Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery - Monastery in Taunggyi, Myanmar
Nothing much to see, but the ancient Buddha status.
No more cats jumping but nice Buddhist monastery
You’ll end up here when you take a boat tour and while the exterior isn’t breathtaking, the insides relics are. Incredible wood carving, beautiful statues and details and quite a few (non-jumpingcats wandering around. Nice views across the gardens as well.
One of the heritage monastery, for torist attraction.01.04.2020
Beautiful lake
It is a unique monastery. It does not great from the outside, but inside there are so many Buddha artifacts and it is not crowded.
Good place to visit
Cats dont jump anymore, they just sleep. It is so peaceful place in Inle lake. Hope that it not be overtourists in some day.
It is a beautiful wooden Monastery, nice and peaceful in the middle of the lake and lots of history too ( no entrance feegot a view from the door

Nga Hpe Kyaung Monastery lies in the North of Ywama Village, built on stilts on Inle Lake. It is the biggest and oldest wooden monastery in the Inle region.
Amazing views from this monastery! Thanks to lotus and others plants there is no waves and its like a mirror lake! Worth it!
Photo taken from Nga Phae Chaung Monastery... ❤
A quiet monastery. The highlight is the main halls gorgeous collection of buddhas and platforms in different style.
Here is the place you will go if take a boat tour. The Wooden Buddhism monastery stand in the lake. Consider to get wet-less by the wind direction, the most buddha status faces to south or north. BTW, another great viewpoint is the double roof temple design.
No more “jumping cat”, the cats are free now.Peaceful monastery, but there is a rule about “not allow women to touch the budha”.Tea is for free. While I was sitting silently there, suddenly came a cat, she touched me and sleept next to me right after that! U know the feeling “you were choosen by a cat” ya~
It is a wooden monastery built on stilts and the oldest & largest one in Inle Lake. A peaceful place where raising lots of friendly and cute cats. I came here around 3pm and almost all the cats are sleeping, they dont perform jumping.
Famous Jumping cat monastery. Cats dont jump anymore, just sleep around the hall. Beautiful golden Buddha statues and paintings, real pieces of art. Small market with clothes and drinks.
Inside this beautiful 200 yr old wooden monastery, built on stilts .. houses an impressive collection of Buddha images respectively in Shan, Tibetan, Bagan, and Inwa style.
Nice Place...Innlay Zone.
Cute vegetarian cats. Peaceful monastery.
Beautiful, tranquil place with amazing metalwork. A pleasant change from the hustling at other stops on the lake :-)
Nga Phe Kyaung MonasteryHistorical, tratational , cultural part of eastern Shane State
Big monastery in this area, I recommend..
Peaceful and lovely place
If you visit Inlay lake, dont miss to go there.
The monastery itself is nice but nothing too extravagant. There is some pretty detailed lattice work, some nice statutes, and a good series of artwork showing the works of the Buddha. There are some cats as well, though not the jumping variety as I had heard mentioned in the past. But the real reason why you absolutely must come here if you’re in Inle is the boat ride to and from the monastery. Snaking your way trough little canals, passing charming stilt houses with real people going about their daily lives, taking in some amazing scenery; this is one situation where the journey itself is better than the destination. If you come to Inle odds are you were planning on doing a boat trip anyways, just make sure your driving includes this in the itinerary first and foremost (especially before all the chintzy shops and hawker stands)
Nice but not great
Just OK. You can just see some local food and other local stuff. And FYI, cats are not jumping anymore.
So called "Jumping cat temple",but the jumping cat is passed away last year. Now, there is another little kitty there, black in colour
Peaceful atmosphere, quiet temple and cute cats.
Beautiful monastery with a real authentic atmosphere. Seems like locals come here to pray, it was interesting and charming to see these fully loaded boats coming with 15 burmeses each.Dont expect to see cats (well yeah there are four or five walking around, but not more). It was a long time ago that the monk used to teach cats to jump in circles. Now, they are just resting near the temple.
Wonderful monastery located in southern Inle lake. The interior of the monastery is home to many beautiful shrines with intricate carvings. The monastery also offers spectacular views of the lake and floating gardens. A very peaceful and serene experience.
Lots of Buddha statues here
If you are arround make a stop. But dont expect any jumping cars any more. There are only a few lasy cats around.
Its a touristic place, but I can imagine that it will be very peaceful without tourists inside.
Elaborate Buddhist monastery in Inle Lake
The day before, famous cos of jumping cats, jump through the bamboo-rings even it is a fire-ring. Now, the cats do not jump, only a few are lying down. But still a nice monastery, a good collection of many ancient and different styles of Buddha statues.
Wooden pagoda with a quiet atmosphere and life of Buddha told in pictures, surrounded by water and tomato plantations on it.

A floating temple with lots of cats.
A big building made of wood on a lake. Nothing more. The inside is plain and theres nothing going on but tourists running into each other as they pretend they are taking good photos of wood.
Used to be way cooler with the jumping cat show, but its still not everyday you can visit a floating monastery.
Quite unique as a "floating" monastery. The tacky souvenir shops slapped on the side are a shame.
Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, Inle Lake.Luckily there is no Jumping cat show anymore. The essence of this temple is a very good collection of Buddha image shrines in different styles.
lot of cats, in the middle of floating gardens
Nice Monastery, we came here hoping to see the jumping cats but did not see it.
Its a nice monastery in the middle of the lake, previously famous because of their jumping cats. Nowadays there are still many cats around, but they dont jump. Still, the temple is nice, and very peaceful inside. Outside there are shops.
I couldnt watch a jumping cat show. But I had underestimated the Buddha statues there before I actually saw them.
A great monastery standing in the Inle Lake. Getting there just after lunch, very beautiful and quite inside. A monk was pacing and thinking alone, really peaceful scene.
