Navona Studios Guesthouse in San Juan

I made a booking with this hotel and had some issues with my card. I called back to ask them to cancel my booking and I will re-book it. The Hotel staff said they will charge me twice if I did that. Very adament about getting my credit card details.We didnt go further with the booking as it was unfriendly and unwelcoming service.

Very nice place! Good combination of the price and location. Clean, the most important for me is to sleep well. Bed and pillow was extremely comfortable , have water at the lobbyAlso they have a very nice rooftop with the view. Small, cosy place to stay nor crazy expensive and in the center.Highly recommend

Stayed here for 5 nights and loved it! Right in the heart of old San Juan within walking distance of everything you could need. Clean and perfect for a place to sleep and leave.

Rude staff, they made us get out of the run because ONE MISTAKE THEY MADE WE NEEDED TO RUN AWAY OF THE ROOM AND THE SHOWER!!!There are no elevators so be preparedNoisy streetGreat location inexpensive rooms but staff was sorude wouldnt stay here againFrom 6pm-10 am you are on your own. You cannotcontact anyone not even in the case of anemergency nor issues with your room /stay.Bedroom/mattress: Within seconds of getting intothe room we laid on the bed. Our mattress was sobad that we actually had them come up to our roomand try it. When laying or sitting on it you wereliterally making contact with the springs.Floor/cleanliness: The floor was dusty and it didntlook like it was cleaned before our arrival. And bythe way, room service is impossible to get in the first2 days of your stay. Even if you request it theanswer is a "No". Your room can only be servicedafter 2 days and thats it. No compromise.Bathroom: toilet is tilted in such a way that yourknee almost touched the toilet paper roll.The bathroom sink was very slow at draining thefirst 2 days and then it simply stopped draining.Shower: as others have noted it is hard to get thecorrect temperature. Most of our showers werewarm at best. The plumbing/water issue is waywrong. My boyfriend is very tall and he had to benddown/scoop down to be able to be under theshower.Disgusting place, would never in my life stay here again

We got a small bedroom, windowless on the 3rd floor (room 11). For the price, $48 a night per person, and the central location, it was worth it. Bed was full size. Very easy check in (code lock box with keysand check out process. Grateful for the AC and fan in room. But the AC couldn’t be controlled, so it’s actually too cold in the room and we had to layer up. There was also a fridge. The lounge/living room area in the third floor hallway was very nice. For the most part no one is there, so my friend and I enjoyed relaxing there, outside our small room. My friend complains about the elevator music in the lounge which was always on. Other complaints are the cleanliness. Our comforter had no cover to it, only a flat sheet above it. So there was no clean separation between us and the dirty comforter, which still has strangers’ hair on it and I’d guess hasn’t been cleaned before we came. So that was a bit gross to sleep through. Otherwise the place is decent. The water pressure in the shower is weak, and occasionally would run burning hot, with no option to control the water temperature, but otherwise the shower was doable. No bugs seen in all our 5 nights. We could leave our luggage in the downstairs Navona store until 2pm on the day of our 11am checkout. Overall, fitting for the price, and good central location in old San Juan.

Cute little hotel, good location, walkable to everything in old San Juan. Rooms were small but had a nice balcony overlooking the street. We had easy self check in with the lockbox. The main issue I had was it was super loud in the mornings on the street starting at 7am with construction, cars, people talking. Sounded like it was right next to you and made it very hard to sleep past then. We also got charged $25 for some makeup on a small towel which seemed a little ridiculous for a cheap/rough hand towel. Overall good stay.

Stayed for 2 nights in a balcony room on the third floor. Had a late check-in which they accommodated with no issue at all! Super friendly people, and the location is incredible. The only down side is that the walls are very thin so lots of outside and hallway noise. Still well worth it for the price and location.

