Ninja Japanese Steakhouse in Cedar City
Description
Privilege
We were seated in the back corner and no one acknowledged us for almost 30 minutes. Someone finally came up and asked us if we had a server & as we said no, she walked away and shook her head. We took our menus up to the front and left.. bummer. We were excited to try it out!
MoreSome of the worst sushi Ive ever had. Rice was hard the 2 pieces of fish I had were soured and almost made me puke. Noodles my son had were way to sweet and just not Japanese style yakisoba and barley even palatable..
MoreI don’t know about the American standards, but for the European standards this was terrible. Extreme low quality fish, the sushi rolls were covered in sauce, disgusting. Udons were tasteless. Don’t come here if you don’t want to waste your money.Terrible service, they don’t even clean the tables and water was dropping from the AC on our table.
MoreYESSSSS!!! The Sushi is great here! My favorite sushi is the Vegas Roll. Love it. Love the other food to. 100% recommend this if people love Japanese food!
MoreSo we wanted to try this place because we love sushi and why not, right? But our server had no charisma or personality at all, despite that, the rolls were okay not something that we would remember or want to go back for, we were disappointed that they dont have ahí poke 😕, last thing was, we order one more roll and took forever!!!!! Well we ended up canceling it... so we are not thrilled about this place at all...Sorry
MoreAwful customer service. The little girl would not let me speak to an adult I could tell she was young and super inexperienced not to mention super rude. I’ll never go back.
MoreOut of towner here, following the great smells of a evening bite to eat. Friendly staff, but was informed that they stopped taking tables at 830pm, though their posted hours on Google along with the hours on their door CLEARLY state 9pm. Apparently, walking in at 831pm wont land you the opportunity of dining service.Surprisingly these companies struggled during covid, now they arent even serving food during their posted hours of service.Based on this very poor management style, I would not recommend this place.
MoreFood was decent but when I called and order off their menu that I pulled up online the prices were higher than what was shown. This has happened to me twice now. Once I got a menu when I ate there in person to take home, then I ordered food two weeks later on half priced sushi that was suppose to be $5.99 then ended up paying $7.99 which was not half priced. Now I order some that was suppose to total $25 and ended up being over $30. Girl at the front had no idea anything on it
MoreThey have the best sushi within a 50 miles radius of Cedar City! And they do a sushi happy hour Sunday through Thursday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm! And their lunchbox specials are super delicious!
MoreThis is only for the hibachi as no one ordered sushi. The portions were very small. I got the combo of filet mignon and shrimp. You get your choice of rice or noodles, ginger soup, side salad, and grilled veggies like any other hibachi place. However, after eating all the food we were still hungry because we got about 4 pieces of shrimp and a filet mignon was the size of a small child’s fist. Sauces were offered after all our food was cooked and mostly eaten. One person in our party ordered the veggie combo but it’s the same dish that everyone gets as a side. I would think the veggie option would at least include more different types of veggies because then it just feels like a double charged side order. A pretty disappointing experience.
MoreGreat food and amazing service! Looked like they were short staffed, but it didn’t hurt our experience.
MoreSo for my girlfriends birthday, I made a reservation a week in advance for the hibachi and I also specified that my girlfriend has never tried sushi and if they could bring sushi to The hibachi and they said yes. So the birthday comes and I get there and they say that I have to share with someone else which is fine I get it until I get in and see that absolutely no other hibachis are being used. Thats whatever, then as theyre bringing us appetizers and whatnot the waitress never cleans off the table so when the hibachi guy comes and start serving us we have to try to eat over our mess. They bring out a sushi platter and I naturally think its for my girls birthday but it was the other group of people that ordered it and Im already eating it and sharing it with my family even though the waitress gave it to me. They charged me $40 for that sushi plate that I didnt order. My hot Japanese tea was cold and my onion soup was lukewarm. I brought my girlfriend here because my past experiences with this place was very good this was very bad. The only thing I can say was the hibachi griller was very entertaining and very good besides that the service was horrible. Oh and did I mention this was supposed to be a birthday party yeah they didnt even know that they had to be reminded by the other people at the table that wasnt even there for my girls birthday.
MoreThis is my go to spot when Im in the mood for some sushi in Cedar City! Most nights they are busy and the serves are always calm, friendly, and attentive. Typically I order nigiri and/or udon and I love the freshness of both. The decor is fun and unique to Ninja with all the little action figures. Ive never waited for more than 5 minutes for a table however I typically just go no more than 2 and larger parties should call ahead. Looking forward to coming back again!
MoreLets start with the food. We had 11 people with all various choices. I had the steak and shrimp which was etable. One side was completely omitted...The meal didnt come with any sauces as stated on the menu but there were 11 empty sauce bowls stacked around the table. The service was lacking you would think that when you automatically add gratuity the service would be decent however, there were at least 7 servers and 4 bussers in the dining area and my drink was empty for at least half of my dining experience
MoreThis is always a good idea! Eating here is so good. We like C2 and C3 on the menu which is a variety of rolls. They are all delicious!!!
