Great place to visit. We hired Robins Nest as a venue for a 90th birthday. Wonderful outlook into the park
MoreA really beautiful place. We loved the eel feeding experience and the perimeter walk.
MoreGreat walks and wildlife. There are also some exhibits and enclosures where you can get up close with native birds.
MoreGreat reserve with plenty of information, parking a shop and small cafe.
Always love coming to visit. The walkways are so beautiful no matter the weather or season. The staff are lovely and the experiences on offer are well worth it.
MoreWhat an amazing asset on our doorstep, wish I, d gone sooner. Lots of things to explore
MoreGreat asset for Kapiti. Beautiful grounds with some rare and wonderful wildlife.
Had an excellent kiwi night encounter here and saw the moreporks, but just depends on your luck on the night. Knowledgeable guide. Great to have minimal separation between you and the kiwi
MoreNice little bushy area just a few minutes drive north of Waikanae. If your looking for a big of nature it is nice and well maintained especially the old track loop through the forest. There are a lot of birds to be heard. There are a few averies near the start with quite a few Tutara. A lot of ducks and lawns for a good picnic area. Friendly welcoming staff.
MoreI love this place. The native lizards and birds, the stick insects and eels. Plus all the hundreds of ducks that love to follow you and get fed. The bush walk is always great. You feel as if you are walking back in time and the sounds of the native birds as you walk through is divine. And the little fantails that always dance around you wherever you go are superb company. We found a cute little Tent Sculpture on the top lake that you can see in the picture.
MoreDid not know this gem was there ,our family really enjoyed the day there .easy bush walks and bird life , picnic spots ,little lakes .if you want a relaxing day out with the family .would highly recommend a visit .we will be back
MoreGood walks and some interesting displays (although still a number of enclosures where youre not sure if there are any creatures present). Make sure to bring your own food. friendly staff.
MoreWe had our wedding here, the venue was great, the staff were extra helpful, and the gorgeous native forest made it beautiful. Would also recommend the eel feeding if you want something a bit different in your life.
MoreLovely little gem up the coast featuring preserved coastal swampland on very well maintained, easy walksHighly recommend covering yourself in bug spray at the office (plenty available to use freelyas, once again, it’s a swampStaff were all very friendly and informative, and there’s some nice aviaries with kea, kākā, and other natives—plus lots of geckos!A visit takes about 2 hours at a leisurely pace, so plenty of time to do other Kāpiti area activities
MoreWhat a beautiful place...I want to take my son there to experience all of what nature has to bring us. Hes in love with animals so bad its a must. But at the moment hes on holiday with his mum. We worked there the last couple of weeks and again this week on Tuesday 18th January, clearing the blackberry. Its not to bad once a system is in place to bag it all up. No worries. Looking forward to going back, oh and water is a must people. Cheers!
MoreAbsolutely incredible nature walk. Its almost like walking back in time! Place is thriving with wild life that you can get very up close with. Great staff. Highly recommend everyone in the Wellington region to come out and see this magnificent place!
MoreMy 6 yr old and I went twice this week. We had a lovely relaxed time. It has lots of shady areas for beautiful sunny days. Staff are friendly and informative. My son loved being able to feed the eels.
MoreGreat place to learn and have a family picnic
Visited the kiwis last night, a truly wonderful experience. The guys who took us through were very informative and happy to share their knowledge. A very special evening and fascinating memories of New Zealands special jewels.
MoreNgā Manu nature reserve offers a wonderful NZ native flora and fauna experience and a memorable time with family. Affordable entrance tickets & free tours available.
MoreGreat place to educate kids and adults alike. Enclosures where kaka, kea and weka are in free flight. Can take good close up pictures

MoreWhat a beautiful, serene place to spend a day. Beautifully maintained. Easy walking for all ages. Fantastic picnic areas with a bonus bbq. Staff are cheerful & helpful.
MoreSo tranquil, beautifully laid out walking tracks, with lush, pristine New Zealand native bush. The bird encounters are fantastic (at the time there were some Kaka that could hop close to you). So good to bring your children here, with a chance to feed the huge, old eels.A fantastic place to visit, to support our native reserves and preserve them for future generations.
MoreWhat a wonderful place! Easy access for the disabled with lovely surrounds. The boys really loved watching the eels being fed & trying to spot the geckos. The nocturnal exhibit was marvellous & we really enjoyed our picnic amongst the ducks & their gorgeous pond.Highly recommended
MoreWonderful midweek morning spent at Ngā Manu with my son. Easy to navigate with a buggy, plenty of green space for picnicking & the ducks were a treat to watch for my babe. Worth multiple visits.

