Teen Murti House, Teen Murti Marg, New Delhi, Delhi 110011, India, Delhi
Planetarium at the former residence of India's first Prime Minister, with shows in Hindi & English.
I am not sure of other reviews, but this place is good for nothing and needs a major revamp, does not deserve an overall 4+ rating it is currently at.1. Gallery, 90% + items on display are non functional, broken.2. Sky theatre seats are shabby, broken, noisy, dirty.3. Even though, the show experience is fine at start, the content really needs to be updated, it uses such heavy words, which cannot be comprehended by the kids. They should simplify the content.Do yourself a favor and avoid visiting the place, and if you still happen to reach there somehow, move straight to Pradhanmantri Sangrahalay just beside Nehru Planetarium which is highly recommended place
I think, time has come to wake up and revamp the quality of the whole experience. Seats were very uncomfortable and old. Outside display area is very poorly maintained and displayed. No attendent in the display area. Our great citizens have no dicency to maintain any kind of discipline. Parents are oblivious of the fact that their children are misbehaving and damaging the national property. Security guards are there not to co-operate and guide but to scare people. But, I can understand that they have no other option left to deal with our unruly citizens. The content of the show can be improved drastically. Displays, graphics and images can be more interactive. I am unable to understand why in our country despite having resources, we do not work towards bringing the standard to international level. Apathy...?!Well, if required rise the entry fees. Those who respects their national property would not mind to pay more to get a great experience.
I visited this place 8-9 years ago. At that time every model was working as well as the audio explanation was working.Todays visit here Inside the sky theater, old data or video made many years back is still showcased. You can better explain videos with better graphics on YouTube. All the models are junk, not a signal one is working, no audio explanation. They should charge 10 for children and 20 for the adults. Not recommended till its renovated.
Go with kids its a knowledgable place for them, they will enjoy show.
It was a great experience to visit there and it more favourable for whom is interested in science and technology and all kids.It gives a glimpse of our whole solar system and more and choose youre language wisely 😜.
Great place for kids to know about solar system. It gives a gist of the solar system and details about planets. Show is about 45 min long and informative. You can either buy tickets online or at nehru planetarium.
A must visit place for kids and adults alike. One gets a glimpse of the various concepts that are used in modern day astronomy as well as the history of astronomy. The movie show is the highlight. It is not only an educational, informative show but one of a kind show that gives you a view of the astronomical objects like planets, galaxies, etc like you are watching them live in the night sky right over your head. Worth a visit
The show is good , enjoyable for kids . however given that most likely audience is kids, should have more English shows . Process of booking at the counter is also very archaic.only available half hr before leading to queues
My experience was amazing. Very nice place to visit with family and friends. The planetarium is brimming with information related to space and cosmology which is displayed in the form of splendid sound and visuals, making one feel almost at one with stars. There are regular interactive sessions, art competitions and stellar space equipment on display, making this place a massive hub of tourists.Key points:1. Show timing is different so check timing before going.2. Book tickets online.3. Take food from outside because there is no food service available.
We reached there on Sunday. So the opening time is 11:30 am and the first show starts at sharp 11:30am. If u wish to attend arrive 10 min early. And the ticket can only be provided if u reach there before the show time. Otherwise wait for the next show. First show in in English rest next two shows are in hindi.I would suggest choosing the seat opposite to the entry gate and seat away from the children as if u wish to enjoy without kids commentary. And if you are with kids then there is no option to escape 😂 but please try to make it quiet for others. It was a great experience but I wish hall was more maintained.
Amazing, we booked tickets in advance. It was a Hindi show.
I wanted to explore something different . So me and my friend decided to watch show in nehru planetarium and the show was super amazing . We are not allowed to take food inside .Also there are no cafes near by . Only ice cream vendors were outside .
Very nicely managed place except the seating could improved.
Will recommend that tickets should be pre booked if someone is planning to go over weekend.. There is a long queue to enter the Planetarium on weekend specially Sunday. They are now running a new show and very interesting for kids to know about Solar System and all its planets.
