Really cool stop at the natural history museum today! Huge and varied collection you can easily spend an entire day hereIt is however incredibly busy and stressful so if you are of an anxious disposition it can become too much very quicklyI was also honestly disappointed in the creepy crawlies room, given the museums collection it was disappointing to only see large plastic models compared to the other sections it was a bit of a let down

What a stunning building specifically designed and built to showcase nature for those living in a massive compact and busy city. It is open, airy and light with lots of open space to walk around. It is free entry but there is a suggested £5 donation by cash or card. 👍 The exhibits are wonderful but it is of course from a by gone era with some stuffed animals but it would be bad to remove them. Dippy the famous Dino 🦕 is home again after its UK tour and is going on another one in the future. We only had a couple of hours but could easily spend days here. There are lots of things to do for kids with a dedicated area in the basement with tables for picnics 🍱 and little people toilets so you can plan a cheap day out for the family. 😁 Would highly recommend and cant wait until we visit London again to make more time to see more here. 😎👍

A must visit place. Loved how well maintained and beautiful this place is. It even has earthquake simulator that shows you real life experience of an earthquake. They also have a world famous Dino - Dippy. A must see till it is open for public this year.

Great way to spend your day as there is loads to see. I found the diamonds very interesting! However we could not find Dippy. Id recommend bringing some water as it can get a little hot when its really busy. It is in a great location as the science museum and V&A are near by as well as Hyde Park so plenty to do.

An incredible place for families of any age to visit.A free resource (donations only), which incites wonder, interest and has captured great works of art, history and science. The exhibits are beautifully displayed, the area is spacious, no queues and full of interactive learning resources. Its very child friendly and is set up in such a way that you can spend as little or as much time there as you please. The staff are friendly, the facilities spot on and the atmosphere is calm, unhurried and your free to wander as you wish. Our one small hiccup:We were inspired to visit due to my sons love of all things prehistoric. He had seen pictures of the main exhibit - the skeleton of the T- Rex, and was excited to see it.On arrival we were bewildered when the huge T - Rex was nowhere to be found. After an embarrassing conversation with staff we were informed that the Natural History Museum in New York had currently borrowed the skeleton and in its place was the skeleton of a large Blue Whale!Oops!!!However - we have promised ourselves another visit whilst next on holiday in London.Thank you for making such a wonderful resource available to the public. We loved it.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Magnificent collections of fossils and bones of dinosaurs and other animals that is been extinct. They have lots of collections of precious natural stones from around the world and even meteorites. You need a whole day to really explore this area. One of the good thing about this museum is free. No Entrance fee needed. But if you like to give donations depends on you.

One of the best museums in the whole world. And possibly one of the most famous. Ive been to London 3 times so far and I havent seen the whole museum. Its beyond incredible, and probably the collections which are not shown (behind and beneath the museumare even more incredible. You could be there for 5 days and you would still probably not see everything. The main hall is so beautiful, there is no other description of it. The part about how Earth was made and Space, volcanoes, earthquakes, etc is really interactive and great for kids, as well as adults. Everytime I visit, I learn something new. There is no favorite part, everything is a favorite part. I even saw Dippy again, after 12 years! :D Be fast because Dippy is going away again in 2023.

One of the richest collections of natural history in the heart of London. The most convenient and important part is free admission like the British museum. Although they kindly asking you to prebook timed ticket for entry, no one actually check anything, including the Dippy the dinosaur. The only downside is a very crowded museum and most of the room especially the dinosaur room is full of people.

The museum hosts large collections of dinosaurs, sea animals and other species which makes it one of the most interesting museums in London. There are also different exhibitions consisting of precious metals and special stones, worth seeing. The building itself is marvelous as well.

Great experience. Its really a great treat for free. Very well kept museum. Its quite an extensive collection of specimens. Vast diverse richly detailed sections and each of them is worth visiting. Needs at least 4 to 5 hours to explore the whole museum nicely.

Weve always wanted to visit the Natural History Museum and finally got the chance to go this year. Based in South Kensington, it was fairly easy to plan travel to the location of the museum. We went on a Friday during the summer holidays and it was pretty busy but we were able to get round the museum with ease and look at all that we wanted to. It was free to enter and we had no waiting time but we were told by friend to book tickets online anyway so you have a slot time for your visit. Our main area of interest was the Jurassic era so seeing real dinosaur bones and preserved fossils was pretty amazing. We even got to see Dippy the Dinosaur that is currently at the museum for a limited time. Lots of great history and facts on earth and wildlife. Really enjoyed it. Its free to enter and all they ask for is donations towards keeping it open. The only downside I personally experienced was that I bought a salad from one of the on site Cafes and about 20 minutes after eating it, it repeated on me and I spent about 15 minutes in the loos being sick. My top tip would be to eat before you attend, take snacks and a bottle of water to stay hydrated. It got pretty hot in some of the rooms so be prepared.

Great place to take the kids on an adventure and of course learn something along the way. But as I don’t have a little child the place was just a bit to busy with screaming kids and not as pleasant as it looks on Instagram. I did of course get to see Dippy which did bring out the child in me. I suppose if you want less crowds don’t go on a Sunday as I did, but then i suppose mid week you will get all the school excursions anyway. Its free entry (although donations are encouraged and easy to give electronicallyso no complaints.

BOOK YOUR TICKETS. We went here on a blistering hot day and the queues for no tickets was massive, when you can book the tickets ONLINE for FREE! There was no wait for people who had tickets, we walked straight in. The museum itself was amazing, and I was very impressed with the knowledge they provided about the planet. The volcanoes and earthquakes section was the best! The interior of the museum is beautiful and would definitely recommend a full day trip here. Be mindful that it is an old listed building so there is no AC.

the Natural History Museum in London is in no way inferior to that in New York. compared to the one in Berlin, this one is a lot more exciting. great presentation makes it very interesting to visit and highly recommended for children too. there is much to learn about the origins of us apes and also of humans. you could probably spend several days here and still not have read through all the information and collected all the facts worth knowing. it is also an architectural masterpiece, both inside and out.