My husband and I stayed here for one night to explore the beauty of Old San Juan. The location was perfect! All of the balcony rooms were booked so we stayed in one of the interior rooms. Yes it was small, but it was clean and it did the job for one night. Just know that past like 5:30pm, there is no one to help you if you need anything. Our toilet was having issues flushing just pee and toilet paper and there was no plunger in the room. I went downstairs and they were already locked up (was supposed to be 6pm according to their website). Luckily, someone was still inside and opened the door for me and fixed the issue because otherwise, we would have had a clogged toilet all night. The bed was rock hard and there was no hot water. The rooftop area was nice for relaxing and reading a book. Overall for the price and location, it was worth it for the one night but I would probably not stay here for longer than that.

Rooms clean and tidy. Very nice common areas, fun balcony views of old town. Great ambiance and views also from the pleasant roof deck! Cleaning lady was nice.The customer service we received with booking and later a confirmation call was decidedly unfriendly. We only continued with the reservation because we had a voucher. Consider sending your staff to a service training with Disney; friendly service and kindness help build a thriving business. And I hope you do flourish in those ways.

Our phones didnt work in Puerto Rico, which made things difficult..but we got free wifi at the pharmacie across the street. The owners were quick to respond. The Navona jewelry store clerk had to get our key out of the lock box. Once you get in the place is nice. The only thing is the bed was so worn out, it was a nightmare. Also, our bathroom sink was a bit unstable and would wobble, which was a little scary to think about it landing on your foot..but it is a nice place to stay..also it is in the middle of everything, great location.

We absolutely loved our stay here - we booked a small room and found it to be a cozy stay for 2 people who were mostly just sleeping there, we wanted to explore San Juan most of the day/night. The common areas were absolutely gorgeous and the rooftop space was a nice surprise. Clean room and easy check in process. By far the best value in San juan

Excellent location to stay! We really enjoyed this place for just one night and actually wished we stayed longer. The rooftop was a HUGE plus and the views were excellent. Watching the sunrise from our balcony was super special. Enough space for two people plus a nice common area on each floor as well. But again the roof wow!

Overall great experience and would definitely book a stay again - especially for one of the larger rooms facing the street. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms and found it adequate tough found ourselves wanting for a touch more space to deal with our luggage!Considering the price a worthwhile deal if you are a low maintenance traveler. The vibe is more guest room with family on the island rather than service-oriented hotel. Clean and tidy enough. If you expect anything more than a bed and simple bathroom look elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay and will be back! Can’t beat the location! Less than three blocks to ANYTHING you may need!Thank you!

Great value. There were a few issue I’ll few mention below, but the benefits outweigh them if you’re a low maintenance traveler.Pros: Amazing location, hard to get better than this at any price. Super clean. The balcony room is worth it. Relatively quite street for the area.Cons: No hot water. Bathroom is poorly constructed, lose fitting and tiny shower. One of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept on.

Okay, first things first: Im kicking myself for not knowing the name of the SWEET young woman who helped me with check-in and let me store my bags in the jewelry store until check in time (I arrived 3 hours early). She was SUPER nice and kind. Blonde hair and glasses.Next: this property is older, but it is VERY WELL maintained and cleaned EVERY SINGLE DAY!! If you are environmentally conscious, you can skip service, but they offer it every day.My room was an interior room and the accomodations were perfectly fine, but I realized on this trip that Im now used to seeing natural light when I wake up so for that reason, Ill be getting a balcony room when I return.Just a note: bathroom in the interior room had older fixtures, etc. Perfectly clean, but dated. If thats an issue for you, you have fair warning. I was fine with it.Also, as a solo Black woman traveler, I felt safe in the location.

Great location in the heart of San Juan Viejo. Old san juan street views from rooftop terrace. Also make sure you are able to climb stairs. But 2 Great lounge rooms. Laundry onsite, fresh filtered water as well.

The place was really nice and clean; with AC and they were very clean. The will change our bedding every day and bring new towels. And I will say it was a fair price for the location

The rooms were nice and the place was beautiful. Lovely balcony and great location. There was a spot on the roof to hang out.The check in/out process was quite confusing though, we didnt realise we had to check in using the jewlery shop next door (of the same name). You should bear in mind it is an old building with lots of stairs and no elevators. It wouldnt be suitable for those with mobility issues.