Was anticipating some update. But I feel its been the same since the beginning. There are no new things enhanced to the show. They are demonstrating the same stuff. Things change and develop with time and cope with the new mechanism but this show is not going with time and shows us the same old version of the universe and those are easily available in the present time. Very disappointed. I was expecting much more. Good for the children but not appropriate for adults who want to view the universe from a different point of view.
Nehru Planetarium in New Delhi is situated on the grounds of Teen Murti Bhavan, was residence of India First PM Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and now a museum in his memory. Nehru Planetarium with its aim being the promotion of astronomy education. The Sky Theatre shown at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium are very popular. The sky theatre is a dome shaped theatre. It shows information on constellations and planets. Visuals such as cartoons, paintings, computer animations, video clippings and special effects are liberally used in the programmes at the sky theatre.Do visit try book online has very limited seats. Monday is closed. Limited parking facilities.
Take your childrens there they will learn more interactively..... About the Milky Way🌌
It was nice to be there . 3d movie was amazing there.
Not worth it. Time waste. Quality of planetarium projections were extremely bad.Nehru museum is also not impressive. Overpriced tickets for a third grade museum. Go to National Museum or Science Museum instead.
It was a sheer disappointing experience at the planetarium. Its small; occupies limited number of people; has hard cranky inflexible chairs; has a old SD resolution which projects hazy images compared to your mobile, laptop or TV; and its lame excuse of a museum with non-performing interactive displays, missing models or descriptions and other displays that seem tired overall! If you have just a 40" smart tv, youd do good to play any 4K solar show YouTube videos... The quality of visual experience will be much better. If u hv a 3D TV... even better! Compared to this the one in Kolkata is at least 100times better and more advanced.
Visited this place many times.Monday is off rest other days its open.Counters will open 30 min before the show.Best place for kids to understand and observe our solar system.
Honest and pointed review:- seats are uncomfortable- movie experience is good (however couldve been a little less technical for common people)- no rush on weekdays and weekends but Monday closed- ac are working well- movie is the main attraction... Other things are not too exciting..Overall one time visit
You mainly go there for the sky theather show, which is good, however, the content needs to be updated for pluto not being considered as a planet anymore. Be aware the ticket counter only opens 30min before the show and no eatables are allowed. After the show you are straight out of the building. Overall good experience.
Its a really nice place. Pretty knowledgeable. Theres a lot of information about the universe, planets and all. Theres less rush. The show is of 40mins, for adults the ticket price is Rs. 80. The show timings in English are 11:30am and again at 3:00pm
The planetarium has a small gallery of exhibits relating to astronomy (both related to India, and globally), but you see this only as a preliminary to the main focus of the planetarium, which is the show. The show at the planetarium is in two languages: English at 11.30 AM and 3 PM, and Hindi at 1:30 PM and 4 PM. Tickets for each show cost Rs 80 for an adult, and Rs 50 for a child above 4 years of age. The show is about 40 minutes long, and the ticket counter opens half an hour before the start of the next show.As soon as you’ve bought a ticket, you can enter the planetarium building and spend the time until your show starts looking at the exhibits, which include some interesting information on ancient astronomy, planets, the sun, outer space, and more; an old space suit worn by an Indian astronaut; information about missions to the rest of the solar system; etc.For the show, you go into the Sky Theatre, which is a circular theatre with a high domed roof. Try to get a seat as near the centre as possible; this way, when the show projects onto the sides of the theatre, you won’t be having to crane your neck right around to see what’s happening. The show covers lots of interesting facets about the solar system: its evolution, how mankind has perceived the solar system, how studies and explorations have been carried out, and what facts have been unearthed about other planets, asteroids, comets, etc. It’s informative and visually very striking.
