New Town Hall in Hannover

Beautiful place , nice lake and picnic spot. You can go up to the veiwing gallary , with an elevator. This is a slanting elevator and you can have the full view of hannover from the top of it. This is a must see place in Hannover

Beautiful architecture. Don’t miss the balcony of the Ratsstube. Miniature models of Hannover in Medieval times, before and after the war, and now are in the main hall. These are very striking and well done. This is worth a trip. By bike or on foot is best.

In every angle, this city hall will always deliver a photo perfect view. You can go inside and explore this architecture or go wander outside and walk around the mini lake. During summer, you will see a lot of people enjoying their time having picnic on the garden or chit chatting with their friends and loved ones.

Nothing to do there besides Annie the nice architecture and see the exhibit of how Hannover looked before and after the war

Paying the ticket for the elevator to the top is worth it. Great view of the Maschsee and the city.

One of the few good places to visit in Hannover.The entrance to the building is free but it is closed on weekends.The building itself is very beautiful and a nice instagramable spot 😉. I did not find it very crowded. You have an option to have a city view from the top as well.

Beautiful architecture of the townhall. Its a must see in Hannover. There is a beautiful small lake behind it. One can have the best view of Hannover from the top of the townhall.

Really nice building

A great place … the central hall was pointed out to us buy a member of the tourist information. He also recommended a book The Red Thread . Which then had us on a tourist route , great help and well worth the 3€.The main reason for visit was to ascend the (not straight)lift to the top of the tower , absolutely fantastic and views were as you would expect perfect.

It is a city hall and was opened 1913, after having been under construction for 12 years. It is a wonderfull, castle-like building of the era of Wilhelm II in eclectic style at the southern edge of the inner city.

It’s a beautiful building with beautiful architecture, taking a life to go to top of the building is must experience as it’s a inclined travel trajectory of the lift and it’s one of the rarest among in whole world, The view of machsee lake is beautiful from top.

This is a MUST in your list of places to visit in Hannover.Unfortunately the access to the terrace and the 360 Panasonic view is currently unavailable because of COVID.The entrance to the hall is free and you will get surprised by some city representations (after the war, back in the earliest 20s, currently..). Its a beautiful visit.

Beautiful town hall with lovely scale models in the main hall. Shame large parts of it were closed due to covid. Will visit for sure when allowed to look around more.

Nice town hall in the middle of Hannover. Only 100 years old though. There are several 3D models of the city from 4 different time periods. Entry is free, but mostly you can only visit the main hall. Worth a visit, but not too special all in all.

Impressive and worth a visit as a tourist! Good to keep in mind (as a touristthat this gigantic building is the City Hall, not the capital of Lowery Saxony or something similar, but the citys Rathaus. Also, nice to walk around the back along the pond to Maschsee.

The best view in the House with the worlds second largest curved elevator just behind the Eiffel Tower. It is an amazing experience with a lot of history!

This building looks like a fairy-tail castle, not like a town hall. Very beautiful architecture.There is an observation deck on the dome of the New Town Hall. Tickets can be bought in the hall of the building (3.5e). There is a special elevator inside the dome to get to the observation deck. Views of the city and lake from above are amazing.Also behind the town hall there is a very nice park with a pond - a great place for relaxing walk. There were many ducks on the pond and water lilies.

It is a very calm and quiet place. I had a very peaceful and nature-time in the back courtyard of the New Town Hall. I love to spend my evening there as it gives so much fresh air and refreshments.

Excellent aerial view. Its only few euros to get to the top and definitely worth climbing. The lift that takes you top is see-through and is amazing.

Nice old town hall that is open to the public to explore at their own pace. Very picturesque inside and feels like a castle from a Disney movie. Has very interesting models of the town throughout the years. Unfortunately the tower climb was not open due to the time of year (winterbut I imagine that this would give a very cool view of the town. Well worth a visit if youre in hannover.

