New Delhi Indian Restaurant - Indian restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Food was terrible , meat was so tough i bent the heavy guaged spoon trying to cut it. Could not chew the meat . Also brought the wrong drink. Wont return ever
Really Great food . Mr Suresh is very good . I give 5 ⭐
Good place for people to try out indian meal
Very kind and pleasant staff. Food arrived very fast and was hot. Nice and quiet on a rainy afternoon in mid July 2022, with no disturbing TV or music. Its about 50 ft from Zoe. Very relaxed with the doors open and a breeze coming through. We didnt see any pests or bugs.Very clean place with immaculately clean tablecloths, simple, sturdy wooden chairs as furniture, polished floor...they obviously take care of the place. All the food was spiced as we asked we had aloo Chaat garlic naan, vegetable biryani.Again the staff was really pleasant and this is a great place to eat Indian food.I dont know what its like at night but in the afternoon on a Thursday it was just a nice quiet day in Thailand, dining from New Delhi recipes. We look forward to coming back here.
This is the place you are looking. There is some other place that claims to be the best in town but they’re not, this is! The food is awesome cooked to order how you like it. Good portion sizes and good prices. I’m a Brit, I know my Indian food 👍👍
Nice staff and mediocre and overpriced indian food (tasty, but strangely tomatoey). Couldnt find a reason to justify the bill, other than being central and close to tourists.
The worst Mutton biryani (with egg 🤮I have ever had in my life!! TERRIBLE!!
Bumped into this Indian restaurant as we were looking for something to eat before heading to the Sunday night market. It was a good surprise as the food was very good. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp Curry, Naan, and fried rice. It was my first Indian meal in Chiangmai after several visit to this Northern city and will definitely come back again.
They have just reopened! It’s a really nice place with home made Indian food and the owner is super friendly. I recommend this restaurant!
Ordered off food panada and what came was hardly edible. The buttered chicken was somehow utterly flavorless tomato goop with chicken that was like rubber. Im fairly convinced they just dropped some old frozen chicken into some old tomato sauce and sent it on its way. The rice was okay. Didnt try the nan
Not very tasty, higher than you would expect price, small potions. Just mediocre. Fast service yes. But there are dozens of other option for really great Indian food here in Chaing Mai. Don’t misspend your time here. Just as a disclaimer... I only had one thing on the menu and it was the chicken vindaloo. I order hot hot and it was bland. For Christ’s sake I’m not english I want the heat. Also the sauce just tasted like generic tomato sauce. I’m not going there again....do what you will.
The food was really good but the service was not. They messed up our order 3 times in one meal, and then charged us for their mistakes. The food was so good Im still giving it 4 stars. But man do they need to improve customer service!
Best Indian food Ive ever had. Everything seemed home made. And the service was excellent! Wish I could take the restaurant back home to the US with me.
Nice food and tasty, where you can select the grade of spicy you enjoy
The portions were really small. Indian food is always cooked hot and fresh, and we got precooked food. The taste was really average. The biryani was not a biryani but some weird rice with hard chicken in it. The prices were really high for bad quality of food.
Wait tooooo loooooong time. Just a, tourist restaurant with normal taste. Nothing special
The rating is for the prices, not the quality of the food. If this place were 30% less expensive, Id give it 4 stars for sure. Its decent Indian food... but in the same way that Thai curries arent as bold and fragrant outside of Thailand, these Indian dishes lack a bit of boldness and depth. Been here twice -- I tried the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Jeera rice, and Butter Chicken. The garlic naan is delicious!
Expensive and not really delicious.I ordered a couple of dishes here and was quite disappointed. Having lived in India for a while, I can say that this is nowhere near to authentic food. The portions are very small as well.
Distance makes heart grow fonder! Thats the disclaimer Id like to start with. So this rating is for being able to eat Indian food in Chiang Mai, and not on the independent merits of New Delhi restaurant. But all said and done, it serves decent fare at okayish prices. Service was also quick. However, one wishes there was better ventilation or A/C.
I just ordered butter chicken and tikka masala from here on food panda. It dont look like much but this stuff is BOMB!!!I will totally get it again!
This is hard to say, but how can an Indian restaurant go all wrong in flavor having one of the most flavorful cuisines worldwide, if not the most? Well, here we have a winner. Bland. Unimpressive. Chicken tandoori had no taste. Yellow rice, recommended by the waiter, was unsalted so had no taste either. The chick pea chala was ok, I guess. The only thing that was above par was the naan, but just. Ordered garlic naan and had no taste of garlic. Don’t go!!! Don’t waste your money. The place is steep charging an additional 10+5% (tax and serviceon listed prices.
Very tasty food, happy to accommodate for vegetarian, vegan and Jane. Food is served quickly and is very tasty and not greasy at all. Portion sizes are good and it is excellent value. Hidden gem. Unfortunately my Thai is basically non existant but the staff were helpful and had an English speaker to assist.
Authentic Indian Food Near the Night Life District of Chiang MaiJust off the main strip of bars in the night life part of Chiang Mai, New Delhi Indian Food offers authentic tastes from India. The portions are sizable, and the pricing is adequate, albeit a bit higher than other restaurants around. If staying for an extended period of time, it is worth a visit. If only in Chiang Mai for a few meals, focus on other Thai restaurants in the area. Overall, Im glad we went!
Ants on the table, they got us the wrong drink, food took forever to make, my straw was dirty (black stains on it), there are fans blowing directly to your face and the table was not properly clean... would not reccomend eating here. However the staff/owners are really nice.
We really enjoyed the butter chicken and the chicken vindaloo. Naan is nice and crispy and chewy. Would come back.