MoreThe food here is decent. The prices are decent. If you like Japanese food, Im sure this is a good place to go. Unfortunately Im biased as I dont usually like Japanese food 😄
MoreFood wasnt prepared very well. Soup even came out cold. Sushi rolls fell apart just not very good overall.
MoreMy first time there, good variety on menu, we were a group of 5, 3 others have been there before and were not impressed with their food, said it is usually better, so maybe they were having an off day in the kitchen. My yakasoba was mediocre at best.
MoreThe food was absolutely delicious! I would recommend! Our waitress was so sweet and she was very consistent as well. They serve large amounts of food for the money!
MoreIm not big into sushi but met some friends here and turns out there food is really good and service was great! Appearance wise I probably never would of tried it if it wasnt recommended to me.
MoreDelicious food good service. In fact we took our lunch leftovers home and have it for another meal. The only disadvantage is they do not give a veterans discount.
MoreA culmination of failures led to a poor experience. The hostess didnt turn on the grill delaying our chef 10-15 minutes. My "clean" greasy plate was replaced with a chipped one. Another guest found a stray zucchini slice under their plate before any orders were taken. Two different versions of the menu were handed out with conflicting included items and prices for the couples dinner. The online menu doesnt match either printed menu. The vent hood fan was loud and obnoxious and should be replaced with the chipped dishes. No dipping sauces were served similar to other hibachi restaurants.
MoreOverpriced for the dirty plates, leftover food under your plates, wrong menus and semi decent food. I would not recommend eating here. I gave two stars only because our chef was interactive.
MoreNinja is my favorite place to go for lunch in Cedar City. They have a lunch special called the lunchbox that comes with more than enough food for a great price. I also love going during their sushi hour. My goal is to try all of the different sushi rolls.
MoreA few friends and I went here while visiting cedar, and my experience was pretty terrible. I felt that they used low quality ingredients in their food and didnt put any love or care into it at all. For starters I ordered some of their shrimp dumplings, they were just thrown on the plate and tasted like they stuffed them with cat food. I had high hopes for this place and decided to try their octopus sushi; the octopus had no flavor and they put this sauce on the rice (I have no idea what this sauce was but my friends and I didnt like itand that was the sushi. Nothing else. I honestly had never been more surprised and disappointed when it came to the beef udon.. IT CAME OUT IN A CAULDRON (this part was kind of funnyany way I tried to take a sip a few minutes after it came out and burned my tounge on the broth. (My taste buds are swelling and poppingThe broth was nasty, the beef was very rubbery and there was so much broth I had to fish out my meal. To top everything off the place was pretty dirty, there was dust (Im talking big dust bunnies, I could see from where I was sittingin alot of places and our waiter spilled drinks that never got cleaned up.
MoreI know that it may be hard to get fresh fish in Utah, but if youre going to be the only sushi restaurant in town, you should try a little bit harder on cleanliness and freshness of fish. I havent tried any of their non-fish dishes, but I would be wary of sushi and anything with fish in it.
MoreWe had a party of eleven and were seated immediately. Food was delicious as always and our waitress was very attentive and on the ball!
MoreI felt that the owner was somewhat rude/ unfair to our waitress. So we stopped on way out and talked with him.The food and wine was awesome. We did not get reservations time to get a hibachi grill and chef but food was great.
MoreIf youve ever had sushi outside of Utah, this aint it! Extremely limited but, edible. We were served on chipped and broken plates (a violation of health and safetyand the place was dirty - if you like cream cheese and cucumber youll like everything on the menu...ridiculous.
MoreVery interesting display of the Japanese cooking style, however the items served did not match the menu selection. Also the wait staff seems to disappear once the food is prepared, beverage glasses stood empty for a good deal of the duration of the meal. Wine and other alcohol was ordered but no one checked to see if we wanted an other round. The portion was adequate but the food lacked flavor. Although we were asked how we would like our steak prepared everyones food was cooked the same time and it was unevenly portioned out I happened to be the last one served and I had requested my steak medium it was on the grill longer than I would have preferred. Once the cooking was over it became very cold in the area we were seated, we actually had several of the guests put their coats on . Im not comfortable sitting at the table with a bulky winter coat on, but maybe I am an exception to the customers that frequently visit. The wait staff was unavailable for most of the time we were there.
