Beautiful gardens. Would have loved to have a tour guide for the inside and not just the gardens though.

We have been to the Berkshires several time but somehow missed this gem. We shared a charcuterie plate while overlooking the grounds before entering and touring the mansion. We also were sure to tour the lovely gardens and terraces that make up this little piece of heaven. Well worth the cost of admission to experience and learn the history of this site. Enjoy your experience!

Excellent old mansion with huge gardens. At the moment you can tour the house on your own, but no guided tours The garden tour is excellent and adds additional comments about the house to partially make up for the lack of house tours. The gardens make for quite the tour ... Wear sneakers. Also has a small gift shop and snack bar.

Garden tour was very informative. Lots of stories. Wish they did a little more for the tour of house. Gardens were beautiful! Small parking lot need to go slow on road around corners.. might want to recommend a sign around there. Great staff around to ask questions but not much more than question answered. Nice upkeep

Just a mile from the center of Stockbridge, this magnificent historic house is a treat. You are welcome to see the rooms on the first two floors — on your own, not under the control of a guide. The grounds and gardens are in beautiful condition and invite roaming and lounging, with impressive views of the Berkshires. There’s a very civilized refreshment spot below the house in the back. Naumkeag is hard to pronounce but very much worth a visit.

A beautiful gilded age smaller sized mansion with superb gardens and history. Located on gorgeous acreage in the Berkshires. A peaceful retreat. Well worth the admission. Join the Trustees and get access to other properties in Massachusetts.

Beautiful place, I work as a valet attendant, we do a private party there every year. Personally I think its a pretty nice spot. Unfortunately its hard to write an accurate review since I was never actually a part of the events up there.

A little to early in the season to really appreciate the gardens. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and communicated with everyone. Seems like a place we will have to come back to at least 1 or 2 times. Maybe summer and winter. They have scheduled many programs that run most months.

We visited the place for daffodil and tulip festival this week, it was nothing like festival there. Got to see some daffodils which are anyways pretty much available everywhere to see.tulips were very less. Not worth the time and money. We drove 2h30 mins one way to reach there, was very excited to see flowers bloomed in 8 acres but it was total disappointment.visit to Boston public garden was far better than this.

Was lucky enough to nab a ticket for the tulip show and it was a stunning, sun filled, Berkshire day. The grounds of Naumkeag are certainly lovely enough to begin with, but when enhanced with thousands and thousands of tulips, daffodils and other surprises, they are outstanding!I was just blown away by the Japanese garden’s pink display, as well as the variety and fluidity of bubbles in the large fountain.I learned some things about the house since the first floor was open. The staff was very warm and knowledgeable. What a great way to spend the afternoon. Many thanks to all of the wonderful staff, gardeners and trustees who put this together.Update! 2022 bulb show totally enhanced with a bucket list sculptor George Rickey. So well curated!!! Loved it. Totally mesmerizing and so calming. Complex yet simplistic. Superb curation.

The winter light show is amazing! They do such a good job decking the whole place out. The pumpkin festival is really nice too. Never been to any other events there but would recommend both of those. Just make sure to plan ahead as the tickets do sell out every year for these popular shows

This was the highlight of our Berkshires trip. The tickets to the pumpkin show were long sold out although I check the website frequently in case of cancelations. The grounds are actually free so I thought to check during the day and we actually managed to see it with no other visitors around, although walking up from another entrance. I was such a wonderful experience and I was so happy.

Went to the Pumpkin Show at Naumkeag, which was quite amazing! The detail of the carved pumpkins was awesome (even though most pumpkins are styrofoam)! Loved the lights and festive flowers. Going inside the house at Naumkeag was quite a special experience too with more spooky scenes to explore. The Trustees try to limit to 1 hour experience which was more than enough time to circle around 2x (2 adults with no children). The only thing that wouldve made my experience better would be if it was a little darker outside to see the lights better; however, tickets are timed. This is a fun event for families too and some children were dressed in their Halloween costumes. 🎃 Cider and refreshments are served outside at a kiosk. Mask is required any time entry is required into an enclosed space. Overall a fun experience!

$20 entrance fee is worth it!!! This place is absolutely stunning with beautifully, well manicured gardens, the views are spectacular, plus you can visit the inside of the home, and there are spots outdoors to sit and enjoy the beautiful area. You can spend as much time as you want and explore at your own pace. I really enjoyed everything about this place and couldnt wait to share it with my friends on Facebook.

Lovely old House and gardens. Currently many rooms are closed to visitors because of COVID. Well preserved old artefacts that give you a good idea about old day living. The gardens are lovely but giving one star less because there were too many mosquitoes that wouldnt be deterred even with bug spray.

It would be difficult to find a more perfect stop in Western Massachusetts. We enjoyed every moment here. There is no end to the architectural or natural beauty as you peruse the grounds. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. We came for the Tulip and Daffodil Festival, which was well-run and a great time to come.

Put this on your COVID list! The upper floors are closed, but the gardens here more than make up for it. The first floor is magnificent. As the guide says: it is as if the owner picked up her purse and walked out the door. Jaw dropping. But the gardens were even more interesting. We stumbled into a garden tour and learned the stories of each garden. And after the tour we did the whole walk again to spend more time exploring the nooks, crannies and surprises. Im a gardener and I couldnt get enough: so many surprising plants, I was in awe. My teen daughter is not a gardener and she LOVED it, too.

Naumkeag grounds and house took you back in time; every inch of the garden was very inviting; grounds very large so wear your walking shoes, bring picnic lunch and plenty of water if you want the full experience. House view was limited to first floor but was expected to open fully by fall. If you have time, plan to stop in town for ice cream and browse the shops.

The perfect place to be outside on a dark cold winter night! You can easily spend an hour or two strolling here. Lovely music to go with these happy lights. You can take your mood up a notch with hot coco (or a few notches up with winesold at multiple locations. There is a cute gift shop with some very unusual items. There are clean restrooms too.

We tried going yesterday but they were closed. We were dissappointed for sure but decided to go again today. The folks were extremely pleasant and the entire trip was great all the way around. Julie did a fantastic job showing us around the house and telling us the stories behind the "cottage". And in the registration/store area Camilla was extremely pleasant as well and very helpful. Everyone we spoke to was extremely apologetic for the wasted trip we made the day before. Thank you everything. The building and the grounds are beautiful. Would like to check it out when the roses are in bloom or fall foliage season.

This was a great visit done as a day trip from Boston. The Gilded-age house stands mostly as is on day the it was given to The Trustees of Reservation, with the original content intact. But that is only half of the overall experience. The extensive gardens add to pleasure of the visit. The views that the Choate family enjoyed make clear the reason why they bought and built in this location. The property is lovingly maintained and recent restorations have taken place ensuring that the property will be enjoyed for another century.

Stunning gardens, grounds and view. Great and varied programs affordable and accessible to all whether a member or not.Good tours and well worth learning the history. Colors and decor of the era make it a dark house on the inside and worn but the outside is pristine and uplifting to experience the view and exceptional and unusual gardens.Go. You will be glad you did. Delightful.Thursday night music in the gardens in summer is wonderful.($10 for non members and $5 for members and free for children- check the websiteFull of happy families, children and people of all ages. You can even bring a picnic or buy food in the shop and there is a cash bar with reasonable prices..

What a beautiful "summer cottage". The grounds are beautiful and the house is very elegant. If you are visiting the Berkshires, stop in for a visit. Just note when they are open as the hours vary during different times of the year.
