64 Atlantic Blvd, Bakau, Gambia, Banjul
Set 25 km from Banjul International Airport, this polished beachfront hotel is 2 km from the Kachikally Museum and Crocodile Pool, and 9 km from Bijilo Forest Park.Relaxed rooms with warm decor offer Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking equipment, plus minifridges, and balconies or terraces. Refined suites add private gardens, pools and/or whirlpool tubs; some include ocean and/or pool views. There's a laid-back restaurant, an outdoor infinity pool and a terrace, plus direct beach access.
Wonderful hotel with great staff! We stayed here for a week during the raining season (Septemberso the hotel was almost deserted. A big privilege because we had the pool for ourselves and the staff did everything to make us comfortable.Only downside was the service button at the pool didnt work so we draw the attention or walk up to the restaurant in order to get service at the infinity pool (first world problems right). The room (14Bwas huge, with a great garden, pool and seaview. One minor miss in the room is the airconditioning that is only available in de bedroom, so the living room is extremely hot. The WiFi is pretty good and stable in the room and on the balcony, but not if you are at the infinity pool.We didnt used the second pool next to the restaurant because it didnt look clean and actually smelled, but I guess this pool wasnt used at the moment because of the low season. The restaurant has a nice menu but the prices are quite steep, but still acceptable. The only negative thing I can say is the lack of diversity during breakfast. Yes they make great eggs on demand or you can choose for fresh baked pancakes but other then that, theres only some cheese, one or two pastries, some fresh cut fruits, yogurt and serials that tasted old. Its definitely not a full continental breakfast, so hopefully in the future they have more breakfast options to choose from.Overal a great place to stay in a quiet area without being flooded by other tourists.
The good awesome and chef was able to make things extra special by making a seafood pasta dish
Great hotel, great service. Nice place to have peace and enjoy in sound of waves. Food is also nice, a little bit more expensive than restaurants in Senegambia. Nice people is what makes this hotel so beautiful. You will enjoy 100%
Only went here for dinner and the food was delicious although pricy. The view of the ocean makes this the perfect spot to eat and watch the sun set.
This review refers to the restaurant at Ngala Lodge. Though the food is quite tasty and the view from the restaurant floor is nice, expect to get charged a 15% service fee on top of what are already expensive prices for food in the Gambia. The staff will also try and add another 4.5% credit card fee if you dont have cash. If you want to take photos by the ocean you will also not be allowed to do this if you are not a hotel guest. It is for these reasons that I would not recommend this dishonest restaurant.
One of the best views of the beautiful coast of The Gambia. Great customer service and food is great but a bit pricey compared to other comparable options in the area.
Nice location, on cliffs overlooking ocean. Service so and so. Food OK. Overrated and overpriced.
Paradise in the heart of Gambia! With no hesitation - book! Highly recommended.
Nice, little service, great sunset in west Africa
The ambiance and food was A1.
Loved the food especially the bread
Fabulous place to stay for business or to relax and enjoy unwinding. Generous sized air-conditioned rooms, only a few moments walk to the sea front and the grounds gardens and infinity pool. Restaurant is well recommended being one of the best in area.
For a place like Ngala was expecting so much more especially with service quality. I had recommended the place to friends for dinner and he was asked numerous times if he could afford his order which was absolutely unexpected and profiling. For the price I paid for the steak I was expecting so much more in the taste but it didnt meet my expectations unfortunately. The place is absolutely beautiful, the stunning seaview and fresh breeze. The gardens and private space are amazing as well. I just hope my experience can be restored on my next visit.
AMAZING PLACE! have been fortunate to be directed here. the owners are wonderful people ❤️ the staff is wonderful. the grounds are not amazing and interesting! the rooms are unique, each with their own theme and style. wish i could stay a month and experience all of it! fall asleep and wake to the sounds of the ocean, palm trees and birds. the restaurant is awesome. vegetarian options ❤️ keep your eyes open all the time, there are tonnes of things to see everywhere! many of the loyal helpers have been here for decades. keep your ears open for stories and lore. nice quiet road outside of the city, and many other accoutrements you can check out on the website! 😎
A really nice hotel with beautiful grounds.
