No. 2, Xiangyang Rd, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100, Taipei
Venerable national museum with a variety of exhibits, including history & natural history.
Was here 3 years ago but couldnt remember muchMeseum is mostly about natural history
It’s no Smithsonian. It’s free for us.Great place to be on a hot day.
Small. Not organized, we find the same things at different floors therefore there is not much to see. There is a focus on aboriginal things. But there is English translation which is great. And it is cheap
Great place to walk around
Taipei is full of rich museums and this one is very RICH. A must-see place for anyone visiting who wants to absorb and ruminate for a bit the history and culture of Formosa/Taiwan.It is great for families with children. I went there on my own and I was not disappointed, so it is a great ME TIME as well.
Good for group activity
Great place to know various things. Visitors can learn about fossils and rocks on earth, various flora and fauna, culture in Taiwan, to various Taiwanese foods, drinks and traditions. Very informative for various age classes, including children. There is a floor for a childrens play area complete with a variety of interesting information as well.
11/10 for their collection of stuffed animals that gave me nightmares for the rest of the week. I hope they dont let Ben Stiller visit, no need to find out what theyre up to.Apart from that, I would say the exhibition on Taiwans history is a highlight and must see. Extremely interesting perspectives on its (pre-)colonial and modern history with some very rare exponats that cant be seen elsewhere!
For $ 30 NTD , you can visit two museums. There many history of Taiwan being displayed. If you like rocks, they have a collection of all the rocks found in Taiwan. There is one floor catered to little kids, watch your head.
The place had multiple themes, which was great. They also had lots of adorable plushies in the souvenir shop but were a little pricey.
Nice and large museum, a nice place to bring your children
I was surprised that it was so large, including a floor for childrens learning (basementand a small theatre. Very cheap entrance fee and the exhibits were very interesting. The natural museum location is under construction until July, but apparently my ticket is still valid until the end of July to visit this building! Definitely worth checking out.
Not the most exciting museum in the world, but a few nice exhibits. Would have liked some more history in English to tell the story of aboriginal tribes, rather than just examples of a few clothes. Saying that, definitely worth a visit
It is a great place to feel yourself indulged into the history of humans, creatures, fossils etc.Its a good place to gain some knowledge about the taiwan history like the Formosa and Formosa system. You can gain some information about rare tactics used by ancient men living in taiwan. Some fossil details and undersea creatures most abundant in the Taiwan Sea.A bunch of birds which you can never imagine will let you feel its glory. And also some more interesting things which I can never describe by words.Nearby you can see another building where you can know about dinosaurs as well.
Photos are taken from areas around Taiwan museum. Cultural parks, monuments, gardens, and shops abound tha place. It is interesting to note that quirrels and birds go about their daily habits in the parks as if they do not fear anything and have made the park their home. Thumbs up.
Great experience to learn about Taiwanese culture and history, especially for foreigners like me. All exhibits were marked with clear English descriptions for non-Mandarin speakers. Overall was a wonderful experience.
The National Taiwan Museum is a good place to get to know some of the history and culture of Taiwan. Entry to the museum is quite cheap and the ticket covers both the Main Building and the Land Bank museum. An excursion to both museums will typically take half a day. You can start after lunch and you would have ample time to visit both sites. The main building also has temporary exhibitions on the first floor so do check out their website to see what is on display. The other galleries are a mix of indigenous artifacts as well as preserved flora and fauna of TaiwanThe Landbank Exhibition hall has an excellent display of dinosaur bones and replicas. This is definitely a place to visit if you have kids that like dinosaurs.
Worth visiting and you can also visit the small museum opposite for free which has a small collection of dinosaurs
Bringing back to where is it stared ...Feel free to full your eyes and mind..🖤You will never regret to visit this place..highly recommend 😊😍
The building itself is a gem. Built by Japanese architecture features stained glass doom in 1913. Interesting display of historical past. Feature past research fr Japanese researchers. Don’t miss the attic display. The roof structure is interesting. Bright and clean
National Museum with many objects of history and nature of Taiwan. With same ticket 30NT$ you can visit also the Land Bank Exhibition Hall located in front of main building. At the entrance they ask me if I booked appointment in advance, but since it was not crowded they let me enter without reservation.
Booked a ticket through their website, it was only 15 ntd with a student id. That one ticket gives you a visit to both the main branch and the archeology museum across the street. The exhibits at both branches are fantastic! They have cultural, historical, zoological, and archaeological exhibits showcasing Taiwan’s culture, past, and wildlife. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the archaeological museum site also has a large walk-in bank vault exhibit on the history of banking in Taiwan. It’s very cool to walk around inside an olde bank vault, ducking your head the whole time and checking out all the old machines and coins they had. This museum is definitely worth a trip and the entire basement floor level is a children’s museum if you’re looking for something like that too.
Only $30nt and also allows entrance in the Landmark Bank museum across the street. Nice architecture inside. There are about 3 levels and each section has different exhibits. Worth to check out.
Whats there to dislike? Its a beautiful museum with different sections and themes that range from the animal kingdom and environmental education to historical and cultural themes of Taiwan. The building itself is beautiful and well kept.Im excited to see that they are doing some renovations and cant wait to go visit these new sections once they are completed.Perfect for a nice weekend afternoon walk by yourself, with friends, a date, or with family.ℹ️NT$30.00 per personℹ️Dont forget your mask!
Nice museum, with a few exhibitions about Taiwanese culture and history.Really cheap entrance fee: NTD$30Worth a look if youre in the area.
It is located close to the station so very convenient to be there and there is not many things to see but I enjoyed it. A nice park so you could enjoy to walk around and take a photo. There also have a free wifi!!
