Museum displaying a locomotive, train cars & model railroads in a converted rail depot.
This museum is a small wonderful place. Very enchanting for all, specially kids.
Lot of nice people, really helped keep my kids entertained. Probably best not to hit this place first when going out for the day with kids, but would definitely be a great place to go last when the kids have used their energy.Lots of cool model trains, whole lot of Thomas stuff, and real train cars and engines that you could go inside of. My sons really enjoyed it, and one of them made multiple laps through all of the train cars that you can go inside of.Definitely recommend
Amazing piece of railroad history and great collection of German trains, posters and more. A real hidden secret and lots of fun for the kids!
Authentic Railroad Train Station. Awesome displays and on site tours of actual rail cars. Worth the trip!
Fantastic very educational & interactive for kids from 2-1/2 to 60. I highly recommend.
We picked up our tubes at the Lions Club, and we could float down the river until 7:30 pm. The water stays 72 degrees no matter how hot the temp gets. Just a perfect plan for a hot sunny day!!! We saw turtles and birds and just had a lovely time!!! 😍
Gun free zone! 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted at entrance. Their business their choice. Our choice was to patronize somewhere else. We walked away without entering. On line says free. The door had a sign for $3 "Donation"
Great experience learning about the train history of new Braunfels good and educational... Good for kids and adults
Historic, awsome and well taken care of property.Highly recommend ❤️
Good for little kids to check out once. Its a photo opp at best. Not worth the drive and parking.
A quaint whistle stop on the historic MoPac line, the New Braunfels station hosts a collection of steam era Railroad cars and an 0-6-0T Porter on static display. The voluteer on duty the day I visited was rightly proud of an HO model Railroad he was operating, and had encyclopedic knowledge of model railroading in general.Im new to Central Texas, and have been a Railroad buff for most of my life. While I never expected to get the full story of the Missouri Pacific Railroad from the station at New Braunfels, the "slice of life" details at this local museum help to fill in the blanks of the story of railroading in this part of the country.
An excellent museum! Splendid model railroads, nicely preserved prototype rolling stock used to display excellent artifacts.
Lot of our history and great experience for kids of all ages.
Fantastic place to visit!! So much history in one place and great fun for the kids!! Made me want to build an train track when I got home. Thank you for the experience!!
Wonderful place! They rent out their dining car for events!!!
Cool little place to visit when discovering New Braunfels. Its really small so u will need maybe 20 to 30 min to see everything. Cool train models. Entrance fee is voluntary so bring some cash with you because u cant pay with card.
My family and i loved this place. The people were so nice, respectful, knowledgeable and helpful. My son is special needs and they were so sweet explaining things to him. Also bring cash they do not take card. They only do donations there. $3 per adult and kids are free. We chose to donate more because thats what keeps them open! Highly recommend.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I took my son there today and most of our experience was nice until one of the elderly volunteers yelled at my two year old for doing exactly what the sign said they could do. If you have an issue bring it up with the parents/guardians in a calm manner. I would have happily obliged had that been the case. I calmly removed my child from the situation and went back to for an apology and to see if they had a good reason for the way they conducted themselves that way and they completely denied the situation. Downright unacceptable behavior during a "kids day" event.
Had a wonderful time learning about the past in New Braunfels
The museum itself is nice. Kids loved the dioramas and exploring the train cars. The judgmental man running the desk the day we went not so much. Another family in our group was ringing the bell outside (like you are ALLOWED toand the man inside made a comment "Oh you are from Houston..." , kept judging the kids like they were going to break something. Dont gate keep your hobbies if you want new fans.
Model railway was super impressive. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved going through the actual train and cars. Great visit.
We had such a great time leisurely exploring. The volunteer staff were wonderful and the older gentleman running the train in the train room was awesome and also told us about other locations across the street that were of great interest to our son who loves trains and rescue vehicles. Can’t wait to go again. Perfect place for short attention spans. 95% Wheelchair and rollator friendly.
Trains! It is free and has a fabulous model railway set. Lots of history here bring the young ones!
My kiddos LOVE trains. Its free but they like donations. Its worth a stop in for sure! Definitely donate something. The model trains running were a hit for our kiddos. The pictures in the diner car were cool. We even had a real train come by and the kiddos were so excited.
A little gem of nostalgia and education. The staff was super nice and helpful. The exhibits are well cared for. There are several large model train layouts to see.
