Airy temple gifted in 1558 by Prince Minyedeippa, featuring a 5-tiered pagoda & large Buddha statue.
The relation of the way
Peaceful enviornment. Can explore historic things.
1. Just across the street from The Chauk Htat Kyi Pagoda a few minutes walk;2. Free admission, but enter the temple barefoot;3. The only thing to look at is the sitting statue of the Buddha, which can be taken as a souvenir。
Good and peaceful place to visit. Buddha statue in sitting position. Unfortunately it was under maintenance when I visited so the statue was completely covered. Enjoy the rare pics.
Beautiful crafted teak wood panels in this temple.
The largest Buddha I’ve ever seen!
nice old temple, free admission, 10 minutes walk from the reclining buddha.
Quality pagoda in Yangon that is worth a visit. Recently restored and not crowded at all. Peaceful and tranquil place. Easy walk from the lounging Buddha about 15 minutes away. You get to walk through some traditional neighborhoods which is interesting. Worth a quick stop of your are nearby.
A good religious place to relieve stress by meditation
Tours attraction site
Remarkably beautiful statue of Lord Buddha...very peaceful ambience
peaceful place with a beautiful Buddha image.
I am Burmese..and I love Myanmar Culture..
No English, but had some pictures of the life of the Buddha with an English sentence, it read, practicing extreme samatha, ariya sacca dukkha?
Standing as one of the nine big pagodas (Kyee koe kyee), this pagoda is a place for those who have faith in Buddha and those who want to say for prayers.
Recommend to visit and pray for A Huge Buddha.
Decent place, I would come only if its on the way. Not worth a trip by itself...
Good and silent place . Huge statue with delightful.
Lovely temple filled with active worshippers and learners. We enjoyed waiting out a downpour in the covered stairs leading up to the main hall.
its a quiet place for meditation and you will gain incredible experience of mindfulness in front of huge awesome Buddha statute . It also has Buddha literature classes om week ends in myanmar language .
Good Buddha image. Silance and peace for mind.
Warning!!!There was a monk persuading my friend and me to go see inside parts of the pagoda’s area. He cooperated with an old glassed guy. Their tour took around 20 minutes and they asked for money at the end of the tour. They have not informed us about this and they said they just wanted to show us more about hidden colonial building. What they shown were not that interesting and they took us very far from where other people/tourists were. We felt like a fool since we did not expect any situation like this to happened in a temple/pagoda where people should not commit things like this. Even though they asked us for 5 US, we paid 550 KYAT and told them we were running out of money. They were obviously upset, so we left as soon as possible. If they wanted to be a guide, then there should be an official guide for this pagoda, not just did this for their own sake.
Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda is famous Buddha Image in Yangon(Myanmar).Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda is Sitting Buddha Image and Near by Chauk Htat Gyi reclining Buddha Imgae .You can see masterpiece of burmar .
quiet place and amazing structure of buddha statue
You can drive up along stairway to upper car parking.Only entrance from shwegondaing road.
Beautiful and massively huge shrine figure. No entrance fees and the people working there are lovely. Be aware you must have on proper clothing for temples. I didnt see anywhere here that you could rent or buy proper attire. Highly reccommended!
A huge Buddha sitting right in front of you. An interesting experience.
Large Buddha, interesting view of enlightenment down the right hand side. Watch out for monks giving you necklaces as a present, but really that "gift" involves a donation, just give it back and continue along, no worries.
Nearby and walkable from the Chauk Htat Kyi buddha (Reclining Buddhais the Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda which houses the sitting Buddha. With its towering height, I would totally encourage you to see it should you be in the area. Its just across the street from the reclining buddha. Entrance is free. Foreigners are encouraged to donate. However donations are still up to you ultimately.
This is situated in Yangon and in front of Chaukhtatgyi. Please dont miss to visit this pagoda.
Very different trusties with great management and best caring to vistor.
I didnt get to see the temple because I was taken away by a "monk" who showed me another place which was not the temple, he was quite aggressive and insisted to get a "donation". I think it was a drug addict (nervous, black teethwho pretended to be a monk. If you go to see any temple, never accept any spontaneous help
Watch out for people trying to show you a monastery. They will just try to get you to pay money for some reason (for some type of operation of kids, etc.)