Absolutely wonderful flavors, fun dishware. I had the mutton korma, very rich good meat, I just wish I could have more. It is a little more expensive than the rest of the area, but a good break from Thai food. Enjoy:)
Delicious Vegeterian North Indian FoodThe dishes are authentic and tasty. The location is convenient.Ambience is family friendly. The staff are kind and helpful.Dishes are served piping hot.Prices are bit on the high side compared to other restaurants, but I guess that is the price you pay for good food :)
New Delhi offers by far the best Indian food in Chiang Mai. Ive been living here for over 8 years and tried most Indian restaurants and this one takes the title. Incredibly tasty and friendly service at a fair price. Great choice for vegetarians/vegans as well (I dont usually eat vegetarian food but its a great choice here). Cant recommend it highly enough.
Some of the best Indian food in Chiang Mai. I absolutely love the food here.
Such delicious food, its a shame it takes quite while for service. But the FOOD! Im not a foodie, but after eating here Im thinking of becoming one! The naan was hot & soft and fresh. Other standard menu items were all done perfectly. Great Indian food!
The service wasnt great. The popadoms were horriblle with only 1 sauce which was plain and spicy. The chicken was rubbery with fatty bits. I had a jalfrezi and my girlfriend had a korma - both sauces tasted fishy and nothing like an indian curry. The naan bread was also burnt! Wont be coming here again. If your from England and like a curry there then avoid this place! Very dissapointed after reading the good reviews. On all tables it says if you write online about their restaurant then you get a free beer. I can see now how this has managed to get a high rating.
Had a great meal, one of the best quality and Ive been to a bunch.. with many veggies in the garlic rice which I love. Extremely polite and I appreciate the authentic stainless steel plate, never seen this before in an Indian restaurant. I had the mutton handi.
Absolutely fantastic food. We were the only guests (because low-seasonand the waiter was very nice. His English is excellent. And the food was amazing. We had two Currys, some rice and garlic naan. Everything was perfect. He gave us some advice about which lassi was best. And he was right, the mango lassi was great!
I enjoyed my dishes. Very filling and a nice change. From Thai food. The naan was a good size.
True Indian food, delicious masala and naan. We have been missing Indian food since our stay in Penang and finally found it! Its more expensive than street Thai food but it completely worth it!! If you are a fan of India food, you should definitely go there!!
We ordered a chicken tikka masala & two different breads! The chicken tikka was very flavoursome and the breads fresh, soft and delicious.Would definitely recommend to anyone who fancies an Indian curry whilst in Chiang Mai!!
One of the best Indian dining experienes of my life, and I have eaten quite a bit of Indian food around the world. You do wait a bit longer for your meal than is usual in indian restaurants but the perfect taste full makes up for it!! Definitely visit even if you have only one evening in Chiang Mai. The naan is mesmerizing.
We have been in Thailand for about 5 months and this is one of the best meals Ive had. I got a curry and some naan and it was... it was amazing. We got to naans, two curries, rice and a beer and it was 550 bht. Not overpriced and they could honestly charge more and we would go back. Highly suggest.
Awesome Tikka and Vendaloo. Will definitely go back. Just carefully review your bill and your change.
Good ambience. Super quick service which on a few occasions made us wonder if the item was already prepared ? But food is tasty although I wouldnt say authentic. Lassi is avoidable - tasted more like buttermilk. The rice varieties were good. Vegetable pakoda could have been better. I would rate food at the Taj Mahal marginally better but the New Delhi restaurant scores well on faster service and a larger variety of dishes that are available and not just on the menu. And dont forget to ask for some complimentary onions with chat masala sprinkled over it.
One of few Indian restaurant in Chiang Mai on the walking street. Good Indian food served. Not too overpriced. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Owner is friendly. A lot of people from Western travellers love the food here. Very close to the east gate. If you crave Indian food in North Thailand, this is the place to go.
The food was great, I had malai kofta curry, was superb. The manager was great, he let us byo and managed to fit 10 of us in. Good prices for food with lots of options. Also have a great vegetarian selection which can be made vegan. Out of the 10 of us 8 were super happy with the meal, the only negatives were someones soup was way to spicy and peppery making it inedible and the homemade yoghurt was not fantastic.
We searched for an Indian restaurant with good butter chicken and we found one in Old City. Its near a few other restaurants and pubs. We both ordered butter chicken, one mild and one very spicy. Both came out very delicious and the pricing is great! Around 160 baht for the dish, plus rice or naan
Very tasty indian food. Big plates. Vegetarian options. Good service. Average prices. The location is good, near one of the few clubs that are open late at night. The place itself is big dirty and in need of repairs. If indian food is what you want this place is recommended.
Actually, the food was excellent. The Nan and the rice were outstanding. The main courses, chicken and vegetarian, were also great. Best Indian food weve had north of Bangkok.
I had butter chicken, rice and garlic nan and it was all delicious! The portion sizes were great and i left feeling very full, barely able to move. Better than most currys ive had in the uk. Would recommend
Great authentic food! We had the chance to speak with the owner who has an interesting background in engineering but then decided to open the restaurant to pursue his passion for food and it shows. Were still left with a craving for this after we left. Spicy chicken handi was amazing and garlic naan!!
Very tasty Kadai Paneer!!! Garlic Naan was really large and good!
I ordered chicken tikka masala for 150฿. Reasonable price and it was very tasty. Ill be back.
Authentic (as far as I can tell!), quality Indian food.Served with a smile and a caring waiter who values your patronage.Wish it was cheaper, but Im backpacking, the prices are very reasonable :)
