Neighborhood Cafe in Lee's Summit
Description
Excellent breakfast with complimentary cinnamon rolls! Great service.
How did I keep missing this place? Came here for Sunday brunch. Everything about this place was incredibly amazing. The cinnamon rolls are sweet but not over the top. The rest of the food was perfectly cooked and good portions. Service was stellar. I think I found a new favorite brunch spot. Will definitely be back again!
MoreStaff was friendly but only saw them when they took our order and when the bill was dropped off. Food looked good but my hash browns tasted (and smelledlike the oil was rancid. I couldnt eat it. The cinnamon rolls at the start of the meal were pretty good. Im not sure if Ill go again but if I do, Ill update my review.
MoreIve gone to this restaurant for over 40 years and Ive never had a bad meal. The cinnamon rolls are to die for
MoreLove this little local restaurant! So much local history and the best breakfast around.
MoreNeighborhood is consistently a great place to grab breakfast or brunch favorites. I love that they serve each table warm cinnamon rolls. Yum!
MoreBig tasty portions and free (yes I said freecinnamon rolls. Speedy and polite service. Its the kind of local place where they know the regulars names and are welcoming to the newcomers.
MoreUnfortunately, this local place has truly gone down hill. Once the pinnacle of a local diner with great people, it is now an advertisement-ridden, poor service, stale cinnamon rolls, and a kitchen staff that is very hostile towards fixing any of their mistakes. Very, very sad.
MoreAmazing perfect service and meals. Even better the second time.
1st time visiting. Very friendly staff. Freakin awesome food! Comes in a large amount I was extremely satisfied. Will MOST definitely return.
MoreThe Cinnamon Rolls are always OUTSTANDING and we love all the breakfast skillets. You really cant go wrong with anything here, plus fast, friendly service and your coffee never runs out!
MoreThey apparently are known for their cinnamon rolls that they give you as a free appetizer. This was our first trip there and realized that they have pictures of cinnamon rolls and stuff. So bonus for that. Food was good. Waitress was friendly. Quiet, and cozy. Its a breakfast and lunch place so they close early like 3.
MoreAmandas service was the highlight of this historic joint (be sure to check out the newspapers on the walls!)I think the food may have been better (pre-pandemic - per the locals); yet, youll never go hungry with the generous portions here!TV crew came in for the famous cinnamon rolls while we were there!
MorePatty is an absolutely amazing server, we walked in with short notice and 20+ people and she handled it all by herself! Great food, even better server! You go, Patty
MoreI love going here for breakfast or lunch. I love the small town feel in there and the service is great. Lisa the manger is very active when she is there making sure everyone is getting taken care of. The omelets are my favorite and of course the cinnamon rolls…. They are amazing!
MoreService was great! Food was really good. Reminded me of the diners I used to go to with my great grandparents so it was very nostalgic. My son enjoyed his food and he is very picky so we will definitely be back.
MoreExtremely disappointed!!! After seeing and hearing good things I expected much better. To start out with if you have kids dont bother going they dont have a kids menu. The cinnamon rolls they give you were crazy dry I couldnt eat more than two bites. The kids ordered waffles that were also crazy dry and made it difficult to cut them into pieces and eat. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
MoreThe griddle at neighbors in Lee summit is Seasoned to perfection, Theyre far busier than the neighbors in midtown. So you need to get there early
MoreNever a bad experience. Food is great and staff is awesome.
Visiting!Everyone inside was a repeat customer and now I know why!Food was awesome, atmosphere was warm & friendly, & best of all the service was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. Many places to eat in the KC area but this one I look forward to getting back to another great experience! TRUST ME!
MoreCan’t say enough about this place! Lisa our waitress was so friendly and helpful…great job! The food was amazing! Love the free cinnamon rolls that they give before the meal! And love the atmosphere with the historic new papers on the wall!
MoreFriendly, Professional & fast staffFood was very good. Our server was very attentive & made sure we were satisfied. Definitely recommend going here.
MoreCinnamon rolls are the best. Service is fast and friendly. If youve never been, this is a must try place. Put it on your list. And try the biscuits and gravy. Mmmmmm
MoreExcellent service, delicious food. I think I found my new favorite breakfast spot.