Spectacular dining area overlooking the ocean. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend
I went to the restaurant. Just want to say exceptional food. Great staff and wonderful service. The grounds are lovely. Will definitely be back to check out the facilities
Exceptional view from the beach restaurant.Very friendly staff. The food was very good and reasonably priced. They could use new decor.Anyways, I’d recommend it.
Beautiful location .lovely food. Safe
A conducive place for holiday makers. Their food is exquisite and a perfect customer service. You wont regret choosing Ngala Lodge.
An absolutely amazing hotel by any standards, not just in comparison to the somewhat meager offerings nearby. The staff is professional yet kind and welcoming, the restaurant amazing, the grounds well kept, the views breathtaking with the rooms huge, well maintained and nicely furnished. Choosing to stay anywhere but here when in the Banjul area would be a bad decision. Prices are not the lowest but also not overpriced, good value overall.
Very comfortable here, staff excellent, food probably the best in the Gambia, not cheap but you get what you pay for, johnathon the manager makes you feel so special an incredible man. Good luck ngala
This place has a special place in my heart. The loml proposed to me there.I love the interior deco , especially the decor in the ladies lavatory and the view baby . The food is superb, the tapas are delicious and I recommend the seafood platter absolutely amazing. Chef was quite nice. The whole dining experience was amazing and the service was excellent. The sunset view is to die for.
A great scenery a little haven ambience with classy service and the shores of the Atlantic. Must visit while in the west.
Simply wow. I love the interior deco and the location. Its probably one of the more expensive lodges around the area but the service and the sea view and access you get is amazing
Absolutely wonderful-a liitle slice of heaven. Been coming here every year for many years. Just beautiful. Staff are the tops.Just returned after yet another wonderful holiday in "my second home". Been coming here every year for a very long time. Staff are like my family, wonderful food, fantastic suites, best location in The Gambia. Gardens "out of this world". Incredible.
Excellent views, the restaurant is situated where you can enjoy the ocean. The staff provides prompt service and theres a variety of food options.
Beautiful place! I liked sitting at the Resturant because we got a full view of the beach. Will definitely visit again when I go back to The Gambia
Perfect location. Very quiet! Huge very nuce african decorated rooms. Excellent chef. Friendly and very helpfull staff. The impossible can be made possible their!
Place is beautifull but do not take the traditional Gambian food here. It did not taste well.
Ngala lodge is the most wonderful place to go, the food is absolutely fantastic, waiters are so kind nothing to much trouble, the view is wonderful, look for yourself
If you are not a fan of the town buzz and mainly the Senegambia area, this is the place to be. Amazing environment, greatest seafood/food and I just love the lights at night.
Excellent resort hotel in Bakau. Our room (room 18was huge, with sofas and a large bed surrounded by mozzie netting, and had a large balcony that looked out over the ocean. Super helpful staff. Food is amazing, although not cheap.Highly recommended
Great hotel. Ambience ++. Restaurant has good options. Room service available at no extra charge. Masseuse +++ and can be done in room or balcony and at your convenience at no extra cost. Got a beach view and awesome.
Criminal overcharging for distinctly average food. This was our most underwhelming experience in The Gambia. I am not sure how exactly the restaurant had the audacity to serve one minuscule brochette of chicken as the satay starter which we ordered. The ladyfish main course was so dry that the half of it we ate we had to wash down with water. The cocktail mixed by ‘the best bartender in The Gambia’ was equally atrocious - see photo attached. I’ve given this review two stars, however, because the THREE prawns I received as my main (at £8 a pop!tasted nice. After reading all the reviews about this place, we were shocked by the quality and quantity of the food. The ‘explanation’ provided: “This is Ngala Lodge”. Please, save yourself some disappointment and avoid.
Hotel was lovely ...room was very nice . The dinner in evening was well presented and taste was excellent .. Hotel is very quiet but just felt it lacked atmosphere for me ...