The place was a nice and fun experience. Saw solar system in 3D, definitely something unique. Entry is affordable too and the overall place is also nice and calm. Wish they had food counters here. Anyways, its a nice one time visit
This is a good place to learn about planets, stars, solar system. Space shuttle in which Rakesh Sharma went to space is kept here. There is a movie of35min played to tell about space and solar system its a dome shaped theter and god experience for children. Ticket window open 30min before movie and till that time entry is not allwed. So long queue is there. Other than this there is not much to see.
I visited Nehru Planetarium last sunday with my daughter and the experience was rather disappointing.Tickets were not available online and we had to buy them at the counter. When we reached- the counter was closed and was scheduled to open 30 minutes before the show. There are no arrangements of seating or drinking water, let alone fans. On a humid day, it was very uncomfortable standing in a long queue with a child for over 30 mins. The staff was rather rude and showed no interest in having general public visit the planetarium. The cop present there, along with the entry guard even said to us "andar kuch khaas nahi hai"!Though the movie was interesting- but that was it. A 30 minutes show on old, stinky seats. There is actually nothing to do there. And the toilet was horrible, filthy dirty and stinking. It is not a place worth recommending to anyone.
I really like this place.. if you are interested in astronomy then surely you should go.The show 4:00-4:45 is really aswome 🤩I learnt many things. Dont go in Nehru planetarium is you want to time pass. There is alot of things to learn. Go with your kids, friends, and family. Such a good place for exploring.😊
Please go on Saturday and Sunday! You will know what is Delhi and it is famous for!Fully Delhi feel!Long que for tickets only 160 around tickets/show.Kids must like it.Before planetarium show, you must go to book your tickets for National PM museums in this way you may save some time.National PM museums must visit too! They must need to consider of upgradation of this show!Old structure is here from मुगल time for hunting purpose.Go enjoy
Good learning experience for kids..... Nice depiction of our solar system, with elaborate explanation about formation of our planets... But sometimes get too scientific...
Best place for children but go with online tickets as you have to book at least 1 hr before starting show and there is very less counter tickets available. Therefore, it is better go with online tickets. This place is usually found very crowded on weekends. So better to reach at least 15 min. before starting show even if you have online tickets.
Good for person who have interest in space science and technology

Its a small planetarium, known only for the show. The ticket for adult is 80₹There are four shows in one day and two are in English two in Hindi. The show is good, like a movie and talks about space. It teaches a lot of things about solar system with great visual. Definately take your kids there to learn about solar system, space 🌌🚀 and planets.
Absolutely fantastic & great for kids.In weekends try to reach by 1100 h for 1130 show. I took the tickets with no queue. However for the afternoon show there was a line of 100 people.Try to sit in outer seats if early, the view is fantastic. The exhibition area is also great & informative for kids. Must go place.
The planetarium needs major overhaul to get updated. Though most museums in India need to update. The exhibition gallary has only very few artefacts. Which has loads of text to be read. If I specifically go to a planetarium a planetarium, in this age I would expect some interactive activities and information which is not easily available on internet. The show is also OK OK, a one time watch. The projection is disoriented at times projection being done directly behind your head, which you cant see, and some times cant even notice. Overall information provided is very basic, children watching Discovery or similar channels might be knowing more. However, the experience is good enough for children. At least they can say we visited one of the 5 planetariums in India. Its recommended to buy tickets online beforehand. As there will be long queues at the counter and you may miss getting a slot of the show.Suggestions for planetarium: Please update the contents, with more interactive information and good quality projections. Its not 80s decade that visitors will be ok with reading tons of text and watching a basic show about solar system. That too with disoriented projections.
👍👍 Very well maintained place👍 Helpful staff👍 updated website👍 central Delhi location is best👎👎👎👎👎BIG THUMBS DOWN👎NO PARKING AVAILABLE 👎👎Some not so great things but not dealbreakers👎 old projector so images aren’t sharp👎 the seams on the projected roof are quite visible during the show👎 the garden around is a mess and has room to improve a lot
Excellent value for money. Parking is a problem, come early. Only 1 hr required. Best seating position is on the outside circle. Exhibitions are not so good. But the show is very good specially for kids. You sit on recliner seats and look up.
