Nightjar in Hong Kong

Reservations are recommended as walk ins are hard. We came in the early evening on Saturday so there was no live music, so the atmosphere was more chilled. However the bar was freezing (not sure why the AC was cranked even on a chilly October evening). The drinks are good and varied but I wont be rushing back.

The music was great, its a good place to listen to good jazz, but unfortunately, even with good music, it was one of the worst experiences in London. If youre looking for good service, it might be better to research that first. The service was terrible for me.The employee who received us was very rude. We even need to change tables. Wouldnt go back, would look elsewhere with jazz (which isnt hard to find here).

Would say the venue needed more lighting as you could barely see what drinks you had.Staff hurried us as a group out by ~8/8:30 telling us they had reservations... Meanwhile the entire room was half empty. Didnt make sense but I think we were ready to wave anyways.Do better, as your prices of cocktails are not competitively priced. Foggs Cocktail bar one ups yourself with their venue and even the servers are dressed up to the 9s

Probably the best zombie cocktail Ive ever had. Jazz has a cover but we got there around 10:20 and was only a £4 since it ends at 11pm but they had free music after!

Amazing staff and service. Hosts and floortendere were amazing and made us feel very welcome. Josepes Grand Martini was to do DIE for. A really nice speakeasy spot for quality cocktails. Will be back for more💚

Usually very good but this time we were seated near the toilet and it smelt really bad. Normally don’t mind paying the inflated drink price for the atmosphere but the smell of sewage put us off. Past 2 times were 5 star and this one was a 2, hopefully next time they resolve the issue or we are seated away from the toilet

We were greeted by a very polite doorman but the experience went extremely downhill from there. Nice music and venue but the waitress was extremely dismissive and rude. We were sat down and told it was table service and had to wait a very long time for someone to take our order to the point where we had to go over to the bar to ask to be served. We felt completely ignored and were squeezed in a very tight corner table where we were practically bumping shoulders with the couples either side of us. £6 door charge and £15 drinks each. Once we were finally served I asked for one of the cocktails to which I was told that it was not available with no help to suggest an alternative. I was given a non alcoholic menu and my partner had the IPA. Waited so long for our drinks that we were about to get up and leave but they arrived just as we stood up. The non alcoholic drink was equally sweet and bitter and mostly ginger ale. Not worth the price. We then had to try and get the attention of a member of staff for 15 minutes to come and pay our bill and then promptly left.

Cocktails as great as advertised. Live music and the atmosphere definitely a plus. If you like jazz, a good drink and that Prohibitionist style this place is a must

Wonderful spot with sensational cocktails. As a person pretty steeped in NYC cocktail culture, Nightjar really impressed me all around. The staff were great, jazz night was incredible, and I overall had a few drinks each with a friend. Drinks were on the pricier side around £15 each but they were certainly worth it. Keep in mind that Jazz Night has a cover of £10 per person. Completely worth it in my book. Will definitely be a favorite for dates, and small groups (3-4 max).

Amazing cocktails. Decent prices. Fantastic service. Luckily was a slow night because we did not have reservations, but I understand that you need them most nights. A++++ highly recommend

This truly is an amazing cocktail bar. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, warm and welcoming and we were served some of the best drinks weve had in London. The jazz band on Friday evening were also great and the overall atmosphere is perfect. Will be recommending to everyone and cannot wait to come back!

Great experience, relaxing music, great atmosphere! drinks are creative and characteristic! Our waiter introduced every drink’s flavour and the story behind it to us, which is very professional.However, this is our second time try to visit this place with a booking. The first time we try to visit the security at the front door was rude.Another issue is the drink we ordered served in a duck shaped metal flask. Our curiosity led us to look inside and we discovered rust…

Cool spot for live music. Cocktails a little more experimental but tasty.

a hidden gem. 10/10 cocktails, they all have a something that makes them pop - fire, garnish, glasses, everything. i would say there are more strong flavoured drinks than fruity ones. the live music was a hit however some tables are a foot away, making it impossible to have any conversation…

Good cocktails, quite pricey for what they offer which would have been ok if the service was as high level as the drinks and music were. Our waiter did such a poor job. Forgot to take orders, almost taken our drinks before we were done, was not helpful at all with explaining the menu, and after we’ve already paid the bill (on creditand on our way out he came back to ask us for 1 more pound because he made a mistake on billing. These are of course little things, but the little things are those we pay for and come back for. For me this is the whole experience- we paid 44 pound for two drinks, nice live music and really bad service.