Have been here 10 days and loved every minute. Rooms are extremelyly spacious and spotlessly clean. Food is deservedly the best in The Gambia. Beef imported from USA, fresh fish from up the road daily. Staff are a sheer delight. 2 lovely pools and beautiful garden s. If you come please dont just stay at the hotel. Go and visit The Gambia. Its safe, very different and the locals are so willing to help. Dont think theyre pestering its just their way. Above all enjoy its a real experience.
Ate at the restaurant. This is the height of luxury in The Gambia with lots of imported foods, but cooked well. Mains start from around 900D and were delicious. Desserts are 500D but weren’t as well done sadly. Mille feuille was quite heavy and crime brûlée was curdled a bit. Cocktails and wine were very good. 3% card charge.Great service and beautiful setting. If you don’t know the area you might want pre-organise your transport home or ask the staff to organise on arrival as Fajara is a quiet ex-pat area. Or you can walk towards Kairaba Avenue (15-20 Minsand find a passing yellow cab.
booked for 5 people to take family out for special meal, waited until we had had cocktails and ordered our meals before saying they had no baracuda, no lamb and no prawns. this took many meals off the menu. charged the same for sole sans prawns then tried to hit us with a 3.5% surcharge to pay 8500 dalasi on visa we had checked they took visa when booking. no apology. Agreed with me the chef had forgotten to go shopping. when asked why we werent told half the menu was missing when we booked, we were told "I didnt take the booking, it was someone else". Clueless (absent management left clueless staff to run restaurant. Avoid.
Peaceful...!! The view is to die for.U get to relax. Food is amazing too.I endeavour to go there every month!!! Thats how refreshing it is #2018myyearofreview
Great hotel, fabulous grounds, food and most of the staff.Unfortunately we had a significant amount of money stolen from our room, which was handled very unsympathetically by management.Without this unfortunate experience overshadowing our holiday a little itd be a five star review.
This is a great small hotel with nice rooms and good food But the management really lets the place down,The centre of the whole complex is the restaurant and its dead dead dead with no ambience whats so ever, the nights when they do have something on its so quite it does not really change the ambiance when is dead, so everyone just goes eats and then back to the room by 9pm its dead, what they dont understand is that if they had a little music even from the stereo it would change the ambiance and people would stay and spend more on drinks, this place had some of the best entertainment in Gambia at one point and now its just been run down, there is low key entertainment but this goes beyond that to almost nothing, of some one got a hold of this part in f the hotel then this would be a top notch place to be,maneagement stop being lazy and sort it out and dont say this is what people want as its not,
We had a great stay at Ngala lodge and if you prefer to have a relaxed holiday in a beautiful environment with passionate and friendly people then we can highly recommend you to go here! Peter and Regina
Best hotel in The Gambia - wonderful bespoke hotel right on the ocean front. Every room is unique with its own unique art. Gardens are mature and beautifully kept. Food is expensive for The Gambia but as good as you will find.
I havent stayed here (yetbut the food is insane! The staff is impeccable and the view is just incredible. A local man serenaded the dinner crowd with Beatles hits and I ate lobster while watching a gorgeous sun set over the water. Ive also heard that they take card and that the wifi here is amazing and that D100 will but you coffee and biscuits if you need a web surfing day.
One of the best resorts that I have been in my entire life. Nice food, great desserts and exceptional serving. Its a "must go" in Gambia.
Its an amazing place with the perfect ambiance. The food is good and the service even better. Im never disappointed coming here because their good quality is consistent. The best part is the musician who performs there...his performance is subtle and blends with the environment allowing you to chat but also beautiful. He can sing any song and can imitate Louis Armstrong. Give it a shot!
Fantastic small hotel to stay!Great rooms and staff on a wonderful place.Enjoy the sunset from the pool with a drink and eat afterwards in the hotel restaurant. Also if you are not staying in the hotel, try the restaurant. A great menu, prepared by a British chef.
The best hotel in Gambia, West Africa. Its also ranked the fourth most romantic hotel in Africa. The hotel is located on cliff top with an excellent good view. They have the best restaurant with excellent cooks.Definitely the best! !
The most romantic 5 star hotel from West-Africa! The great location on the Atlantic ocean and a wonderfull staf makes your stay in this hotel to an unforgettable experience.
