National Trust Dockey Wood - Nature reserve in Chesham, United Kingdom
Nice woodland area, quiet, but paths are not marked well.
Lovely place for a walk and picnic. We stopped in the woods, had some tea and cupcakes. Admired the shelters that had been built by kids. All in all a great place.
Beautiful place to visit b/w April and May
Lovely and peaceful. Really beautifully maintained. Had a lovley walk around and sat down on a bench at the back to have lunch.
I think these is best place to see bluebells. When ever you go you can see bluebells every where. Magic forest will impress you for sure. You have nice free parking, cafe with big choice, coffee shop and delicious ice cream shop.
Visited the wood at the tail end of the bluebell season. So they were starting to fade, but still very pretty and enchanting.
A lovely wood to walk through and photograph the Blue Bells. Keeping to the paths....A comment to the parents who allow or even encourage their children to run or even roll in the Blue bells, just to take pictures of their sweet children. PLEASE DONT DO IT...The Blue bells take many years to grown in these woods and people walking on them can kill them in an instant.Enjoy them from the path only.
The Bluebells are in bloom and while they are blooming the place will always look spectacular. Natural beauty always trumps man made.
Bluebells at Dockey Wood were lovely, but quite a lot of the area has been overtaken by brambles, which the NT will be working on, to clear the area gradually
The bluebells are always a pleasure to see.
Absolutely beautiful, looks like a good year. NT is doing a great job clearing the brambles and maintaining this little gem of woodland to allow bluebells to flourish.
Fantastic bluebell woods smells was amazing
Love the blue bells. It’s very clean and the forest is just amazing
Beautiful bluebells in spring. Parking opposite
Phenomenal bluebell woods. We were lucky to be there recently on a sunny evening. It was absolutely magical. We were also very pleased to see the restricted paths in place now. They seem to be having an impact as there are even more bluebells than in previous years.
Looked beautiful with huge carpets of bluebells with path through the field to allow walking through and appreciate the lovely view
Friday evening at dockey wood
Wonderful experience, walking for miles and got lost. Ive never had so much fun in nature . The bluebells and violets in full bloom
Its a lovely woodland area, the bluebells can be sighted here when the season is right :). The parking area has very uneven ground and quite a lot of pot holes. Despite the parking, the woodland area is definitely worth a visit :).
Always a good experience, thousands of bluebells during April/may, although the gate to enter is extremely close to the quite fast roadway.
Ive been enjoying this beautiful sea of blue every spring for 20 years of my life. This year I am saddened to see that this year huge swathes of the bluebells have been taken over by brambles. The brambles seem to have originated from the piles of twigs and branches that have been piled on the edge of the bluebells to prevent people from trampling on them. A well-intentioned initiative to prevent human traffic footpath erosion and trampling of the bluebells, but it seems to have caused more harm than good.I hope that national trust are able to get rid of the brambles otherwise I fear we will lose the bluebell sea within a few years.
Unfortunately these once beautiful woods are now overgrown with brambles. Hopefully work will begin to restore them back to their original glory.
Beautiful forest, featured in into the woods, Harry Potter and many other films. There are many walking routes that start at the visitors centre including a 17 mile hike around the boundary. Im going to wait for the summertime and hit that hike.
A nice wander. Beautifully restricted paths to protect the tree roots using cut/fallen branches to border the path ways.
Beautiful, but not accessible to all because of the entrance being uneven, muddy, with a muddy pit with sticks and logs. Wheelchair users could not access, nor could my 86 year old mother with her stick.
Blue Bell Wood. This place is exquisite a sea of blue .Ideal visit time.......when the Blue Bells are in full bloom, late evening as the sun is setting.
Perfect spot for wandering around especially May with all the bluebells still out
I would love to have been able to write positively about Dockey Wood however that isnt possible. This site is renowned for a blanket of bluebells covering the entirety of the site in late June early May. This year has unfortunately been quite disappointing in that the amount of bramble growth is quite significant, in some areas of the wood it has taken over almost completely, the bluebells unable to compete cannot grow. Not being an expert Im not entirely sure what the National Trust can do to rescue situation. Hopefully something can be done as I would imagine the problem will only spread accross the whole site. It would be such a shame to loose wonderful sight of the bluebells.
Always a great place to visit during spring, the bluebells are magnificent 👍
Beautiful bluebells in great quantity beneath silver birch trees. Had no difficulty parking late afternoon. Well worth a visit.
I was told about Dockey wood and had to have a look, WoW I wasn’t disappointed just amazing a carpet of Bluebells, a must see 👍
Well worth a visit but try not to go at busy times like weekends as parking is very limited. If it has been wet make sure that you take wellingtons as paths are very muddy.
This used to be delightful to visit but suffers from 2 main issues these days. Fences have been built to protect the bluebells which is fine, but they are rather ugly and detract from the beauty. Secondly the area is slowly being over taken by brambles which has ruined the lovely carpets of bluebells.
A lovely place to visit the bluebells. Thank you to the National Trust staff who work to look after these gorgeous flowers and the woodland.
Lovely wood. Needs much forest management. Sad to see such a lot of Ash die back.
Beautiful particularly when the bluebells are in full bloom. Best time to visit is first thing in the morning or late evening when the scent is at its height.
A pleasant, short walk. Better in bluebell season. Lovely and quiet.
A sight that needs to be seen to be believed! In peak bluebell season, the ground is blue (more like purplefrom the thousands of bluebells! The wood is a decent size and people are kept to the paths, so this can get crowded at busy periods, but it is worth it!
This is the absolute best bluebells forest in this country
Beautiful time of year to see bluebells in full bloom.Carpet of blue in a safe environment. This whole area is a must for walkers and families in sightseeing and picnic mode.
An amazing visual of bluebells in all their glory. £3 to get in if not National Trust members but it all goes to helping keep the woods in tip top condition
The National Trust charge at the gate is a wee bit cheeky (especially when theres many free areas of bluebells with a milebut it is quite a spectacular little oasis of Blue!Pity that its had to be fenced in internally (with wood piles rather than fencesto stop hoardes of cretins stomping everywhere...
A must see!We stopped here for a few minutes and the sights are amazing. Photos really dont do it justice.A nice place for a walk around and there is a free carpark across the road from it. Suitable for all ages and yours an extent wheelchair friendly ( may get muddy)
The April/May bluebells here are a magical freak of nature, but year by year the paths are justifiably more constrained to protect the plants from the crowds. At the weekend arrive after 5 to stand any chance of easy parking, 7pm to get much peace. Maybe just walk along the road to find some less famous bluebells and enjoy getting closer to them.
Great for a break from the screens. Autumn is a great time for change
If you like nature you will enjoy it a beautiful place to take a walk any season
Very plesent walk with the bluebells out. Not the biggest of areas to walk around. Went on a sunny weekend and was nice to get out of the shade- quiet as well!
A lovely little patch of woods, a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon :)
Amazing at this time of the year with a carpet of ethereal blue from thousands upon thousands of bluebells. Dont forget to take your camera, but remember, at the moment, tje weekends will be crowded.
A stunning place to get some great family portraits, with an amazing backdrop of a massive carpet of bluebells.
