Newcastle Wood in Ros Comain
Description
Privilege
Calm serenity with river water and a trail to walk. Some fishing is allowed at various times of the year. The trail is just behind CenterParcs and the Moyvore road leads to same. Its a good place for family stop with wood tables and chair provided. Some of the woods are named so maybe this is your chance to own a wood in the forest.

Lots of picnic areas. Go early as there is not a whole lot of parking available. Definitely worth a visit.

MoreGood trip
Beautiful walks and gorgeous landscape. The forest is so lush, verdant, and dense. The moss carpeting the ground creates an eerie tranquility.
MoreBeautiful place in every season. Nice walks as long as 8km on smooth path. Can be very busy place due to CetralParks. Close to Ballymahon town.No play ground there. There is path that leads to Royal Canal. Can make your walk a long one.

MoreLovely place to bring the family for a walk, parking can be at a premium, lovely fast flowing river to fish, canoe and kayak. The walk around the park can bring you onto the canal, just follow the map at the white bridge. 90% of the walk is gravel path which is suitable for kids bikes, strollers and wheelchairs. The other 10% are very walkable paths. On the walk you should spot red squirrels, deer, stouts, hare, red foxes, hedgehogs, and a few birds of prey screeching high over head. A few minutes from the town of Ballymahon.

Lovely place for a walk. If your into picnics this is the perfect spot. Loads of areas to get set up. Little fairy houses on the trees for children to find.
MoreQuiet riverside walk through woodland. The walk can bring you from the river Inny to the Royal canal near Abbeyshrule.
MoreStill an amazing place for a walk/cycle even if Center Parcs have taken a massive chunk away.I walked my dogs out there almost everyday for over 10 years and know the place inside out. Not living nearby anymore but I get up there any chance I can.
MoreGreat place to walk, finally Co. Longford has one proper park.
Absolutely lovely walk
Loved it. Plenty of different lengths of walk. Perfect for bringing your pet for a walk. An hidden gem in co westmeath.
MoreBeautiful walk for the whole family. The woods are lovely & the river at the end of the walk was really nice to relax at. Had to wait for a parking spot as theres not a lot of spaces at this popular site. I feel it could be better mapped out with little signs showing the different loops & how many kms. We enjoyed the long walk around the Centre Parcs site (took about 90 minutesbut found ourselves having to walk the last 15 minutes on the roadside which wasnt ideal with 2 children. Definitely worth a visit!
MoreBeautiful woodland trails with picnic benches linking up with the Royal Canal Greenway and Center Parcs Ireland Longford Forest. Running along the river Inny where you can bring your own equipment and go kayaking. Overlooked by Newcastle House. The Royal Canal runs from Richmond Harbour in Clondra to Dublin. This trail brings you directly onto the trail along the canal.
MoreLovely quiet forest trail with a Red Squirrels if you keep an eye out.
Fantastic walk through woods and along a river. Kids loved finding raspberries to munch on as we walked. We even spotted an otter on the far river bank.
MoreBeautiful scenery and beautiful Inny River and New Foot Bridge to cross and walk the permiter of Centre Parks
MoreAn awesome quiet place to have a walk or just enjoy the wilderness.
Lovely place to have a stroll and be one with nature. Its a really beautiful place to see. You could walk for miles.. there is benches there beside the parking so a picnic could be organised. More signage on the trails would be better for people who have just come there first time as its easy to get lost in the woods etc.. well worth a trip though
MoreBeautiful forest with loads of wildlife plants and looked walks beside the river