MoreGreat place to visit, go for a walk, see the kiwi, tuatara and all sorts of other bird life. Plenty of parking and super friendly staff.
MoreLovely walks. Nice picnic areas. We were a little disappointed in wildlife exhibits tho plenty of ducks, etc. Eels feed time 2pmLots parking. Toilets. Ice cream available.
MorePeaceful and serene; a great way to spend a few hours on a nice day. Great for kids and adults alike
MoreSmall nature reserve with beautiful picnic areas, a short but beautiful forest walk and a selection of bird aviaries. Also you cant forget the very friendly ducks. The enclosures need a bit of updating to maximise the public and animal interaction but will worth a visit.
MoreA really awesome spot and well worth the tiny entry price. Its a nice easy walk and birds of so many species are easy to spot outside of the displays
MoreI love Nga Manu! Fun for the whole family. We spent about 3 hours there last weekend and it was awesome. This place is great value 👍.
MoreI always enjoy visiting Nga Manu. The wildlife there keeps the kids entertained while its mostly the landscaping there that interests me. Nga Manu goes to show what can be achieved with native plants, where there are multiple locations that have a serene beauty to them that is hard to find elsewhere. It reminds me of Otari Wilton Bush which has similar qualities in its spaces.
MoreCute park with many bird enclosures and sightseeing opportunities. Their Kiwi bird enclosure is amazing, windows from 2 opposite sides and if the bird decides to go for a walk, its light enough for you to actually see it (which is not something you can say about many places). The forest walk is easy and nice. Theres many picnic tables and even a decent barbecue area you can hire.
MoreThis is such a beautiful place and the bird life is amazing. A must see for tourists and kiwis alike. Take the kids and have a picnic.
More5 stars all round, perfect place to chill with the kids for an afternoon, great how close you can get to the birds
MoreGreat place for a day trip, pack a picnic and take the kids 👌
Beautiful peaceful place to visit with lots of native flora and fauna. Well worth a visit, picnic and child friendly.
MoreHad a great afternoon here with 4 grandchildren. So nice to be able to sit in the aviaries and have the birds flying over you and to get photos of them without wire in the photos. Enjoyed seeing the eels get fed and learned a lot about them. Kids loved feeding the ducks. Tui sounds echoed round you as you walked through the bush. Reasonable price for entry and for a snack afterwards. Well be back.
Morewonderful family fun -- excellent environment for the birds and wildlife. Great staff & interactive displays
MoreBeautiful place for the family. Both kids and adults loved it!
Visited today and had a lovely time. The reserve has a lovely community feeling and this is reflected with the helpful staff and volunteers. Highly recommend buying a few bags of duck feed and spending times around the lake feeding the wildlife. The kiwi nocturnal area is very interesting and we were lucky to witness 2 kiwis foraging. We also enjoyed the talk and viewing at 2pm of the eels. We were also really lucky to see the release of some “Theo” ducklings into a new area with a pond. The bush walk and all paths throughout are all wheel chair and pushchair friendly. Highly recommend a visit to support this lovely little reserve. Well done to all the staff and volunteers, your doing a great job!
MoreAwesome place. Great place to take the kids, took my 3 year old and 10 month old and they were both kept entertained the entire time. The bush walk is very peaceful and the birds and eels love a good feed
MoreSuch a beautiful reserve loved the walks, scenery, enclosures especially the nocturnal enclosure getting to see the kiwi up and about. Amazing, friendly staff too. Will definitely be going back.
MoreWhat a relaxing place really enjoyed the bush walk and very good pricing. A treasure.
MoreGreat nature reserve with plenty of native bird life. Nice place to go and relax
Lovely walks, space top enjoy nature and wildlife, great for a picnic. Lots to explore for the kiddies. Will return again, looking forward to seeing the new kiwi enclosure being developed. Beautiful scenery, well maintained and very peaceful.
MoreGood fun to meet nz native birds and reptiles. Some cheeky birds are even playing with you. :I even saw a kiwi bird which was energetically moving around.Wide place to do picnic and bbq facilities also provided.Quiet calm bush walk also guaranteed.Small gift shop prices are reasonable and have a ‘Kapiti’ ice block after walk was great too.
MoreVery family-friendly. Birds for Africa (friendly & clearly well fed), eel feeding was really interesting & a highlight for the kids. Nice, easy native bush walk (about 30 minute round trip, gentle stroll. Bring your mozzie repellent though.). Didnt see the nocturnal enclosure this time. Something to look forward to next time.
