I am a direct descendant of the Leslie Brothers, through my Mother, my Mother brought me here for my Birthday years ago, I would like to know why this is closed temporarily? Please, I would also like to know whom to speak with regarding this beautiful Historical home. Thank you Mrs. Tonianne O’Brien.

Newstead HouseAccording to history, this house was built in 1846 located On the northern bank of the Brisbane River at Breakfast Creek. It is the oldest surviving home in Brisbane. What a beautiful place, did not get inside because it was closed but the outside gardens were beautiful. One of the oldest standing residential houses of Brisbane. Even said to have a ghost of a nanny that worked there.

A lovely park, with interesting features, beautifully maintained and right by the river. We had a picnic lunch by the river, played croquet, and got caught in a sun-shower late afternoon. A beautiful spot to visit overall.

Newstead House was the residence of Govenor in past times. It has ben restored to its former glory. The decor is colonial as is the furniture. There is a fantastic view of the river and surroundings. We had very lovely lady as our guide, sh ws very knowledgeable of th house and its history. It is definitely orth a visit. I am sorry but I cannot remembr our guides name. She was an absolutely lovely lady and gave as much time to my family a we reuired to see the house n contents. She even took us to th lower ground floor, which containe the kitchen and pantry. We had a great time being shown round.

It was a fun visit, although our volunteer guide could have been better trained. Without a free guided tour (limited times offered), the entry fee is quite expensive. Parking was easy and the gardens enjoyable.

Beautiful location on a bend in the river giving expansive views. Great spot for a picnic (or a wedding!with lush grassy areas, shaded areas, easy to get to by bike. Some limited parking nearby. The House is definitely worth visiting. Make sure you join in on a tour with a volunteer guide. There’s some really interesting history with significant visitors along the way. Look out for the ‘Lucinda’ chair - it’s providence is linked to Australia’s Constitution!

Beautiful area and park, have yet to visit the museum but theres bans, food trucks most weekends. Wish they didnt force the food trucks to run on generators though, kinda wrecks what the band is going...

The parks and gardens around newstead house make it a great place to relax. We often go and park and then walk down to the point. You can see both up and down the river. We usually collect a coffee from somewhere in the area at a takeaway and go up and drink it.

Had a pork belly sandwich. it was nice. The place was clean and friendly staff but it needs some cool atmosphere maybe live music or a dj with some chill out tunes. Would i go back? probably not. It does not have a "wow" factor.

Nice park by the river and all these cool night light features. It feels a bit quiet though at night so best not to go alone. Otherwise during the day it is very family friendly and a very open park but it fills up pretty fast on a weekend picnic scene

This place is spooky, great deal of history standing on a corner block mostly surrounded by the beautiful brisbane river . A Museum must see . How life was like for the convicts their harsh treatment. 1846 it was first built and still standing almost 200 hundred years later. Furniture and decor the highlights inside, most awesome garden to sit and relax.

Good small park to come and enjoy the river. There are a few tables but no bbq, excellent spot for picnics. Sunsets are great and normally with a nice breeze from the coast. Pedestrian/bikeway are at both ends connecting the park to Hamilton or to the city and toowong. No Citycycle station available.

Newstead house has a lot of history about the the house and the grounds. The grounds are immaculate and perfect which I think is very good. Inside the house their is a lot of history to get your head around but how the house is setup it is perfect. The house and grounds are beautiful in every way. But their is only one problem their is not enough parking and even when their is the driveway is too small and it is hard to park and if you park on the street you have to pay😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩. Other than that the grounds are immaculate and they are beautiful. Good job keeping the grounds beautiful you should be proud😊😊

Lovely old historic building surrounded by equally impressive grounds. Opposite the well known Breakfast Creek Hotel. We decided not to enter the building owing to the surprising entree fee. Is this fee another consequence of continuing governments attempts at cost reductions? Come on Queensland, open your buildings to the public free of charge.

Restored colonial era house which is now a museum offering guided tours. It gives an interesting insight into Brisbane history and settler life, as well as acknowledging the impact of settlement on the indigenous people. Original period furnishing. Located in a park on the banks of the Brisbane river.

Newstead House is a gem for a tour of an iconic historical house. Learn about the history of Brisbane through the people who lived there. Book a public tour on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Great gardens and historic park right on Brisbane River. Worth a picnic or visit just for the views.

A lovey riverside location for a picnic, a breezy walk or some fitness if youre a local. Occasional events like Food Trucks & Jazz are also a treat. The house itself is probably not worth the trip if you are just sightseeing.

Very nice place for a walk or laying around. Was looking for a BBQ place but found none. Good for picnic. Got a big chess board to play (need the key from the house staff). The features are spread out so can host multiple groups. Some groups might not get shades however.