MoreService is good . The food has gone from great to bad .I have gone to neighbors for years and years. Servings were now much smaller and has a Mexican flavor , if I want Mexican food I would go to taco- dell .to bad you ruined a good place to eat.I won’t be back obviously no on cares
MoreWhen the waitress brings you a coffee cup with a gnat on the rim and you have to bring it up to the counter for a fresh cup, you should take the coffee off the bill. Its just good business sense. But between the gnat and the fact that all the waitress wanted to do was push "up charges" on us, it left a bad taste in my mouth-so to speak.
MoreGreat, comfort food breakfast/ lunch venue. Its been here for decades & Ive Not Ever been disappointed with the high quality service and excellent chow.
MoreGreat Cafe. Comfortable. Kid friendly. Hot day and they had the AC cranked. Huge menu at affordable prices. Highly recommended. Fantastic service.
MoreMy Daughter and I went in around 10:30am. Cinnamon rolls(that I normally love)were dried out. They ran out of daily breakfast special. We ordered 1 breakfast burrito, 1 egg over medium with hashbrowns. Took 30 minutes to get our breakfast. Not the best for this place, normally much better.
MoreNormally this place is amazing and worth any wait you might have. However, dont go on Wednesday mornings because whoever is in the kitchen those mornings is terrible. Ordered a breakfast burrito which is normally good sized and comes with gravy but what I got was a taquito missing ingredients and no gravy. Dont want to fault the whole store for a bad cook though.
MoreAmazing spot. Everything I had was great (parfait, egg white burrito, hashbrowns). Melissa our server was fantastic too. Homey atmosphere and not too loud.Go. There.
MoreI have tried eating here about 3 times and after today I’m done. First the waitress was very nice no problem with that but I have never had a hot cup of coffee, always just warm, don’t order bacon crisp because it comes burnt like it did today. When I told our waitress I couldn’t chew it she offered to get me a new serving. It came back just as burnt so I left about 6 slices to be thrown out. We ordered $10.99 plate consisting of small portion of biscuits and gravy, two eggs hash browns and bacon or sausage. I asked if I could get the biscuits and my husband could get toast instead so we could share. She said toast came with it too. Then we were charge separate for the toast. Which we hardly ate. When we got our bill it was over$35 with a tip. It did mention I had to send my bacon back twice, it was burnt then got the second serving just as burnt. Cashier said oh I’m sorry about that. Why should you be charged for something not fit to eat?? Evidently it didn’t matter .
MoreWe were looking for a new breakfast spot and I think we have found one. Its about a 30 minute drive but worth it. The food was good, the sausage gravy could have been a little warmer but all good. Mary was our server, she was great. Brought home the cinnamon rolls for later. We will be back.
MoreLove that they give you a cinnamon roll when youre seated! Food is great but the employees deserve a shout out. Went there today around 1pm. They were kinda busy and apparently short staffed. There was an issue with my order, the server apologized and told me my order was on the house. I refused. Because I knew she was basically doing the work of 2 people since someone else had called in earlier. I could tell she was frustrated and doing the best she could with such a full house. Ill take a meal on the house when the situation calls for it. This one didnt. With the way things are right now I feel its so important to show grace and appreciate the people that are working and trying their best to do what they can. I wish I wouldve gotten her name but I didnt. Anyways, love going here not only for the food but the employees and atmosphere as well! #supportlocal 🙂
MoreNeighborhood Cafe is one of those hidden gems. The moment you walk in you get that old time diner feeling. The wait staff was very welcoming and the service was top-notch. We ordered coffee and placed our order. In a couple of minutes our waitress brought our drinks and 2 hot, fresh cinnamon rolls. I looked at her and said "we didnt order those" and she said, "these are the complimentary". Cinnamon rolls were really, really good. Theyre not too big so they dont fill you up before you have your meal. We both ordered a two egg and bacon breakfast. We both order our eggs cooked differently and Neighborhood Cafe hit it spot on. The bacon was very good the hash browns were crispy on the outside tender moist in the inside and we both had white toast and it was cooked perfectly. This was honestly one of the best breakfast meals weve ever had. If I remember correctly I think we paid about $18 to $19 for the meal and the service was so good I did tip heavily. If youre ever in Lees summit do yourself a favor and please visit Neighborhood Cafe
MoreIve only ate there with door dash. This morning was my first time dining in.... it was so welcoming and warm felt. Like the good ole days. I was greeted with a coffee and a warm homemade cinnamon roll. The food was great. No salt and pepper needed. My coffee never ran empty and my waitress was very polite.