Fun place to learn about some train history.
We were pleasantly surprised with the railroad museum today! The "conductor" was so friendly, kind and knowledgeable! The actual museum had so much more to it than we were expecting.
It was a great place to go visit. It is not very expensive. If you are in a wheel chair some may be harder to access but there are provisions set up.
Lovely little museum. Visited one afternoon over spring break and had the place to ourselves. Kids loved the model train exhibit and the train cars out back. Beware the mannequins.... They are a bit creepy.
Great fun place, self guided can really take your time to learn the history. You can walk through a dining car and climb into a steam locomotive very unique experience.
Wonderful railroad exhibits, including model trains running around and through a model of the New Braunfels area. Great for adults of children of any age.
Awesome place. Lots of old train stuff and they have a running model train display as well. The box car is really cool and has nice displays. Very nice employees too.
Very cool museum to learn New Braunfels history. I really like that in the beginning they gave my son a paper for a scavenger hunt so it helped him stay on task and actually learn a few things in a fun manner.
Had a good conversation with the people that were taken care of the place.I was born in New Braunfels in 1944 so it brought back memories when I was a little boy.
Oh my goodness I cant say enough about one of the staff members Susan. She is the friendliest and kindest last ever! I love the Saturdays for the kids. You cant beat this outing for the kiddos and adults as well. And its free! Dont forget to ring the bell on the big black engine!
Nice older depot with good displays and artifacts. Model train layouts in several locations and scales including HO, N and garden. Excellent Dinning car and caboose. Close to tracks so when the trains go by you can feel the ground shake. Had a pleasant visit with several friendly docents and modelers.
The museum is good. Children like those model trains.
My kids range in age from 11 to 6, but all of them love the train museum. They have special events there once a month to introduce families to the model railroads they have. There are real full size train cars you. An walk through, and even rent for events. The staff is all volunteer and very knowledgeable about trains and their history.
I brought my 2 sons here & they loved it! The staff was very friendly & there was a lot to see. My boys especially liked walking through the different train cars. Were excited to come back for Kids Run The Trains event on the 1st Saturday of the month!
My mom loves trains so this place was a great place to visit. Would recommend to anyone who is a train lover or just likes to make models. And such nice staff.
I had a great time at the Museum and watching the model train display.
Cute little station/museum.Pullman car with historical info and china.Caboose and switcher engine.Inside the station is memorabilia and ticket counter.Live rail line next to station. Watched a triple header freight train with two pushers go by.
Very cool, kid friendly museum for your train/railroad lover. The large train "table" was a hit with my son who just wanted to stair as the replicas went around and around. The old train cars were exciting for him to see and he even got to ring the steam engine bell!
The trains were soooooo cool! The museum had so many cool artifacts, or in other words memorabilia from the trains. Also, there is a HUGE model train set that can be turned on by one of their super kind staff. There is the caboose, dining car, and engine of an old train at the back of the museum. By the way, after asking a staff member for permission, you can even ring the bell in the engine car! It is an AMAZING museum and is a fun place to visit while your driving through New Braunfels AND it is 3 dollars per adult and free for kids! Have fun!
Great little museum, full size locomotive and railroad cars including a dining car and caboose. The men running the museum were very friendly and joyful. A very detailed miniature train exhibit. Souvenirs and train memerobilia for sale. Best of its free, with a $3 suggested donation for adults. They had a room with kids shows on TV with a wooden railway table and kids coloring station. Its located right by actual train tracks so kids can watch the trains go by. Our 5 & 7 year old boys really liked it.
Quite nice free museum. The depot is small, but there are several nice model train displays and also a full-sized dining car and caboose in the back. Great for kids, too. I spent about 20-30 minutes here.
It was a nice couple of hours. The kids loved the model trains and being able to go in all the train cars. There was some pretty interesting history and Larry who worked there was very knowledgeable and nice. I recommend it if you need something to do on an afternoon.
Great place for kids or kids at heart. Amazing model trains, lots of need old antiques and train related things to look at and learn about. Free, but donations requested. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Restroom was immaculate. Easily spend 2 hours to see everything. Highly recommended.
We went to the kids day at the museum. Our children are 3 & 5. They had a wonderful time. The staff were all friendly & very sweet. We would definitely take them again!
These guys LOVE trains!! Free museum, donations welcome. My 10 year old absolutely loved it.