I surprised my fiance with a PR get-away. I saw the Navona guesthouse and knew thats where we needed to go. It was a great choice! Right in the heart of Old San Juan, the guesthouse is within walking distance (I mean literal stepsfrom shopping, food, culture, and more. Attached to a jewelry store, you check in for you room at the counter. Everyone speaks English and Spanish so anyone traveling from the states can rest easy! We had a single room on the 3rd floor (yes it is a walk up- no it is not wheelchair accessible). Anyone that has issues with walking or general mobility issues should maybe consider a commercial location with ramps. The show stopper is the 24/7 roof top lounge access. Absolutely amazing for anyone who wants to just get away from the busyness of the street below. This is not a fancy place with a bunch of staff. You may or may not get a clean towel everyday. There is no ice machine. There is excellent Wi-Fi. No snack machines but again, food is close. There is also super limited parking so just be prepared to walk 3 or 4 blocks from the parking garage.

This place is amazing. Beautiful historic building. Super clean. Clean like your mom cleaned it when she is in a bad mood clean. AC is blasting old. Comfy bed!Super safe. There is locked entrance to the building and each floor locked on top of the room locks. I came here with a friend but I wouldnt hesitate to visit her alone as a single woman.Everything you need and more is in easy walking distance. Drug store, resturants, bars, shopping.The location is amazing!!!!!! Book it you wont regret it.

Loved this place! The balcony room we stayed in was comfortable and beautiful. The location was the everything we could have asked for in San Juan Antigua. Convenient walking distance from everywhere. The lobbies on each guest floor are comfortable and clean. The rooftop terrace is also a bonus.

The management, Guesthouse staff and facility was great. We had a couple hiccups on checkin but Geronimo and the staff accommodated quickly. Very clean, very comfortable place. The rooftop is a gem and hopefully our little secret. The location on Calle San Francisco is fantastic. The balcony room was amazing. I cant wait for Viejo San Juan to come back to life after covid calms down.

We booked our trip for last year. Covid hit so they canceled and gave us credit. I booked again in Oct for April 2-8th. The agent who took the payment sent me a email and a picture of the receipt with the date of our future stay. I just called 1 month in advance to check on it and I was told by Marina that our reservation is not in the books. She says there is nothing she can do. Marina told me to call back on the 15 to see if there are 3 rooms available for that date. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I hope the owner responds so I can send him the picture of my receipt with the date.

I loved the fact that you can do your own check-in. I booked this place so easy and fast that I would come back for sure. The rooftop was a good place to take pictures if this is your first experience un Puerto Rico. If you travel alone, or with companion, you will like this place. The room was the perfect size to put your stuff and keep enjoying your trip. I highly recommend this guesthouse.

Stayed here back in December and found the place decent enough to go back. Its very centric HOWEVER, when I called back to verify if I could take my Emotional Support animal with me instead of letting me know it was not possible the woman in reception proceeded to yell "OF COURSE NOT! THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY, NO ANIMALS OF ANY KIND. NOOOO" I understand some places dont allow them EVEN if theyre certified however there are nicer ways to say things. They just lost a customer.

Beautiful hotel in the middle of Old San Juan. Luxury is guaranteed and service is great. Beautiful views and safe surroundings. The place is near everything, even mayor tourist spots such as El Morro.

I made a reservation I could not make due to a travel delay. I asked if I could get a credit for the following week to stay. The answer was no! We dont refund or credit. The lady on the phone said if we cannot rent your room now so you still have to pay for it. Were not going to give you a credit because we would lose that money as well. I know this is a lie, the island is pretty much locked down because of covid. I have flown there several times in the last couple weeks and no one is there.If she was willing to work with me at all and give me any type of credit I would have made this place my primary in Puerto Rico. Now I will not be back. learn how to treat your customers especially in these times.

Stay away , period rude manager. I cancelled my booking back in may and got a confirmation from the hotel saying I have a year to use it. When I get a call saying I was supposed to check in today . The manager said they were going to charge me anyway that they didn’t see it was cancelled. When I told her I had a email confirmation she hung up on me. I was looking forward to going when all this Covid is over I guess not.