A really lovely day to stay with your family. My daughter really enjoyed it and asked to go again. She really loved the dinosaurs and volcano. Now we need to look forward for another booking and hopefully my big daughter will come this time as well. Is a ni ce place for adults too, not only for kids. See you soon.

This is a really good museum. The rock collection is quite good. The dinosaur collection is Quite good but not as good as some that I have seen across the world Particularly in Alberta Canada. The Museum seems to have an obsession with a dodo bird. Museum is easily accessible. It has many nice cafés inside. It is also very close to the V& A Museum so doing both at the same time might be a good idea. The museum is not air-conditioned but there are many parts of the museum that are well aired out so I was comfortable on a hot day.

Awesome! Absolutely fantastic! My favourite museum that I have been to. Both my brother and I are fully grown adults but upon walking in we felt like children again. I excited to see Dippy again after 5 years and it did not disappoint. If you visit do try to find the specimen rooms located a bit off the beaten path. This area is quiet but has some fascinating specimen jars that are great to see.

A fun experience all round with plenty of relics from ages past to gawp at and admire. Entry is free and especially for kids the museum is an absolute treat as the educational aspects are in plentiful abundance here. Prices in the Café area arent too bad and even the souvenir shop has plenty of quirky things. A fun day out to be had here, thats for sure.

Great museum. Ive been there twice and Ive loved the experience each time. Rich history of the earths changing landscape over millions of years and what caused the changes. It displays also the history of the different species of animals that once lived on earth and brought about their extinction. There is so much knowledge on display. The kids had fun touring the museum and asking lots of questions. There are food cafes and cake and coffee bars within the museum if you need a bite. The top 3 (or solevels are the busiest so unsurprisingly, the toilets have a long queue too but people rarely go down to the lower levels. There are large rooms there (on the school trip/investigative/research floorwith tables and seats and empty toilets. Its much quieter down there if you just wanted some peace and quiet to read or have your meal. The museum is a great place to go explore with the kids on a day out or if youre even an adult that wants to know more about the history of our planet and universe.

I’m not too sure how you can give this place less than five stars, the outside of the building is 5 ⭐️ worthy alone, absolutely magnificent!! Just check out the detail, look for the differences in the carvings etcWhen built in 1881 the cost/budget must of been huge.Step inside to marvel once more, even if you’re not as interested in the content, the building itself is phenomenal.

This is probably the most beautiful building I have ever been to.If you are visiting Oxford you should go here.Excellent exhibits - especially about the geology of Oxfordshire. There is a cafe on the first floor with a great view of the main room and the Horsebox Cafe outside. When we went it wasnt super busy but I have seen other reviews mention that it can get very busy so plan accordingly. The museum is also attached to the Pitt Rivers museum.Gift shop leaves something to be desired.

What an amazing educational museum. Wouldnt want to miss it while visiting here. You have to pre book your tickets but I believe slots are available even on the day of so you can do it right before. (may 2022).While it is free, they do encourage you to donate to support and sustain the museum.Spent about 2-3 to hours exploring the exhibitions. Also definitely a must go if you or have a loved ones who love dinosaurs 🦖

Absolutely brilliant. Gave a donation by the door, enjoyed seeing everything after that. Found a lovely baby changing/feeding area by the canteen & toilets to the right of the giant steps in the main hall way as well. Downloadable map available on the site or you can buy one for £1. Really educational for kids as well as adults.

Beautiful building lots of interesting exhibits, although there seemed to be quite a few that were simply not open at this time.Nonetheless it keptmus occupied for a solid 3 hours, and there are lovely grounds and lots of seating areas to sit and have a picnic, and theres also a cafe to buy some food. All that and its free, well worth a donation.Highlight was the moving T-Rex.

Took my done as he loves history, animals, learning. We spent a wonderful day and had amazing much deserved quality time together. Its free to get in but you must book the free tickets online before entry, if you need help with this there are lovely staff at the entrance whom will offer to help you. Its advised to take your own packed lunch as the food inside is very pricey indeed and you can always sit outside on a sunny day within the grounds for a picnic. Highly recommended place to go but be warned.... Wear comfortable footwear because you will be on your feet alot.

Wow!A free attraction that you can get lost on and spend all day there. We arrived at 11am and left at 5. There was so much to see.The humming bird taxidermy display was truly amazing. Such a great work of art. Also the actual building was more breathtaking than the exhibits. We only managed to do a quarter of the museum. There is a little dinosaur cafe bit that the children enjoyed. We didnt do any of the paid stuff as there was a lot to do.Also the crystals they have for sale are at such great prices very cheap.

Its good for kids. For adults, there is a lot of improvement. I have been to natural history museums in New York, Washington DC, Oxford UK and this one. By far this is the worst natural history museum I must say. I think specimens are kept with aesthetics in mind rather than the idea of conveying knowledge to visitors. The building is grand and photogenic in every angle, indoors and outdoors. Free tickets, clean toilets are some good things. The dinosaur section was rather disappointing. As I mentioned earlier, its an absolute entertainment for kids, whereas, I would like to see real specimens and read about them rather than viewing some video playing on a big screen.

Having not been here in 10+ years, it was still as awesome as I remember it, however a little smaller (I was a kid the last time I came). Lots of really cool exhibits, although I felt that most exhibits were small and could’ve had more stuff to get lost in. Still a fun visit though!
