot. The food and the service were quite good. However I cannot ignore what happened today as I was trying to find a table to eat Flammkuchen.Half of the tables on the terrace were empty or reserved as well as the inside of the restaurant was empty, but the waiter still refused me because of "bad weather and too many reservations".I was hoping that, given the current Corona crisis, this kind of rude and stupid behavior will no longer happen...Its a pity because the food was really good, but the service ruined absolutely everything.
MoreGreat service, good food, very nice terrace.
Well, people are nice and helpful, and they are not responsible for the water noise nor the smell comings from the sewers, but the most expensive plate came with a very hard meat (king of old cow despite "rare" cookedand vegetable hardly steamed, I love asparagus and carrots when they are just cooked, but when its raw its raw. 3 stars because its a pity to spend so much (even in Switzerlandfor such a dish. Wines were perfect and service average.
MoreWonderful place with exceptional food! High end. Must try for everyone.
Very delicious good, great vibes, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff! Highly recommend. We had the daily special roast mushroom soup, roast beef appetizer, slow cook beef cheek, and trout - all good!
MoreOkish food. Staff not very friendly.
The only bad thing, understendably not on complete control of an open air restaurant: the wasps. But the waiter was very friendly and immediately exchanged the contaminated drink free of charge.
MoreA great choice of regional (fish from the local fishermanand seasonal food and a great location with lots of atmosphere right next to the river Reuss. Highly recommended if you want something out of the ordinary. Very friendly and helpful staff. And: a fine selection of wines. Always worth a visit ☺☺☺
MoreMeat in Switzerland is fantastic, but their veal was really excellent. Great setting on the canal and wonderful pizza, pasta and meat options for dinner. So glad we landed here.
MoreAmazing restaurant located minutes from central train station. Excellent staff and service and the gluten free food menu checks all of the boxes!!
MoreExcellent soup, pizza, bratwurst and friendly service. And the beer was good too.
MoreBest restaurant in town! Food was amazing and Super creative! The staff were also really friendly and all in all just had a great time 😊👍
MoreFor their lunch menu, it changes daily. Had the roulade with vegetables and kaiserschmarren. Both were delicious
MoreGreat place, amazing food and fantastic service. Thanks! Will visit again.
Very good, well presented food. Staff are very helpful if you cant speak German.
Excellent service. The waitress was patient and very nice. A good selection of beer and the menu had a good range but not numbers. You can have seafood, deer, chicken, beef, veg etc. Dont be put off by the prices as these are cheap for Swiss standards that too in a very well located restaurant with a view of the bridge sitting beside the Reuss river!
MoreAmazing. There are no other words. From start to finish. Everything is from scratch.
MoreDelicious food cooked really well. Very innovative. Good service.
Great food & great scenery! Needed to wait a little for the service but the male manager delivered excellent service!