Very sad to report that Navona Studios is not honoring Expedias Refund Policy that took affect at the end of March because of COVI9 19. Due to the pandemic, my mother had to cancel a trip to her hometown and go to PR/stay here. All travel was banned, but still they are choosing to be greedy and uncompromising. We will definitely be informing friends not to book a stay here and ask the locals to never suggest this place for accommodations to anyone. Disappointed and dismayed with this decision - all flights were cancelled to PR during this time (beginning of April). Hotel did not even reach out to offer a credit at least. Highly displeased and disappointed -- this place gives PR a bad rep.

Loved the location. It’s a building with rooms so keep that in mind it’s like walking into a house and staying at a room. They’re on the side of a jewlery store which they also operate so we had to wait for the clients of the store to clear before they could take care of us for check in. The photos make the place look bigger than what it is, it’s quite small but it has its charm!!! I loved the rooftop and their shared areas. People were sweet and attentive. I would stay there again. Bathrooms were a bit outdated but that’s part of the experience. Still, clean and well kept.

Navona studiosThis review is regarding room #2 on the 2nd floor.This is not a hotel.From 6pm-10 am you are on your own. You cannot contact anyone not even in the case of an emergency nor issues with your room /stay.Bedroom/mattress: Within seconds of getting into the room we laid on the bed. Our mattress was so bad that we actually had them come up to our room and try it. When laying or sitting on it you were literally making contact with the springs. The bed had an indentation meaning that the mattress needed to be replaced immediately. They went to another room and put a slightly better mattress on top. The next morning they actually took both old mattresses and replaced it with a new one.Stained/dirty comforter: The first comforter was stained. When the staff came to replace the mattress they also brought another comforter. That one was clean and so we used that one. The next morning they brought a brand new mattress. So we took the pillows and the clean/un stained comforter and put it on top of our luggage. We put the dirty/stained comforter on the floor with the stain clearly showing. Well, the staff took this stained comforter that was on the floor and that is the one they left in our bed!! We decided to sleep without it. That’s just simply rude.Floor/cleanliness: The floor was dusty and it didn’t look like it was cleaned before our arrival. And by the way, room service is impossible to get in the first 2 days of your stay. Even if you request it the answer is a “No”. Your room can only be serviced after 2 days and that’s it. No compromise.Bathroom: toilet is tilted in such a way that your knee almost touched the toilet paper roll.The bathroom sink was very slow at draining the first 2 days and then it simply stopped draining.Shower/water temperature : as others have noted it is hard to get the correct temperature. Most of our showers were warm at best. The plumbing/water issue is way wrong. Bring ear plugs like I did. Some streets are pretty quiet but not this one. If you are a light sleeper a balcony room is not for you.In summary the best thing about this place is the location as you are in Old San Juan. However I would never stay here again.RESPONSE TO NAVONA STUDIOS COMMENT: Yes the mattress was changed the next day. It is written in my initial review. 2 times. Did you not read that?Yes, my husbands request for a daily fresh towel does sound absurd but it is his request wherever we go and everyone is always accommodating except Navona studios.The comforter had that stain was there when we pulled it to get under it when we went to bed. IT WAS A DIRTY COMFORTER.In summary, I would never stay here again.

I booked a room and because of the amount of earthquakes I chose to cancel my My vacation because I dont feel safe. I requested at least some of my money back Instead they said they could not refund me. Please give me a credit are something. I would have gone back there when the weather permitted and there were no earthquakes. People have no control over your Earthquakes and why am I going to Put myself in an unsafe situation. That is terrible business.

You get what you pay for. Very small, very basic room, no a/c, no phone, almost no TV channels, bathrooms are held together with caulking, no front desk so late check in and baggage holding is an issue. But it is the least expensive option we could find and was clean and serviceable.In response to the owner/managers. We stayed 2 nights, your beautiful terrace was a rooftop with fake grass and some lounge chairs, also flooded with a few inches of water. TV had very few channels but there was TV . Common areas are nice and it is the best value in the area, but very basic. The hot water handle didnt work in our first room but we figured out that it was locked open and to use the cold to adjust temperature. We were not disappointed and everyone was very nice but its a 2 star place not 5. I would probably stay there again because I like basic and no frills.