A massive warehouse that has been converted into a pagoda. It houses a 100 year old sitting buddha image that is 9 meter tall and 14 meter wide. Definitely worth a visit.
Ngar Htat Kyi pagoda is a sitting Buddha image which is housed in Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda situated on Shwe Gon Taing Road, Tamwe Township just across the Chauk Htat Kyi Pagoda. The Ngar Htat Gyi Buddha Image is mounted across the Chauk Hta Kyi Buddha Image.
One of the best places to visit if youre a buddhist.
Big bhudda image so beautiful
not crowded place but very good to visit
Quite a colorful place to visit at night time
The pagoda is located on the hill. So we have to climb a bit. There is a big Buddha image and worth to visit. The hills behind the pagoda have many monastery and walking around this area is also enjoyable.
It was under restoration. Just in front of Chauk Htat Kyi pagoda. Use the same trip to visit both. The taxi from sule pagoda to here was 3000. The entrance es free. There are bathrooms relatively clean
The statue is bwing rehabilitated so I can clearly see it. What I love with every pagoda is the peoples observance of proper behavior.
Buddha Images which devout Myanmar Buddhists built in the early days of British rule is the commonly known Nga Htat Kyi Buddha Image. About a mile east of Shwwedagon Pagoda is an enormous Buddha image in a sitting position housed in an iron Tazaung(pavilionbuild on the summit of a wooded hillock in Bahan Township of Yangon. Third largest sitting Buddha Image in Yangon it bearsthe Pali name "Maha Thetkya Atula Man Aung " meaning "Great Thetkya Peerless Victor of all enemies". Thetkya was the name of the race to which Gotama Buddha belonge. Built of brick and cement concrete, the image takes the style of bhumiphasa siparsa mudra (earth touching postureindication that the Buddha was calling upon Earth to stand witness to all his wholesome deeds.A big stone slab bearing 80 lines of inscriptions on its front and back and a huge bell of 13 feet and 8 inches high, weighing 5000 viss bearing 63 lines of inscriptions on its body are found in the pavilion. These inscriptions tell us the history of the Image and biography of the donors.Where the image now is situated was previously called "Ashey Tawya" (the great Eastern Forest Recules). A place where Buddhist monks of forest dweller type resided to pursue the path of a solitary holy life of forest monks meditation and practicing the teachings of the Buddha.
Across the street from the "famous" large reclining Buddha (see my post on that one), this one is even more of a let down. Yeah its kind of big, and the wood carving behind it is somewhat impressive because of its size and intricate nature, but it is still not that impressive in the grand scheme of things. No need to spend more than 15 minutes here.
A nice temple and quite an impressive Buddha image. Worth a visit, but be aware of people following you all the way telling you where to take a picture, telling you what you didnt ask and then asking you for a donation or telling you about their 81-years old uncle who is a monk and asking about a donation for that uncle after! Theres a lot of them! Just ignore them!
Serene Pagoda with huge Buddha statute, situated atop a hill. Along the route to the reclining Buddha. They also taught about Buddhism to locals at the back of this statute.
Serene temple with huge statue of Buddha. Located up a hill away from the main roads & heavy traffic.
l like Buddha image the most.it is the most beauty Myanmar art.
I visited after Chaukhtatgyi Paya. It is just opposite to it. The long walk before entering the temple might let you give up, just keep walking you will find it is a nice and peaceful place to take good rest. And there are also come Thai buddha images there. I would recommend to add more English translations on the introduction of the history and buddha stature. Watch it with not much background story is not satisfied to the tourist I think. There is no entrance fee but a donation box in front writes "FOREIGNERS ARE REQUESTED TO CONTRIBUTE US AS YOUR WISH FOR RENOVATION OF THE PAGODA", I have donated but with uncomfortable feeling that I got a kind of force since I am a foreigner. As for me, I think a reasonable entrance fee is much better than this kind of donation.
A smaller but peaceful pagoda. Theres a wall with an optical illusion installation.
