Historic 16th-century fortified Venetian castle offering city & ocean views.
views are stunning, would benefit from some information boards or a guide book so you can learn about its history and where to actually go. Seems alot of it is in accessible to the public. better off going to the old fort.
An easy wander round. Views over Port and to Fort. Good to compare the new and old forts. Toilets available at Entrance
Stunning views of the old town. Well worth a visit. Could do with some information boards and admission is now €5
Its OK, not much information about the history. Great views
Good views from the top. A little underwhelming as a whole. They started charging on Sept 16th, but we visited for free prior to.
Very interesting place which is really large with a nice view.Flaws:There are no signs that would tell you anything about this place. You can not visit the main building of the fortress, just fortifications.
Really nice place with a beautiful view
Wonderful view over all of Corfu. Depending which side and where you are. Magnificent view over old town from the outlook. Free entry as of now.
Definitely worth a visit , the views across Corfu Town, from the highest point you can access in the fortress, are magnificent, and its free to explore 😀
Fabulous fortress. We had a job to find the entrance as we could see no signs and google maps let us down. Best to use the what three words app and enter rockets.glaze.highs this will take you to the beginning of the steep walk to the top. Really interesting but would be great to have some information boards.
Meh. Not as nice as the byzantine fortress. Views are ok but theres really nothing inside.
Worth visiting!
Fantastic views... Been closed for many year to the public but now operating...a must visit with a camera
The New Fortress of Corfu stands opposite the Old one on the other side of old town, which is spread between them. It was also built by the Venetians, but later, during the 17 and 18 c.The fortress looks impressive with very massive walls and fortifications and is free to visit without an entry fee. However, the working hours are very odd, as it is open only until 3PM.
Great place, beautiful views
Beautiful place. Free entrance. beautiful view and architecture. It is not reachable by car but there is big parking near.
Great place to visit. Entrance is free and the view from the top is absolutely awesome.
Unfortunately is not available to be visited at this year.Beautiful view from up there too!
Free entry. Nice view
Amazing views over the old town, definitely worth the visit
Awesome place! Its a must if you visit Corfu. The entry is free and you have a great view of the town if you climb to the top. When is very warm outside, here you can find some shade so you can cool down. I totally recommend visiting this awesome place at least one time. Also great spot for taking pictures.
It’s old but it is interesting. After 10 days here, in Corfu, I want to come back:)
Amazing views, free entry and a free toilet, what more could you ask for?
Nice fortress, great views are unfolding from the top.
Great castle to visit with free entrance. Was not too crowded and allowed great views of the City.
Perfect sightseeing place for Old port and all Corfu. The toilets are near entrance
Quite a climb to get up to the Fort, but well worth it for great views of Corfu Town and Port.
A great place to visit, entrance is free and the views over Corfu town are magnificent
It is worth the visit. Free entrance and not very hard to get to the top. The views are breathtaking!
I had a wander around the grounds early May 2022..... Fantastic views across Corfu Town and beyond. No entrance fee, very clean and interesting architecture.
While its nice to walk around, there are no signs or anything explaining the history of it which would have been nice. View is good though of Corfu town
Old one
Forftress was closed in spite of information on the web. Entrance is not well marked and offers no information as of why the place is closed or when it will open. Poor tourist service, you shall probably head elsewhere where the sights are better communicated and accessable. A shameful example of poor management and neglected tourist service for what appears to be a remarkable structure that would be worthy a visit.
2022! Yes, finally it is open to the public and free of charge!!!! Magnificent and peaceful views of the old town, the old fortress, the port. It is like a game of thrones fortress. The only bad thing is that the upper level is not open to visitors. Enjoy it and dont leave any garbage. Check the pictures below! Since 2021 opened again its gates! If the weather is sunny get a bottle of water, you will need it!2019! Beautiful from outside.. Unfortunately it is closed, I dont know for how long, so I couldnt appreciate its inside beauty.
Well worth a visit views are Fabulous
Old Venetian Fortress, and just that. There is really not much to do or information to read. I guess there could be some more information on the fortress, like construction time, the links between greeks and venetians etc.The view of the city is really nice from up top and there are also some cool tunnels which act as natural air conditioning on a hot day. Take water with you!
It offers a stunning view of the citys old town, so its definitely worth a visit. I was a bit disappointed because the fortress looked more attractive from a distance, but still it has a lot to offer. Its not difficult to reach and the entrance is free of charge ( for the old fortress you have to pay an entrance fee).
It is a must, very nice city view, free entry.
A place you shoud you visit when in Corfu. Living history!
Nice view of the. Free entry
The entrance was free, and the place is opened every day expect from Tuesday (at least at the moment it says it that way, October 2020).Tje place is clean, quite well maintained, and one needs between half an hour and an hour to explore it walking slowly. You have a speactacular view on Corfu Town from the top.
Short walk inside the fortress, no entrance fee at the time. Very nice views of Kerkyra. Worth the visit. Market with fresh local products nearby.
There are multiple ways to reach the entrance and some of them are wheelchair friendly. The fortress is wheelchair viewable but some passages are very narrow but luckily you can go around. When entering fortress ground there’s a public bathroom but it’s out of order. Thanks to covid and low to none maintenance a few areas are prohibited to enter and are closed. The top of the fortress cannot be reached by the main public. There are plenty of nice locations to snap a few pictures of Corfu town and the close by island across the town.At various locations ( in & out the sunthere are benches to have some water and catch a breath. When walking at an average speed and picture breaks you can cover all the ground in 20/25 minutes.Outside the fortress area there’s plenty of parking, when you get closer to the entrance the parking is based on luck and you have to be creative.I give it a three star because in a way the attention is directed towards the view of the old town and the fortress is not being put on the spotlight.I think it would be great experience if they open during the evening and light out some walls and such.
Friday 25th October 12pm. Walked all the way up the steep steps only to find the attraction is “temporarily closed” with no other information how long it was closed for or what the opening hours was 🥺
This is a great site to visit while youre in Corfu. There are many steps, and it will likely be warm, but you can get a cold drink at the sailing club or the cafe at the mid level. The latter also had slushies! The church at the base is spectacular up close, and the light house at the top is with the trek to the top. There is also a geocache hidden inside, so you can try to find that!
Ticket was 6€. Experience is well worth the money. You get a great view and a exciting story.Recommend visiting in the morning.
If you are in corfu you definitely have to visit the fortress. Its time consuming and a long walk up but its worth every single bit. The view is on of a kind. You can see over half of corfu and get an amazing view of the harbour. There is small restaurant which is nice and the owners are friendly. If youre into History you can visit the museum as well. Take your time and enjoy the experience.
Corfu is known as “the green island “ because of its 3 million olive trees and flower-strewn countryside. The island of Corfu is located just off the West coast of Greece. Corfu enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate along with excellent beaches making it a popular destination for all kinds of travelers on holiday.
The entire fortress is a very nice place to walk and have a good time. Besides some interesting canons and big walls there are not many impressive historical remnants. But the views are fantastic, the sea is all around, the sunsets are unforgettable, and there are many young people giving it a nice vibe
The walk to the top is amazing, full of history, with views from all around the place.