NO WATER!!!! Had to go somewhere else and NO REFUND! Plus don’t book a “double room” it is not two rooms like the pictures show, it is one small room with a full size bed. Bathrooms looked NASTY- and were not functional because of the NO WATER situation. Water had been out in that part of Puerto Rico all day. They could have called, let us know, refunded us and let us find somewhere else to stay ahead of time. Instead, no notification, no refund. Oh and the number on the booking is disconnected so we had to find an alternate number. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE THAT CARES ABOUT GUESTS. The Sheridan Hotel and Casino is PHENOMENAL!

Check in is weird — my boyfriend and I stood in the jewelry store it’s attached to for 15 minutes with no one answering the phone or email. Finally we got the attention of a jeweler and she checked us in.Stayed one night in a room with a “balcony” (#9and had some issues — toilet clogged immediately with just toilet paper, no trash can in the entire room, and the shower was little more than a trickle of water and it was painfully hot (so hot I couldn’t handle the shower for more than 2 minutes.Stayed one night in an interior room and none of the other issues were present!

The hotel is very cute! The room is clean, The rooftop has amazing views, & The owner was extremely polite! My Bf & I had a wonderful time!

This is a great value hotel in the old part of San Juan. The location is great and fun. Many interesting eating places and bars in the neighborhood. The rooms are plain but clean. Each floor has has a common room for family and friends. It also has a nice roof top terrace with views of the harbor or neighboring roof tops.The internet worked fine. The owners, who run a jewelry store next door, are helpful but allow you your space.

Do not go they cockroach’s and it’s not cause it’s Puerto Rico. It’s because they don’t clean properly.Huge tourist trap. Just because it’s in Old San Juan don’t mean it’s nice.First good luck finding it and second it doesn’t look like anything you see in pictures, the rooms are ugly and a mess.

The lady at the desk first met me at checkin when I discovered that I had left my wallet in the taxi we used to get here. She spent at least an hour tracking it down and getting it returned. This is definitely a family style place where they take care of you!

I have an upcoming stay in August & I regret booking this hotel. The “manager” is EXTREMELY rude. She shouldn’t even be in the hospitality business. I’ve reached twice; the first time addressing the reviews I read and making sure the room I booked didn’t match up with what others were saying & secondly to see if I could possibly have a refund because I planned on leaving a day early and she said I’ve been “problematic since the beginning” and she hung the phone up on me. Whatever you do avoid booking this hotel. I’m pretty sure the reviews match up with the experience I’m going have when I get there. It’s worth paying more money to a business who actually treat their customers with respect.

Not a double room, they want to charge an additional $50 for a person that doesnt fit in the room and they dont have two beds room available. No parking n they dont greet you at all. I come from the states and they didnt treat us politely. The room was dirty. No refund and on top they charge a cancellation fee.Is sad the respond from the owner, because I explained the emergency with the third person, she didnt offer to accommodate us in a bigger room and she wanted to charge an additional $50 for the person for the same room. The room was dirty I have two witnesses and I shouldve taken a picture of it. The entrance is inside the Jewelry store and they didnt greet us. Please refer to other reviews about the staff in other website, they are not polite.

Neat place though the bed wasnt that comfortable and parking is hard to find. Great value, really unique. Get the balcony and watch life happen on the street below. We will definitely stay here again! Added note, city noise since its in the heart of Old San Juan. The area puts me in mind of the French Quarter. You have to check in at the jewelry store, but theyre very friendly and helpful and the place was clean and smelled Good! Again, we will stay here again if the opportunity presents itself!!!!

Needs a complete overhaul. Check in is next door at the jewelry store. No elevator. Roaches and ants. Very thin French doors. You could here every conversation outside. When we asked for toilet paper after we had been there 5 days, we were sent a few blocks away to a store to buy our own. No maid service. If you want a clean towel you have take your towel outside and next door to the jewelry store and exchange it for a new one. Then walk back up several flights of stairs back to your room to shower. Just not a great experience over all.