MoreBought the Thanksgiving dinner and it was wonderful! The turkey and ham were tender and delicious, the green beans with bacon were tasty and the corn was great. The gravy was very tasty and brought everything together. There was also great dinner rolls, dressing and their signature cinnamon rolls and the apple pie we opted for - all great and highly recommended!Their staff was busy but efficient and attentive - go for it if have the chance to simplify your holidays!
MoreAt 1 time it was worth the wait for good food now you wait for very sub par food over cooked sausage ..undercooked bacon ..over cooked eggs ..under cooked hash Browns.. The waitress and the cashier asked how my meal was and I let them know my dissatisfaction. I seriously dont think they cared without a sincere response. My last visit to my favorite go to breakfast. Also dont get your hopes up for that delicious cinnamon roll as taste like it came out of the box.
MoreThe food is good its a nice place to go visit if youre in town lots of history and you get free pastry when you come in
MoreIt’s okay breakfast place. It’s feel like old school neighborhood joints. Prices are reasonable. Love free cinnamon rolls.
MoreSolid breakfast diner in a cool downtown setting. Received a complimentary cinnamon roll which was soft, gooey, and delicious especially with my coffee. Solid breakfast burrito, bacon, and hash browns
MoreGood food, cool atmosphere. Apparently its been around for ages. It was cool to see all the old newspapers on the walls. Expect a short wait since every other table is closed because of COVID. I had the Salmon Lox, which was a gamble but worth it. The picture added is at the end of the meal. It came with a full bagel and a side of fresh fruit.
MoreMom & Pop atmosphere. Great food. Free cinnamon rolls with meal!
Do not hesitate to stop in and have a bite to eat, you will be welcomed with a fresh homemade cinnamon roll, wonderful and polite service, this is a place to put on your bucket list of dine-in Homestyle diners oh, do not miss it
MoreWe drove from OP to Lee’s Summit. It was worth it! Great food, friendly service, retro decor and free cinnamon rolls for everyone. Yuh can take a look at historical newspapers in the wall while waiting for your food. The tenderloin was delicious and I recommend the house made chips. My husband hadThe hamburger streak and enjoyed it as well. Large portions with reasonable prices. Also a military discount. Don’t forget a piece of homemade pie. Even after watching the movie The Help the chocolate pie was amazing !! We even took a walk around the red brick town afterwards. Some great local shops. We will be back.
MoreFun vibes, great service, and really good food. Be sure to try the pork belly burnt ends. It is unique, savory, and flavorful. Bottle mimosa are limited to 4 per hour per person, but that’s our customers fault, not the restaurant. It’s still worth the value.
MoreThis is the second time recently, that Ive had their pie and its just not as good as it used to be. The coconut cream pie was very thick and not creamy at all. Almost chunky cake-like. It looked pretty. The service is good as always though.
MoreA free cinnamon roll for each person always is a good thing and they are pretty good cinnamon rolls too. The chicken and biscuits was surprisingly great. The chicken was moist and crispy. The horseradish mustard was very well balanced.
MoreIt’s always a pleasant surprise when you’re greeted with good service and baked goods. The cinnamon roll that was served when we sat down was a great start to a good lunch. We came at 2p and missed the rush, i had the chili which comes loaded and with a great portion of cornbread. My husband got the prime rib burrito (recommended by waitress). We finished with a piece of homemade coconut cream pie, which was great. We always like when you can get an authentic homemade pie versus the frozen ones that most places serve nowadays. This was our first time here and we’ll definitely be back.
MoreGreat, friendly service and atmosphere! Their jalapeno jack double burger is great and huge!!! Itried their sweet tater tots (picturedand they were good as well! Too much food even for a healthy appetite!