Oh I had been missing a good jazz night for so long! Oriole bar is absolutely one of the best jazz clubs Ive been to in London; first of all, we got lucky because this amazing duet was playing, Baraka Jazz, check them out on Instagram, they really deserve it.Just walking down the stairs and immersing yourself into the vibe makes you feel like in a movie, the chattering of the people, the band playing, the dimmed lights and classy decor, the cocktail bar... and what a choice of cocktails, the beautifully designed menu introduced us to a geographically classified selection of drinks and the way they were presented to us, even the glasses, and definitely the taste, left us so satisfied! We also had some food, mostly small bytes, which usually could be a risky move in a bar in London but I really have to say I was so surprised at how delicious, delicate and flavoursome everything was.

Nice spot out. Menu was amazing had a ton of good options. Server was very attentive.Only downside is the live music was so loud we couldnt hear each other speak, but if you dont mind that its a 5/5

Booked 6 weeks in advanced excited to see some jazz. Received a table in a separate room, glimpses of the stage (most people had no view), and no atmosphere. The £50 cover charge to see the show should not be charged on this table.

Very mediocre and pricy experience.The guy on the door made us wait 15 minutes in the cold for a table, when we eventually got inside there were at least 7 empty tables for 2 people. It seems they’re trying to promote an exclusive image.We were sat under an air con vent so it was also freezing while we were there.The music was good but the experience overall was not worth the £6 cover per person.Two cocktails and 30 minutes ended up costing us £50.

Nothing bad to say about this place. We sat at the bar and were served by Diseree (hope I’m spelling the name right). Me and my boyfriend were celebrating our 3 years anniversary so we were definitely looking for something appropriate for a special occasion. We had 2 AMAZING cocktails each and a great time as Desiree kept explaining what she was serving and being super nice to us. We will definitely come back.

We had a fabulous time at Nightjar last Friday. Great music, great atmosphere, great drinks & fantastic staff. We were served by a very knowledgeable, professional and chic young man who impressed us all. Theres hope for London nightlife with young people like him.

Lovely cocktails with some nice music on the side. I liked the garnishes, the candyfloss was the nicest tasting garnish. Will be back. My girlfriend liked her Tepache drink too and would recommend that x

Wanted to come for a very long time and finally had the opportunity. Did not make a reservation but still got a table. Highly recommend making a reservation.Absolutely excellent cocktail bar.Staff were very friendly and they know the drinks well including the ingredients. Very diverse menu and varied. Excellent drinks and worth the prices comparing to the area.Would like to see some more non alcohol choices and maybe some snacks available.Great atmosphere, the love jazz music was incredible, definitely recommend.

Felt I was transported to another time and place.The bar has a retro/ speakeasy atmosphere with GREAT music and good cocktails.Direct entry to my must go London list.

What a venue. The cocktails list is incredible. Staff were all friendly and helpful. And a really welcoming atmosphere. Brilliant band playing some great jazz. A must visit if you are in the area, but book a table in advance.

Outstanding cocktails and vibes! Nightjar is a unique piece of Old Street’s nightlife and never fail to impress. I tried their ‘Soul Kiss’ smoky cocktail and was completely blown away by the depths of flavours and contrasts it delivered! The pianist on stage that night also gave a fantastic performance that my family enjoyed dearly. Piece of advice though: book well in advance because this place is popular (for all the right reasons!Cheers 🍸

Had a great time at nightjar on a Friday evening. Made reservation for jazz night and the band was very good. Cocktails are great as well. Note that Jazz night booking costs about 10 pounds per person and they also add service charge.