Beautiful building with some very good displays of Hanover pre and post war, as well as what the city looks like now. The inside is very grand and ornate. Well worth a visit when youre in town. The area surrounding the new town hall is neat and the views from the top floor are nice. The viewing tower isnt open during winter, but opens again at the end of march. Entry is free, and you are welcome to explore the building at your own pace.

The Neues Rathaus or New City Hall is a magnificent castle like building. Built in 1913, but rebuilt after being heavily damaged in World War Two. The building is an amazing eclectic style of Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Gothic, Romanticism with the interiors heavily inspired by Classicism. Entry into the town hall is free and you should definitely make the time to do so. The ground floor has four wonderful models of Hanover over the ages and the Baroque staircases are exceptionally romantic surrounded by classical features.This building is so special its a popular sport for wedding photos. There were three on the day I visited!

Amazing building extracted from the pages of our childhood tales. The small lake in front of it gives it magic. Inside there is a small museum with mock-ups of the city. Finally, anyone can ride a lift ticket to the top and get a panoramic view of the city.

Hannover town hall was a surprisingly nice stop between some museums near by to it and to the city centre. The surrounding area has a nice walking path, small pond and overall a pleasant atmosphere altogether.Going inside the town hall is free and you can go up-to the third floor as you like. Most rooms are for official use so was locked but it was fun exploring those corridors and walking around the entire building .Not a place to highly highly recommend but yes, please do drop by if you have some time.This place isn’t open on weekends so weekdays are your best bet.

It is a magnificent, castle-like building of the era of Wilhelm II in eclectic style at the southern edge of the inner city (outside of the historic city centre of Hanover).The building is embedded in the 10 hectare Maschpark. The Old Town Hall is no longer used as the main seat of administration, but houses businesses and the registry office.The dome of the New Town Hall, with its observation platform, is 97.73 m high.The domes lift is unique in Europe, with its arched course (parabolic, following the shape of the dome). It is often incorrectly described as a sloping lift up the dome and compared with the lifts in the Eiffel Tower, which actually only travel diagonally, without changing their angle of inclination.The lift climbs the 50 m shaft at an angle of up to 17° to the gallery of the dome, where the Harz mountain range can be seen when visibility is good. In the process, the lift moves over 10 m. During the trip, the two weight-bearing cables wind up on three double rolls in the wall of the shaft.

This is one of the best town halls I have seen in Germany till date. Its huge and marvelous. Inside there are all official rooms just like any other town hall and in the centre there are 4 awesome replicas of Hannover city over different time periods. Theres also some arrangement to go to the top, but because of time constraints, I wasnt able to go there. The back side of the town hall is picturesque with a small lake and greenery. Theres a garden where people come for a walk or chit chat. Great place to visit.

Beautiful place. A good venue for wedding photos apparently, lots of couples getting married and taking photoshoots here around the lake and in the park.

The impressive building is free to visit. It’s nicely situated in a park, near to the Maschsee and several museums. Inside there are some interesting models of Hannover before and after the WWII bombing. For part of the year it’s possible (for a feeto ride a unique parabolic lift up the dome to a viewing platform.

Tremendous looking building, somewhat out of proportion given the size of Hannover as a city. But thats what you get when British royal family have roots in your city.Its free to enter, and interior is equally amazing, with great miniatures how city looked and developed during the history.Highly recommended.

One is free to enter the New Town Hall and roam its room s as much as they want. The main hall and staircase look exceptional.For a ~4 fee one can be taken by the elevator to the observation deck. As elevator is quite small and quite slow, it might take a long time before your queie comes. The view from the observation deck is great, tho.

One of the highlights of Hannover is the Neues Rathaus or New Town Hall in English. This magnificent building has a beautiful backdrop of water and gardens worth visiting it also has a sweeping forecourt leading up to the entrance steps. Once in side you can ride the elevator to the top of the town hall and climb a few stairs to a panoramic viewing area and take in amazing views of all of Hannover and as far as the eye or your camera lens can see. Not to be missed for lovers of architecture and photography lovers alike. Simply breathtaking.