MoreZyan was the best!!!! She remember our order and she new her Sushi. Fun time, great food
MoreMy wife and I loved this place for their sushi hour deals but have recently seen the prices raise slightly and the quality of their food drop. Their sushi used to be very well made (good amount of meat, toppings, and not too much cream cheese), but now it seems that all I taste is cream cheese. It was a huge disappointment to me. The staff also dresses incredibly unprofessionally. One of my waitresses had those long nasty stiletto nails. The fact that she was handling my food with nails like that was sickening to me. And on my last visit my waitress was walking around with her shirt tucked up to show stomach and back. Just very unprofessional for a restaurant like this. Food is 3 stars but the unprofessionalism is incredible so Im leaving 2 stars
MoreFood was pretty dang good. And hibachi chef was fun and interactive. However the orders were misappropriated and drinks werent filled until someone was stopped and asked to. It was the servers 9th shift so understand. All in all pretty good with room for improvement
MoreWe did the hibachi and our chef was very interactive with us the whole time. He made the experience so much more enjoyable. His name was bridger I believe. Then the food was excellent. I would do it again. Anytime.
MoreI love this place! The sushi is delicious, the service is friendly, and the food FANTASTIC! Ill be honest, sushi has always scared me and smelled fishy, but NOT here! It was fresh tasting and delightful! Their spicy edamame, so so good🤤
MoreYes, very good I like it, food was good service was great. Fun place to eat,
My 6-year-old son loves sushi. Its his favorite food. I took him on a dads son date so that he could try real sushi, not just the stuff they give you at Smiths. My wife couldnt believe I spent $40, since I dont take her on dates that cost that much. The food was awesome and my son had no problem in taking the crab legs and chewing him down. Fun environment, great service, and good food
MorePleasantly surprised. A friend recommended we try it while we were in town for the Shakespeare festival. We liked it enough we went twice in three days. The quality of the sushi (nigiri, rollswas all pretty good. I’d put it on par with most sushi places I’ve been to in coastal states. The service was good, and for the most part, pretty quick.I would definitely recommend dining here.
MoreExcellent stop and we’ll worth it. Great food all around, sushi, noddles and especially the Seafood Teriyaki (pictured).Delicious and a must stop.
MoreI went with my family. It was an awesome experience. The chefs are entertaining showmen and the food was delicious and plentiful. We ended up with leftovers. My wife and I had the meal deal for two. I dont usually enjoy shrimp, but theirs was great. It was my first time having Edamame. The chef tosses you shrimp with the spatula. My son caught it on the first try. I totally failed. I guess I have lousy mouth eye coordination. My nieces are all into sushi and they all found rolls that they enjoyed.
MoreWent out for dinner with the family and had an excellent time at Ninja. The food and service was excellent. I ordered the filet and my wife ordered the chicken both were fantastic.
MoreSushi rolls are small, very thin sliced fish and my soup was cold. Its an ok place, service was good, but food lacked freshman and flavor. Want go back.
MoreDelicious and fresh! Very good service, appetizers came out quickly. They have awesome sashimi and edamame, the lunchbox sushi meals were perfect for our five year old! They also had kids chopsticks that were easy for him to use. Were coming back!
MoreNot only is the sushi some of the yummiest Ive had landlocked, but the Japanese dishes served dining or hibachi are delicious too. I eat here with my husband and family a lot! If you have a larger group it definitely helps to call ahead. One of the best restaurants in Cedar.
MoreThe service was very friendly and the food was pretty good. However, the sushi was disappointing. The fish and crab were ground up and wasnt very appealing texture-wise, also the sushi didnt taste as fresh as other Utah locations- which is already low standards as fresh sushi goes. They also saturated it in their special sauce so it tasted really sweet.Overall, I would come back for the food, not the sushi.
MoreNinja needs to invest in itself. From the cheaply replaced signage... failing to properly paint after removing the old one, to dusty old decorations. Its clear the owner has no pride. The plating is old and doesnt make the food look appealing. The quantity of the food isnt bad but we come here for the nicer sushi. The lunch special just didnt do it for me. I will come back another time to give the dinner roll menu a ride.
MoreCustomer service was superb and sushi awesome full price well worth it. The rest of the food was good. My dish was seafood noodles and there was very little seafood should have gone with chicken instead. Overall it was good. Would be willing to try again when driving thru Cedar City
MoreOmg! What a wonderful new experience. We ordered something totally new, and it was a great choice. I love, love, love sushi, and this sushi was no disappointment. Ninja is one of our favorite places to go. The spicy jalapeno is one of my favorites now!
MoreThis is my second time eating here with friends/family. Both times we ate at the Hibachi grill where they prepare your food right in front of you. The food, and the experience, is great. Initially I was unsure of the price, but once I got the food it was worth it. They served a lot of food, it all tasted fantastic. So it is absolutely worth it.
MoreLunch specials are reasonably priced. Their specialty is sushi. I dont recommend the teriyaki steak - small and barely warm. I do recommend the calamari appetizer. They were tender with good flavor about the size of fried cheese sticks. Not a fan of the plastic trays, too much like a school cafeteria.