One of my favorite speakeasies in London. You need to book, but it’s worth it for the live music from 9-11pm. Drinks are great, albeit pricey. Then again, you’re paying for the vibe. I’d recommend for a date or a group of 3-4 max.

First time in a jazz club, loved it so much. Service is kind and drinks are really tasty and well presented. We had a specialty of the house with gin and tea for 3, served in a owl jar exuding fumes at the beginning (carbonic ice)We sat first row from the piano and the artist was fun and talented. We could still hear ourselves talking so I would recommend booking close to the stage.Decorations are dainty and elegant, i think it is perfect for a date (we were there on tuesday « girls afterwork drinks »)Thank you for the memories!

A gem in the city. Nice interior with friendly staff. This place has space for sitting only. The entrance is quite obscure and easy to miss with just a small sign on a brown door. However, its just before or after KFC depending on the direction of travel. I enjoyed live music here. Check it out...

I highly recommend visiting (better book a tableNightjar for its craft cocktail making!I had the privilege of sitting at the bar because I was on my own and from watching them at work and engaging with them, I can say they take their job seriously. And thats important because (I dont know about you butI hate bars where they give you half-arsed drinks and still asking you premium prices.Here at Nightjar, even if you dont fall in love with your drink for any reason, you still know you just drank an absolute original with carefully thought-out ingredients (half of which probably homemade and unique).And the atmosphere is the best thing about Nightjar; thats what London should be about.

Still one of the best cocktail bars in London. Operationally run very well, smooth greeting and being shown to table. Prompt service and great music which was a jazz blues three piece the night we went. But above all else is the quality of cocktails, each one is a delight from the blend, the choice of glass or cup or container, the garnish or taste accompaniment (like tiny serve of sorbet).. each drink has character and drama and just a pleasure to consume.Such a great night out and well worth the visit, transporting you back to glamorous New York prohibition speak easy era

Great vibes! Nice little speakeasy thats easiest to get into when you book in advance online. Nice intimate space, great cocktails, phenomenal service, and an opportunity to listen to some great live music with most seats in the house being a great seat.

Great cocktails. Shame about the service. Was here for birthday drinks. Waiter spilled drink on my partners dress and offered the most insincere apology ever. Then we were needlessly reminded 45 minutes left on our table. Okay fine. 20 minutes to go bill is printed without our requesting it. I guess we didn’t want one for the road! Reputed to be a top establishment but for me a fraud. 👎🏾 More professional and better service elsewhere making your experience a more relaxed and enjoyable one

Awesome place, great cocktails (but bear in mind the ones on the website aren’t the ones that are available to order as of right now which was quite surprising for us but the drinks were still fantastic). From drinks we liked Barrel Aged Zombie and Japanese Sling the most but I liked all of them except Sinchelada which tasted like a pure tomato juice to me. The music was really nice and we got great view just as requested. It’s insanely difficult to book for the weekends - we booked a month in advance for Sunday. The downside of coming on Sunday was that they were out of most food (the only thing left from the small plates was a meat dish and I am vegetarian). Overall a really nice place with great atmosphere and drinks but do not come hungry on a Sunday :)

Best Cocktail Bar in the city. Especially for those who are used to stronger drinks. Service was excellent. Cocktails were delicious, inventive, beautiful and with proper booze. I highly recommend this bar to anyone traveling to London.

Nightjar is classy, amazing and exquisite!They have excellent cocktails which are made with a lot of detailed care and precision and some theatrics! The menu is extensive including a few seasonal options.The staff here truly care about your experience (from the security guard to the people serving youand take the time to explain the cocktails ordered. Making the customer happy is their main priority.We really enjoyed the live music as well which only adds to the lovely ambience!Love this place and definitely recommend it to everyone! 😊