Great museum with an extension at the Land Bank Exhibition Hall of the National Taiwan Museum. Unfortunately their third museum, the Taiwan Railway Museum will not be open until April 2020. This is a very nice and small museum for family outing.
Great location, super convenient, and in a beautiful park. The buildings architecture was very nice and so was the Taiwan exhibition! I went during the Aboriginal bark painting exhibit which was also amazing!
Level 2 is currently closed for renovation. Not a bad place to spend some time. Though there are not many exhibits at this time. Done in 20 minutes. Senior citizen above 65 years old is free and for others it is only NTD 30!
It’s got a small two story displays, you can take a guided tour. The Australian natives display recently is big but somewhat inappropriate for young children. Otherwise this shows part of the history of Taiwan starting when it was ruled by Japan.
You can purchase the tickets at half price NT15, if you are a student. International students are valid as well. Interesting facts about taiwan in this museum. Would suggest the management team to add more stuff about taiwan because it will interest the visitors more.
Great place with numerous collections of history, science, and art! It has a wide variety of themes and you can never get bored while appreciating the artifacts and the information read. The museum has a Taiwan history section and a special exhibition section. It is also located within a park.
Great place to learn about dinosaur and exhibit fossils. My daughter love it very much especially the towering dinosaur skeleton. Great place for kids.
Great place to visit and also suitable for children. No worry if you cant read Mandarin. All information is written in Mandarin and English. Since the museum mainly talks about "natural history" in Taiwan, the vocabularies might be difficult to non English native speakers. Overall, a perfect place to visit. Notice: some rooms are temporarily under maintenance because the museum was built in about 100years ago.
It was a different kind of experience learning about the history of the fossils, the people and animals of Taiwan. It kind of shows their relevance and stand in this world. Walking through the museum, i found myself mesmerised by the items that were being displayed and reading each of the descriptions and quotes got me reflecting on the world we are living in right now and the strong connection we have with nature.Unfortunately, two floors of the gallery were still in the process of installing, we werent allowed to have access to see the works on those two levels.
Really interested museum, and not far from Taipei main station. If you are person who interested in architecture or Taiwan history, I highly recommend you to join their English group tour (I think they have every Sunday, plz confirm it again). You would learn about Taiwan briefly history from this building and its FREE. Plus, the admission ticket also cheap.
the museum is children and family friendly. Clean toilets and facilities for disabled people also exist. its just that there are many stairs. there is museum number one and number two which is located across the street, in museum number 2 there is a museum of taiwan land bank.
??? Museum look like roam buildingBut inside .... micro creature? Why is it thereFee is 30 i dont recommend hereBut if you are looking for toilet and cold place its here
I loved this place coz i got architecture and historical knowledge by one English guide, She was a student of university and told us so many things behind the designs and making of the Museum, its so amazing building made by 2 japanese. They decorate outsides with palm trees and i saw first time that designers used fruits designs on pillars. Thanks for information in English. Kids can have alot of knowledge here about sea world , flowers and insects, their culture and living style of old Taiwanese peoples.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this museum because Im not usually one for history museums. The building was old and beautiful but the exhibits were very modern. They were engaging, even good for kids. Right now, the first floor has the microfossil exhibit and the insect exhibit, the second floor is closed and the third floor has aboriginal Taiwanese history. I went through the entire floor by myself but a free tour guide gave a really interesting tour afterwards that taught me far more than I could learn from the exhibits by myself.
Average size museum, mostly about archeology and Taiwans aboriginal history. However, many exhibitions were under renovation, so there wasnt much to see, except for 2 galleries. I expected better though. Theres also a small section that talks about housing in old Taipei.
There’s two elements of this museum that I absolutely love:1the historic significance and beauty of the structure itself - a former bank headquarters- so just imagine lost of marble, a grand foyer and high ceilings - so nice!2the exhibitions are super interactive and extremely contemporary in display and design. You know when you’re shifting from one discipline to another because the room is coloured differently as an example or has a centre piece that’s super engaging
Love this place, all the exhibits are so well done, and the building itself is amazing, the gift shop has some unique stuff.
A very well-kept, serene and historical museum with relatively low entrance fees. Loved the exhibits which change from time to time. It is situated at a very convenient and easily-accessible location.
A must visit to children and adult alike to get a glimpse of Taipei and Taiwan history.People who have contributed to the booming of Taipei have their pictures displayed.Local or native of Taiwans on the ruralsides have their dresses displayed.Fossils, animals distinct to Taiwan have been displayed too.Cultural, historical and scientific displays.
Good plan we to hangout with kids as you can take a stroll around the park as well. Great value as the ticket is valid for 2 museums - can’t miss another one across the street. It’s the oldest museum in Taiwan.
A very nice museum which not only keeps the traditional of the building itself but also turns into a multi exhibitions. I was there when the elephant exhibition was on. It is good to know more about elephants and seeing the fossils of them. Worth to go! Tge entrance fee is cheap too.
30 Dollars (Taiwanfor a visit to National Taiwan Museum and Land Bank Exhibition Hall of NTM really worth it. Apart from the museum content (history and nature), the building exterior and interior designs also attract me.
It’s remarkable for being the oldest museum in Taiwan (established in 1908and for its beautiful Renaissance-style building with imposing Greek columns. The museum is relatively small and a visit should not last more than two hours. When I visited, there were exhibits on Taiwanese stone sculpture and locally mined gemstones. They also offer a short tour that explains the history and architecture of the building. The exhibits all have English text and they have English speaking docents leading the tour. The admission ticket costs 30 NT (1 USDand can also be used for admission to the Land Bank Exhibition Hall across the street.
The museum has 6 halls displaying exhibits that change from time to time. The halls are quite small so one can easily complete the whole museum within an hour.