Very nice place to take kids. The movie show is really very good. Charges 80rs for adults. There are 4 shows in a day 11:30, 1:30, 3 and 4.. one extra show on sundays at 12:30 pm. The only problem is with parking. Very few cars can be parked here
Good clean and informative...picture quality could be better. Outside demo machines totally inoperative. Must go with your kids for their knowledge improvement on our solar system and galaxy and planets. It will help grow interest on these celestial bodies.
One of its kind in delhi. A must visit. The theater show is magical . Kids love it. Long lines of school kids can be seen daily.
Planetarium was ok. Limited parking space.Unlike other planetoriums this is not having many exhibits. Parking space also have EV charging stations.
Nehru planetarium is good place for kids to understand our galaxy milky way , universe and our own solar system. You will feel awesome byseeing 3D movie of the universe. Must visit for growing kids. The only limitation is limited parking and Unavailablity of food counters. You may reach early and visit one monument which is built in 1300 BC just adjacent to the planetarium
I visited here with my 5 Yr old daughter for 3pm show on Saturday. I dont know about weekdays, but I would say avoid bringing ur own vehicle... Parking space is negligible. Show was awesome, I believe it was 30-40 min show...and my daughter hardly sat for a single min.... We both loved the show and everything was beautifully explained...my daughter learned many new facts on planets. I will definitely bring here again...
We are in 2021 but the planetarium still looks like we are in 1990.Its a very good place for knowledge but in terms of technology, they were far behind. As its situated in the central part they can upgrade it to a world-class planetarium with a modern tech screen and future VR.I have learnt so many new things but as a visitor I would it can be far better. The entry fee is very nominal and in my opinion, they should upgrade and start charging more on visitors and entry. They were preparing kids for space mission. But still using Lcd screen which are not working properly.Hope this message concerns the authority and they look forward to improve it.
Thats really beautiful place .. time worthy and money worthy, little place by area not by content. Much more thing than I think.. once you have to go and feel it.Ticket fareChild(4-12years - 50 rupees/headAdult (12<years - 80 rupees/headMonday closedSunday additional show at 12:30 pm(hindi)11:30am- English1:30pm - Hindi3:00pm - English4:00pm - HindiTickets are available before half hour of the show . Now they are taking only card, not cash..Tickets are also available online at book my show. There will be extra charge of booking and 18% gst..At the end I will say very good and enjoyable place . You will definitely gonna to love it... And that show I love that ..
I visited this place for the first time when I was a school kid. This place was filled with wonders back then. There used to be the escape pod of rakesh sharma. The show which tells you about the universe was something which I couldnt forget. But when I visited this place few days back, I was shock. Most of the pieces on exhibition dont work. A small section where you can learn about Nehru and his love for science is now closed. The jantar mantar model is broken. Then I went in to watch the show. There the seats were broken and dirty. But the show was still good. Thats probably the only thing that is worth watching. (As of last month, the entry to Nehru museum is closed)
✨😍Wonderful!!! Loved it. I think people should go such places rather than wasting their hundreds and thousands of rupees on entertainment. Though these are equally important, I feel you should look for the other aspects too. It was a great experience for which I was craving for months. Could not get time to make it possible but somehow or the other, this idea of being in planetarium always excited me. Been here for almost 2 hours wherein I spent my 1 hour exploring places near the planetarium. Theres a wonderful space to shoot or click photos. You must go there once! Just ₹80 Ticket per head for adults and 40 for kids.
A very nice informative place to learn about stars and our universe. How it started and what happened then. Why Pluto is now not considered a planet and how we have just 8 planets I our solar system. Do attend the show which is available in different languages. Its an amazing 3d kind of show. Its decently crowded so you might want to book tickets in advance. Take tour kids along and learn something.
