Nhà hàng Highway 4 - Vietnamese restaurant in Son Tay, Vietnam
A little bit disappointed today. Fairly indifferent service and the food was also quite bland and oily. The menu is extensive and looks really interesting. However as a solo diner they really couldn’t be bothered and I felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience to them.I’m sure it was just an ‘off day’If you’re in a group I’m sure you’ll be fine
Extremely good food! My friends and I enjoyed every dish we asked. I was happy to even find rabbit in here which was delicious. Love this place so much and I would definitely come back. U will pay a bit more than expected if u compare it to the regular Vietnam food but trust me, it is super worth it. Recommended!
Pricey for Vietnam... But is that a bad thing? The food is incredible, their story is fascinating, and the place is in great shape. Happily surprised!
Location: 4/5 easily walkable from the main streetsPrice: 4/5 reasonable prices for the quality of the food offeredService: 3/5 minimal service like all Asian restaurants but it is easy to flag down a waiter if neededFood: 4/5 food came out fairly quick and it was good.-Catfish springrolls is highly recommended and didnt disappoint-Frog leg stir fry was liked by the parents but it was ok for me. They were a bit hard/boney to eat-Barracuda was average. Wouldnt order again-Crab glass noodle was great! Definitely will order again
This restaurant came recommended through someone we had met on a day trip so my friends decided to try it out. Has vegetarian options too. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food here. I believe the prices are comparable to similar places. I had tried the nems, noodles, fish (baracudaand rabbit. All were really good except for the rabbit which was just ok. We had ordered the roasted rabbit but it was more like a stew. This place is good for groups.
The food is quite good and the menue offers a large variety. It was a bit disappointing that many things on the menue were not served or were out of stock. On the craft bee menue, there were only two beers out of 10+ listed available. The staff was nice though and the place was clean and cozy.
Excellent food, but many choices from the menu were not available. One ordered dish just never came. Staff doesnt speak much English.
Cannot understand the recommendations to this place. Terrible food, far away the tasty vietnamese flavours and very expensive given the quality of of food. Waiter/kitchen forgot our orders. Would not recommend this place. Go somewhere else.
Greet vegetarian and local vietnam food
We got the catfish rolls, duck stew, snail stew, and banana leaf salad. Catfish rolls were pretty bland and weve had better banana leaf salads elsewhere. The menu is huge (100+ itemsand I think its hard to do justice to everything, versus the stalls that just do a few things really well. A pass for me.
Service was normal. We ordered the highway 4 fried rice, tat taste more like normal rice with added coloring. Crab n eggplant broth smell was way too earthy. Fried chicken was ok.
Very special restaurant - we had a tasty dinner and a perfect waitress explaining everything with enthusiasmWe really had a perfect time at highway4Best restaurant we tried this week in Hanoi and probably will come back tomorrow before leaving vietnam
Lots of options for food catered towards tourists. Lots of people selling food in the street as well.
Very friendly staff and good food and local beers and spirit! I definitely recommend going here. Prices are above average but still acceptable
We ordered 6 dishes for our dinner and none of one taste good cause the food is too salty. The place may be good for beer and snacks. The environment is good.
The food ranges from good to great to amazing. I have been half a dozen times and the freshness of the ingredients and cooking techniques are perfect. Service is fast and efficient. My favorites. Catfish springrolls. Fried shrimp. Pork belly. Mushrooms.
Nice restaurant with good food, bit pricey and fancier than other local restaurants.
Food very oily and greasy, experimental but not very tasty. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
I was recommended by my local friend from Hanoi to come to this restaurant to try crab meat hotpot. The staff was able to change the topping of the hotpot and the noodle type based on our preference. They also have good craft beer and cocktails. The price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food we had. The hotpot is good for three or four people. I also liked country music played in the restaurant. Good ambiance too. I will come back again when I visit Hanoi. Good service and explanation of specialties. Highly recommended.
Delicious food, you could try a lot of unusual things here like roasted crickets, pigeon and frog. Staff is very friendly and speaks English. I especially respect the owner works here by himself talking to guests and recommending different things to taste to.
We were told to go and the place is fine.Good: banana flour salad - water spinach - duck breast stewNot good: catfish rolls (the fish is deep fried, mayonnaise is too much, the sauce is too strong).Prices are fair, staff speaks English ok ;)
Fantastic restaurant for dinner. Large selection of local rice based spirits. Very cool atmosphere
Amazing food and great atmosphere. If you wanna try something new, they have insects and a lot of types of fish
Very good and clean place, very good and typical food. Recommended
The owner is very passionate about his food and drink. He and his staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had a great meal and would be happy to go back again.
Enjoyed modern Vietnam cuisines and local liquors, and likes its free atmosphere.
The food is decent, but the service was not good. We ordered cocktails during happy hour, and specifically asked if the cocktails we ordered were included. The waitress said yes, and when the bill came we were charged for 2 cocktails. We tried to discuss this with one of the staff and she was quite rude.
Banana leaf wrapped beef strips was tough. Generally, the food is nicely presented. Wished that it could be better cooked. Staff is friendly!
All the criticisms below held for our visit. Poor food. Expensive for Hanoi. Trying to do 100 dishes on the menu when nearby places may only do one (excellently). Good craft beer selection and trendy decor.
Very good customer service, the owner gave a good introduction to the menu, lots of interesting and unique things there + their own highly acclaimed drinks range. Good food and good prices, especially considering how close it is to the expensive Ta Hien area.
Great food, awesome customer service.Plenty of options for vegans, Vegetarians and meat eaters. The alcohol is all local,Great atmosphereDefinitely a place to check out when you are in Hanoi.
Cosy atmosphere with a good feel to the place. Lovely welcome from the Hungarian manager. He was very knowledgeable about all the wide range of food on offer and talked at length about the craft ciders and rice liqueurs. All of which were produced just for a few restaurants. We choose a selection based upon our hosts recommendations and were not disappointed! Very fresh ingredients and cooked really well. Thoughrly enjoyed our experience.
Super vibrant and well decorated atmosphere. If youre feeling adventurous, definitely go here! I had the crickets and they were delicious; tasted like flaky peanuts with lemongrass. Cuisine is northern Vietnamese. If youre also just feeling comfort food, you can find something delicious! They also offer an excellent selection of rua (made by one of the co-owners I believe). Get the taster flight. The description of each rua is spot on! I wish I could go back!
Really yummy! 🤤Staff was really welcoming too! ^ ^
Unfortunately, quality and taste doesnt hold up to any street food or local establishment.I had a soup and rice with vegetables for dinner.Wouldnt recommend this place if youre passing through or spending a few nights in Hanoi because there is so much good food all around. Not for the budget conscious traveller.
Great location, great food & service. A little bit different from the main stream and I am glad that I stumbled into this place by accident. Highly recommed to check out this restaurant once you are wandering around Hanois old Town.
Good prices, and it has a more organised feel to it. There is a huge variety of foods, beef, chicken, pork, tofu, insect, buffalo, frog and prepared in interesting ways too. There is smoked buffalo that tastes similar to biltong or beef jerky.
Excellent food (introducing nu-NorthVietnam cusineand drinks (own-brew apple cider and extremely smooth rice vodka etcin a comfortable and clean place. Highly recommended :)
We ate here for Christmas Dinner and the food was great. There where a lot of dishes available, almost one hundred. The staff explained it was a bit like tapas and you would eat several dishes over the evening. Prices where very good considering the portion sizes (big!).
Quirky restaurant that specialises in critters, insects, and lesser known delicacies. Safest choice are the spring rolls if your stomach isn’t up to the task!
The Signature catfish spring rolls (80kis tasty with fresh crispy fish that goes well with the tangy wasabi sauce.
Asian food adapted a little bit to tourist, however without loosing the taste. The atmosphere and service are good. Nice selection of local stong alcohols. Prices reasonable.
A BUNCH OF CHEATERSThe food is ok (it is not the best place in Hanoi anywaysbut THE PROBLEM COMES WHEN PAYING. We were 10 people and in the invoice it says the fee WITHOUT VAT. So when you pay by card, they add 10%, and we ended up paying 10 USD extra. When I asked the red invoice for my company, they say it will take 10 days to send it to the company, because they do not have red invoice there. Obviously they want to avoid paying for taxes but they charge you for it!Apart from this, and as per usual in Vietnam, they forget half of the dishes you order and have to ask for them over and over.
Delicious food! This restaurant specializes In Northern Vietnamese specialties- Very eclectic menu. Well priced, very tasty food, service very helpful and friendly. They have everything on the menu from spring rolls to crickets/ants. Try the water buffalo spring rolls, banana flower salad, tofu fried in salted egg- everything we ate was great. The downside is it can be smoky and noisy so ask to sit upstairs. Clean & inviting ( clean bathrooms also )
I guess we didnt order the right food. Everything was so-so. Theyre spicy despite they claim otherwise.
Good staff and great food. Would be a better budget ordering as a group rather than a solo traveller but draft beer was nice and fair priced. Also great bar snacks or appetisers if you just want a quiet drink and some sides. Good wifi and very accommodating.
Cozy and nice place. The food is tasty! :-)
Cozy relaxed atmosphere. Great if you are a westerner, want to eat good value local food, but dont quite dare to do it off the street. Here it feels a bit "safer" as the menu and service are in English. But its NOT a tourist trap, so definitely recommended. They offer rice wine (local liquor tasting, see pics). Not sure what they could have done better. I even returned next time I was in Hanoi.
Catfish spring rolls: soooooooooo good. Frog legs so tender and white. This has seriously been my best meal in Vietnam in five trips. Wonderful herbs and sauces give incredible flavour to great produce. Well priced wine plus Asias best beer, Beer Lao.
Highway4 is a very cozy place. The food is affordable and very delicious! The servers were very friendly. Their catfish spring rolls are amazing. If you are staying at Hanoi Legacy Hotel, I highly recommend popping in to Highway4, as they are literally a few steps away from each other.
